Attention manager:On February 20, 2023Around 7:00 p.m. I tried to fill my car with gas but something with the pump wasn't working (??)so I went inside where the Latina girl employee behind the plexiglass was no help at all.She was on her cell phone playing a video game while I was standing in the lobby asking for helpshe wouldn't even look up!!I kept asking for help and she was more interested in her cell phone game than to assist a customer!!I was so frustrated I shook my head and left taking my business elsewhere! I've been in customer service my entire life and thought if that's an example of their customer service then my family will no longer give this Shell our businessPlease look into this and address the problems. Thank youUPDATE ********* 6 months laterIt took 6 months to get a response from the owner/management of this Shell station Yorktown PlazaI reported the problem back inDecember 2023I still can't believe it took 6 months to respond..After waiting half of a year for some kind of response, the management still did not address the numerous problems reported.Read it, just a few short words that were dismissive and disingenuous, adding more aggravation.I would suggest goingANYWHERE ELSE for gasto avoid the guaranteed problems and frustrations.Even if the price is twice as much down the streetIt will be well worth it

Out of eight gas pumps, three are out of order and several of the others require you to pay inside prior to pumping. The station attendants and management seem to have no plan to fix this and offer no apologies for the inconvenience.

Beautiful gas station with nice clean restrooms , brand new gas pumps that take Apple Pay outside as well , reasonable prices and a great locationAlso easy and out

The new manager of the autoshop and the new mechanics were awesome!! I recently hit a block of ice and my bumper fell out but they were able to put it together and smooth the dents out in 30 minutes. I have never been to a mechanic who charged so honestly for the job. He also made sure that everything else was intact and even checked the level of fluids. They were very organized, efficient, and fairly priced (I would say a lot less than other places by comparison) that from now on, I will only be trusting them with my car.

I was truly impressed with the level of competence and customer service by the new manager and master mechanic Keving Hwang.I took my BMW to Yorktown Shell with a bit of hesitancy as I always had biased towards independent auto repair shops to work on high-end German cars. I tried a few of the larger auto repair shops that specialize in European cars but the only reason for avoiding the dealers was due to cost. Kevin was highly recommended by several friends who now drive Uber and they could not stop gushing about about good Kevin was at fixing cars for reasonable prices. So, I took a chance and took my senior citizen 2007 BMW 5 series to Kevin and I expected a huge bill as the car needed major repairs. I drive the car intermittently also prior to taking the car in when the radiator decided to go Mt. St. Helens on me. I needed new brakes, new radiator or radiator fix, new tires and I also had problem with engine misfire- a potentially a death sentence for a car with. 175k miles on it. Kevin told me immediately that it would take at least a week or more in order to fix the car to be a reliable and fun car. This old BMW drives better than most new ones due to its special suspension. So I was willing to spend some serious money to fix everything.Long story short, it took ten days and the car runs almost like new. Kevin sent me the photos of all the work that needed to be done. Tires, brakes, radiator, emission failure, engine issues, tires, etc. His work vastly exceeded my expectations. Car drive like it should and the total repair bill was about half of what I expected-especially compared to the dealers. Kevin is also a certified Virginia emissions expert and he was able to fix the reason for my car failing Virginia emissions. Inspection. His expertise proved to be a huge money saver and I m truly in debt for his honest and master professionalism. I recommend Kevin totally. He is as good or better than any mechanic I have ever met in my life. I land I have met many mechanics and dealers as I m a 62 year old car enthusiast.My great experience with Yorktown Shell and Kevin Hwang is a very unique one when it comes to automobile repairs.Guess who is my go-to guy for my cars? I ve never done reviews or anything like this to all service oriented businesses I run before but this time I would like to share my thoughts and opinion about my experience for this shop!I don t want to be specific about what service I need to be done to my vehicle that time. Just like some other people Instead of fixing it on my own I don t have luxury of time to do it so I just rather pay and get done with it!I know mechanics shop industry is always carry bad reputations and for me I want to try their service since it s so close for where I live at!When I went to their shop I decided to play DUMB and don t know exactly anything about car and see how will they respond! And I m right after initial check up they told me they cannot fix it instead they give me other option which it doesn t make sense at all plus they will charge me $ for their option that nothing help at all to solve my problem !of course I declined.I made this review not the intention to bad mouth this gas station but instead help some future clients and customer if they will decided to use this shop! Just find something that really have good reviews or even you pay top dollar but it s really worth it!This business have no ability to hire good mechanics instead I called them only parts changer!If a business had no ability to pay good money basic sense you cannot hire good mechanics too because they will work somewhere else. All you can have is all left over low quality workers that instead helping you out it will Sucking up your wallet, give you more stress, no courtesy at all! And just overall giving you a BAD SERVICE!

I am extremely happy with their service! I have been taking my car there for the past three years, but mainly for inspections and emissions as my car, to date hasn't really had any issues. Most recently, as a huge storm is approaching, my windshield wipers broke. Not only did they quickly order the parts, he stayed an hour past closing to make sure it was fixed and I would be safe to drive. The price was reasonable. Fabulous service!

