So I called ahead and spoke to Kevin who assured me they could fit me in that day because of how concerned I was about the vehicle.Wendy is absolutely amazing. She took her time, answered all my questions and was so friendly and polite to every person that came through. My car ended up needing way more help, so Wendy gave me a loaner vehicle which was a life saver. The Auto Tech, Jack, is just simply wonderful. I could over hear him mention how I had been waiting for my diagnosis for a while, so he came out and explained everything, answered every question I had without getting irritated or annoyed, rather I got the impression he genuinely cared and wanted to help me. And that was proven even more so when I got my quote for the work I needed done. He made sure to give me any resource and assure me they can help take care of me, and they absolutely did.I will continue to come here for any car related issues. I trust them, they re friendly, easy to be around when you have to wait a few hours, and the work speaks for itself.Thank you Wendy, Jack, and everyone there at Doc Auto Chatham

I am not one to go out of my way to write a review but I feel it is a public service I warn others of this place. I made 3 separate trips to DOC Auto in as many months and am embarrassed to admit how much I was taken for.My first trip was due to a brake warning light that resulted in (just about) everything related to the brakes being replaced at the exorbitant cost of $5k.My second trip was the result of my car dying on my commute to work the week before Christmas. The end result was spark plugs, ignition coils, and a fuel cleaning for the price of $1600, only after I inquired for an itemized bill and apparently caught a 'software glitch' on their end that reduced the price a few hundred dollars. This should have been the final straw but it was right before the holidays and they knew they had me.Then my third and final trip occurred to get my car inspected. I figured what could be the problem, they've already replaced enough stuff on the car I should be in and out. I also asked them if they could look into some brake noise that had been present ever since my first trip where they were replaced, assuming it would be under warranty and I would go on with my day. I get a call back saying the car failed inspection and it would be $1200 to replace literally the only thing they hadn't already replaced (the front calipers). It really sank in how much I was getting robbed when I took my car back and went elsewhere. The very next day I went to another shop and the car passed inspection with no issues. Still not satisfied with the brake noise however I went elsewhere again and the resulting fix as the mechanic said was replacing the 'cheap brake pads', for which my brakes are now squeak-free for a mere $145.Bottom line if you are in need of car repair I would strongly advise looking elsewhere than risk being taken advantage of like I was.

I had an unpleasant experience with Doc Auto. I brought my car for engine misfire diagnosis and they asked me to sign the documents and make the payment. I was of course expecting that they will do the check up and give me the report, however, they stopped the check up process at the very first step and asked me to replace a coil otherwise they cannot complete the check up.They gave me a quote 3 times higher than the market rate so I went and replaced it at another place.I came back and the guy was not there and they asked me to come tomorrow. Really??? I went there the next day and they found another issue that I had to fix so they could continue with the diagnosis process. Can you believe??? They wasted 1 and a half days of my time just for one small diagnosis that could be completed in less than an hour. They still could not tell me what was the reason for the misfire.Unprofessional people and just trying to take your money. I will never go there again and I do not recommend to anyone.

I have a 2006 Scion XB with 120K miles that is starting to show signs of wear. I brought it in to Doc Auto to get a quote on several issues and left it with the very friendly, professional woman who runs the front end of the business. A day or so later, I got an estimate for a whole range of issues. At first I was taken aback by the $5,000.00 estimate, but then realized that the mechanic who did the inspection was very thorough, and found several issues that I didn't know about. He provided me with a very detailed estimate with photos and explanations for each issue. He explained that all of the issues were important, but not necessarily urgent. He did acknowledge that the Scion was a good car and I could justify putting the money towards its improvement, but never was pushy or insistent about doing the work. I have decided that rather than investing 5K in my car, I am going to start looking for a replacement. They completely respected my decision, and didn't charge me a thing for the very comprehensive inspection and estimate. They didn't get my business this time, but when something does break they surely will. 5 stars for doing business the right way!

Dropped car off on Friday around 3 for a diagnostics test. Dropped by Saturday since we hadn't heard anything and needed to grab somethimg from car, wasn't moved, stopped in again on Monday mid day car was just moved in the bay, finally received a call 330, with an astronomical quote for repairs. Took car to another shop just now and received a call back within the same hour of dropping it off with a quote that is a quarter of what the were trying to take us for. Would not recommend this place to anyone. People need thier cars if your to buisy let the customer know, don't just sit on it

They're a bit unprofessional, took 4 yr old vehicle for emissions test. They did not advise it failed just had us pay and handed the paper work. In reading it there were some estimate of different costs, in reviewing that's how i discovered it failed. Had a failure code listed. Managed to Google it in less than a minute for full description of issue. Called them to schedule an appointment after discovering the information on the invoice. My gut feeling was something was off since they didn't say it failed and all of a sudden my engine light was on. Thankfully I didn't feed into their description of needing to find out the problem, canceled the appointment. Took it to the dealership instead for a completely free repair. They were going to charge me for a service that the manufacturer had a recall on and covered at 100%, would've paid them to fix as well. Saved me the $220 they wanted to charge to "deep dive the code" not to mention who knows how much the repair itself. Will not be using in the future.Service: Auto emissions testing

J.. at the front desk was really nice. She texted me with notable concerns and when my car was done. When I asked if recommendations needed to be done immediately she didn't try to sell me that it does. She politely explained the issues and then provided options that empowered me to make a decision. They have military discounts which saved me 37-47 dollars that brought the cost from 600 to the 500s..(repair axel) which was high but fixable. I appreciated her advice and excellent customer service.

