Dyrell is an awesome neighbor and mechanic. He has done work on both my vehicles and he is an honest upfront man. Would definitely recommend for anything to do with your vehicles.

The last 3 visits we had to take our vehicle back to this shop the next day for the same issue after being repaired. Not reliable work.

He helped me figure out my cars atypical problem and avoid what I thought would likely be an expensive fix. He was also very timely. You can tell he is honest and upfront about what he does. Much appreciated!!

I am not an engineer of any kind--I know very little about cars and I know even less about fixing them or what said fixes might cost. That being said, if I were to take my car into a big-name car shop, the chances of them taking advantage of my lack of knowledge are very high. With CarScope, I brought my car in with no idea what was wrong with it. Lights were going on and other such nonsense. Turns out, there was more going on than just the lights due to some less than professional work that had been done previously. CarScope took care of my car professionally and thoroughly. They called several times during the experience to make sure I understood what was necessary and what could wait till later. They went above and beyond in their service. At a big-name shop, I would have probably spent an arm and a leg for the repairs and maintenance. But CarScope is more than fair. They make sure you understand what you are paying for and why it costs that much. I am very pleased with my experience and will likely go back if/when I need to.Services: General repairs & maintenance, Auto engine diagnostic, Oil change

Great service! We brought a truck we were looking to purchase to Daryl for a pre-purchase inspection. He spent a lot of time going over everything with us, driving the truck, giving us his concerns so we could make an educated decision. He was very thorough and helpful. I highly recommend his shop.

We have been bringing our vehicles to CarScope for years, and have always been very pleased with the service. This is a family-operated business run with integrity and excellence. CarScope is not a "cheap" repair shop, but cheap auto repairs can be disastrous (especially for folks like us who have little automotive knowledge). CarScope does excellent work at fair prices, and if anything isn't right you can bring it back and they will keep working until you are satisfied. We trust the Hicks family; over the years, they have never led us astray on work that needs to be done. We strongly recommend this wonderful business.Brad Jacob, using my wife's Google account. :)

Where to start? Daryl and the team were so thorough with my Jetta! There is something to be said about family run businesses... It was evident they are looking for lifelong customers and excellent experiences. I have been to other "honest" mechanics and shops who were just that: honest; however they were not patient and they put no thought into the customer's experience nor did they communicate clearly like the team at Car Scope does! I will continue to take my cars to Daryl... And I won't think twice to refer anyone!

After I removed and installed my water pump and belts on my own the timing seemed a little off on my Jetta. I was recommended by Merchant's Tire to CarScope because they didn't do timing there. I am so glad that I got that referral. Daryl personally checked out my car and agreed to adjust the timing for me at a very reasonable rate. I was given a ride home and when my car was ready Daryl picked me up in the evening to make sure I had my car that night. I was very impressed with the personal care that I received at CarScope and am relieved to find a reliable shop in Chesapeake.

The care and skill level that this team delivers is unmatched, We've been bringing both of our vehicles, a Buick and Volvo, to CarScope for a few years now, and they are consisitent with their estimating and communications, There are no surprises with this team and they fix the problem(s) right, the right way with quality parts. It's nice to be served with honesty and integrity. We highly recommend Carscope.

Darrell at CarScope warned me that my friends' diagnosis of my cars' problems may not actually be correct but to bring it in and he would fix what was causing the vibration in my tires as I drove. He was right! He took me on a short test drive and identified the problem quickly. He gave me a few options that would fix the car both for long term or short term fixes. He helped me to understand what was happening every step of the way. Every one there at CarScope is helpful and pleasant to deal with. I am thrilled that my car was fixed so excellently! Darrell even fixed my dripping windshield so it only rains outside my car now :)I highly recommend CarScope to anyone who needs service.

Took my jeep there to have the waterpump replaced. I recieved the best service I had ever gotten since moving to Virginia. They were completely honest about the work that needed to be done to my car. They even pointed out a few suggestions to consider doing in the future. On top of the quality service, the employees were very impressionable in a good way.

I brought my diesel truck into the shop for a possible turbo problem. He did his diagnosis and found that a broken wastefuel valve was the problem and fixed it right up. New review: CarScope continues to provide outstanding service with the personal touch. I have used CarScope a few times now and the team there really does care about what they are doing. The service has been great and the cost very reasonable. I recommend CarScope to everyone I meet.Previous review: I would like to thank Dyrell and his team for their excellent service. Being new to the region, it is always a concern to find a fair and honest mechanic. I found one in Carscope. My vehicles needed extensive repairs and the guys at Carscope were able to do everything in a timely manner and at a decent cost. They showed a genuine interest in my vehicles and put in that extra effort that makes a difference in business today. I could go anywhere to get my vehicles fixed but I will be back to Carscope because they earned my continued patronage. Thanks guys.

First visit to CarScope. Vintage vehicle with noises and leaks. Extremely thorough preliminary diagnosis. Largely accurate with minor "discoveries" during repairs. Estimate remained accurate. Quality of repairs top-notch. Stayed in contact with details progress reports throughout the repair cycle. Will make the 25 mile commute for all vehicle repairs in the future. You can go to CarScope with confidence and peace of mind.

I have had my car repairs done here. Great service and easy to get the work done in a timely manner. Only negative is I had a rain shield on a window and they lost it. Didn't offer to replace at their expense either.

So took my car in due to I little smoke under the hood, was told I have a blown head gasket which is not easy job on the northstar engine. I will say that the people were very nice and seemed fair, told them I want another set of eyes on it no problem. Brought her back home and took my neighbor all of about five minutes to find a crack in the radiator and that was a 5.99 repair, I mean wow these guys actually told me the repair cost more than the car is worth and it was a 5.99 fix, I don't hold it against them they gotta eat to but be careful and have a couple or more places look at your vehicle before sinking some serious cash into it.

It is always daunting to find a good honest mechanic. Online reviews help tremendously, that's how I found this establishment and I couldn't have been happier. Utmost professionalism, politeness and customer service. A big contrast to overbooked dealership shops. I will return again if I ever have another car issue. Highly recommended.

Super pleased with the service provided ~ Dyrell and his boys were courteous, respectful, quick, trustworthy, kind, and very reasonably priced. They went above and beyond what any other auto mechanic has done for us. We will be calling on them from here on out for any further auto needs and will recommend them to all of our friends and family. Thank you again, guys ~ you're the best!!

We had our van looked at after we had trouble with a local dealer. The dealer did not know or tell us about significant problems before we bought it. The dealer did fix those two problems after we found them. But we wanted a second opininion from someone we trust as to the real scoop on our newly purchased van.They were super informative, friendly, open, and honest. Great family business who seem to know thier stuff. Our van is ok too, other than some minor things that Daryll pointed out.

They have been my mechanics for over 10 years now. After 25 years in the Air Force and working as an Operations Manager for a "big box" store I value and trust their service. I believe in their mission so much that I feel privaledged to join their team.

As far as I'm concerned, this is the best shop in the Hampton Roads area. The techs are knowledgeable and honest, and they take the time to explain their concerns with you. The prices are fair and reasonable, and they won't recommend work you don't need.

These folks are the BEST in the business. More knowledgeable than even the dealer service centers. And they will quote a cost which they will meet. And they do the work better than anyone.Don't go anywhere else!
