I have always taken extra good care of my car. That's why when I took my car to Waterlick Garage and Tire I put a lot of trust that they were going to actually help me out and genuinely get to the bottom of the problem, but I could not have been more WRONG. My Jeep Grand Cherokee had been having issues with its Start/Stop function, so I brought it into Waterlick Garage to see if they could get to the root of the problem. At first, they replaced my batteries, and when I got back into my car the same issue was still occurring. Almost like they did not even test my car to make sure the batteries fixed the issue!! Unfortunately for me, I brought my car back to Waterlick for a second look at the issue. Bad decision!! They ended up attempting to do three separate things on my vehicle, to solve one issue. That is when the red flags went off that they had no idea what the problem was, and were charging me for as many things as they could. Not only that, but they did not even call me to make sure I was okay with the work that they were going to do!! By my surprise, I show up the next day to $300 worth of work that I did not even say was okay!! After trying to reason with the owner, I was scolded over the phone that they were not going to apologize and had not done anything wrong. He even wanted me to bring the car back in!! He was attempting to fool me three times. If Waterlick was a professional Auto Garage they would have been honest with me and told me that they did not know what the issue was, and that I should have taken it somewhere else. Instead, they racked up the charges for work that they were completely guessing on, and did not get the okay to do that work from the vehicle owner. If you want to take your vehicle somewhere that is professional, respectful, and is not looking to make as much money as they can, then please do not take it to Waterlick!! I wish I had read some of the reviews before I brought my car here, because then I would have saved thousands of dollars and dealing with a broken car for over a month!! Find somewhere else!!

friendly place for college kids. always willing to work with you and explain what s going on with your vehicle. I had an issue recently where I had to drop my car off for a problem that I thought was fixed through them and they were able to correct it promptly despite being booked. thankful for a clean and efficient mechanic shop in the area. Do be aware that they do get pretty busy.

I took my vehicle to Dave in April and he put in a new battery and that didn't work, my car continued to shut off and then he put in a new alternator. When we went in to pick up the vehicle it did not start, and it was still dead which was one of the reasons we brought our vehicle to Waterlick garage in the first place. I continued to have issues after a brand new battery and alternator was put in and I took my vehicle back in July to Dave, and he told me that it was the panel on top of my main battery this time. I wanted to get a second opinion and I took it to the Dodge dealership in Lynchburg and they figured out that it was my auxiliary battery that was the issue because it had a dead cell. After that was replaced I have had no more issues. Dave was not professional and he had an attitude every time we were there and I did not appreciate that at all, and I will never again use the services at Waterlick garage. I would suggest if there are any problems with anyone else's vehicle that they go to the Dodge dealership in Lynchburg before they ever go to Waterlick garage.Services: General repairs & maintenance, Battery

My father has been coming to Waterlick Garage for almost 20 years so I decided to patronize the establishment myself.Took my 05 TSX in to replace a lightbulb and to get an AC Compressor installed. They wanted to charge me $1500 for the compressor and repair and $600 to repair light. When asked how much the part was and labor for AC they couldn't tell me but could tell me $1500 total price. Make that make sense ? When asked about the headlight could tell me the part was $500 bucks but couldn't tell me name of the partMy ASE certified mechanic in Petersburg did everything for $500 dollars with using new parts...make it make sense advised others including my father to start getting work done elsewhere!!!!And please don't post a negative review they don't take well to business being criticized. Without being criticized how do you become better as a Store Manager myself it is ridiculous. After being refused for stating my opinion I took my vehicle to the real Waterlick Garage ..ForestBrook Automotive and they did excellent work

I have taken many vehicles here over the years and as always they are very professional and fair on price. They stand behind the work they do. Excellent service! Came in to get a car inspected before purchase and was greeted by Debby and Brittany. They quickly got me started. Dave came back to me with all the knowledge I needed to make an educated purchase. They just saved me so much money!

Took my vehicle in for an inspection. The facility is very clean and all employees were very friendly and helpful. The mechanic actually took me into the bay area to show me the problems with my car, which I was very impressed with, as I have never had a technician do that before. My car needed two tires so I went elsewhere to buy used tires because I'm on a fixed income. Went back the next morning. They got me in immediately for a re-inspection and I was home in minutes!! VERY pleased with the whole experience! Would recommend to anyone!Service: Vehicle safety inspection

David and his crew have treated us only with dignity and respect. My wife, daughter, and I all take our vehicles to Waterlick Garage & Tire and love the service we get there. This team is incredibly flexible, calmly and promptly handling emergencies with calmness. I m blown away by how quickly repairs are done and with the kindness of everyone on staff that we encounter.

My battery light came on today (the day before thanksgiving). I had to work, but rushed to the garage as soon as I was done with work because I don t trust anybody else working on my car but them! They were about to close early for the holiday and I told him what was going on and Dave had it taken care of within 45 minutes and I was out the door. Had my vehicle towed there just to get a second opinion. After they looked at it, I was making arrangements so I could have them move forward with the repair. But I received a call from them saying the engine was blown and then barely giving me 24 hours notice that if I didn t pay $300 they were gonna sell my vehicle. Luckily I had the $300 they were demanding. So I paid it and then had it towed to a more trusted shop where I will move forward with my repairs bc it turns out the engine isn t blown. I can t help but feel that I was treated dishonestly, considering I was already in a bind. They definitely took advantage of my situation. After I paid them the $300, they didn t even want to give me the key to my vehicle and demanded to give it to the tow truck driver. I wouldn t recommend going here. Needless to say they won t get anymore business from me.

