We broke down whole traveling. We were pulling a trailer with equipment on. They came right away. We had to have the trailer towed also. They delivered us to the transmission garage promptly. Great and friendly service.

We were on vacation coming through Hillsville, VA, when our alternator started scretching then died, then there was FIRE. We safely got off the interstate and was directed to contact Bert's. It was after hours and we were safe, so we set up for a tow the next morning. Driver arrived, got us hooked up and in his truck. Got to the shop, parts ordered, work accomplished and we were on our way in less than 2 hours from pick up time!! Brittany in the office was very personable and professional. Traveling from PA to FL and my truck started to overheat. I called nearly a dozen places and everyone was booked. I called Bert s, told them my situation, and they told me to come down and immediately got me in and fixed up. They literally saved the day for me and charged me less than my original quote. This is the place to go!

Needed transport back home from Wytheville to South Carolina after timing chain replacement- the failed cam sprocket had bent a couple valves. Nice 3 hour-58-minute ride, driver Mike was great, A/C worked great, reasonable considering the price of diesel fuel - sure wish I'd had AAA Gold, though.

I need my axles checked and my coolant system pressure tested. They said they had openings, so I dropped it off at 8 AM on Tuesday they said they were open Tuesday Wednesday and Friday. I told them I needed my vehicle back no later than Friday when I called Friday it appeared that they had just started looking at the vehicle, and asked me my opinion on whether I thought of the front or the rear axles need to be replaced. I brought it in for them to diagnose whether I need the fronts replaced and to check for a coolant issue. I called about 4 o clock to arrange pick up for the vehicle and they were closed, this is the kind of service you get from Burt s? We will see what they say Monday when I save my vehicle from them on Monday. Not pleased they came highly recommended and the guy who recommended them to me is off my Christmas list!Services: Auto water leak repair, General repairs & maintenance, Vehicle Inspection, Auto maintenance

While travelling, my alternator went out at 7 PM, so I got a hotel room and asked for a recommendation. They highly recommended Bert's Garage, and I'm glad they did. I arrived at the shop at 7:40 AM and by 8 AM they had me diagnosed and had a part ordered. Once the part was delivered, I was on the road within 45 minutes.

Scott and his dad went out of their way to help us today and I can never express how truly grateful we are. Our truck and camper were totaled. He took my husband, myself, our 2 kids and 2 dogs back to his shop and they helped make sure we got a rental car since we were 5 hours from home. Their kindness and professionalism will not be forgotten by our family. Would definitely recommend them. Thank you very much.

Great service, fast and friendly. Fair pricing and did exactly what we needed. We were traveling through town when our van over heated late at night. We luckily made it to a hotel and called first Bert's thing in the morning. They came and towed it at 9am and had us back on the road by 11am. Can't thank you guys enough.

We we re traveling on I77 and an object fell of the truck in front of us. We couldn t maneuver the car fast enough to avoid hitting it. We ended up with a flat. We call Bert s and the immediately took us in and we re able to get a new tire on the car to get us back on the road! Great service and super friendly.Service: TiresService: Tires

We can't say enough about everyone at Bert's. We were traveling through the area pulling our 14000 lb 5th wheel when our turbo blew on our truck. They diagnosed and fixed our diesel truck and had us back on the road within 3 hours. They were amazing!!

Do not do business with this tow company you will get over charged. I was charged $1050.00 for a tow. they even charged me a $75.00 storage fee per day and the car wasnt there for a few hours. charged $125.00 to open the gate $650.00 wrecker service and $125.00 for admin fee and $75.00 clean up fee So please if you want to keep your money dont call Berts for anything. And as a business owner I hate to leave bad reviews and this is my 1st but Berts is out here robbing people !!!!

Traveling up I-77 in VA from SC at 10:45 on a Monday. I'm on my way to a job in Radford, VA. A couple of deer decided to try playing Frogger with my 8500lb F-250. Since I was running 70 mph, Bambi lost. He took out my grill, AC condenser and, at the time we thought, punctured the radiator. Bert's just happened to be at the exit I pulled off on to inspect the damage. Just dumb luck, I guess. But it definitely worked out to my advantage. They ordered the parts that morning promising to have me back on the road by Wednesday morning. Got a call from them at 14:30 on Tuesday telling me my truck was ready. And best of all, the radiator was fine. Didn't need replacing. I can see on the invoice where it was ordered and then removed. I wouldn't have known any different if they had installed it anyway. I left it with them because I had to get a rental and get to the job. The reason I didn't continue to drive it was because I saw what the mechanic and I both thought was coolant leaking behind the condenser.They could have totally charged me to install a $690 radiator that I didn't need. But they didn't. I just walked in with a busted truck at noon on Monday. And drove it back home to SC at noon on Wednesday. Very professional. Good work. Fast work, especially for a walk-in like that. (Even my mechanic at home takes a couple days just to get me in and get started!!) I would highly recommend Bert's. I'm glad I lucked into finding them. I just wish I didn't have to hit a deer to do it ... Now, on to the body work.Service: A/C installation & repair

