My family has been using this ferry since it began. As a little child this was the highlight of our visit to our grandmother's home in Bertrand. In the 1950s the fairy was so small that the operator used a pole to help get us across as the engine was the size of a lawn mower engine. It was quiet and sweet and the clearness of the water was like looking through glass. It was only big enough for 1 car at a time. The ferryman was always so nice and helpful and really seemed to get a kick out of talking to the kids about taking care of the rivers. Wonderful childhood memories. I'm hoping it is still there as I take a final voyage toward the Corotom River to lay my mother's ashes by the water she loved so much.

It makes for a nice side trip. The ride is rather short but it offers up a nice view of the Corrotoman River. You can't beat the price.

This ferry takes considerable time off of our traveling in Lancaster. Will (the Captain) knows what he's doing and he always serves you with a smile. Just make sure you know the hours of operation.

Out of the way, fairly scenic, and free. A relaxing way to get from nowhere in particular to nowhere in particular. Holds four cars at a time
