I called the shop the day prior to setup an expected good time have an inspection performed on my car. I normally go to a nearby competitor in area, but University Tire opened earlier. So this is my first time using this shop. I arrived around 0730, and I noticed way the parking area was that morning that it would be best to ask for the best place to park in order to ensure I wasn't negatively affecting their ability to manage getting cars in/ out of the bays. I pull up parallel to the open bay and make eye contact with a one of the mechanics (man in his 50's with grey goatee beard). As I ask "Where should I..?" And that's as far as I got. He literally saw me pull up and put my window down, and he heard me as there was no noise coming from the shop. He manually released the pully the close the shop door right in my face. My immediate reaction: what an a#$hole. I parked my car and proceeded to let the staff inside know what just happened and that I would never use this shop in the future and that I would let the rest of my family and friends know how customers are treated. The staff looked at me stunned and they didn't say a word. I walked out and went to their nearby competitor that I normally use. I arrived at 0800, inspection finished by 0830. Needless to say, University Tire and Auto Center in Crozet will never have my business.

I just moved to Crozet in Dec 2023 and at first I thought this business was closed due to the poor representation of the business on RT 240 side. From Jarman Gap road though I noticed it was, in fact, opened. I needed a VA State Inspection and an Oil Change so I thought I would give them a try despite an issue my daughter had with a different branch and not bleeding the brakes after changing a brake line and she always got in an accident leaving the shop during rush hour.Anyway, the oil change seems to be fine, they used good oil and filter and no lights came on ha ha. But my issue is with the inspection and the brakes again. They failed me for brakes but not because the pads or rotors were below spec, but because the outer edge of the rotor (~3/16") had surface rust on it like every rotor I have ever seen ( I do my own brakes and I'm 60yrs old). The advisor told me the pad is supposed to contact the entire surface of the rotor. I tried to explain the error of that statement to him but we ended up agreeing to disagree and I asked him to put a rejection on the car. I took it the dealer the next business day and passed inspection and they were shocked to hear my story.I will not use these guys for brakes I can tell you that and I question their overall integrity trying to push a brake job where it was not needed.

I regret taking my vehicle to University Tire in Crozet. I chose to do so because they were open and I was in a semi-emergency situation with a serious oil leak from my vehicle. Matt s Auto was closing down for the long holiday weekend and I think Hall s in Afton is closed for the holiday. I figured that I would be charged a high price at UT (that was my experience the only other time I took my vehicle there), but at least I would have my car back relatively quickly. Oil and transmission leak were addressed and we were quoted and charged $1600. Came to pick it up and got about 1/2 a mile down Crozet Ave when the check engine light came on and the transmission seems to have ceased working all together. I was stuck blocking traffic. I immediately called University Tire for assistance which was non-existent. County police helped me get the vehicle towed to Matt s Auto which I should have done in the first place. Lesson learned the expensive and poor customer service way. Go to Matt s or Hall s instead even if it takes longer. They are individually/family owned and have good reputations and service. I recommend avoiding University Tire.

I took my truck to University Tire on Jarmans for a routine oil change. A week later I got a check engine light and Traction Control off error codes. I popped my hood and found a togo cup full of refuse oil under my filter rubbing against the belt. I took the truck back and had them do a diagnostic to access the damage. They told me that the error codes were unrelated to their mess up and that they would fix it for about $1000. Now it could be a coincidence but the timing of the situation, and the fact that they didnt offer me any form of compensation to retain me as a customer really rubbed me the wrong way. In addition to that I have had 2 other mechanics quote me half the price or less to fix whats wrong with my vehicle.Service: Oil change

We were out of town had a flat tire on I64E a few weeks ago so we put our very old spare on the truck and googled "tire stores near me" and University Tire in Crozet VA came up. We drove there and bought 4 new tires and received great service. It took our tires about an hour to be delivered from Charlottesville and while we waited the guys recommended a local spot for lunch. We got take out and returned. They allowed us to eat in the office and have our small dog with us while we waited. We were only there couple of hours and were able to continue home. *side note, an auto parts delivery man liked our tires so much he took a picture of the tire before we left so he could buy a set too.Service: Tires

Horrible! My son got a routine oil change, inspection and break pads to the tune of $400. On the way home, the car died in the middle of the road and had to be towed back to UTA. They quoted us back a price of almost $1400 to fix it. We refused and I called another tow truck to go and get the vehicle. They refused to give it to the tow truck driver until I paid a $69 diagnostic fee. This place is a total rip off. We are out almost $500 and no longer have a functioning car. BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Service: General repairs & maintenance