They did a good job with my car inspection, but they recommended that my brake pads and rotors needed to be replaced. They had been replaced recently (within 2 years on a car that I drive minimally), so I brought it into another mechanic for a second opinion. The figure they quoted for the repair was reasonable, but the second opinion stated that neither the brakes or brake pads were in need of replacing. I'd recommend this place for inspections only, but I would advise getting a second opinion on diagnostic and repair needs.

SUMMARY: We paid $250 to Midas to find that the $3000 we paid Yorktowne Shell for earlier work on the brakes did NOT include closing all the brake bleeder valves.Yorktowne Shell quoted us $1600 for an error in earlier work they did on my brakes (that earlier job cost us almost $3000 to complete). After having issues with my brakes again, the shop told us to come in and that they would fix any errors with their work for free. Of course, when the time came, they told me that their work was perfect, but that some other, unrelated parts had started failing. Since these included parts that should have lasted another 5-6 years, we started getting suspicious that these people weren't telling us everything.Instead, we took it next-door to Midas, which charged us two hours+ of labor to find that a brake fluid bleeder valve in the rear right side had been left unclosed. We paid $250 to Midas to find that the $3000 we paid Yorktowne Shell for earlier work on the brakes did NOT include closing all the bleeder valves.You can see the other reviews on here have a general trend. My family has been going to this place for almost 8 years, and these reviews accurately reflect our feelings with this place. This place will get the work you ask for done on-time, which is about all that it has going for it, and if you're a long-time customer they'll see how to reduce labor parts. That said, they overcharge on parts by a lot. They also will add in small things you don't ask for like state inspections, even if your car was inspected a month ago. Though I don't know much about cars, it seemed to me like these people were always trying to get new parts coming in, and never tried to work with what was already there.The manager, Preet, is incredibly good at looking you in the eye and telling you things with a confidence that makes you believe him. Trusting his confidence almost cost my family an extra $1600 this time, and who knows how many thousands of dollars in the past 8 years.Apart from costs, the fact of the matter is that these people worked on my brakes and several weeks later my brakes failed. If that failure had happened on a highway, I might not be here. After the failure, they tried putting the blame on anything but their own work ('No, there is no way it could have been us'). Apart from the costs and worrying about getting ripped off, I would never, ever take my car here ever again because I value my life much more than these mechanics do.

Best place for VA state inspection! I have taken all of my cars here for the required state safety inspection and found the owner and mechanics very honest and competent. They are also very fast and efficient, even at the beginning of the month when most other inspection locations have long lines. I highly recommend this shop and will continue to do business with them.

They really helped me out. My caliper broke off my wheel while on 495 and I was able to limp my car to their service station. They were able to replace my breaks in a few hours and get me back on the road in time to make my appointment.The place does need a lot of work, but they were pleasant and get the job done at market price.

Worst service. Staff do not care customers. I went to this place today to do my inspection and the old ignorant mechanic told me that my bulbs wouldn't pass the inspection because it was an aftermarket bulbs not the original. Are you the one who bought the car to dealer? Bulbs on the car were original from factory, so what else do you need?The other day, i went to this place too to do balancing but instead taking care of customer they were more focused on the foods they were eating, while it was still 10 o'clock in the morning, they did not even dare to talk to me. IF YOU WANNA DO SERVICING FOR YOUR CAR GO SOMEWHERE, NOT THAT PLACE WEIRD PLACE WITH WEIRD STAFF.

Consistently good, best estimates and I have had no complaints with service for the last 4 years since I moved in this area. I did compare estimates with other shops initially but now feel very confident going directly to them for any car maintenance/ trouble. I am a stickler for honest pricing and inspite of the high volume at this location they have always accomodated my car needs and schedule to pick up and drop off from work. As a single parent with kids ..thumbs up to such courtesies!

I requested emission and safety test, and they told me a light need to be replaced and cost $100 (it only cost $5 elsewhere). I refused, but when I come back to pick up my car, they exhausted my battery and asked me to pay $40 jumping fee, they called it "road service". I couldn't leave without paying it.They exhausted my battery on purpose to screw me for additional money. It was robbery without gun.I called the manager to dispute, and manager hang up my phone and refuse to talk.

Excellent customer service!! From the manager Preet Singh to the mechanic Carmen who worked on my car, both were extremely knowledgeable, courteous and efficient. I took my Honda CRV there for regular maintenance work and brake pad replacement. This Shell station cost me about one-third of what the Honda service station were going to charge me. My car was ready in no time. I would definitely recommend this place to everyone and will definitely return with future car troubles.

Go to Rosslyn Automotive instead for state inspection. These guys told me my headlights were too cloudy, and my perfectly functional windshield wipers needed to be replaced because "there wasn't enough rubber on them". Said "we're not trying to sell you anything" and offered to fix all my problems they just freshly invented for $200. Went to Rosslyn Automotive 5 mins away and my vehicle suddenly passed state inspection with no issues. Save your self the time and money and just go to Rosslyn.

