Getting the car's required yearly safety inspection was very easy at this service station. The mechanic was busy, but I did mind the wait due to the fact that this was the last day of the month to get it done.

This review is very specifically for the car wash. I needed a quick solution to get the road salt/snow film off my car and was nearby, so I decided to run through. I went for the highest tier of wash that didn't include wax.I knew the wash wouldn't get everything but I was really pleasantly surprised by how clean my car was after. There are a few spots that are always problem spots even when washing by hand, but overall the wash did a great job. If you don't expect this wash to work miracles, it's pretty solid.

We've been using this Shell since 2000 and I think in the late 90's. I would rate it a 5 star for inspection and if they find something wrong then something is wrong. Honest dealership and after my latest inspection (5 different cars in over 20 years) we continue to come here for this and also repairs if needed.

I just had my fleet vehicle in for repair that it was a great experience. Dale was very helpful and super quick to address my concerns and followed up with my in less that a few hours. It was fixed in less than 24 hours and on top of that both of his sons were very helpful in dropping me off and picking me up to retrieve my vehicle.

Price gouging for the cigars. They sell a nine dollar patron thousand series for almost $13 then add another 25% on top of that when you check out almost $16 for an economic price cigar that s ridiculous.

I have been a customer of yours for eight years. The cash counter staff and the inspector have always been pleasant and kind. However, the owner or whoever occupies the Mechanical desk is consistently rude and unpleasant. It is important to respond to customer inquiries, even if they seem trivial, with kindness. This demonstrates basic courtesy, which the owner appears to lack significantly. In conclusion, I regret to inform you that you have lost a loyal customer.

Dale has always been forthright and honest. I ve never doubted his or his people s integrity. I don t go for small talk or chit chatting- I go for honest and professional service- and I always get it. I will continue to bring my vehicles to Dale as I know what I m getting. Damn hard to find a good mechanic.

Dale and his staff have consistently and professionally provided top quality service on our vehicles. My wife had paid for Merceds Benz service at the dealership. Once the service contract expired, we went to Gateway Shell. They were faster, easier to schedule and much less expensive. Highly recommend!!

Wow I see why their ratings are so low. I just got off the phone with Dale to ask about emissions testing. He quickly named the days and times and hung up! I had an additional question, but he promptly hung up before I could even ask him. He s very very rude. I m so glad I called first before wasting my time to go there. I hope you don t waste your time there either. I wouldn t Even let them change my oil. Because if they don t give a darn about their customers, then you best believe they won t care about your car either

I had a blowout in the morning and called Dale and he was extremely accommodating and ordered a tire immediately. Not only did he order the tire, he had it delivered right after lunch time and had the tire on my vehicle within a few hours. He and his team replaced the tire almost as fast as a NASCAR pit crew. I highly recommend Dale and his team for your tire emergencies as well as any of your automotive needs - he and his team are professional automotive experts!

PSA!Do not listen to any of the negative reviews on here, Dale and his team, from the front counter to the mechanics in the shop are all of excellence. I ve been coming here for years and have never had a problem. From ordering and installing stock/aftermarket parts to just coming the get gas or an inspection. They care about each and every customer/clients experience here. Need to walk in NO PROBLEM! Need to make an appointment, NO PROBLEM! Also from my experience with my 2012 Dodge Charger, my 2017 Ram, and even my 2006 Lexus SUV. They always get the job done, and the prices are always fair. Thank you Dale and team!

I come here for mechanical work on my wife and my vehicles and highly recommend Dale and his team for any repair and maintenance. The ultimate reason is plain, direct, and honest communication between Dale and myself. The first time I came in I went and talked to him about inspections, things other mechanics do that I don t like, and that I was looking for in a mechanic. He made some pretty valid points and ultimately we found safety and vehicle maintenance are the points we agree on the most.I may see some of the other viewers complaints about masks, or attitudes, or not having a happy experience as understandable, but I come here to know my vehicle is safe to drive and reliable to transport my family. Dale delivers and does so with no nonsense, and I really respect that.Also, the shop has a lot of great things to look at while you wait. I am really happy with this shop and recommend to anyone truly interested in keeping your vehicles in top notch mechanical condition.

I went back today for another flat and was in and out in 10 odd minutes, Dale had a team member work right-away on my vehicle, filled my spare and re-attached it, a little complicated for me on a Toyota Sienna as it is underneath, All for a very reasonable price. Dale is still the best IMO.1/27/2023=========Dale is Awesome, I had a flat and he had it fixed in 10 minutes on a busy Saturday morning.I went back for oil change yesterday and got the same service.this is a great clean store.Ask for Dale and he will make sure that you and your vehicle are taken care of. He is upfront,precise and to the point.

