There is no option for 0 stars, otherwise, that is what I would rate this business.I had an accident with my travel trailer (front axle and scissors jack damage) on June 27th, travelling home to PA from NC. The tow company said they were taking it to a place "that could fix it", but didn't tell me that it was their sister business. In July, I was told that they were still trying to figure out whether they could fix it, but thought it should just be totalled because they said the frame was bent. The frame isn't bent, the shackle is twisted a little where it meets the frame. The insurance adjuster insisted it could be fixed. As of the first week of August, I hadn't heard anything from the shop, so I called to check the status of the repair. The guy I was working with prior (Ken) had quit his job and gotten another one, and the new guy (Andy) was not up to speed on my RV. He said they had told the insurance adjuster the day before that they were unable to fix it. He also said that there was a bill of $218 for them to look at it, and was making noises about storage fees. $218 for looking at it doesn't equate to keeping my camper for 7 weeks. So now I had to get it out of there and find someone who could fix it.The adjuster (Progressive Insurance) sent the shop a screen shot of where he had processed the invoice, but they would not release the RV until they had the check in their hot little hands. The RV was finally released on September 19th, but the shop told the tow company that it could be towed on the rear axle alone (it has 2 axles), so I am now concerned that their bad advice has compromised the rear axle, and am not comfortable that it will be highway worthy now.DO NOT use these people - they were not forthcoming in their dealings with me, and just viewed me as a source for making a quick buck.Service: Car towing

I am giving these guys five stars because they were super easy to work with and incredibly gracious and caring. My family and I went on a vacation to Virginia Beach and just happened to break down outside of Kings Dominion. They towed us to this truck company to fix my RV and they worked very diligently for a week to get us back on the road. unfortunately the damage was too extensive and we had to return home via another way. The staff stopped whatever they were doing to help us get out within that week putting every other customer on hold just to get us moving. fast forward I am now down here in early September picking up my RV after they were able to fix it completely. we were from Pennsylvania and they could ve easily taken advantage of us and overcharged us on the repairs however they worked extremely hard to make it incredibly affordable so as not to take advantage of us. If I lived in this area I would exclusively use this company to service my RV. I will say the only drawback is that they are slower than most other shops but that has to do with the fact that they were having trouble finding reputable service technicians over the summer. If you were in the Ashland Tazewell area and have a truck or an RV I would definitely check these guys out. They are fair, considerate, diligent and will not take advantage of you at all. They are not the fastest shop in the world, but they are the most diligent and caring towards their customers. They deserve a five star rating. I am going home very happy with the service that they provided.

I have used this shop for years & it used to be great but the last time my car needed repairs they asked me to have it towed in (which I did). I received a call that damages were from mice in the engine. I got in touch with my insurance company to have the damage covered under my comprehensive coverage. My insurance company said they wouldn't cover the prices of the parts I was charged as they had charged me over dealership prices for name brand parts and after market parts. When I called the shop to ask about it, they said "we have a mark up on parts". I also asked about charges for replacement of spark plugs & spark plug wires as my insurance said the charges for this were extensive. I asked the manager to call me back on Monday morning bc he doesn't work on Friday's and never heard back from anyone. Needless to say, I have asked around and will be taking future business elsewhere.UPDATE: I received a call from their main shop in Ladysmith on March8th (it's now March 24th) concerning my review to get more information and was told they would call me back after checking into it in 24 hours (to no later than) 48 hours to let me know the outcome. I never heard from anyone again. It seems I made the correct decision to find another repair shop. If they had no intention of calling me back, then they shouldn't tell people they will. It is very disappointing.I was originally encouraged and happy to hear from them when they called thinking they were concerned about losing a long time customer.

94 ranger, manual trans broke down on 95 near here. Called about a timing belt replacement. Was told the job would be $2310 plus parts. Apparently, the business model for this company is to rip off unfortunates who break down on 95 near them and get towed to the closest and about only place near the Doswell exit. I called a subsequent place in Ashland quoted me $700 parts and labor. Even that is a bit high and will have it towed near home in Fredericksburg where my local mechanic will do it for less than 500. this review seems in-line with most of the reviews on this site, I still gave them a call. Glad I just didn't have it towed in.