Called to set an appointment and verbatim said My radiator coolant is leaking. I need to know where the leak is. Dropped the car off, only to get a call this morning saying that yes I have a leak and no, they dont know where the leak is. Why? because its behind the cars plastic. Gee, thank you for telling me what I already knew, told you I knew and STILL charging me the $70 diagnostic fee. Waste of my time and money. If these people were so nice they wouldn t have charged for a service that they didnt or wouldnt complete.Service: General repairs & maintenance

We took our 2014 Honda in because it would not start. $380 worth of work later, without testing the battery, the vehicle is returned to us. Two days later, the car did not start. Took the vehicle back again and the mechanic changed the battery, charged me another $173. The next day, the car did not start. Mechanic tells me my daughter does not know how to start a car or charge her phone properly. $553 invested, nothing to show for it but a tutorial on why it's not their fault the car won't start. If you work hard for your money, don't take your vehicles to this establishment. BTW, I would have given zero stars but that wasn't an option.Service: Battery

Honest, reliable service at a fair price! Work always done on time. Dave runs a tight ship, and has an awesome group of mechanics and office staff. Been in business for 30+ years! You don't last that long doing shoddy work.....Waterlick is top notch!

I haven't used this garage in 20 years because every time I took my car in for a problem, they fixed it and then my car would immediately have an issue unrelated to what they fixed. 20 years later my car broke down I didn't have time to take it to my mechanic in SC. It was taken to waterlick garage. They couldn't get the car to mess up again but told me I needed to replace all my injectors since one is messing up. They replaced all my injectors and I have lost over 10 miles to the gallon. I used to get 27 miles to the gallon on the highway 22 miles to the gallon in the city. Highway is now 20 miles to the gallon and city is 12 miles to the gallon.

Yesterday my car turned on the check engine light and I was very scared, I went to their workshop and they helped me with great professionalism and they gave me an appointment for the other day, I was early and in the afternoon everything was ready. I loved the treatment I recommend it

I brought my car in due to it overheating. Dave called me letting me know I needed one of my wheel bearings replaced as well. My car was okay for a week and then started overheating again. When I called Dave he told me that I needed to figure out what was wrong with my car because it could be 50 different things. He is VERY unprofessional and money hungry. I would not recommend going to this auto shop.

I took my car to Waterlick because it had a gas-like smell. Dave told me I was filling it up with too much gas and it should go away. When it did not, we brought the car back. He then said it was an exhaust pipe issue. I asked him to fix it and to do an inspection. He fixed that and then called to tell me that he found out the catalytic converter was bad. He said it was not working after he fixed the exhaust pipe. He told me he couldn t pass the car because it needed 2 tires and the headlights weren t working. I paid him almost $1700 and my daughter picked up the car. When I went to drive it, they had removed the inspection sticker but had not put a reject sticker on it. I got the tires and lights fixed. I took it back to get it reinspected. Dave then told me I needed 2 more tires and some other lights were out. He also told me there was no way his shop would have removed the inspection sticker. I told him it definitely had an inspection sticker which was why I knew it needed a new one. He then tried to tell me that he had told me all the things about the car that wouldn t pass inspection by showing me his copy of the paperwork - which had Insp, tires, lights written on it. This was not the same info that was on my paperwork but I told him that the information doesn t say which tires or lights. Then, he told me he didn t even do an inspection on the car. It was frustrating but it would have been a lot better if he was nice or even apologetic. Instead, he doubled down on calling me a liar and mansplaining why it couldn t have had a sticker from VA because of the thickness of the stickers. Illogical. When I called to ask for the inspection, I told her I didn t think he had charged for it and I would pay her when I came up there. I have also only ever registered and inspected cars in VA. It is clear there was an inspection sticker on it from the residue. I spent a lot of money at this place to be talked down to, given partial information, accused, and lied to. As a bonus, the car now makes a sound it did not make before he charged me almost $1700 to fix it. I won t be giving any more money here but I hope this helps someone else.

I went in to get an exhaust leak fixed from a failed inspection that was not noticeable. When I left my car had a noticeable exhaust leak. My mom went for the same thing and he kept saying more things were wrong. She wanted her inspection redone and he said she needed 2 new tires and new headlights after scraping her old inspection off and putting nothing back. She got all those fixed came back and now he claims she needs more lights and 2 more tires. The man claims she never had an inspection and she definitely didn t have one from this state. When my mom stated she did in fact have an inspection that he scraped off he screamed at her and then said he would not longer work on her car.

Awesome service, fair pricing, quick turnaround. I have used David for many years, and can honestly say I will never use anyone else as long as I have a choice. I live in Madison Heights, and it is worth the drive! Thank you Dave, Scott, and everyone else that keeps this place going. Customer for life!!!
