I brought my Ford escape in for them to look at. I'll be honest I had quite a few issues going on and had no idea what they were or where to start. I did know the transmission needed replacing so that's what led me to Chesapeake Auto and transmission.Every person I spoke with at the shop was kind and knowledgeable.If I had any questions they made sure to answer in a way I could understand what they were talking about.They worked with me when it came to payments and always made sure I was happy at the end of our conversations.It took awhile to get it all fixed and ready to roll (not their fault at all, just that many things needed to be done) but once it was ready they were quick to get me in for pick up and made sure I knew to bring it back if anything were to go wrong while I was driving it the next few weeks.I'm happy to say my ole girl is still driving nicely, I drive her everyday and haven't had any issues since. Thank you to everyone who helped me. I will surely recommend this place to my friends and family who have car needs.Services: Transmission, Battery, Oil change

Mike, the manager is simply the BEST!!! He was extremely kind and he is highly knowledgeable in his diagnostic field! He fixed my car and it is running better than ever. His prices are so much cheaper than his competitors and you get personalized service here. Mike and his team give exemplary service and others should lead by his example! I HIGHLY recommend his company to anyone that needs a thorough auto diagnostic test on their vehicle and repaired. I will definitely come back to him in the future for all of my car s service needs. I was having issues with the Tahoe I recently purchased and when I took it to the previous shop, they couldn t figure out why it wasn t shifting right nor why was it accelerating incorrectly. After having my truck for a couple weeks, they called me and apologized and said I had to take it somewhere else. I took it to Chesapeake auto transmission next, and I promise you these guys are on point. Due to unfortunate circumstances, there was a little delay, but we know life happens. I was able to pick up my truck today and I got to tell you it runs as smooth as butter lol. Thank you to Mike, Jonathan and team for your commitment and dedication to making sure my truck was running the way I expected and needed it to. Any future issues I may come across and I need a good mechanic I WILL go to Chesapeake tire and transmission. They will find out what the problem is and fix it. I guarantee it. Thanks guys for all you did.

Chesapeake Auto helped my family out when we were incredibly scrambled and stressed out. We had a lot going on and on top of it needed to get the car inspected within a short window of time. Called to make an appointment and Johnathan was able to make me an appointment the same week. Brought my car in having no idea what the issue was. They had it diagnosed and fixed the same day and it rides so much smoother. They are nice, quick, well prices, and had great customer service! They have had my car for 3 days now and I still don t know what s wrong with it. No calls or reason why it s taking so long. So much for one hour diagnostic service. Not happy!

0 stars, really. The guy at the front desk, who I m assuming is the guy I talked to on the phone also, is rude for no reason. Slightly rude on the phone call but I brushed it off. when I came to pick up my car he gave me the key and just stared at me. I had to ask what was wrong with my vehicle and he fired off a long list of things, so I asked could I take a picture of the paper which listed everything, he said sure and once again just stared at me while the paper was behind the desk next to him. then I had to ask to get the paper and he pushed it towards me on the counter then stared in silence again. No prices were told to me (besides $90 for a standard oil change) , no open days I could come back, no help at all. Then he told me my car was in the parking lot somewhere and after walking around and looking at no avail, I went back in and he said it s actually in the back even though he never came outside to tell me that when he could see me through the glass windows, hear me honking the horn, and the front desk is literally next to the door. Would never return.

Where do I begin I was traveling back from NC with my pregnant wife, two dogs, and a week s vacation worth of coolers, bags, etc. on a Sunday evening when my vehicle check engine light began blinking with 180 miles to go. We were incredibly fortunate to get off at the Chesapeake exit. Nothing insurance could do. Tow? Tow to where? We made it to a hotel off the exit. In a strange place with no one but ourselves. I spent Monday morning calling mechanics, mobile and otherwise. There was nothing anyone could do. I called Chesapeake Auto & Transmission and explained my situation to Jonathon. Bring it in he said.Jonathan and the mechanics managed to insert me into their already busy schedule, got me diagnosed, and worked all day to get me up and running. I can tell by the way these guys work that they kept their scheduled work moving as well. These folks hustle and work hard.Jonathan and the team were forthcoming, positive, knowledgeable and were able to get us up and running and feeling like new.If I were at home I would have been able to phone a friend . Jonathan and the mechanics got my family home safe and treated us with nothing but professionalism and respect.You can tell these guys know mechanical work and know people. Nothing but solid work here and we re incredibly thankful to the Chesapeake Auto & Trans team. If they weren t 4 hours away I d be there for all my mechanical work. At least I know if I make it halfway to the beach and my ride implodes these guys will take care of it, or shoot straight if not.Bottom line, absolutely superb experience. Couldn t recommend them highly enough.