You re definitely better off ordering the parts and repairing your own car. They ve taken advantage of my wife both times she s taken the car in. Charging ~$300 for diagnostic fees is disappointing and embarrassing, especially for a car window motor/regulator. For parts and labor they quoted ~$1400.This job cost me $200 for parts and took 1 hour of work. Please do not support a business that s comfortable taking advantage of others.EDIT in response to the owner: My name isn t in your database because my wife has brought the cars in over the last few years.I ve been happy to pay for engine and transmission work. But taking advantage of youth, women, and old people is all too common in the auto industry. Whether or not my specific situation is corrected, your business is not the type of auto shop I want to support. On my specific situation - I paid $300 for diagnostics. I was then quoted $800 total for two parts and $600-$900 for labor. I ordered those parts direct from Volvo, their price was 75% less than what I was quoted for parts. I understand you need to markup products to keep your business going and turn a profit. But this just feels like a slap in the face.2 month update: University quoted 3 broken parts, the estimated total was $1400. Two of the three components were not broken. Only my window motor needed replacing. The part cost me $80 online, as compared to University s $500 part quote. It took me about 2 hours to fix with zero experience and help from a YouTube video.I m not even sure what their diagnostic process is, they absolutely didn t even try to open the door up.

We have been using University for almost all repairs and maintenance for both our cars for several years. We have found them fair, responsive and honest, always explaining necessary repairs and telling us when money does not need to be spent. Do not take your car here. I have continued to try to give this place a chance and it's truly not worth it. They take advantage of me every single time I come. I have taken my car to them for several state inspections and each time they reject my car and repairs are at least 400 dollars. After speaking with a family friend who is an experienced mechanic, his shop confirmed that the prices this auto center are charging too high.Services: General repairs & maintenance, Vehicle Inspection

I've used their services a few times in the past since it's convenient (not many auto repair outfits to choose from in Crozet) but was never that impressed and always thought they were a bit expensive. Found a better repair shop with more reasonable prices and better customer service that we use for most big issues but it's more than 12 miles away. Figured I could go back to University Tire for a simple state inspection but no dice. Every time I've tried (and tried a few times) I'm told they are super busy and to try back another day. You can't schedule a time to do it since it's first come, first serve so I've attempted to get there relatively early in the morning (can't get there right at opening since I have kids I have to help get ready for school) but hasn't made a difference. I understand being busy but every time I've gone there I've been told it would be at least one day before they could even get to my car - usually it's several days. In the past, we thought we didn't have a choice and made arrangements to get on with the week with one car out of commission. Won't go back at this point, even though it's very convenient. Would rather drive out of my way for better pricing and customer service.Service: General repairs & maintenance

I m from Norfolk and getting off the interstate I hit a pothole and blew both front and back left tires. University Tire was closest repair so I took my chances. Cody gave me first class service at very fair price. He had to order the tires but still had me out in an hour. I give them high praise for work!

Cody and the team are true professionals. I limped into the shop on a Saturday about 11:00am. Cody found two exact replacement tires within a few minutes. In the time it took me to hitch a ride home and make my lunch, the phone was ringing. My car was ready for pickup. Great service and competitive prices. I was very pleased with my first experience at University Tire in Crozet.

I just had a flat yesterday on the interstate and had massive trouble when roadside assistance wasn t able to remove the tire to change it due to my not realizing that I have aftermarket wheels and not having the appropriate tools to remove them! They towed us (I had my 2 young kids with me!) to University Tire & Auto and they took care of EVERYTHING!!! They were able to remove the wheel and let me know what I needed to get so I wouldn t be in that situation again! They were SO kind and helpful and made our afternoon - that was set to be awful - completely easy and comfortable! They boys and I relaxed in their comfortable waiting area while they took care of everything, and we were quickly back on our way! And the total cost was WAY less than I expected it to be! Thank you Chris, and everyone, for all you did for us!

Earlier this evening we found ourselves with a flat tire at 5:30 on a Friday. We were on a road trip and had already driven 2 hours with 3 to go. Not a great time to get stranded. They were so helpful. They did not have the tire we needed in stock, but somehow procured two and had us back on the road in the time it took us to walk to a local restaurant, eat, and get back. We are so grateful for their quick service and reasonable prices.

