Great work at a great price! These guys got my Subaru back up and ready after a previous shop did some bad work. My car hasn t driven this well since I first bought it in 2015. I can t thank you guys enough for the time and attention and quality work!

I had a good experience with what I assume was previous owners about two or three years ago so I decided to take a different vehicle to them in 2023. As a retired 40 year ASE certified master mechanic myself I pride myself on recognizing quality automotive service. After this recent experience I wouldn't trust these guys to change my oil much less any more involved services. My advice is to bypass this business especially if you have no automotive experience.

Barneys is my go to mechanic shop. They are family owned and operated and are always knowledgeable in explaining a vehicle issue or procedure. They are fair in price for service as well. I fully recommend Barneys auto for your mechanical needs.

This is my second time dealing with this business, I had my 2009 Honda Accord taken here for new brake pads, rotors and coilover installation. This is the only business I trust with my car, very trustworthy people and super professional. Brought my Honda s2000 here after having a bad experience at the dealer let me just say I was impressed, My valves were way out of adjustment and had motor noise but the guys here are Barney s were able to get my car back running 100% at a reasonable price and fast turn around a very honest/trustworthy shop +++

2012 Dodge Charger - Had them troubleshoot my battery dying every day (parasitic power draw). They methodically ran power draw tests, isolated the fault and allowed me to choose to fix on my own or have them fix the faulty component. MIGHT WANT TO READ THIS BEFORE COMING HERE-THEY ARE UNPROFESSIONAL ,RUDE AF, AND CHARGE YOU MAD MONEY FOR NOT EVEN FIXING A THING YOU NEED DONE AND THEY STOLE THE PAPER I GOT FROM THE LAST PLACE SAYING WHAT WAS WRONG WITH MY CAR AND LEFT MY CAR WORSE OFF THEN IT ALREADY WAS I didn t pay attention to the bad reviews and the fact that they only got 117 reviews all together for a reason KURK OR KIRT whatever his name is told me to come up there 85$ for a diagnostic I told him and the front desk guy my ac had nothing coming threw out my car and was not blowing cold and that my defroster was not working I have a newborn so I was trying to get it fixed before the summer because obviously I cannot have him in no hot car tell me why they both told me 85$ for the diagnosis and it ll be taken off if I get the work done by them so I m like okay sounds good and affordable so I leave my car there keep in mind my mother is with me the whole time knowing everything that s going on so she takes me home with my newborn leaving my car with them they told me before doing any work they would give me a call then I get a text of a receipt of 234.09 for a dye being put in my car I ve already gotten done before so basically they charged me all that money and didn t do anything at all to fix anything I asked for and because they messed up gone have the nerve to tell me oh we can only go down to 110 that s the most they can do like what 113$ for nothing to be fixed at all then Kurt or Kirk had a hol attitude the Hol time acting like a female for having to do his job that he not even good at gone tell me he been on his back the past two hours like that ain t his job taking my car apart and if I wanted to pick my car up while in pieces I could it won t change his day if I did not have my newborn I would ve called the police or did the absolute most because how u getting smart when both yall slow mechanics told me the wrong information then charged me for not fixing anything at all NOTHING I CAME FOR WAS FIXED THATS EXACTLY WHY THE PLACE LOOK RUN DOWN AND THEY LOOK DEPRESSED WHEN YOU WALK IN SOMETHING TOLD ME DO NOT COME HERE WHEN I NOTICED THE LAST BAD REVIEW RIGHT BEFORE PULLING UP! I will definitely listen to my guy next time COME HERE AT YO OWN RISK MAKE SURE YOU ALWAYS READ BAD REVIEWS THIS WAS THE MOST HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE EVER BUT GOD DONT LIKE UGLY SO I AM NOT WORRIED THEY LOOK EMPTY ALREADY PROBABLY BE CLOSED DOWN SOON ANYWAYS I end up paying the 113 and saying get my put back together now and taking my car to a way better place that u can actually trust and actually like they jobs it s sad having to go threw this they had my car all day I woke up at 6am with a newborn just to go early 8am to make sure it would be done and they kept my car and fixed nothing and tried to keep my car till the next day just to fix nothing like no I picked my car right up cuz no you will not ever play in my face my car shaking and was not doing that before I came there AGAIN MAKE SURE YOU READ BEFORE COMING HERE BECAUSE THE GOOD REVIEWS ARE BEGGED FOR AND OLD AS CAN BE MUSTVE BEEN FOR THE OLD OWNERS!UPDATE: why would I lie I ve gave plenty of places good reviews I came in there with a great attitude thinking you guys were trust worthy telling my mom this place seems like they actually do what needs to be done and if anyone is smart they ll read how ghetto and uneducated u sound in every response you yelled at me cuz u was mad u on your back doing the job your supposed to do and you keep talking about stellar reputation where cuz half your reviews are bad even a retired mechanic put a bad review a month ago .but ure not worth my time continue doing the work you hate thank you

