We have stayed here 3 times now and every single time, every staff member we interacted with was beyond polite and helpful. The sites are nice, big and level. Easy to get to from the highway too! Their store is amazing and has anything you'd ever need. We were low on propane, they came to our site got the tank, filled it and brought it back to us, how great is that?! We will be back for sure!

The overall campground it s self was in a nice location and the grounds itself were for the most part well maintained.Spots were small and a bit precarious but niceThe reason we gave 3 stars was the many laws and regulations here that leads to many subsequent fees. They are already a bit pricey even for long term stays, but every time myself and the kids would visit, they kids were considered guests and we were charged an extra $10 a day that they were there. Both our kids are 3 and under. We have a Tesla, when we went away for a few days we asked if we could leave the car plugged into the shore power while we were gone and were told it would be $15 a day it was plugged in, so we decided to plug it into the 110 outlet on the side of our RV instead and they came and unplugged it without communicating with us first. They tried to explain to us about the volatility of charging the car to my husband who is an electrician by trade. We did feel safe and comfortable having the RV there for long periods even if we were not there. The maintenance staff were so kind and helpful and were really helpful when prepping for winter. The camp store was amazing! Rivals any major camping store for sure.

We stayed here for a week while we were in the area vacationing. We were greeted with a smile and received information for the area. Escorted to our site and helped us back in our camper. Sites were nice and large and pretty level. There was even an extra spot to park our truck. Nice and large dog park and clean laundry room on site. All staff we had contact with were friendly. Definitely would stay here again.

This campground is well located right off the highway. I did not enjoy the vibe of the people checking us in. I was not allowed to pay our remaining reservation fees until my husband was visually located on the campground, which I found to be annoying. Additionally I have a newborn and joked when checking in, not that it counts and the person checking me in said oh yes it does and we got charged an extra $10 a day. Totally understand that is their rule but find it in poor taste to charge for an infant. There is a playground but it is extremely dated. With the amount of money I imagine they make they could certainly spend some money to update it. The store was nice. My kids enjoyed the game room but several things were not working or ate our quarters. Overall it was as advertised but I would not stay again. Sites were close to together but well kept.

We needed a spot for the night and they had availability for our 42ft Class A. What a pleasant experience! We wished we could stay longer. Small, very clean campground with a well stocked camp store, friendly people and you can buy fresh eggs from the chickens in a pretty coup outside! Site was on a hill but very level. They charge a little extra for faster wifi but we had 4 solid bars on our T-mobile cell phones. Would definitely come back!

Great weekend at Candy Hill Campground. Staff was kind, the Trolley ride was a blast and the place is well groomed. We didn't use the pool but it was spotless. Didn't use bathhouse (few people do because we have our own facilities). Staff maintained order to a sold out park.Odd seeing so many negative posts. I note some people admit they didn't even stay there but gave it a one rating. I am thinking someone has an axe to grind and got their friends to run down the rating. If it was really such a bad place, why is there a full house and waiting list? And complain it's next to a noisy road - uh, do you expect them to move the highway? Look at Google map, know where you're going next time.If you can't be kind, then be quiet.

This campground is lovely. Picturesque farms and rolling hills all around it but easy access to the CP. Level sites for deluxe and they don't gauge you for pricing for those sites. Pool, (it was closed for winter) walking trail and within the park, fully stocked store for "all" your rv/camper needs. Good for families but they need to update somethings like playground.Very close to the highway and that's why I gave it a 4 star. Very friendly and helpful staff who help guide you to your site. We stayed for a long weekend to visit wineries and friends in the area.

We have stayed here several times without an issue, but our last stay will be our last. Yes, bathrooms are outdated, no military discount and highway noises can be loud, but we had always enjoyed previous stays so we were shocked at the treatment we received during our last stay. We had a worker jump in front of our vehicle in a very menacing manner because he could not read the date on our car tag. It was extremely unnerving and a little dangerous. We had an unexpected repair during our stay which involved our son and his friend dropping off some needed tools. We had to pay for both of them to drop off tools and stay less than 2 hours. When we complained, we were told, Should have not had them come here. Should have met them at another place. Candy Hill, you should treat paying customers with a little more courtesy. No one in our family will ever go there again.

Campground was clean and roomy. That s the good news. Plan on no sleep due to highway noise. Extra fees. 15.00 fee to guarantee the site you signed up and paid for. 5.00 fee because we got there at 12:55 instead of 1:00. The 5.00 fee was finally reversed but had to keep calling to receive it. Mostly because of road noise, will not go back. Get a site way in the campground, not near the road.

