Not only repairing cars, he is also an artist his oil-paintings are beyond amazing!Just sharing a bit of a nice short fulfilling conversation I had with him when his team was working in my car!Forgot descent prices!

Great business. It looks like a mom and pop store. This is a good thing. They are honest and friendly. Good prices. Won't charge you for things you don't need. I trust this place, the techs, and the owner.

An honest mechanic?!?!? Yes, one still exists. Great work, but he only does the work he thinks you really need. I trust him completely.

We've taken all of our cars to AK Auto since moving to Fairfax in 2007. Service has always been prompt and fairly priced. It was so sad when Abe passed away in 2014, but Ki has continued the high standards of the place.Ki and/or Keith explain everything that will be done to the vehicle and quote you the price before starting work. I've never been startled at the final price or felt pressured to have more work done. Recommended to multiple friends and coworkers over the years.

Great experience. Brought my old 2003 Lexus in for a power steering pump replacement. Fair price, and prompt repair! Will definitely come again!

I took in my toyota corolla in knowing that it needed new tires and potentially new rear brakes as well. Two of the technicians looked over the car and informed me the brakes are fine and didn't need to be changed yet. Hard to find good honest people like them these days. Most other shops would have made me do the brakes anyway. Any problems with my car I run into in the future I will be taking it here.

Mr. Kim charged me for a starter that I did not approve, and when I asked him to remove it, he said it will be the same price, because of the labor, he knew the car did not need a starter, but he changed it anyways without prior approval. What a ripoff. Not going there again. Use the shop next to him, they are way better and honest.

Best mechanic ever! I went in with very short notice on a very busy day and I was seen right away! They are so kind! I went due to a weird sound and check engine light and the issue was dried out oil. He changed it no problem and I told him I lost my gas cap and he gave me one for free! They truly care about their customers and not the money! 10/10 recommend!Service: Oil change

This is my first time posting an online review. I did this because I couldn't be more satisfied with the service. Kim is a great guy. He fixed the interior lights of my car in 10 mins for free while the dealer wanted to charge me for $150 for diagnosing the issue. I will definitely not hesitate to come back!

Background: I have a 15 year-old Japanese minivan. I went to a dealership for 5,000 mile service yesterday. They told me that my trans pan gasket is leaking, the front axle seal is leaking, and the coolant is dark. The dealership asked for a very high price to fix these "problems". I declined their offer but kept the 5,000 mile service.Experience: Today, I went to A K Auto services and asked them to check up with my minivan, especially on the three problems mentioned above. The service manager and his technicians checked up, and told me that for a 15 year old vehicle, it is in good condition, I should not mess it up but keeping regular services on it. It is noted that original dealership did not lie in terms of perfect new car standard. But it is not really leaking, it only has some oily marks.Comments: I really appreciate A K Auto services for their honesty and valuable advices. I will definitely recommend it to my friends for their auto service needs.

I am very impressed about the service that I received. My headlights went out, and I washed there right after work. They instantly took me in and fix my headlights free of charge. And they were very nice to me. We have been coming to AK auto for years now and we love the service we always receive.

Very honest, very reliable. After having so many experiences with dealers and Indy shops, where they try to find faults in things working perfectly fine in the name of routine maintenance, this place was like a sunrise. Have been here twice and they always got the problem in my car solved at a very very reasonable price. Highly recommended for everything from normal service to repairs. Glad to see such honest people in today's times.

AK auto is amazing! I ve been there twice and both experiences have been fantastic; Mr Kim is honest, he said to me after a preinspection for a car I considered purchasing (a minimal expense) that I was now his customer and he would make sure I got a vehicle without significant maintenance issues. What an honorable and competent shop! Mr Kim saved me from 2 poor car purchases with his attention to detail and sharp eye for mechanical issues.

Quick walk in stop today to check on possible exhaust system work. Li Kim was outstanding, quick diagnoses and said he could complete the work in a few hours. Had not expected such quick and efficient service on the same day. Work was excellent and completed with a difficult to find part for an older car. I was very impressed and certainly recommend Li and AK Auto Services to ANYONE needing any kind of quality service.

One of the most honest mechanics out there. Ki has 30+ years experience working as one at a dealership and now owns this shop. What I like is that he will advise against unnecessary repairs, which is refreshing. Also labor is $96 per hour, 40% less than nearby dealers - it makes a difference!

We've been using A K Auto for nineteen years for our car repairs and maintenance. They truly are the best in the business. A K has fixed problems with our cars that some other repair shops had overlooked or even had done unnecessary work. A K's prices are most reasonable. You get top quality service with integrity from A K Auto Services.

