I've used them for car repairs for several years. They handle more than transmissions. Randy's prices are reasonable, and he and his shop are totally honest! They're the best!

My wife's Buick Enclave was rumbling and seemed to be skipping in the transmission. The dealership diagnosed it as needing a torque converter, which would be in excess of four thousand dollars, plus more to address other issues. So, I started calling other shops to see if they could do the work cheaper. While traveling home on a Saturday, I randomly called Herndon Transmission, and Randy answered. Upon explaining the problem, he immediately researched the issue and suggested trying something else first before spending that much money. He checked GM's own recommendations specific to this problem, and insisted we give it a try. Long story short, I got it there on Tuesday and it was fixed in a couple days for a mere fraction of what the dealership wanted. Wow! Randy is honest, professional, personable, knowledgeable and fair. I can't thank him enough for what he did. Before making a decision based on dealership recommendations, go to Randy. I most certainly will!God bless you, Randy! You're the best!!!

As other reviews have stated, Randy and his team are honest, take the time to educate about not only what is needed on your car but why it is needed, fairly priced, (Randy researches the cost of parts to get the best price for the repairs,) and do not take advantage of their customers. My 2013 car needed extensive unexpected repairs and Randy and Jake worked patiently with me in explaining and phasing the work from most immediate to least immediate. Jake s attention to detail ensured that my tire repair kit was updated. (Unlike other mechanics who ignored the warning advisory on my dashboard.) The cost of replacing my shocks was significantly less than two other auto repair shops from whom I obtained estimates. The car drives so much smoother now that even passengers notice the difference! The final cost of all the repairs totaled less than the estimate that Randy provided! And finally, upon picking up the car and driving to my destination the tire alert light came on. Randy advised that I bring it back for them to check. They discovered that a huge nail was in the tire. They plugged it, tested it, and when I went to pay Randy (knowing I was on a very tight budget) refused my payment as I had already spent a lot of money with them. Randy and Jake through their professionalism, kindness, honesty, and great pricing have earned my business and are my go to mechanics! I had a transmission issue and dropped off my truck (2011 Ford F150 SVT). After determining what the problem was, Randy found that it may be covered under warranty. He gave me the phone number, recall information, and asked me to check with Ford to see if it would be covered. If it would, he stated that he would get the truck ready so I could pick it up and take it to Ford. They could have easily just done the repair and never said a word, but did the right thing and tried to find a less expensive way for me to get the truck fixed. It says a lot about the way Herndon Reston Transmission goes about their business if they are willing to cost themselves work to help their customers. I would 100% recommend them for your automotive work.

Randy and his crew are fantastic. Since 2012, when I moved into this area they have been taking care of my cars. They are friendly and customer service oriented, their prices are competitive and not out to gouge, my cars have always done well and lasted a long time with their help. I don t live in the immediate area, but I still bring my cars here when I can, because of the trust they have instilled. Came in to get the clutch replaced in my 05 jeep Wrangler. After getting it replaced I was amazed how light it felt! Guess I've been needing it done for awhile. They were fast and very friendly. This shop will go the extra length to make sure you are treated right. I would highly recommend taking your car here for anything drive train related.

The guy in the picture charged me $ 145 for just cleaning the code which came back up right away . Didn t even bother to test the battery or alternator output. SAD. You better be looking somewhere else.

I've been a repeat customer for over five years and this team has always taken great care of me. I have a 2006 Jeep Wrangler with over 215K miles. When you have a vehicle this age with high mileage, you really need automotive experts that you know you can trust. I have confidence sending all my friends and family when someone needs service. Randy has always been straightforward about what needs to be done and quotes a fair price. He doesn't mislead you into pricey and unnecessary repairs like other shops I've experienced in the area. Transmission on my old Chevy was failing. Limped to HRT. Gave me honest feedback with options to replace or rebuild. Went for a rebuild with warranty. Surprisingly affordable. I brought them my 1996 Dodge 2500 (46RE) for a trans fluid change and free inspection when I felt something in the trans was off. It ended up being the torque converter. My van was under warrantee from a shop in California. HR Transmission worked (patiently) with them and charged them a much discounted shop-to-shop rate. Their customer service was excellent throughout. I would go to them again without hesitation, and I have already recommended them to friends and family.Service: Transmission

Helped my boyfriend when our transmission was failing. They were extremely communicative, up front, and knowledgeable about everything. We were able to get our car back quickly and in perfect condition! Needless to say, Randy and his staff are incredible. I had a very labor intensive emission issue that VA Tire and Auto as well as Jeep refused to service. Randy made light work of it for less than half of the estimate from the big names in the auto industry. The entire experience was extremely personable and I highly recommend him and his highly trained mechanics.Service: Exhaust

I trusted the owner however using them was a mistake. The car is in the shop now with a reputable service center and they noted that they put the steering wheel on backwards. Now Herndon Transmission was honest and said they put the steering wheel on backwards and they needed to correct it. When it was picked up it was suppose to be corrected. However, the new service center said it was still on backwards. Herndon Transmission removed the driving shaft and said it was not required and now we received three estimates on what needs to be fixed and replaced. All three have said they do not know why the draft shaft was removed and it needed to be replaced. Be leery and manage your expectations when dealing with management at Herndon Transmission.