Mike Briggs and everyone in the shop are so amazing. I ve brought my car here twice and they re all such great workers and explain everything to me that they re doing in a way I understand. The prices are phenomenal and I haven t had a bad experience with a single person. I went over a year with an older car after getting work done before anything new came up and they got it all done in a short period of time. I had the dealership totally get my diagnostics wrong. I called and Chesapeake Auto got me in right away. They made it so easy to get my car fixed and a VERY reasonable price, especially for someone right out of college! I highly recommend them to anyone who needs anything from a simple oil change to an engine repair! Thank You!

Our Honda Odyssey minivan s check engine light started blinking and our engine started running rough while we were driving home to Northern Virginia from North Carolina. A quick google search indicated our engine was misfiring and we needed to pull over right away. We were stranded at a major interchange with no safe place to go, with two children and our dog. After several calls with our insurance company, where they dispatched a tow truck that could not offer us transport due to Covid, we decided to call the closest local repair shop we found via Google. Thank God we did! Mike immediately understood our situation and said he and the shop s owners would work with us to get us safely to the shop and get us back on the road ASAP. The owners, Teresa and Paul, were beyond accommodating, allowing our family, including our dog, to camp in their waiting area while they diagnosed what was wrong, got parts, and fixed the van. They stayed beyond closing time to make sure we could get home tonight. Mike, Paul and Teresa were caring, personable, and professional. They truly went above and beyond for my family. Stranded 3 hours from home with no friends, family or acquaintances in the area, I truly feel God took care of us bringing us to Chesapeake Auto & Transmission. I recommend them without reservation.

Johnathon is AMAZING and extremely patient! Our daughter is in law school in Virginia Beach and had some car trouble. We are in Colorado and couldn't help her. We called Chesapeake Auto & Transmission, (which we found on Google and appreciated the positive reviews), and Johnathon was our constant contact. He gave us all the details of what needed to be done and offered a student discount to do it! On top of that, he was extremely patient with both husband and I calling from Colorado several times to understand the problem. I highly recommend this place!

Bad at communicating, doesn t pick up the phone right away. Had to call three times each day to get a text message back. We were in town for vacation an hour and half away, we had to make 4 trips up here since they didn t want to explain what was going on with our car over the phone. We spend pretty much our week vacation going back and forth with them. Guy was not mean about us wanting it fixed within a week, asked for a 5 star review after it all. We just wanted him to tell us what was wrong, what he could do, and what time to pick the car over the phone/text message. It seems like they fixed what was wrong but wasted a bunch of our vacation time and didn t communicate over the phone.

This is one of the most pleasant experiences I've ever had at a repair shop. Melissa and her crew were absolutely wonderful. I got my car in and out in the same day when the dealership said it was at least a 2 week turn around due to how "backed up" they were. My a/c is the coldest its ever been! Thank you!

These guys were awesome! I rolled up on Veteran s Day without calling ahead because my car was doing some kinda something funky. They got her diagnosed and fixed up faster than I expected. Mike and Tim are so friendly and chatty too! It s a kick watching them banter. Definitely recommend! Especially if you re looking for a longtime mechanic. Took my car to this shop due to a check engine light & a knock sensor code. When they diagnosed my car, I was told I had several oil leaks (valve cover gaskets, timing cover gaskets, oil cover gaskets, oil cooler lines leaking) as well as needing all new brakes. They claimed to take my engine apart and that they didn t see anything wrong internally, and that fixing the timing cover gasket and replacing the sensor with an OEM part would fix it. I had the parts already to replace the valve cover gasket, so they claimed to have used what I had supplied. Two days later, they claimed to have replaced the valve cover gasket & timing cover gasket, but did not have time to replace the sensor. The woman at the front desk said to come back another day and they would do it for me.When I came back, I was informed by the store owner that both the mechanic and the woman at the front desk were no longer working there, and that replacing the knock sensor wouldn t fix my internal knocking issues. I told her that I was never informed that I had internal issues with my vehicle, and she later said I have issues with my timing chain as well as my intake manifold, on top of other piston issues and oil leaks . She then told me with all the internal engine issues and the several oil leaks I still had (which I thought most was fixed), it would cost around $4400 and that it would be better to just do an engine swap all together for $4700.I am now down $800 and have to take my car to another shop just to if the services i paid for were actually done. After discussing the issues and lack of proper diagnosis, I received no apology or solution, the owner just told me the people who worked on my car no longer work there and I need a new engine. I recently moved to the area from out of state, and needed to find a trustworthy mechanic shop when my Subaru started having some issues. Luckily I found it! Everyone here is incredibly professional and sweet. The prices are awesome, and the speed at which they work? INSANE. They had my Subaru in and out the same day! I genuinely wasn't expecting that kind of lightening speed, but they don't play around! Now everything is running smooth as butter. HUGE thanks to everyone working here for making to process so cool and positive. Especially Mike, he's the best! I will absolutely be returning to Auto Shop of Chesapeake for my future auto repair needs. You guys rock ^_^