We were on a trip from Maine to Charlotte, NC, and had a wheel stud shear. Stayed in a hotel for the night, called first thing the next morning, and they fit us in between the many other cars/trucks they were working on. Took a while, but this place is super busy. The mechanic was nice enough to check the rest of the lugs all the way around, loosened and retorqued to make sure we were all set. Super nice, professional, and clean establishment. If we lived nearby, no doubt this would be our go-to garage!Service: Tires

Tow truck drivers went above and beyond to help me when my car overheated on a Sunday night. Repairs were delayed waiting for parts, but they got the work done quickly as soon as the parts were in.

Absolutely a great experience. I broke down towing a car up Fancy Gap coming out of NC. I called them on Sunday evening and had a tow within 20 min. VERY reasonable price on towing. By the time I got to the shop the next morning they already had my truck in the shop and done. Again VERY reasonable repair rates. I would reccomend this place to ANYONE. Great people helpful and friendly!!!

I was broke down on side of the interstate, they came within an hour on a Sunday to tow me to their garage. Then prioritized my truck and got me back on the road asap. I would have no hesitation to have their mechanics work on vehicles I have. Can't say enough good things about them. Its not often that you meet good people like this.

They were able to order and get tires on my vehicle the next day. The waiting area is small for how busy they are but the people there are nice and did a good job.

My car was trying to die everytime I hit the gas. They came and picked it up for me, my appointment came, one day after looking it over had it fixed and back to me the next day. Suffered a Blowout on I77 of my spare (the main was already toast). The driver took my wife to the nearest gas station, came back for me and towed the car back to Hillsville at no charge (we are AAA members). Can't recommend highly enough. Job well done!

My girlfriends car broke down 300 miles away from home. They are a aaa tow service and shop. They looked it over (and cleaned the maf) before we called on tuesday, helped us by talking to the ford dealership and ordering us what we needed to fix her intermittent fuel issue. They were awesome for putting in that leg work for us and im so thankful her car ended up with them. Would 100% recommend to anyone

Bert's Garage is top notch. Helped me out of a huge jam. Rear end went out on my diesel about 15 miles from their shop and they had my truck in the shop within an hour and rolling again the next day. Would have been rolling same day if parts were available but they had to order them in. They have nice new towing equipment, roadside service, and top notch mechanics. Call these guys first, they get you back on the road and their prices are very reasonable. Will be saving their number for when I need them again.

I had an unfortunate incident that happened in Hillsville Virginia. I am from New Jersey and was passing through. I was in an automobile accident. My car was towed to Bert's garage. These are the nicest people I have met in a long long time. not only did they allow me access to my car and my belongings..they arranged fora ride back to my hotel with all of my stuff, via a tow truck driver. Love this place.

Like many who left a review, my truck broke down (blown head gasket) while traveling north on I77. Because of the Google reviews I had the tow truck driver take the truck there. Since it was a big repair, I found another way home (250 miles away) and left him the truck. He quoted about 7-8 hours labor plus parts. Sounded fair.But... After 3 (yes 3) weeks of me calling on a regular basis he finally said he would start on the truck the following Monday. That Friday morning (end of week 4) I called for an update and was told he would let me know something by the end of the day (ummm... what have you been doing all week?). When he called me back he said, "There's water in the oil. You have to replace your engine. He happened to know where there was a used engine (of course) that he would sell me for $1200 (plus lots more labor hours to replace the whole engine). What he didn't know was that I normally do all my own mechanic work and left it there for convenience (of course there's water in the oil, I blew a head gasket! I'll probably find oil in the water too!)So after a $450 shipping cost to bring the truck back I lift the hood and I can tell from the dirt on the engine that nothing under the hood was touched. He drained the oil, found water and without checking anything else tried to tell me I needed a whole new engine. 4 weeks wasted on him putting me off and ultimately trying to cheat me, the truck is back home and I'll do the work myself.If you're repair is major or if you don't know about cars, STAY AWAY. He's a thief and a liar and probably makes a killing taking advantage of stranded motorists. *Edit* I checked the BBB after posting this review and there is a complaint against them for the exact same scenario.Edit #2. When I got the truck home I pulled the heads, took them to a machine shop to be checked and had the valves replaced since there was over 100k miles on the truck anyway. I put them back in, flushed the oil twice, flushed the radiator and have put over 30k miles on the "ruined" engine. Total cost of about $700 in parts and shop fees.