Doc Auto is amazing!! I stopped by today for my state inspection though it was rejected, they gave me a very thorough list of what needed to be done to pass, and even a few suggestions separate from the inspection. Wendy at the front desk was very kind and helpful. I will definitely be back! Service: Vehicle InspectionService: Vehicle Inspection

I needed transmission work and brought my car here. The reviews gave me a sense of security and I thought this was going to be a great place to get work done. No. PRICES FOR SERVICES AT THE BOTTOM.I requested for an appointment over the phone. The man took my name and number and said alright. I dropped my vehicle off and it took them 2 days to look at my vehicle. Requesting an appointment is pointless. They were great with communication. They made sure to call every time any work needed to get done. Now, here comes the biggest side-eye. Cost. I was quoted 12,000 for what I thought was just transmission work. As I'm looking over my paper work, I realized that the transmission work was actually 8,514 not 12,000. They tacked on extra work I never requested. The services they added on wereBrake pads and rotors - 1,172Transaxle assembly - 8,514 (what I asked for)Pinpoint inspection for ABS light 221Shock/strut assembly 1,923.The service advisor or whoever failed to disclose this. He was going to charge me for services I didn't ask for or was known about. Very Shady!I payed 836.41 for a battery and labor and no work to my transmission.

My husband and I have lived in Fredericksburg for close to 5 years, and have taken our cars to multiple different mechanics/auto shops over these past few years. This DOC Auto has become our new go to place to take our cars. It s a little more expensive than the places we had been going, BUT the thoroughness and quality of service are absolutely worth it. They ve given us so much peace of mind with repairs and inspections, and were more than willing to take a look at a used car that we d purchased to make sure that everything was in good working order. We appreciate their honesty and integrity so much, and are very thankful that we were referred to them!

Out of town, and 1000 miles from home, my Jeep GC overheated and threatened to ruin our Christmas trip to visit our son who is stationed at Quantico. After reviewing numerous favorable comments about DOC Auto I called them in the early morning. Stephanie answered and took the information about my breakdown. She offered to arrange a tow if needed and promised they d look at the car that day if I could get it to them.Within a period of less than 24 hours I received no less than three phone calls from Stephanie, advising of their diagnosis and several updates on the needed repairs and ongoing work.I picked up my Jeep the next morning, it having been professionally repaired and sanitized. The mechanic personally spoke with me and answered my questions.I was extremely impressed with the prompt attention to service, the cleanliness of their service bay and the professional manner in which the entire repair process unfolded.I can t say enough about the outstanding experience I had in dealing with DOC Auto. I only wish they were local to my home town.Overall, outstanding!Doug MartynFL

Very dis-honest and unethical. They replaced my brakes less than a year ago.Having major issues due to them putting brakes on wrong. Took it back and they charged me $224 for just accessing my vehicle and told me it was $3200 to fix it due to all the damage.Service: BrakesService: Brakes

I used DOC Auto today for the first time. I got a routine emissions inspection. I was very impressed by the courtesy, professionalism, and pleasant demeanor of the employee working the front counter. She was pleasant to me in person and I also heard her on the phone with other customers in the morning and later that afternoon. She was courteous and professional with them too. I was impressed with how I was treated and will definitely give them another opportunity to service my vehicle next time it needs it.Service: Emissions testing

The gentlemen were honest, efficient, and even attached a broken heat shield for me (the result of a low car on PR mountain roads) free-of-charge. Best of all I was able to be seen last-minute, as I was going out of town a few hours later. I highly recommend DOC Auto for their fantastic service and pride in what they do!

Worst place to get state inspections done. The inspectors will pick your car apart. I went there and my vehicle failed so I fixed everything they told me was wrong, even went and got my vehicle alignment done at a Firestone because I changed the suspension that they failed. I then went back and they failed it again, because my wheels had a slight camber.Service: Vehicle Inspection

I had service at the Courthouse Rd. location. I was on a long drive home alone, arrived on a Friday night to VA., experienced noise under my car, was very worried for my safety, went online and saw great reviews for this place. I called and after, they kindly and professionally managed to get me in on short notice on a Saturday. I was told my ball bearing was bad and dangerous. Was grateful to get it fixed but was costly at $415. I still heard noise on ride home and after. Had it looked at again at home and the same bearing was bad. No new control arm was put in and bearing was wobbly. Had to get a whole new one plus control arm put in. Called them and I was told if I went to a "network tech" of theirs, they could send me a new part that way as a warranty honor. My car was already taken apart and needed immediate attention and repair! They wouldn't give any financial compensation. I was very disappointed in this poor quality repair and response after feeling I was in good hands. I paid twice for this. Watch out if you are passing through town for a repair here!!

Doc Auto is the place where all of our cars have been serviced and maintained for decades. From oil and filter changes, tires & tough troubleshooting (a 1994 Pontiac with fuel injection issues that the dealer could not fix). Fair price and excellent service.

I had a wonderful experience. I didnt have to way too long, they were all very friendly and welcoming. After getting my emissions done they then wiped down my car and vacuumed it out and left this cute little box with fortune cookies in it which I thought was funny and kinda nice. Before I got to DOC auto my low tire pressure light went on and I planned on filling my tires after my test, but the nice gentleman testing my car was kind enough to fill my tires for me which I was so thankful for.Definitely recommend for great customer service and speedy tests done to all your vehicles

Never had an issue with the people that actually work on my car.. but the front desk women have been the worst.. twice now that I have called the day before to confirm and make sure I was good to go for the following morning.. both times the front desk has told me sorry can't make it work.. this is after finding a ride.. giving them drop off times... getting 3 kids figured out with where they need to go.. and getting a ride for pickup. Won't ever use this place again.. Brauning automotive.. down the street at cool springs rd was VERY accommodating and took my car when this place dropped the ball.. highly recommended! Front desk is very friendly and nice as well.