I brought my car in for a simple emissions test. I guess they figured me for an easy mark, and tried to explain that my car wouldn't pass unless I replaced a hose. Ten minutes later, I took my car down the street and it passed the emissions test with flying colors. If you're a fan of herpes, being ripped off, and child molesters, this is the garage for you. If not, go somewhere else.

My Mazda 3 2.0L needed an oil change and they were open so I decided to stop. While I was waiting for my oil to get changed I purchased a soda and was given a coupon for a $19.95 oil change. When they were done and I got the bill it was $27.99. They guy told me straight to my face the reason that I couldn't use the coupon was because my car took 5.5 quarts of oil. $8.00 is not a big deal but when my car can only hold 4.3 quarts of oil I was upset that the guy lied to my face.The got it in and got it out fast but next time I need a oil change I think i will try the next place and maybe save my 8 bucks.

Couple of retards working the inpection station. Charged me $29 to change a license plate bulb which took 2 minutes. $25 labor. They raised my car up until the top of my car hit the roof. Their lift twists back and forth on the way up. Stupid wanna be mechanics wanted to make sure my honda element had a catalytic converter. I mean comon, it's an SUV and there is no check engine light.

This place is the absolute worst!! i took my car over there for inspection and got rejected..i understand that these things happen if ur car is ACTUALLY missing some things..The mechanic( i think his name was Carmen or Cameron) was on the phone talking to someone throughout the inspection process..very unprofessional.. he said my headlights were broken when i just got new headlight and got them installed properly.. Never go to this place this is the worst place..never ever..

It would be nicer if mechanics think more about their customers. Their attitude towards customer is really bad and they never think on the other side of the fence. They need better customer service if they want to run this business. I don't think I will go back to this place again.

Got gas and the pump overflowed when it shut off spilling gas all over the side of my car. I asked Singh who was the staff inside how to clean and he said just to leave it - it would evaporate and no damage. He couldn't care less about the spill on my car- more curious about the pump issue. I looked up online and all listings mentioned that gas on your car's paint would eat through the wax and damage paint so I did soap and clean it but not happy with the lack of care/customer service and will not frequent this station again.

FOLKS - do not even read the reviews that are 2+ years old...this garage is under new management and they are great. And as for anyone claiming MIDAS does it better or cheaper...the guys that work at MIDAS created these bad reviews. It is shady, and they are just upset that Yorktowne Shell took their customers. Doesn't the review read like a MIDAS advertisement?Stay away from MIDAS, come to Shell. Preet Singh (the manager) is great, and he truly understands how to treat a customer. Will be making this my normal garage.

dishonest and lies. if you love your car and don't want to throw your money away don't go to this place, I'm really unhappy with this place and I'm glad I was smart to get second opinion and not to go to this place. Thanks Yorktown Shell for not being Honest! you just lost a good customer or many others.

Got fraud message from bank, every customer was going in paying because machine was not working. The machine ask questions and ask me to keep card in and not pull out quickly and put in my pin and then it was gray. They charge my card 85 but my called and sent me a message. The owner did not care when I called. I think they now and dont carebank cut it off

I took my 3 year-old Toyota in for an emissions test and they told me that their equipment couldn't read my car's data. They charged me $120 and claimed they replaced a fuse which fixed the issue. These guys are a complete rip-off. Stay away.

This is my first bad review toward a business and I hate to do that but knowing that the mechanic and the Man in charge both of them care less for customer satisfaction I had to stop by this gas station because my tire was leaking air rapidly so I thought it s wise to stop at the nearest gas station , it turned out that I need to replace my tire and I was offered tires same size which I checked their prices online and I found a big difference but I m left with no options but to replace and not to take risk I informed the mechanic that the tire is overpriced so he called his boss and I spoke to him over the phone and he was not willing to put the price down and he also mentioned there is $45 mounting and balancing fees and when I was about to pay I got charged $45 mounting and balancing for each tire and that s where they lied both because they never mentioned for each tire and it doesn t make sense anyways since you re purchasing 2 new tires from them I promised the boss I ll never come back and I ll make sure others don t fall into this overconfident kind of businesses without being worthy of the confidence

The gas pump was not functioning properly and had to pay inside with attendant. After specifically telling attendant about the rewards discount, she did not apply. When asking her about it, she said she didn t hear it and could not apply at at that point. I asked for a refund so that we could try to apply again, and she denied me. Ultimately, the Shell station would not honor the Giant Rewards discount.

Had starting issues with my car which after spending a lot of $$ with the dealership was not fixedI was recommended about this shell station by my colleague from INOVA hospitalThe mechanic at this shell station diagnosed the problem, which was a bad fuse due to a short in the cigarette lighterTotal cost was $79.99I would highly recommend this station , they are located next to Five Guys and dropped me to work and back

Charged me $30 just to check to see if car needs a new battery, took 2 seconds. Place is a rip off!!!
