I've been coming here since I moved to Fairfax City in 2000. I think at some point it was high tech Auto, but the only relevant time has been while James has run the show. He's just fantastic. He's paused on expensive work to show me exactly what's wrong, compared part prices, sent me pictures and part details if I wanted to look for the part... Just amazing. One time I was in a real pinch going on a winter trip and my washer fluid spouts were broken. He was SLAMMED busy, but told me where to get the parts and assembled everything as soon as I got back, saving our trip. He helped me pick good cars and told me when to punch out on bad ones. Come here.

the most important thing when it comes in finding a good mechanic is their reliability. too many mechanics overcharge or try to add more services and repairs than necessary. James never does that. he's quick, does a quality job, never upsells, and gives better than fair prices. I recommend him to anyone

James is a fantastic mechanic and I would highly recommend his shop. I will absolutely return. He went above and beyond, even staying past when his shop closed to change my brakes and fix my sunroof leak. He had very reasonable prices, integrity, and a strong knowledge of cars. Highly recommend this mechanic to anyone in search of a new one.

Highly recommend this shop. James is an amazing and lovely man. I recently took my car into his shop because a Toyota dealership told me that the rear left and right brake lining needs replacement. When I brought my car into Central Auto Service, it turned out that my brake lining was completely fine and did not need a replacement. The only thing that James did was tightening my emergency brake. I saved hundreds of dollars going to Central Auto Service. Thank you so much.

James is trustworthy, honest, and reliable. Got the work done on time and well, and took the time to explain what he did. James is a professional and an expert at what he does. Central auto has become the only place I get maintenance and repairs for my car. My whole family uses it! There are still some honest car repair places in the world and this is one of them. I would highly recommend this business owner, as someone that will give you a true assessment of your issue and will repair your vehicle at a fair price. I have an older Lexus SUV and was tired of paying high dealer repair prices, so this place was the solution. No hesitation recommending this business.Service: General repairs & maintenance

The owner is honest and provides practical recommendations based on the condition of the car. He also works quickly and charges a fair labor rate, and doesn t always go by the book rate .

Very friendly and personal services including drop off on Friday night and pickup on Saturday. Not the most modern facility but the owner's honesty and service more than makeup for the lack of amenity.