We recently stayed at a campground in the area and ran over a spike with our pickup truck. We found University Tire & Auto Center in Crozet on the internet and drove over to get it fixed. We dealt with Cody and Fred. Our tire was beyond repair and they were able to locate another tire from another location. They were able to take care of us within a reasonable amount of time, which allowed us to continue on our journey. They were very accommodating and professional and they saved the day! We are extremely happy and would recommend University Tire and Auto Center to anyone needing car/truck repair. The price was also very reasonable for all that they did for us. Thank you!

I had to replace all 4 tires for my car - I compared prices with the Toyota dealer in Waynesboro, Costco, and University Tire & Auto in Crozet. For the new tires, installation and alignment, UT&A in Crozet was the best deal, for all the same warranties, AND they were able to do it on the SAME DAY, within a few hours. Cody was friendly, professional, and very helpful, both on the phone and in person. Cody (and the Crozet branch) gets 5 stars!

I stopped by 2/5/21 and reviewed what tires I would need for my car and was given 2 quotes. The sales person was very helpful. I planned to get the tires there as I have used their services before. I called on Sunday and left a message, with the number of my quote and my phone number asking for the tires to be ordered. Didn't hear from them so I called today and was told by the person who answered the phone that 1) they don't listen to their messages (why have the option??) and 2) they do not save the quotes so started asking all specs for the tires. When he asked the same question the third time (was obviously not listening), I hung up and discovered I can get the same tires for less at NTB. Will not go back.

University Tire and Auto took unfair advantage of my college aged daughter. She dropped her car off for state inspection. Everything passed, but they called her to "validate" over $1,200 in questionable services to the vehicle. When pressed to make this right, they declined. When you want a local business, you expect fair and reputable treatment. We felt taken advantage of by this Crozet business.Service: Vehicle Inspection

Absolutely awful place of business. Had my brake pads done after inspection and they were messed up a few months later. Instead of taking accountability for a poorly done job, they tried to charge me $1400 to fix their own mistakes. Complete scam.Service: BrakesService: Brakes

Amazing and kind people. Very willing to help. We were traveling by and got a flat tire. Super worried because we are from Virginia Beach and didn't know what to do. They helped us right away, they are a blessing.

My tire had a slow leak - they were pretty busy yet found a way to repair my tire in less than an hour. Friendly and fast service. The location is super convenient as you can drop off your car and walk across the street to the library, restaurants, shops, etc.

BEST PLACE I'VE BEEN TO! =)On October 21 while driving from Washington DC to Crozet, VA to visit a friend, my car started making a strange noise coming from the breaks. Since it was Sunday evening and most places were closed, I found this body shop online and called the next day. Cody was extremely helpful and asked me to stop by so they could look at what was going on - no hesitation whatsoever.Havier (super nice guy) replaced the breaks and made a few other recommendations based on the mileage. Too bad I had to go back to DC because of work and could not get everything done on the same day but I told Cody that I would go back. Certainly for some people this is going to sound a bit crazy but since they took care of me and my "lady bug" (my car) when I needed the most, I decided to drive 3 hours back to them (one way) so they could take care of the rest. Yes! I am super thankful for the service, kindness and professionalism from all of you guys.Cody - thank you for making it happen for me. I truly appreciate your efforts specially knowing that I was not from the area and still did your best to assist me.Havier - thank you for taking care of my car. I am really happy with the results and 100% satisfied with the attention given.Thank you SO MUCH! - from a Happy customer - Fer.

I went in this morning hoping they might take my wheel and replace the tire in the next day or so. They did it right then! 15min later I was on my way after a lovely chat with Tim and watching the Today show. Such a pleasant experience and good price charged.

Traveling from Crozet to St. Louis tomorrow and my oil change light came on. University Tire and Auto came to the rescue. Cody told us to come on over and the job was done within a few hours! Excellent service with a friendly smile!

University tire and auto may be good for a flat, but as far as repairs go they will gouge your wallet as much as they can. Charged $113 just for a diagnostic even though I did not need it, the problem was already sourced (to top it off they put the plug cords back on the coil wrong and marked the wires wrong). As well they wanted to replace things that did not need it and wanted to charge a very high price. In total what should have been a $150 dollar replacement part turned into $640 somehow. Ended up fixing the coil myself for 20$, runs like a charm now. If you have a flat stop by, if you need repairs drag it to Charlottesville and don't look back.