I needed a safety inspection and oil change and called to see if they were busy. Dale told me to come right in because there was no one in line. Such a nice guy who had us in and out! My total wait time was maybe 30 min. I had my kids ages 2, and 5 with me who both had to go to the bathroom and to my surprise it was super super clean! You may think it s dumb to mention this on a review of a service station but to Moms, it matters!!! I will definitely be back.

A couple days ago I had a flat tire. Dale told me to drop it off and would have it done the next day which was great. He ended up getting it done in just a few hours so I was able to pick it up the same day. I always go to this shell station for our cars. I am a stay at home mom with two little kids, so whenever I have to get oil changes and routine work done, I have to bring them with me. They always make sure to get my car done as quickly as possible which I appreciate so much. They have a nice waiting area and put on cartoons when they notice I have the kids with me. They are great people.

If you are looking for an honest garage, this is the place. Dale runs a straight up honest business with fair rates and honest assessment of your automobile issues. I have brought my 2007 Toyota Sienna to him for both major and minor work. Today I brought it in with vague issues. Oil drops and rattles. We are preparing for an 1100 mile drive. He checked it out, put clamps on the heat shield, assured me the oil I was seeing was not a major issue and put a watch on it. He could have easily convinced me it was $1000 of necessary work and at this point I d have believed him, but he s not like that. He doesn t take advantage of people. Honest men get repeat customers. I m a repeat customer. He also does Virginia inspection. Honest, not easy (meaning if you don t pass because you aren t safe, don t expect to pass).

The guy Dale, that runs the automotive section, has to be one of the unhappiest people I have ever come in contact with. He s not only rude but goes out of his way to be that way. When I asked if I could schedule a tire rotation and oil change. He s like why? is there something wrong with your car? And when I told him that I didn t want my car to be left all day for a simple oil change or tire rotation, he proceeds to tell me that it would be kept all day and an appointment would not help and goes into some strange analogy about a doctors visit when I just had to tell him goodbye and hung up. Avoid this place if you can they re no better than Virginia tire and auto.

Had some work done on my truck and it was great. Dale took time to explain the issues, the options and the upsides/downsides. Work was done really fast and much cheaper than the dealer. I feel very good about having the work done and will be returning soon for some more work that I put off at the time.

I'll start by saying that in the past I have used this service center without any problems. So, when I found a small tear in the side of my tire, resulting in a slow leak, I purchased a pair of new tires and drove over there to have them mounted, balanced, and installed. As I was explaining what I wanted, I was cut off and asked if I bought the tires off the rack. I told him that I ordered them new online. At this time he said he had no interest in doing the work for me because he wasn't making any money off the tires and it wasn't worth his time (and the risk of damage to the rims) to mount and balance the tires for $20 per wheel, and that no other place would do it either. Just wanting to get the problem fixed, I even offered to pay extra and asked how much he would make on the tires. His response was that it was none of my business, but that he wasn't interested in doing the work for me. At this point, I couldn't believe this conversation was taking place. I even had to ask if he was kidding. He said no, he's in business to make money, and if he's not making money on the tires that it's not worth his time. He then told me I could go to a used tire place down the road a bit, and that they might do it for me. Completely stunned by this ordeal, I left the premises. I didn't bother going to the used tire place. I decided to go to Sears instead. My first question was would they mount, balance and install tires that were not purchased through them. Their answer was yes. So, I had it done right there while I waited (took less than an hour). I told this story to the guys at Sears, they couldn't believe it either. Later that day, I decided to call up some other places and ask the question. I called three other gas station service centers in the area, and Walmart, and Pep Boys. Every one of them said they would mount, balance, and install tires not purchased through them. So, I'm not sure what the exact problem was with the guy at Shell Gateway, but it seems that he's the exception rather than the norm. Whatever the problem is, however, I won't be going back there for any future work. If my car breaks down in front of their service center, I'll pay to have it towed to a place that I can trust.

The 2 stars is mainly for the car wash and the experience I had with the guy (who's name I did not get) working inside this evening (Thursday). My car wash code did not work, I called inside to let him know, he told me he'd have to check to be sure is was not a used code, which it was not! He told me it showed as used on the day the gas was purchased. I did not use it then, nor did anyone else! we went back and fourth a bit as he told me what the computer said. Long story short, I called the owner, Dale, (as I was quite annoyed because I was not wrong on this) and he told me the next time I come in I should ask for him to receive the car wash I was cheated out of. Those are my words not his. He actually sounded quite annoyed and did not even say goodbye, just hung up. That car wash DOES not accept codes that are not used the day of the purchase! This has been an issued more then once with my husband and myself. I've gotten the washes there because it's convenient and it works well (for cleaning that is). I certainly will not now, especially after this experience! Gateway Shell really should get this issue fixed if they care at all about their customers, which I kinda doubt but that's just me! Sorry it's such a long review. This is a short version of what I really wanted to post.