Do not, I repeat do not do business with these people. I broke down in Doswell and found out I needed an engine. They had my van for over 2 months and we're never able to get it running. In the mean time I was stuck in the middle of Virginia without transportation. They never once called me to inform me of any progress. I called them every day almost begging them to make every effort to get me back on the road. I spent thousands of dollars in hotel and cost of living expenses. in the end I abandoned the van and purchased another vehicle. This was absolutely the worst experience of my life in terms of mechanical issues. These people are very amateur, they can't keep good help, and their mechanical skills are nothing more than parts changers. They're very predatory and price gouge above, and look you right in the eye and lie through their teeth. They lack any empathy for their customers and should absolutely be ashamed of their customer service. Take your vehicle to Ashland, or anywhere else. Buyer beware!!!Service: Auto engine diagnostic

We broke down on our way up to Lancaster and these guys went above and beyond to get us fixed up right, and even though the job took longer than they anticipated, they honored our invoice and made sure it was done right. A truly honest, hardworking mechanic shop. I highly recommend Advanced, they'll treat you well!Service: Engine repairService: Engine repair

Do not take your truck or trailer to this business. Last week we towed our truck to Advanced Truck & Auto, the issue was only the Alternator belt came out. They quoted me $2398.44 and with unnecessary parts, such as the Fan belt and tensioner, alternator tensioner plus parts on backorder for one week. I decided to tow to another shop that had the belt. Finally, they called me and said we got the belt, we can finish today, and will charge you $787.58 just alternator belt, at the same time they used my old belt, not including parts, I paid $787.58. Again please do not go there.

We are a small trucking company out of Raleigh NC. We experienced a breakdown on a Saturday, the tow company advised us that they had a shop. This is one of the emptiest feelings as a small trucking company is having to take your truck to a shop you know nothing about and it being out of town. They jumped right on our truck Monday morning got the parts and had us out Wednesday morning. It wasn t the biggest job, but it wasn t the smallest job. Everyone there was very helpful, there was constant communication and a high level of professionalism. I would not hesitate to take my trucks here for a scheduled service or if I was stuck on the side of the road and needed rescuing. The labor rate is fair, the billable hours were fair, I wish more service shops operated like Advanced. Thank you guys again for getting us back up and running so fast! It is greatly appreciated!Service: General repairs & maintenance

Great service! Had a bad tire on my RV and Curtis was on a nearby service call and offered to help us. We called other places and nobody would help us. Curtis had us follow him to his shop and Andy helped us out with a very reasonable rate and got us back on the road quickly. Very happy!!

Watch out! This place is all about getting as much as they can from your wallet. I broke down on the 95 in Richmond in my motor home and had to be towed to this shop. I felt like a lamb being led to the slaughter. Everything on my Bill was flat rated ie: replace coolant reservoir $147 (10 minute job) , perform diagnostic on leak behind reservoir ( 129.95) , despite being told by me that the leak was the heater core which would require a simple 10 minute bi pass procedure. By pass heater core $98 after charging $149 for diagnostics, so a simple bi pass procedure 227.95. Purchase Reservoir 165$ after told I could have one delivered to them for $72 from Ford. Told "We don't install other companies parts". Really? you make your own? Then i was charged 21$ for the cap on the reservoir and $40 for 2 gallons of 50/50 antifreeze which sells anywhere for $7.50. So after all of this I noticed that I was charged $39.90 for a new strap kit for my drive shaft which had to be removed for towing purposes, despite having been told by Curtis that law required they put a new one on but they would have had to order it in so they put the old one back on. When I asked that this amount be returned to me Tiffany the chief accountant told me I would have to bring the motor home in to verify what I was saying . Imagine! Buyer be ware! Mike