Put the wrong motor oil in my son's truck, cost over $600 to replace oil pressure switch, drain oil and re-change to correct oil FROM DODGE RAM OF LEESBURG (TECHNICIAN SAID HE NEVER SEEN SUCH A SLOPPY MISTAKE) God only knows what future problems this may have caused to the truck, my son is in the process of taking them to small claims court to pay for this, he's not trying to make money on them just trying not to spend money because of there negligence. STAY AWAY...UNLESS YOU WANNA WRITE A REVIEW ALSO...,plenty of great company's out there no need to settle

I own a 2004 2500 Dodge Ram Heavy Duty truck with over 200k in miles, that has been experiencing rear in differential grinding of the gears for some time. I have had the differential fluid changed several times but to no avail the grinding noise persisted. I thought it was the transfer case so I changed that out with a new rebuilt at a total cost of 2K. when all done. I changed out transmission fluid and filter yearly but still grinding. I finally concluded that I needed a rear differential rebuild, which would have costed me upwards $2500.00. I called, Randy answered and advised to bring in so that he could properly assess. By his expertise it wasn't in need of a rebuild, but instead some additive that costs me $192.00. Everything that I read positive was my experience and more with Herndon Reston Transmission shop. They saved me big time $, and for that I will always take my truck there for service. I suggest you do as well. You can trust them to be honest and friendly. (AND NO this is not someone that works at the shop or apart of the company). I am a true and actual customer.Service: Transmission

I recently moved to the area and had no idea where to get my car repaired. My newly replaced transmission (less than 7 months old) had went out again and I was frustrated with the same car problems. I was told about Herndon Reston Transmission and they were AMAZING!! Mr.Randy and his team worked miracles on my 2008 vehicle and it has ran beautifully for the first time in a very long time. When there was a leak they were so quick to fix it and were beyond helpful! I m so thankful for their service and kindness! Definitely recommend any car repairs to be done here!Service: Transmission

Really good ethical shop. I was a professinal mechanic years ago and use this place when I have outsource trans work. Have had one repair done where the German shop said they had to pull trans, Herndon Transmission did the B2 seal in the car for like 300 dollars. Another time dealing with that Randy called me back and stated they over charged me for a Tran service and adjusted the price. They really know transmissions, many techs are intimidated by auto trans work due to the many small parts, these guys are top notch.

Randy and his son Jake were incredibly helpful during what turned out to be a complete transmission replacement for my Audi. They worked with the warranty company, sitting through countless phone calls on hold, to ensure that the coverage was honored and my car fixed with the best OEM parts. Prices are reasonable for NOVA and they are very honest mechanics which is something hard to find. I took my car to the big dealership and they said my issue could not be fixed! I was prepared to trade it in and took it here for a second opinion. They had it fixed before the next day and back on the road. Communication was great with prompt quotes via email for approval. They also provide a free basic check, something the big dealers want $120 for. I found my new local shop.

Found this location via google maps and decided to go based on the positive reviews. After going to two transmission shops, including the Ford dealership, they could not or misdiagnosed the issue with the sounds coming from my transmission in my truck . I explained the issue and Randy stated in straight forward fashion that the issue may be something else but gave me a quote (reasonable) for what i thought the issue was. After diagnosing and informing me of the issue, the truck was repaired. What I thought was an expense that was gong to be close to $2000, Randy fixed the issue at a cost of a little over $200. He advised me to bring the truck back if there was an issue. I may have found a new mechanic for our other car. Nelson P.Service: Transmission

Herndon Transmission never fails to impress me with their service. We have taken our Jeep and both of our Subarus to them. One of our Subies felt like it was slipping and I was afraid it was the transmission. Instead of trying to upsell us, they took a look at it and it wasn't the transmission *breath of relief*. They guessed it may have been the wheels' ball bearings, but nope. They flushed the transmission at our request, gave it some new fluid, and did a much needed oil/filter change. These guys are friendly, efficient, and honest about everything they do. I will definitely have to drive by with a treat for these fellas. One of a very few shops in this area capable of changing out rear differential gears on my Mustang. They were very thorough , knowledgeable and cooperative. The owner went above and beyond taking care of my car. Pricing was very fair. All around good guys

This shop was recommended to me by my co-worker so I gave them a call to get an estimate to replace my back breaks and rotors. Not only did Randy give me a fantastic price, but he was nice enough to give me a lift back to my office (keep in mind I work less than a mile away) and had my car done within a couple of hours. Randy was so nice and very knowledgeable...Herndon Reston Transmission has got my business!!

Had my transmission serviced on my 1972 Plymouth Fury. Good to know someone stills knows how to work on older cars. They fixed the pan fluid leak as well as some others. Price was very reasonable and it was done quickly. All around good experience here.

I am beyond pleased and happy with the excellent service I was provided. I brought in my Toyota Camry 2000 after it failing safety. Not only did they help me find the best prices for parts but did an amazing job at getting my car ready to pass and be safe on the roads. I can honestly say this will always be my first pick over any other shop!!
