It takes a little while to get in, but these folk can actually repair things. Had two components that needed a bit of new wiring. Have gone here for years with older cars. Taken my newer cars to the dealer. Coming back here again going forward.

I normally hate taking my car into the shop, I dont always trust mechanics. However at this shop there was a young man named Joe who was very patient, and helpful. He explained the problem very clearly, and explained the costs (which were pretty low) in a way that was easy for me to understand. Many years ago in ~1990, we took our car here for service and were very pleased with both the service and the cost. It seems this good marketing policy is still their goal. Proof that good service and decent price are the important ingredients in success and longevity.

This is the most honest, trustworthy, and reliable repair shop within 50 mi. Seriously, I have extremely high regard for owner Mike, who is the hands on mechanic among the crew. I expected my 60K service to cost me $400-$600 but he only charged me $168. He also gave me his honest estimate for brake replacement, that it could wait!Other repair shops ought to learn from this establishment.Services: General repairs & maintenance, Brakes

Our car was making a noise. We took it to another shop, but they were not able to find the problem. A friend recommended Dranesville Auto. We decided to try it, even though we live 20 minutes away. We dropped the car off at night. They found the problem and fixed it the next day for a reasonable price. We were very pleased with the communication and quality of service. Took in my vehicle after getting a quote from a regional well known auto repair shop. The well known shop quoted a repair which wasn t needed and the other two items done on my auto were done for less then half of what was quoted by the other repair shop. Repairs were done quickly and I was able to pick up auto on same day. Highly recommend this company for any auto repairs that you may need. a Completely Honest and Family Run business here... Each time I've used them I am more impressed by their honesty and quality of work.This shop has been in the same location for many many years and generally takes 1-2 weeks to get in. But I'll never quote shop again.I recommended this place to a friend who was also impressed with the quality of work and felt his price was honest. Everyone needs a mechanic this good.

If you can get an appointment at a time that works for your repair needs, there is no point in going anywhere else. The fact that there is usually a long wait to get an appointment should tell you all you need to know about Dranesville's quality service. They provide excellent, honest work at a fair price. Other repair shops should consider that formula.

I've been taking my car here for a long time. The prices are very reasonable, and most importantly the mechanics are honest. I recently experienced my car pulling to the right side and I thought it needed a wheel alignment. However, when Dranesville Auto looked at it they found that there was a nail in one of my tires and it was nearly flat. They removed the nail, plugged the hole, and reinflated my tire, fixing the issue of my steering pulling to one side. Other auto shops would have either done the realignment without realizing that it wasn't the real problem, or they would have fixed the real problem but charged me an arm and a leg for it. I'm grateful that Dranesville Auto is here to give my car problems honest diagnoses and affordable repairs.

I have been taking all my vehicles here for over 40 years, and my dad, 15 years prior to that! If you want an honest mechanic who does good work and doesn't Rob you blind with unnecessary stuff, then this is the place to go. State inspection, emissions, repair work...heck, they even replaced the engine in my Jeep! I've tried other places and not to rip on any other place, Dranesville is a breath of fresh air!

These guys are consistently honest. They will tell me if a repair does not need to be done even when I think it needs to be done. They charge me for the time that it takes to make the repair and consistently charge me significantly LESS than my estimate. Got a flat tire. Dropped it off at night after closing and had the car back the next day with two new tires and an oil change to boot. They even stayed late to finish the paperwork. Great service, fair price. Recommend.

The best auto service on the area. You will probably have to wait a few days for an appointment, but it's worth it for honest work. They only charge you for what needs to be done. Even if you suggest more expensive repairs, they don't do them unless necessary.

Always fair and honest. I trust them and that is saying a lot for any auto repair business. Very reasonable and they will never try to sell you work that you don't need and will also tell you if someone else recommended a repair that you did not need. Everything you could ask for in an auto repair shop!

When it comes to auto repair, you can't do any better around here than Dranesville Auto. If you are looking for a truly HONEST and fairly-priced auto repair shop to trust with your car, look no further. Like my father before me, I have been taking my cars here since I learned to drive in the mid-1970s. The fact that you may have to wait a week or more for your appointment ought to tell you plenty...not that DA needs any publicity, because it doesn't!

Two great experiences. First, went for a state inspection, small problem. Could have just rejected me, but kept the ticket open, told me exactly how to correct it, and let me run to the autoparts store and resolve it quickly. Second, called to get an appointment to fix an intermittent turn signal failure. Right over the phone, they diagnosed the most likely problem and told me how to try the fix. And it worked. This is after I wasted my time going to the dealer to get the issue resolved, and since it was intermittent, they didn't do anything.

Had a problem with my car. I went to them, asked for an inspection, and they told me that I had some old rusty parts inside. Since I had only recently purchased the car (Kia Soul 2013 used AND precertified by the Kia factory to have good working parts), dranesville auto suggested I go to my dealer, tell them there's old rusted out parts (the dealer had not been so kind to let me know about this), and that they should fix it for free for me. I did that and my dealer (Fairfax Kia) covered the cost, after a great deal of nagging. Dranesville Auto ended up saving me $800. good peoples.

I didn t appreciate the $63 extra to clean the cooling system, when I actually asked them (and wrote orders) to simply check the level of the antifreeze. What looks very suspicious to me is that I didn t receive a phone call to ask me if I was ok with that service. I had no choice.Asked what it was, the front desk lady answered: I don t know, I don t work in the repair shop. Fantastic answer, ain t?I will not go back there. In addition, the white lady at the front desk (manager?) is so unplaisant that it seems like you are doing her a favor by dropping your car at her place. No hello, no thank you, no good bye.Bye!!

The service was amazing the mechanic work on my car was excellent and the cost was reasonable. They are my go to mechanics. I highly recommend Dranesville Auto and the front desk is courteous and helpful too

People are nice, but I took my car in to get the A/C looked at, which they did and that's fine, but I also told them to fix my exhaust pipe. They told me that they would weld it and it would cost $120 which I agreed would be okay. He called back and told me he would decrease the cost to $70, which I thought was lovely until I actually looked at it and saw that rather than welding it, they "JB WELDED" it. NOT THE SAME THING. I drove it around and after a week it busted and the exhaust pipe is hanging again. I dont have the money to waste at this shop just for them to JB weld the thing again. If I wanted that I would have gone to Autozone and did it myself. Definitely let me down. I thought they were just trying to help me out after seeing how crappy my car was, but turns out THEY were trying to save a buck. Thanks a lot guys.

I was on my way to Algonkian park to kayak when my tire pressure light came on. I pulled over to inflate the tire using my little portable pump and happened to end up in front of the shop. After about 5 minutes of trying and failing to get the tire up to pressure, a garage door opened and a mechanic came out and told me to pull up to the bay. After I did, he inflated the tire (no charge) and I was on my way again. A little thing but it indicates the kind of people that work here.Service: Tires

I will just count my blessings, that Dave is my mechanic. Honestly you really won'y know what a dentist and a mechanic will do to you. These folks are content with their work, and do their best with what they have. No greed in their blood.

After searching for shops in Va after moving from Chicago, I was highly recommended to Drainsville. They have WOWED me with their expertise... my 72 Grand Prix will only get serviced there!
