My daughter is a student at VT and I've been encouraging her to find a trustworthy mechanic. It's hard for young women to find a place where they get treated well IMO. She went there just for an oil change. Could not have been a better experience. Even though her boyfriend was with her they talked to *her*. Didn't talk down to her. Found some things that needed attention (eventually) but didn't pressure her to get stuff fixed. She's there for 4+ years so really happy she found a trustworthy mechanic.

Fantastic shop! The employees were friendly and informative, the work was fast, and my car runs better than ever now. The price seemed more than fair for the parts + labor quoted. I highly recommend checking out The Mechanic LLC if you need automotive work done and want to be treated fairly.

This mechanic shop is by far my favorite, they are thorough and kind. The man I spoke to on the phone gave me step by step instructions on how to fix my car because I was in an emergency situation.This mechanic cares not just about your car, he cares about you as a person. I would happily take my business to him every time I m in the area

My husband and I were driving from Pennsylvania to North Carolina and somewhere in Virginia we realized we needed a mechanic. I googled car repair shops near me and The Mechanic LLC came up. My husband called from the highway and we came in. They looked at our car as soon as we got there, and we ended up needing all 6 spark plugs replaced. This was a Saturday afternoon and all I can say is we would have been in some trouble if the guys here hadn't been in the right place at the right time for us. Their prices are very fair, and both Steve and mechanic Matt were nice and helpful. They had us back on the road and on our way in about 3 hours, since we obviously didn't have an appointment. Great place to stop and if we were local we'd use them as our mechanic.Service: General repairs & maintenance

The reviews for this shop are so good I kind of thought they were fake, but you can take it from this weary traveler that these guys really will get you back on the road faster than you thought possible. Not only did they find the issue right away & charge a reasonable price to fix it, the mechanic answered all our questions with the hood popped & gave us an impromptu parking lot tutorial about things to watch for in the future. Excellent mechanics!

These guys really hooked us up on a road trip recently. Woke up on a pit stop to a car that wouldn t start. Luckily after a few tries we got it started and drove it straight to this place. It was a Sunday, but they got us in and took care of us. They couldn t make any promises that we would be on our way right away, but after a few hours we were back on the road. They were really honest and the prices were fair. They didn t try to upsell us or anything either. As unfortunate as it was to break down on a trip, I m glad we ended up here.

It's rare for my 2012 Jeep to require TWO visits to an auto mechanic in the span of two weeks--with DIFFERENT issues--but that's exactly what happened recently.THANK GOODNESS FOR THE MECHANIC LLC! I was previously taking my Jeep to a local competitor, but I was extremely unhappy with what they did/didn't do to my vehicle several months ago and needed to find a mechanic I could TRUST.My first visit to The Mechanic LLC was to determine why my Jeep wouldn't start. They ran some diagnostics and determined a new battery was needed. This week, my Jeep started overheating while idling at a light at the Uptown Mall (formerly NRV Mall). It turned out to be a leaky water pump, which the competitor FAILED to discover. Again, the work was done quickly and efficiently.Their skill level and customer service are AWESOME! The bills for both repairs were more than fair for the work performed each time. These are honest, hardworking people! I also found out that they test drive ALL vehicles after repairs to make sure everything's fine. How cool is that?Their hours of operation might surprise you. How many mechanics do you know who have business hours 7 days a week? Not many. This business CARES about getting customers and their vehicles back on the road as soon as possible without overcharging the customer in the process.Services: Auto battery replacement, Auto water leak repair

Needed Virginia State vehicle inspection. My truck was brought in North Carolina and I had to get Virginia tags and inspection. Truck passed and I am on the road again.

Do not recommend coming here. They ended up fixing my car just to break down moments later after picking it up. They then had to fix that mistake too and and I wasn't able to get my car until they fixed it the next day.Service: Engine repairService: Engine repair

I was on my way to a concert in a car I was still paying for and noticed the temp hand went right above half but not quite to 3/4 of the way. I pulled over and seen a hose was leaking so when I called them they said bring it in. Well I was 1 mile away. The car did not get any hotter. After 2+ hours I asked how long it would be cuz I had 2 more hour drive to see Dwight Yoakam anyway they then said " you need a motor your head gasket is blown. They said I would be lucky to get home. I cried and cried then they charged me $100! Then on my way home the car was fine. The next day I had a friend take me to find a car and so the following day I drove my car with the supposedly blown head gasket, to the car lot to trade in. I was honest and told them about the head gasket issue and they said , I don't think that's the problem. I couldn't afford to take any chances as that's my only way to work so I traded in with negative equity anyway and then after some investigation from those mechanics, it was not ever my head gasket! It was my fan! I missed out on a concert I paid $300 for tickets, a great car and a nervous breakdown! Ladies do yourself a favor and DO NOT GO HERE!....They knew I was out of town so that probably didn't help matters any but just a heads up to anyone considering this place. BTW, that concert was a tribute to my mother who passed away and she had took me when I was a child to see Dwight. Maybe I will get a chance to see him again sometime, I hope.

