My first time visiting Fries, I was recommended to them by a family friend, whos a mechanic at another shop- I went in for an Emissions test. and the guys took good care of my old ford ranger, The lobby was the old school kinda vibe that I personally like. felt more like a friend's garage than a business trying to rob you blind (looking at you VA T/A), But there shop cat is what sold me, I hope the owner/manager gets his guys some pizza because they deserve it. I normally do my own work, but since moving its been hard for me to do my own maintenance- its nice to know i've found a shop that I could take it to for proper work.

After taking my deceased father's truck for an inspection for my mom and being told it needed a bearing, brakes, and rotors, I took it to a "trusted garage" (Fries) who said brakes and rotors weren't needed. They said the brakes and rotors were fine and passed the inspection. A couple of months later, the ignition locked up, so I towed it to Fries. I also asked that they look at the check engine light and a squeak that was coming from the rear of the truck. They called and said the ignition was $600 so I said ok. When the truck was ready, I found out they hadn't looked at anything else. It took multiple calls to get that done. Nothing was authorized. During this time, they continuously called my husband despite us both asking that they call me. They called me only a couple of times, and when I called back I left a voicemail. I never received a return call from any of my messages. Two days ago, I received a call stating that the calipers needed replacement, so I assumed that was the squeak. I was told it would be $2,700, which I did not ok. Today, I called to say that I would be picking the truck up and would pay the $600 bill. At that point, they informed me that the bill was over $2,000 because they had replaced the brakes and rotors, claiming that my husband had authorized it, which I knew to be untrue. The employee even admitted that my husband had said he would not authorize repairs. He told me he would find out who authorized it since it appeared to have happened while he was on vacation and he would call me back. Knowing I could not actually expect a return call, I got in the car with my husband and drove to Fries. When I arrived, I explained to Billy that I had come there to avoid getting swindled by a shop I didn't know when I was told the brakes and rotors needed to be replaced in the not-so-distant future, and that Fries had (upon passing my dad's truck in the safety inspection) had agreed that this was unnecessary. I asked why this work was suddenly authorized and done without my knowledge at all when just a month or so before Fries had told me it was unnecessary, and I had take the truck in for an ignition problem and simply asked them to look at a few minor things. He explained that he could make a call to see if there was anything they could do on the pricing, but that he would have to call me and I could not take the truck then. I asked him to call someone right away, because I was not leaving without taking the truck as it had been almost a month. When Billy walked in the back, I was surprised to see him followed by Gene, the owner, who apparently was onsite not requiring any call back. When Gene came out, he immediately informed me that my husband, who he did not know was in the car, had authorized the work before telling Billy that he was uncomfortable authorizing anything because it wasn't his vehicle, but my mother's. This obviously made no sense, so I called my husband in. My husband informed them that no such thing had happened.Had Fries simply admitted to the mistake and attempted to make some kind of concession, I probably would have been fine. I work in the service industry myself, and I understand these things happen. Instead, my husband and I were essentially called liars, and I was told that it was my fault that the vehicle had been there for so long because I didn't answer my phone. They had no excuse for constantly calling my husband instead of me, and for not returning any of the (at least six) voicemails I had left, or the call I had made directly with a human being last week. I was told that I was not leaving with that truck unless I paid the bill they claimed was due. Once I realized I was being held hostage, I will admit, I went COMPLETELY off (not sorry), at which point the owner's wife felt the need to say that her husband was no liar (again insinuating that my husband and I are), and further stating that if I didn't like it, I could just take them to court.I had to truncate this for space, but you get the idea. I would never recommend this place.

My husband and I bring all our vehicles to Fries, and if you're looking for great work done in a timely manner, then you should too.

Gene, Billy, Luke, and Tracy are great people, and make you feel like you are apart of their family. I have been going to Fries for almost 10 years and they always do their best to get me in and out as fast as possible. Pricing, communication, and everything in between is top notch. Great shop and people, and most importantly, trustworthy.

I couldn t go to a repair shop cause I didn t have extra. So when I finally did go the other shop want an appointment and leaving car there, which is my only transportation. The shop took my car in and test drove it. It turns out where I last took my car, the lug nuts where loose.I am grateful to these guys. Thank you a million times.

Great garage. Kinda old school, but I like that. Friendly and down to earth.

Avoid this place! They kept my car for 2 weeks sitting on their lot, without even checking to see what was wrong. I heard excuses like the staff was sick. For 2 weeks? I did not harass them because I was afraid they would do something bad to my car. The service manager [I guess] told me he would do several things to try to find out what was wrong. He told me my repair part would be $400.00. On my receipt the part price was $298. He seemed to manipulate the prices he finally charged me. Total labor was about an hour but the price remained at $1,000. I had to pay it to get my car back. It was there a total of 3 weeks! Avoid this place.Services: Engine repair, Wiper blade installation, Battery

A Wonderful Family owned and operated Auto Service establishment, founded in 1969.It was my first visit and I felt right at home. The associates were friendly, expedient, accommodating and professional.Although, they were busy, I was immediately greeted and they took care of my Inspection within about 15 minutes upon arrival.I also met the owner, Gene Fries whom was just as Awesome as his team, which shows that he's a great leader.I'll definitely go back for future Auto needs.

