My wife and I were traveling from Georgia to Lynchburg, and while we were driving through in my father in laws truck, a caliper bolt fell out. After pulling off the side of the road and finding out what had happened, I called Steve s Automotive, as they were the closest shop to where I had stopped the truck at. The person that answered the phone was very nice, and I explained to them what had happened and had asked if we were to limp the truck there, if they could help us get a caliper bolt and install it. We didn t have any tools that would allow us to do this ourselves. This was at about 3:45 pm on Friday Aug. 4th, and to my understanding that the shop closes at 5. I was told by the person that answered the phone that they need to check with Steve and they placed me on hold. After a couple of minutes I was told they could not help me. The person on the phone apologized and was very nice but that was it.I don t normally write reviews but working in the industry I was a little taken back by the fact that we were in a situation that was out of everyone s control and a simple 15-20 minute fix couldn t be assisted with. At my shop we would have taken the guest in and gotten them taken care of.I ended up driving the vehicle to the nearest Napa Auto Parts, buying the bolt and a wrench and installing it myself in the parking lot. Shouldn t have had to do this, as there was plenty of time for someone to help and still get out of work on time on a Friday evening.Needless to say, me personally, wouldn t recommend this shop as it seems more important for the guys to get to leave on time then help a customer that would have paid and also would have left a stellar review. Maybe call a different shop in this small town if traveling through. And to the person who answered the phone at this shop, thank you for trying, you were exceptionally professional and nice.

Steve Motley and his son Dustin and his crew are skilled mechanics who perform repairs and maintenance using quality parts and good trade practice. I have been a customer for many years.

Was headed to a wedding when my Jeep overheated and the belt fell off. Called these guys and they were super quick and straight forward. Reasonable price and they fit me right in. Amazing service, reliable, and if I ever live near here I would definitely use them again.

I would like to thank Steve's crew. We took my daughter's Honda Pilot for timing belt replacement which normally includes replacing the water pump as well as the timing belt. Estimate was $858, work totalled less than $500. Water pump didn't need replacement. They could have charged their estimate and no questions would have been asked. It's refreshing to deal with people with integrity. Thanks again and we'll be repeat customers as needed.Gerald StoweService: General repairs & maintenance

I find Steve s Automotive on Hwy 29 in Chatham, Virginia to be very trustworthy , professional and very fair prices. The owners are so polite, courteous and helpful in any way they can. As a woman, getting work done on a car or truck can be stressful but not here, they treat you fair and do excellent work. They are appreciated.

I took in my Bronco for breaks, Stev said the exhaust was shot and there were various smaller issues . $3000 later I pick up my truck which was running strong when I brought it in now it has low oil pressure and leaks oil. I took it back and Steve charges me an additional $150 and tells me that there is nothing he can do the engine is'wore out'. Are these the actions of a reputable mechanic?

I had been to multiple repair shops to get my wifes A/C fixed on her car. Most shops told me they could not do the work due to the difficulty of parts and working on the vehicle. If the other shops agreed to work on the car the price was ridiculous. Derek at steves automotive assured me that between him, his dad steve and brother dustin they could get my wifes A/C blowing cold at a reasonable price and that's exactly what they did! A/C was blowing in the mid 80s on drop off and was blowing 36 on pick up on a 99 degree day. Steves did great work at a awesome price. Derek even stayed late one evening to make sure the car was done on time!Services: A/C system maintenance, A/C system repair, Install AC, A/C installation & repair

I took my vehicle to this business and when I called back with some questions about his week long delay and poor communication he yelled at me and said that some other business had me by the balls for daring to get a second opinion. He was hateful and condescending. I wouldn t do any more business with this type of customer service if my vehicle depended on it.