My tire got a nail in it and was flat this is the only place we could make it. Refused to help me and told me they were busy and to drive on a flat tire

Had a local oil change shop break one of my parts after they were trying to get it done in a JIFFY. Brought my car in after having no luck replacing the part myself. Turned out to be a mishap on my part after the fact due to the replaced part not being compatible (even though the website claimed it was) and had a horrible shaking form my engine. They still took out the replaced part and did there due diligence to determine the source of the misfire and solved it in unbelievable time. My car is running better then it has in years and with the problem solved quickly I was priced reasonably and with transparency on the itemized bill. I'm confident in recommending this car repair shop to anyone.Service: Engine repair

I always take my car to this place because he always figures out what is wrong with your vehicle and only charge you $50. The only reason I gave it a four-star rating is because his prices to fix your vehicle are way overpriced. Just to have my front brake calipers and pads put on was going to be $817, I got it done back home for $200.

I had a flat tire on my BMW when traveling out of town on business. The owners Brian and Steve did a great job finding me a new set of tires ( had to replace all 4 anyway) and got me back on the road the next day. Took 1 day to order special tires that fit my car.Highly recommend The Mechanic for great service.

I've been going here for years and years. It's the ONLY place I go, and the ONLY one I recommend. The folks are professional, pleasant, and straightforward. They are quick, their work is EXCELLENT, and the cost is about the best anywhere. Steve or Brian will tell you what MUST be done, what COULD be done, and what can wait. If they find something worse than expected (RARELY happens - like twice in over 7 years - they're good in their diagnostics), they call BEFORE they do anything. There's NEVER any pressure. ALWAYS willing to work within your budget. ALWAYS kind and patient. NEVER rude or pushy. I have nothing really bad to say, except (and I say this with a wink!) I wish they did inspections..... Really, they're the best around. I'd borrow someone's car or maybe even rent a day or two to have them do needed work on my car. They're that all-around good.Services: Tires, Wheel alignment

Broke down on the side of the road 4 hours into a 19 hour trip home from Virginia to Texas. The Mechanic's owner must have sensed the panic in my voice and our situation and offered to look at our car immediately. He assessed the problem, provided an accurate quote and ETA on when the car would be ready. He even recommended an affordable & SAFE hotel to stay in while I waited for my car to be fixed. I can't know for sure, but they must have prioritized my car as it was fixed a full day earlier than I had hoped for and I was on the road again less than 24 hours later. Happy to say that I safely made it home. So thankful that we broke down in the service radius of such an amazing place!Service: Engine repair

Had work done on my car. Shop did an awesome job, good prices, honest work, no BS. Get new tires put on Monday. I found a good mechanic shop and will be back for some preventative maintenance.

I was in route from Connecticut to Georgia when my check engine light starting blinking near Christiansburg. I knew I had to stop driving and this would cause 2-day delay in our travel plans since dealerships are typically not open on Sundays. THANK GOD FOR THE MECHANIC LLC! Not only were they open on Sunday (which is rare) but they also were able to get us back on the road Sunday to make it to our final destination.

My car started shaking heavily out of nowhere and I called in a panic, on a weekend. Staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. They diagnosed my car within an hour, had the part in and everything fixed in less than 24. Excellent service and fair prices. We'll definitely be returning!

Steve & Brian are my go to for all vehicle issues (Personal + Business vehicles)They are always efficient and up front about issues, costs, & timeframe. They will go over your vehicle in detail and recommend what is essential/what can wait/etc.I ve had them complete a variety of work from oil changes to transfer cases & more. Always detail oriented & customer centered!There is a reason I send everyone to them, they do it right the first time

While traveling 81 My engine overheated and I needed to stop for immediate repairs . I assumed it was the water pump and made arrangements to be picked up (I live in Maryland) and come back in 3 days to pick up my car.The car was finished in 1 day and it was not the water pump, only a Crack in a plastic part of the cooling system!Honesty, speed, price and quality!!!Service: Engine repair

I have been here twice now and both times have been an amazing experience. Get what they need to done with a reasonable price.Recently I had to get my front tires replaced and there was a mishap on the tire size I brought in. I expected to pay and have to reschedule, but they were kind enough to allow me to wait nearly two and a half hours until a relative brought in the correct tires. I ll continue to come here!

Straightforward, professional and honest. The Mechanic is reasonably priced and they seem to take great care in their work. I've taken my car to a lot of shops in the area and this is by far the best I've found. Open 7 days a week which makes them very convenient. Highly recommended.

Very reliable and trustworthy compared to what I usually expect and get with mechanics around here. Price is reasonable and the guys are friendly and communicate well. He promised to call if the cost was over 100, and because he forgot to call, he only charged me 100 instead of 150 that my repair should have cost... We were impressed with him taking responsibility like that and will definitely be using them from now on.

We took our 2017 Kia Niro into The Mechanic auto repair after an unexpected leak in the coolant hose halted our travel plans on a Saturday afternoon. The Mechanic was the only shop open within 25 miles of where we pulled over. They accomodated us quickly without an appointment and had us back on the road in less than 2 hours. Brian was knowledgeable, professional and communicated with us throughout the entire experience. He also offered advice on how to prevent this problem from happening in the future. And he did it all at a reasonable price! So thankful for the experience we had at The Mechanic auto repair during an unfortunate detour on our road trip. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for quality auto service in the Christiansburg area.Service: General repairs & maintenance

My car broke down and The Mechanic was the only place around here that was open on a Sunday. The shop was closing at 4 and I brought in my car at 3:40 pm. The guys stayed later to check my car. Turned out to be a transmission issue that I could not repair the same day, but they were extremely helpful with information and what the next steps will be and gave me a ride to a hotel. Over all I had a great experience and I have the feeling these guys get the job done!