The last review on this page -- the 1-star review -- is so out of whack with our experiences and those of our neighbors that I really have to add an antidote. This place provides excellent repairs and service and is unfailingly honest! There have been several times that Abe has helped out (admittedly, with minor things) without any charge, even though I've tried to insist on payment. For something more extensive, like the replacement of the timing belt on our 1999 Land Cruiser, his estimate was significantly, very significantly, below the dealer! Like about half price. This morning I will be taking our 1998 Honda Civic to AK Auto to ask for a check of an apparent leak of something other than oil. He will provide an honest assessment, and likely will do any needed repairs today. Good place. Does not deserve the negative rating at the bottom of the page. (Actually, it is so inconsistent with what others say that it really should be unread or removed.)

I have mixed feeling about providing a review. This is the kind of place you want to keep a secret so they don't get too busy to provide the good service I've come to rely on. I've been coming here for years. I live nearby so when I needed some work urgently and the dealer--whom I had used in the past-- wanted big bucks for a simple repair, I took a chance and went to see Abe. What a blessing! It saved me over $500 and the service was very professional. I've been using this exclusively for my car work for about 5 years. Occasionally I check the prices for work at a dealership-since I have three vehicles from different manufacturers--and AK always is a far better deal. Never had a complaint but if I did, I know that they would take care of me.

Mr Kim was referred to me by my cousin when I was told that the engine of my Mercedes SUV needs to be replaced by German Auto in Springfield ( pls don t ever go to German Auto). Brought my car to AK Auto and Mr Kim knew right away that it s not the engine it s the AC unit making the sound..... Been going there ever since and and I m really blessed to have found that shop. Always honest and price is lower than a lot of auto shops and he will even let you to call them and compare. Highly recommended

Always HONEST assessments and repairs. Their prices are fair, and even better, the work that they do always has fixed the problem. I haven't been able to find the car dealership that can match that. Don't be put off by its appearance from the street. It's housed in a defunct (no gas pumped here) gas station, but the people working in there are REAL honest-to-goodness mechanics. Highly recommended after 4 visits with 3 different cars over a 8 year year span.

Came in with $75k car for a simple plug of rear tire and left with all brake sensors damaged. I went back to complain about why all four wheels in the computer shows brake sensors are bad. They said it needs a reset. They tried to reset the computer and still nothing as sensors were still inoperable. Called the dealer and they said that each wheel has it own sensor and if you cant reset that means brakes are worn. I was surprised since the last time i checked the rear brake had 30k miles left and the front had 10k miles left. Why did they all fail at the same time? I then became suspicious and recalled watching the mechanic. I saw the mechanic banging all inner wheels with a hammer and there was a loud clanking noise. I thought to myself why is he meddling with the other wheels when I only needed one plugged. Its now evident that the damage is physical and not a software issue. Maybe they tampered with the sensors to have me think i needed new brakes. Where they desperate to take my money?

I'm a frequent customer of AK Auto services. I wasn't planning on writing a review until I saw the very last review on the page, and I feel that I owe it to the guys at AK Auto to put in a good review for all the caring and professional service they've given me.I'm a new driver, and I drive an 8 year old Suzuki Forenza S that has been in pretty bad shape due to my less than careful treatment. My car was suffering from coolant leaks and some serious engine oil leaks. A normal repair for that would involved replacing the engine gasket, engine cover and coolant pipe using vendor parts, which together with service would cost somewhere around USD960+. The owner, Abe, personally offered me a much more affordable solution by patching up my engine cover using some custom glue/sealant and replacing the coolant pipe using their in house parts, driving the cost down to USD400 altogether.Besides this, they've helped straighten out the front of my vehicle that was bent from a collision earlier, replaced and secured my front lights so that my car can pass the yearly inspection. Also, they've diagnosed and corrected noise issues coming from my left front wheel because of a dislodged balancing weight on the wheel frame. All were done in a timely, affordable and professional manner.Keith, the manager, has always been very respectful and courteous in all my interactions with him. Abe and his technician are very thoughtful and professional in their work. The bottom line is that the guys at AK Auto really won't recommend you do something to your car unless you really need it.

I love the honest assessment I get at AK auto.I sought them out first for my rare Nissan Figaro. No other shop had seen it before and they were all flummoxed, but not Ki.Most of all I appreciate that he lets me know everything I should replace for safety and what can wait.So now I bring in my VW in for all of its work as well. AK Auto is my favorite shop, hands down.

Insurance paid them them to fix my vehicle. They couldn't find two major parts; therefore they put my old broken parts back on the truck. I called them about it and they admitted it with an attitude. These parts were a wheel and a spacer. In a nutshell, they are not worried about your safety. I would boycott. They don't care if my wheels fly off again. I doubt they will care if your vehicle is safe. Insurance says I'm on my own, reason being they already cut the check. Save yourself the hassle.

Mr. Kim is the most honest car repair man you'll ever find.Rodents had eaten through an electrical wire in my 2016 Honda HRV. The Honda dealership wanted $1677 to replace the entire electrical sensing system. A Japanese car place in Arlington wanted $315.All that needed to be done was to have the wires soldered back together. Mr. Kim charged me $87 and did it in under one hour! I was referred to him by a friend who is been going to Mr. Kim at A K auto repair for over 15 years. You should trust him with everything.