I was recommended this garage by a coworker. The man in charge got me in the morning after I called (I called late in the day). Diagnosed vibration in the front drivetrain and had the new parts received installed in a day and it completely fixed the issue. The price was far less than I expected. Everyone I dealt with was professional. I suspect at least a couple of them are former or current military from how they carry themselves and their business. I will absolutely use this garage again, it seems to be one of those mythical 'honest mechanics' I hear about.Highly recommend. 5/5Service: Steering & suspension repair

I needed and emissions and foolishly went on the busiest day of the month. They were nice enough to take me in. I failed. The gentleman said to come back the next morning they were open and he'd fit me in. I did. I had to wait an hour, but no biggie...I was a walk-in afterall. I had a problem with a wire and they changed a fuse. 15-20 min tops. They don't pro-rate the labor charge ($105/hr) for the amount of time they actually work on the car. Yes, it was $105 for me to have a wire fixed and a fuse replaced. They were nice enough to not charge me for the actual fuse. If you go here be prepared for two things. 1-Labor Charge, and 2-The wait. They must be good at what they do because they seem to stay busy and the phone is always ringing.

I had my two cars safety and emission inspections done here, no appointment needed. They were extremely fast, courteous and professional, even at 7am on a Monday. As a bonus, there is a resident cat named Paulie who is a sweetheart. I ll definitely be back!

I called them with the need of having 3 lugs removed from my van that were STUCK. I mean I had other mechanics try and all. They got them off for $50 and changed all of my remaining lugs for FREE. I will recommend them for all and everything in between.

GREAT service. Reasonable prices. Always takes care of our family. They will tell you want you should do, are required to do and what can wait. Most places won't do that. I trust Fries. I can't say that about any other shop which is why we do anything we can on our own but when it is beyond us, we go to Fries.Services: General repairs & maintenance, Auto engine diagnostic, Oil changeServices: General repairs & maintenance, Auto engine diagnostic, Oil change

Fries Garage was referred to me by a friend after I told this friend about how a garage in my area wanted to charge an absurd amount in labor. Im so glad I went to Fries! They saved me so much in labor costs and I am so grateful. A fair mechanic is something that customers always look for. We have found our forever garage with Fries!! We will be sending all of our cars there.

Great family owner shop. They always do my state inspections. I ve had our two cars there a few times to have over $4K in work done. They do good work. They do have Fox News on all day and don t wear face masks during COVID-19 but that has nothing to do with car repair.

I stopped by from work and they told me my emissions test would be 15 to 20 minutes. I dropped the car off and walked to the deli to get a sandwhich; when I walked back they were done! Very fast an efficient! I will definitely be a customer. Would recommend to everyone! Also very friendly environment.

As someone who's worked in the automotive industry for 15 plus years as both a technician and management I can tell you there's no better place than Fries garage. When I left the automotive industry I struggled to find a shop that doesn't play the games that I knew all too well. Fries garage doesn't play games honest pricing, transparent communication, and technicians who know what they're doing. No need to look any further, go here and the owner and Billy will take great care of you.Services: Exhaust, Engine repair, Brakes, A/C installation & repair, Air conditioning, Oil change

Took my car for State inspection. Had the guy write down everything I needed fixed. Got it all done in three days and returned. Then he told me about two other things he DID NOT write down the first time one of which was not required by the state. Illegal. Never again.

I went there for a state inspection. The inspector gave me a long list of problems.. including (1) my headlight assembly was cracked and (2) my right windshield washer was not good enough (something about not enough rubber). Both work perfectly. He told me the crack in the light assembly (still water tigher) might scratch someone if they brused up against it (maybe he meant deer). what a rip off artist. Then the Fries employee behind the desk told me that the $20 state inspection might cost $50 if they had to raise the car (if they try this on you, call the state police). I just paid them the 20$ and got out of there. STay away from these people.

Fair and honest but always busy. The amount of work that they do should tell you what the community thinks of their business. Friendly faces and a very comfortable customer waiting are make this feel like you stopped at your brother's house for some help. The garage is very well equipped and their mechanics can diagnose everything and get it right from the start. Parking is a bit congested but be creative because it is worth the trouble. I choose these guys over any dealer's shop every day of the week. If it is a hot day walk a short distance east (100 ft) and get some ice cream. You deserve a treat for coming to the right garage so get yourself two scoops of chocolate. When your car is done drive over to the car wash and get your ride sparkling. Call it a spa day but start with Fries.

I took my vehicle there on a Wednesday. They told me that they might be able to look at it Friday or the following Monday. By the next Wednesday it still was not even looked at. Ended up having to tow it to another shop! Very poor experience.

I was referred to them by two coworkers and I cannot sing their praises enough! Being a woman, I feel like mechanics have gotten over one me but not at Fries. They did so much work to my car and it wasn't as expensive as I estimated it to be which was a HUGE relief! I will definitely take my car to them if I have anymore car troubles *knock on wood*

Had estimates that were through the roof from other shops. Fries not only correctly diagnosed the reason my Jeep was overheating, but they fixed it quickly and it was affordable. I d recommend anyone go to them first.

The most important thing to me in a repair shop is honesty, fairness, and good prices. This fits the bill in every way. If you don't wanna be ripped off, as I have been many times, going to auto repair shops, this is the place to go if you live anywhere in the vicinity of Manassas Virginia.

My lugnut lock for my tires somehow got lost, & without it the tires won't come off. I went to Fries desperate not knowing what to do. Assuming it was going to be some huge costly ordeal. The nice front desk worker told me they would take the locking ones off & replace them. They did the work rite then on the spot & charged me MINIMAL. Unbelievable happy shock. Thank you so much Fries ~ that was awesome!

I will never go to Fries Garage EVER again in my life!!! I took my car there over a month ago after i had an incident with the snow and they were supposed to fix my steering gear and come to find they DID NOT fix the problem!!!!!!! I just had another mechanic look at my car and he said that i should never have been driving my car, i could have easily gotten into a bad accident. Oh my goodness I have 3 children's whose lives have been at stake this whole time.