They could be the best mechanics on the planet. Shouting "what do you want" at a prospective customer across the parking lot in unfriendly tone and telling them they are in the wrong spot in a curt way. Didn't win me over. Went somewhere with better customer service.

These guys are very rude. Avoid this place at all cost. My wife went to get gas. She went inside and purchased $20 of gas, but the pump shut off at $12.85. When she went back in to ask why the pump shut off early the cashier verbally attacked her and told her she gave him he wrong amount. But her receipt clearly showed $20. The cashier got so hostile that 2 other customers had to step in and tell him to knock it off. I hate to think what would have happened if my wife had went in alone. The cashier needs to be fired. We will never go back to this location again and especially if you are a woman I would suggest for your safety if you do go there don't go alone.

18 year old female with little experience with under the hood of cars, already a recipe for disaster. I had been fighting my car for about a week trying to get an inspection done and finally thought I had everything right. New brake discs and pads with new tires as well. The guy who did my inspection (unfortunately can't remember his name) told me that I could go back to where I had gotten it done to get the rejection sticker taken off instead. At that point I was already at the Shell and fought with it enough and was tired of driving around with a rejection sticker, as well as the gamble if the previous inspection place even had an open spot for today, so I told him I'd just pay the $20 again because I had assumed it would have passed anyway. Ten minutes into waiting in the lobby, the guy comes out and does a small "come here" hand gesture to me, clearly not happy to be bringing me back. He pointed out to me that I had a nail in my tire and failed me for the inspection again. He didn't offer to patch it or anything, and charged me the $20 and sent me on my way. He was very short with me and rather rude, and I did not appreciate being spoken to as if I was a waste of time. Will not be returning.

DON T get your inspection done here. Mechanic told my my steering pump and rack were leaking and needed to be replaced. All I did was clean them off, take it back, and it passed. They will try to scam you into paying for work you don t need. Edit because of response from owner: They are not leaking. I added fluid and cleaned them the day that I failed inspection, 1/07, waited an entire week until yesterday, and the fluid level remained full and no new fluid/dirt appeared on the pump or rack. The grime on there that you though indicated a leak is all over the under carriage, it s an 18 year old car. It s not going to be squeaky clean

I went in to buy a drink just so I could break a $20 for change to put air in my rental. The lady at the register was so friendly and even offered to break my change without me having to buy anything. (True customer service!!) I struggled putting air in my tire as it was an electrical kind... automatic beeps when your tire is full. I thought the beeps meant it was done giving me air. Well anyway long story short, the lady who as at the register asked a guy in the service part to help me. He did gladly with a smile as I stood embarrassed for not being able to do it on my own. What great customer service!!

DO NOT TRUST THIS PLACE! Money hungry owner.Clearly, after my few experiences and after reading other reviews, the owner of this establishment is only driven by making money and not helping his customers. It seems he is driven by selling tires (among other things I'm sure), as this is a common theme with my and other customers experiences. I most recently had vibrating in my vehicle while braking and at high speeds. I was able to get the dealership to fix the braking issue, as the pads and rotors all needed work done. I still had vibrating at high speeds though so took it here to get the tires balanced. After 20 minutes of waiting, the owner came out to me (while they were currently in the middle of doing the work) and told me "well, you just wasted 80$...." then proceeded to tell me that the tires on my vehicle were garbage (geotour n/t) and were most likely the cause of the vibration. He told me they would finish balancing them and it MIGHT fix my issue but he assumed it wouldn't and that I would need to replace the tires (which MIGHT have 10k miles on them, and look to be in great shape ((bought the vehicle only 1 month ago, used)). He then, conveniently, offered to sell me the tires from there, should I decide to go that route. I left and the vibration i WAS experiencing at high speed is gone, but (and not sure if Im just paranoid), I now seem to have a VERY slight wobbling. Will post back with an update to that. Aside from that, another experience I had was exactly the same as another customer review, where I was told by the same guy, that it was not worth his time to mount and balance a new tire. To sum it up, it is VERY CLEAR, that this owner is motivated by the wrong things for running a service business. I understand it IS a business, but this seems like a prime candidate for a place that likes to take advantage of people based on the owners hunger for making a buck. PROCEED WITH CAUTION. I would advise only buying gas at this place. I'd like to tell the owner, if he reads these.....You need to reevaluate your business model. You are 1 of the main shops in this gainesville area. People come to places like yours for professional advice and services. If you continue to run a shady business, you will not last long, as you will quickly lose the trust of all those that keep your business up and running. Word of mouth travels very quickly these days, so if you don't change whats wrong, things will take care of themselves.