We originally called lazy a and they said if we could afford it we could stay at Candy Hill. They did have a spot. Registering was difficult because you had to do it online and you had to pick a spot without being able to really see it. Even though there are pictures they are very misleading.Next we get there after ordering firewood and there's a burn ban. They should not have lettuce ordered it if there was a ban. Then we were told over and over to slow down and yet the carts that they drove around were scooting by at 15 to 20 miles per hour.Sites are right on top of each other and the workers are not very pleasant. If you have no place else to stay then getting a site here is I guess better than the cracker barrel parking lot.I'm trying to think of something positive to say. The dog park was small and had no trees over it. When they did allow us to have a fire we couldn't bring wood from outside. They were very upset and threatened to call the fire marshal. Overall, just a very negative place to stay.

We just spent 4 days at Candy Hill Campground and loved it! It is a beautiful, well taken care of property. The sites are very spacious, we had E1, one of the luxury sites. Our friends were farther back in I believe the D section and their sites were nice too, huge. The concrete pad, gas grill, and patio furniture on ours were a definite plus. They have the nicest, well stocked camp store I have ever seen, more rv supplies then most dealership stores. The pool was big, never crowded, and plenty of chairs. We did the rocking trolley to Dairy Queen, very fun for $2! I ve seen some bad reviews about this campground and I m not sure why rules are needed sometimes to make things nice. If I had a gripe, and it s not the campground s fault at all, highway noise was pretty bad at our site, but way better at our friend s sites and the pool, etc. We will definitely be back!

We have stayed at this campground on three occasions. Overall, we are pleased with it. The grounds are very well-kept, and the location is great ! This campground does not allow our dog pen or our pop up, but in my opinion, it is a privately owned campground, and they can make the rules. The swimming pool is clean. I lost three dollars in the large washing machine. It simply wouldn t turn on, so I moved my clothes to another washer and went to the office to report it. Two dryers were out of order, and I assumed that this washer was as well, and perhaps the sign was missing. The owner came over and took my quarters out and started the machine and said there was nothing wrong with it and that I should have come to the office to report it before moving my clothes to another washer. I just didn t think of doing that. But it was a small thing. I m sure we ll stay here again when we re traveling up I95.

Great campground, great camp store, friendly staff, amenities good overall, but showers need to be updated. I'm not sure what people are talking about when it comes to highway noise. Yes, there's a highway. Yes, you can occasionally hear a truck go by, but I'm a light sleeper, with a dog that is horribly noise sensitive and we didn't even notice. Stayed there coming and going because it was a good place. Loved the escort and help with parking the trailer.

Not sure about the low reviews for this campground. I suppose some people would complain if you hung them with a new rope. I found this campground very enjoyable. In side our RV I never heard the traffic. The pool was nice and cool and clean. Staff is not unfriendly as stated on previous posts. They were extremely friendly..I believe the reason for the escort is to protect their's and others personal property. I my self appreciated the extra set of eyes. I would definitely refer anyone to visit this park. Thank you for the enjoyable week!

We stopped here overnight on our way to vacationing in South Carolina. For the one night we stayed here, I was blown away. As soon as we pulled in we had 2 gentlemen help us get backed into our spot immediately. It was the nicest smoothest check in we have ever experienced. We had a stack of wood placed by our fire pit waiting for us. As we were setting up they also asked if we needed help and also treated our daughter so nicely!Such a cute clean and small campground right off the highway. Had the cutest play areas that our daughter just loved. Wish we were staying here longer than one night. But as we make this trip every year, we will definitely be back here!

We have camped here for many years. We have always had an amazing experience and the staff is ALWAYS kind and helpful. This is by far one of our favorite places to camp. Our girls always have a great time swimming, riding bikes, playing on the playgrounds, the Rockin Trolley rides for ice cream, etc. I see some people complaining on some reviews and all I can say is that yes they have rules but none of them are unreasonable. Candy Hill is one of the most relaxing and best kept campground we have stayed at. We will continue to keep coming back multiple times each year. The owners are amazing people that want you to have a great time!!! This is a very friendly and family oriented place to stay! We are currently on an 11 night stay and wish we didn t have to go back to reality. We will definitely be back ASAP.

We ve camped here for many years. The campground is beautiful and very well maintained. Convenient location. Beautiful new pool and awesome dog run. Due to their security and rule enforcements in place, we always felt comfortable with allowing our children to explore the campground and its amenities. We plan to camp here for many years to come.

It seems like a prison, so many rules that are directed around making more money. The weird employees that drive around and police the place seem to stare at you like like the guy from Sling Blade.3.5 stars seems a little high. My guess is, the owners submit higher ratings than the guests. They do run this place like a prison.Other than that, it's better than a homeless camp.

