This has been long over due but really just wanted to give Altered Components a well deserved review. Many shops have been reluctant to take on some of the challenges that come with a modified Porsche Cayenne turbo on a 5 inch lift built to overland. However, the guys at Altered components were more than willing to take a look at my vehicle and perform the work. I had gotten my CV axle, upper control arm ball joints replaced and a few months ago an oil change.Josh is great in answering questions and has a wealth of knowledge with cars, especially VWs. Thankfully for me the older Cayenne model has some of the similarities of the Touareg. A perfectionist at his craft.Mike is the same, a true car enthusiast who is engaging and willing to help. There were a few times after install Mike came by to check on the vehicle for certain noises and concerns, only to determine it was something else.Modified cars you deal with modified issues lol. Looking forward to taking on future projects and maintenance with these guys.

I had an amazing experience at altered components. Josh and the team are wonderful, honest, and very knowledgeable group of individuals. I will be taking my GTI to them from now on. Only people I trust. Thanks again guys!

I got a bevy of things installed. Stage 3 clutch, springs, sway bar, down pipe, intercooler and some other miscellaneous items. Josh was very upfront about the availability and time frame the work would take. He got everything done for me for a very competitive rate and I actually took the car to the track the next day and it held up great (the ultimate test!)Services: Exhaust, Electrical, Brakes

Josh and his wife are friendly and fun, getting my VW worked on was more like hanging out at someone s house rather than at a shop. My VW got a new clutch and some additional goodies and he did a fantastic job, and his quotes are way better than what any of the name brand shops want. If you have a VW (or any car that he can work on), I HIGHLY recommend asking for a quote. It might seem like it s off the beaten path from the DC suburbs, but really, it s only 30-45 mins from Lorton

All the good reviews they get are legit. They are upfront about everything and I won't be taking my car anywhere else, this is now my car mechanic for the rest of my 2003 Volkswagen GTI's future. Thank you so much for keeping my car on the roads!!

Josh @Altered Components is literally the best place you could bring your vehicle to. I have had nothing but positive experiences every time I bring my car to his shop. He is incredibly knowledgeable and extremely patient. He explains everything to you before you show up, while you drop your car off, and after he completes the work. I would recommend this shop to every single person who owns a vehicle. Thank you Josh, keep up the great work!

I had heard about Josh and Altered Components through several friends in Charlottesville. After buying my Fiat 500 Abarth, I quickly realized there was noone around that was willing to work on it. All said it required to much to do. I ended up doing most of the work myself but thought I would ask Josh if he was willing to replace the clutch and throw out bearing. He quickly obliged and quoted me. Dropped it off, couple days later, done! He even adjusted the quote because he completed it faster than expected. Honest dude. You can look at the plethora of 5 start reviews and see his reputation. He lives up to it for sure. Best around!Service: Auto maintenance

Hands down the best customer service. The owner is highly skilled with lots of experience. I asked around to find out where the best shop to bring my Audi would be. 5/5!I highly recommend Altered Components when I need anything done to my vehicle. Josh is a very professional, knowledgeable and friendly technician. He was able to diagnose my issue and take the steps to resolve the issues as soon as possible.I went in and asked Josh to diagnose a steering/clunking issue, and Josh was able to figure out that the steering rack on my 2019 VW MK7.5 GTI was going bad. He was able to price me out the parts/labor and was able to fix the issue with no hiccups!Josh was also very communicative and orient with me while I was trying to describe my issues as well.Overall, I'd highly recommend bringing your European car here for any service that is needed. Josh was awesome he was aware that I was getting ready to take my car across country towing a trailer behind it. He took the time to make sure everything on my car was good to go and working properly. I highly recommend Altered Components if you need work on your car. Josh knows what he doing and he does it very well and takes pride in his work. And lady's just a heads up you do not get a attitude when you take your car to him he explains what he is doing and why he is doing it which is so rare that I had to mention it. I have had Josh work on my car several times and he definitely knows what he is doing. Not only is he quick, he also gets the job done right and his prices are hard to beat! His service is top notch and he's also a great guy. If you need any maintenance done or need some mods installed on your VW or Audi, this should be the only shop to consider.

I took my vehicle in for a pretty large service request. (Engine needed to be dropped) I could not recommend Josh and his services more! Very detailed in all of his work and takes the time to make sure everything is functioning the way it is intended. Josh at Altered Components is the best guy to work on your car hands down. I have a MK6 GTI and I had my clutch upgraded, rear main seal upgraded, did a timing chain tensioner revision, and full turbo-back exhaust installed. Not only did he do amazing quality work but also had an amazing turnaround! Not to mention being fully transparent with everything being done and giving me updates along the way! Great guy and great shop! Recommend 100% to anyone in the DMV area.

I would highly recommend Altered Components for any Volkswagen or Audi repair, modifications, etc. Rest assured, your car is in good hands with Josh. He's meticulous and is very knowledgeable about these cars. His prices are very fair and he stands by his work. Even though I'm an hour away, I'm more than happy to make the trip to Altered to get my car fixed right the first time.

I had multiple performance upgrades installed on my Mk7.5. Lowering springs, flush kit for the wheels, rear sway bar, bleeder block, clutch hose, shifter bushings, short shift kit, downpipe, turboback exhaust, a stage 2 clutch, and a bunch of other small parts. Not only did Josh do a perfect install, he had it done in one day, at a price no one else I took the car could match. Extremely personable, pleasant, and super car savvy. I will only bring my car to him for service or upgrades from this point on, even though he's almost a 3 hour drive from me. Would recommend to any of my friends or family. Thanks team at Altered Components!!!

Josh was very knowledgeable with specialized audi repairs. Even when he made a small mistake he was quick to correct it and honest in his work. His prices are also very reasonable!I drove an hour for his service and have no regrets!

I've known Josh (the owner of Altered Components) for about a year now. Since I've met him and seen his work, he's been the only one who I allow to work on my car. He does some of the best and cleanest work I've ever seen. Quality and attention to detail are apparent in every job. The aftermarket part installs are works of art, and the repairs and maintenance will have you questioning whether somebody was ever working under there. Whether you are a car enthusiast or not, the end product Altered Components will provide you is simply awe striking.

Josh goes above and beyond to ensure quality work at a reasonable cost. The best air ride installer in all of DMV, if you want things done right the first time, you're at the right place! Also recently went here for a turbo back install on my S6, needless to say I will not be going anywhere else.