This shop exceeded expectations, were very friendly, gave me a clear diagnosis of what was wrong and my options. Barneys team installed a new 5.7 engine in a timely manner with a very fair price. I m at 8000 miles in with heavy towing miles included and it runs flawlessly. I recommend them to everyone in the hampton area.Service: Engine repairService: Engine repair

Family owned and operated, great service and honest prices. You can't ask for more than that from a repair shop. I've been bringing all my cars to Barney's for years now and I've always been treated well. They've worked on my European, Japanese and North American cars without skipping a beat. I ve been going to Barney s for over 13 years. I ve gotten nothing but 5 star customer service, great prices, and excellent work on all my cars. They are very flexible, family oriented company and will treat you like family. I ve taken cars from my Honda S2000 there to Volkswagens. They can work on any car and you will have the piece of mind knowing it will get fixed right there first time. I always recommend my friends and family to Barney s. Go check them out!

I've been going to Barney's since 2005. They're like family, very honest, and ALWAYS do top notch work. Today I had an engine problem while on my way to work. I called Barney's and even though they were booked with appointments the rest of the week, they squeezed me in. Thank you so much!! All was fixed quickly and perfectly. I have to change my review. I recently paid $100 for an oil change. Reason being, a miscellaneous charge for parts worth $60, in which my receipt showed no explanation of exactly what parts were used. ??? In my previous review I raved about how fair their prices were. I am a bit perplexed this time around. I could have saved money elsewhere. Price gouging is a Huge Negative!Service: Oil change

Great service and fast work. They have performed all the work on my old BMW which is an over engineered and complicated German nightmare. Barney s is always able to fix it right, quick, and for much less than the bmw dealer. I have always been skeptical of auto mechanics and been taken advantage of before. Barney s is always honest and they have restored my faith in mechanics. They will always have my business.

Great Shop, had my valves adjusted on my S2000. They guys not only took care of my baby, they did it in no time. Everyone I dealt with while in the shop was super friendly and very respectful. I send all my S2000 friends to Barney s. You re in good hands when you re at Barney s.

Barney's is the "best of the best"! I have been going there for years and I have always been treated like I was I was someone special. They have very skilled mechanics and they always give you a fair price. I have been ripped off in the past by other repair shops and dealers but you'll never need to worry about that at Barney's. If they say you need something....then you need it!

Barney's is the absolute best auto repair spot in all of Hampton Roads! I've been dealing with them since 2002. Their prices are always awesome, and most importantly, you can trust them!! As a female, that means a lot to me. Sue and Kevin are sweet hearts! Cory (the technician) is very knowledgeable and understands how to work on all makes and models. If you take your business elsewhere, you are making a mistake!!

Barney's is always my go to location for my automotive needs, ive been bringing my personal vehicles here for the past 15 years. Before any work is done they will tell me my problems and corrective actions. Very respectful team and honest, willingness to show me first hand under the car too if necessary.

Didn't start driving till 2004, got a fifteen year old Chevy celebrity. Mr. Barney kept that car going for seven years until I got a Ford fusion in 2011. Whether it was routine maintenance or something more complicated Mr. Barney and his sons have always provided me with excellent service and treated me well. The job was always done right the first time. No other mechanic has ever touched my cars and I'm thankful for their work all these years. Come see for yourself!

Barneys Automotive is Top Notch! These guys are very professional, courteous and help you resolve any problems you have with your car or truck. I took my 1970 Ford F100 show truck to these guys to get a punchlist of maintenance problems resolved and they had it done in a timely manner and stay under my budget. I would recommend these guys for anybody that has a problem big or small these guys are good they take care of you like family!Thank you truly !God bless the USA and it s hard-working people !

Barney's is the real deal, full of helpful, extremely knowledgeable people. Skip the dealerships unless you need recall work done and set an appointment here. You'll get honest assessments and friendly, professional interactions. And if you have an S2000, Cory's the best in the area.

A great family owned auto business with even greater people to deal with. I ve taken my cars there for many years now , ever since I ve owned my s2000 back in 2006. They work on all makes and models and are very knowledgeable. They will take care of you.

I have been a customer of Barney's Auto Repair since February 2011. I have taken everything I've owned since then to him and his sons. My cars included: 2011 Yukon Denali, 1994 Toyota Camry, 2014 Chevy Silverado, 1971 Chevy Chevelle, 2021 Sierra 3500 Dually, 1968 Dodge Charger, and a 2006 Ford E350 Econoline. There is a reason why I keep going back. I was treated as FAMILY since day 1! Barney is a fair and sweet man. He and his wife (including his sons Corey and Curtis) has had my back. They have gone overboard in ensuring that my cars were fixed, and they educated me on auto mechanisms and systems at the same time. They've gone overboard for me on a number of occasions. Called him up with an emergency when I botched my own repair job and they worked me in right away. Charged way less than I was expecting and didn't try to sell me on a bunch of things I didn't need. Real straight shooter, very friendly, and they know their stuff. Actually a truly honest shop. Excellent experience, Barney's will be my first choice from here out.