Amazing campground to stay at! Staff at the office were nice and generous. Upon arrival there was a guy on a golf cart who guided us to our site and even helped me back in and got us level. Our shower head broke so I went to the camp store and they had 6 different options, camp store is well stocked and has everything you need if something goes wrong. I give this place a 10/10 review if you are in the area. Huge dog park with plenty of space and multiple dumpsters within walking distance. Highly recommend this place

I ll preface by saying I didn t stay here/ I just called to make a reservation to pass through during a 12 hour ride and we did not stay based off how RUDE the woman on the phone was. And looking at reviews -seems pretty standard. I asked for a handicap spot due to an elderly family member and she demanded to know details about how handicap the person is!?!?!?! Handicap is handicap!!!!!!! I just asked to be close to the bathroom so a 93 year old woman didn t have to walk too far!!! She asked what time we d arrive and I said hopefully by 8pm- mind you I had no idea about their policy about getting there by 7. I ve stayed at numerous campgrounds and have never had to be at a place at certain time- things happen?? Traffic??? You never know! And if you don t get there in time then you better be prepared to have your reservation cancelled, even after driving for hours ! But she couldn t help herself- we have jobs and a life and we re hoping to leave Asheville by 2pm and she said sounds like you re not even planning to leave before noon extremely condescending like that s literally none of your business! And proceeded to tell me to talk to my husband and call her back by 8pm. I understand it is your policy, but you could be a little freaking nicer about it! And based off reviews alone, I m so glad we didn t give any credit card info or book a site! I ve never dealt with such a rude person on the phone at a campground and just want you all to be prepared :)

Like so many customers have stated, while the grounds were well manicured and clean, this campground is close to a noisy highway, and does seem to be micro-managed. First, after being escorted to our campsite (which I didn't think was necessary), one of the "ever present workers in a golf cart" rode up and asked us to remove our small wire kennel for our three dogs (sure, I later saw this rule in the paperwork but to be honest it seems like a silly rule to me). So, except for brief walks our dogs had to stay locked up in our RV. Next, when I pulled into the park later that night in our toad, I was stopped by one of the golf cart guys asking where was my pass that should be hanging from the rear view mirror. I told him it was on our RV but would move it to the toad when I got back to the site. He asked me my site number. I then went back to the site and before I could even get out of my car he came riding up, apparently checking to make sure I hadn't lied to him about being a guest. The next day I came riding back into the campground and once again was greeted by one of the golf cart brigade, who asked me to slow down (admittedly he was polite). I was going faster than the posted 5 mph speed limit, but have you ever tried driving 5 mph? It's very, very slow. In fact, it's WAY slower than the golf cart guys were riding as they traversed the campgrounds apparently looking for more rule breakers. At one point, while walking our dogs and having to come back to pick up the poop because we forgot a small plastic bag, I seriously thought someone was going to ride up in a golf cart to admonish us. It's very hard to enjoy your stay when you're constantly in fear of breaking a rule that will surely draw the ire of management.

Candy Hill Campgrounds is a hidden gem. My family has been coming here for years, and we can't get enough of it. My parents stumbled across this place when I was a child traveling to Virginia Beach when they broke down on the highway. I ve been coming ever since and enjoying it with my own family now. The facilities are always clean and well-maintained, making our stay comfortable and enjoyable. The staff is friendly and accommodating, always going out of their way to make us feel welcome. The atmosphere is simply amazing. It's peaceful and serene, perfect for a relaxing camping experience. And when we're in the mood for some fun, plenty of activities keep us entertained. The rocking trolley is always a hit, especially when we want to indulge in delicious ice cream. We love that Candy Hill Campgrounds is family-friendly. There are plenty of activities for kids of all ages, from the playground, swimming pool, and gem mining. The camp store is the best ever, anywhere from camping supplies, parts and souvenirs. We can always count on everyone having a blast here.Overall, we highly recommend Candy Hill Campgrounds. It's the perfect place for a weekend getaway or a more extended vacation. The facilities, staff, and atmosphere are top-notch, making for an unforgettable camping experience.

The campsites are very nice with more than average room. Everything is well maintained. My complaint is that they seem to charge for every little thing. We wanted two friends to come visit and have lunch and they want $10 per person for them to visit. This is on top of $62 per night for the site. I just dont get it. If you want visitors at your camp site you might want to look elsewhere.

Great place to go with or without kids. Plenty of spaces, not too close together. The workers are very helpful and nice. Lots of amenities..game room, fitness center, large dog park, shuffle board, great pool, etc . And the best part is the trolley ride to Dairy Queen every Saturday night. My family had a great time here and feel as though we get lots for the price. We have been here twice and will be back again at some point.Nearby activities: Stonewall Jackson headquarters

Stayed one night in July on our way North. Was an OK place - since we weren't using any facilities other than rest rooms, I didn't really pay attention. Went to shower in the AM before leaving - never again. I've never seen a shower curtain literally disintegrate while closing it!! It was disgusting, this was besides the black mold that I saw there when curtain was fully closed! Another stall was only a little better, so I soaped down & rinsed as quick as possible & got out of there. I was tempted to go to a Dollar General & buy them a 99 cent shower curtain - but that's not my job. Awful. If I owned this campground, I'd be embarrassed to say I did.