My RV broke down due to engine failure. Advance Auto fixed the issue with the radiator hoses not being connected properly without a problem. They also told me I needed a new alternator and the total bill was $1,000. I had just put a new engine in the vehicle so the warranty company was responsible for a portion of the bill as was AAA because they were helping me with some of the cost. My cost was $700 which I paid in full. When I picked up the vehicle I only made it 20 miles and the engine overheated again. Curtis and his mechanic Randy were nice enough to come and pick up the vehicle right away. I was then told that the cap to the engine was not properly connected when the engine was installed which should have been covered under the warranty however the transmission now needed to be replaced which would have cost over $5,000. Curtis told me he would contact the warranty company to see what they will cover and I should wait until he gets back to me. I waited a week and a half and heard nothing so I gave Curtis a call and at that time he acted like he had no idea what I was talking about and needless to say never contacted the warranty company. Obviously there was a miscommunication but at that time I decided I did not want to spend any more money on this vehicle and told him I was going to try and sell the vehicle. He was nice and offered some resources but because it was an older vehicle no dealership would take it. I put an ad on Craigslist and found a buyer. A few people came by the shop within a week's time to look at the vehicle and I found a buyer. Two days later I received a call from a Tiffany at Advance Auto who I never spoke to before saying that I needed to get the vehicle off their premises by today or I would be charged a storage fee of $100 per day. I told her I could have the vehicle towed today but then she called me back and said the owner would not release the vehicle because there was still an outstanding bill apparently the warranty company and AAA still had not paid their portion of the bill. Unless I paid $350 the vehicle would not be released and I would continue to be charged a storage fee. I told her this was not fair because I had already paid my portion of the bill and the vehicle had already been released to me the only reason the vehicle was back at their shop because it failed again after they supposedly fixed it and I paid $700 for a vehicle that is now inoperable. I should not be responsible for the portion of the bill that the other parties were supposed to pay. Tiffany said the owner would buy the vehicle from me at whatever the other buyer was going to pay for it I said they are going to give me $2,000 and then she said oh no he will only give you a $1,000. So I declined their offer. They insisted that they would not release the vehicle until the balance was paid so I had the buyer pay the balance and had the vehicle towed to her residence. They gave her a hard time and made her drive all the way to the shop to pay with a credit card because they would not take her credit card over the phone and continued to harass me on the phone about permission to release the vehicle and so forth even though the balance was paid. When the vehicle was towed back to the buyer's residence I discovered several items were missing including a TV, and expensive tent, jewelry and other high-priced items. The police were called and of course Advance Auto denied any wrongdoing or responsibility however they did state that they do not have cameras in the back where the vehicles are kept. I am writing this review to inform others of their unprofessionalism and blatant disregard for their customers security. The vehicle was kept unlocked and the back of the shop is open and unsecured. Beware of this auto shop they are vengeful and just out to make a quick Buck do not trust them!

Recently went to advance truck & auto and I was given a six hundred something dollar estimate for a $20 hose on my jeep grand Cherokee, the hose was very easy to get to and the woman couldn t even specify what the actual part name was that needed to be replaced. So instead of paying the $600 & some dollars I though it would be best to do it myself. After walking out to retrieve my vehicle i popped the hood to try and see what hose it was before i left, (after paying like $60 for the estimate and them not even be able to tell me what it was exactly) so I turned it on and looked for the leaking radiator fluid to see what part I needed, when I found the leak I tried to quickly tape the gash just to make it to my fathers house right down the road. And thats when I noticed the 4 mechanics standing behind me telling me i had to get off the property. Overall it was a terrible experience and i got nothing from it. I will never return.......

My way down from NJ to FL had a coolant leak and Went there for an estimate to change two hose out of the radiator of my Freightliner Cascadia; quote $960.38. These people are trying to get advantage of others in need, wild not recommend them at all. Went to another shop about 2 miles away everything was half the price. STAY Away from there

Excellent customer service. I am not a local and they were able to get me a tow truck. 2 in one service was great. Thought it was something major but ended up being something minor and after calling around it was the best price around. Instead of a day down it they had me in and out. Score.

I can t say enough about how good the service is at Advanced Truck and Auto. After a bad experience with Stanley Auto and Truck, which wasted over a week and a half (Please see my review on Stanley s Truck and Auto). I was so elated to find such a professional and organized repair business.Due to a failed inspection sticker on my motorhome I needed to have the entire exhaust system replaced including exhaust manifold and gasket. While driving away from my bad experience at Stanley Auto and Truck, I passed Advanced Truck and Auto. This was on a Monday afternoon around 4pm, they close at 5pm. I spoke with Andy at the desk and told him what I needed done and he assured me that he could fix it right away. He told me first thing Tuesday he would be on the phone ordering parts. Once the parts come in he would have me bring in my RV, since I was living in it at the time.Andy called me the morning of Tuesday and he needed the chassis number of my Fleetwood Discovery (Freightliner) so that they could ensure they were ordering the correct parts. He contacted me on Thursday and said that I could pay express shipping or wait for normal delivery and the parts would come in on Tuesday of the next week. Since it was so close to the weekend I opted for normal shipping. The OEM parts for my rig were delivered on Tuesday afternoon and Andy called and asked me to bring in the rig in by Wednesday morning so he could begin the work. I decided to bring it in on Tuesday night so that the rig would be there first thing in the morning and engine cold so work could begin. He had one job that needed to be completed before he could bring my rig in the shop. We spoke around noon on Wednesday and they had made significant progress but found there was a short piece of pipe that needed to be replaced and had not been ordered. They were unable to see it until they began the disassembly of the exhaust. He told me that they could repair it with a part manufactured locally.I stopped in on my way home from work to see the progress, because I was concerned about the exhaust manifold bolts not coming out and while I was there, I see that a customer in an RV had broken down on the road and this shop managed to get someone working on their RV so that they could be on their way. This impacted me very much, this could have been me on the road. Miles from home and at the mercy of any number of shops who could take advantage of their position and time. To know they put these customers as a priority means the world to me.I get a call around 4:30pm on Thursday and the work was completed and I could pick up my rig. This business understands customer service. They know the customer doesn t care what other work his business is doing, they just want and need their vehicle repaired as quickly as possible.Their organizational skills to juggle multiple jobs and make repairs is second to none. If you absolutely want a honest, organized business working on your vehicle this is the place to take it!!! Advance Truck and Auto is now my local repair shop. Great Job Andy and many thanks to you and your crew!!!

Horrible service, they replacing stuff with no reason. Very expensive labor, keep me for 4 days in hotel, been fallowing truck on gps and they did not touch it. They laid about like trying to find problems causing a failure. Lairs, I was twice here because truck broke down on the road and they did same thing all over again. Labor is 140$/h which is way to much. SEMI DRIVERS DO NOT REPAIR YOUR TRUCK HERE, try to find other shop around. They bay passed one wire in fuse box and they changed 1000$. Technician was okay, but shop policy and customer service was horrible, especially Tiffany, unprofessional horrible woman on front desk. They just want to rip you off, I never have this bad experience in any other shop so far.Stay away from this people!

IWhere"s the southern hospitality at this place ??I give this place zero stars. Picked up a large bolt on route 1 about 5 miles from this place my tire pressure went down from 39 to 12 .within that time frame.By the grace of God there was no damage to the rim and so thankful to arrive at a auto shop. Until we walked in...We were asked immediately "where ya headed'? as if to scope out if we were out of towners..we said we were local and needed the tire plugged. Due to the location of the bolt they said they wouldn't do it. So I then asked to buy a brand new tire (since mine are all new). He didnt have my size. So then we asked how much to put on my spare? $35.00 flat fee.. We asked if we could just change it ourselves? (we were only 10 miles from home) we were told NO! his insurance company told him it wasn't allowed...really he had this specific conversation??...so we had to drive the car off his lot onto the side of the road on route 1 ..Very dangerous .no shoulders... thank goodness we were able to change it without incident...shame on these guys...where is their humanity...all we were , were dollars signs he didnt get...please stay away!!

Very expensive labor $483 for 2 hrs to change $42 part (coolant hose). I DO NOT recommend this shop. They bill me $640.09 for this. I can only imagine what they are going to do to you for big repairs. Highway robbery.

These guys are no better than Ladysmith Tire and Auto. Put a new water pump on charged a thousand dollars which was bad enough but could not manage to put coolant/antifreeze only water. IN JANUARY!! I caught it before it froze, don't expect much from these guys except a huge bill
