The woman who handles name changes/transfers of license is one of the dumbest and most incompetent people I ve ever had the displeasure of working with. Don t get a Virginia license if you can help it at all. Today was my fifth time going here, and I still left without a license, because the woman keeps sending me on a wild goose chase to find random information. I ve never had such a terrible experience with a DMV. This time I m leaving to wait for a form to be faxed to Richmond and for Richmond to send me a letter. This all after she highlighted the wrong phone number so I had to figure it out on my own. I d like to apologize to the front desk lady who did not deserve my wrath but had to suffer it. I look forward to the day when AI replaces these employees.

I just have to say, I was blown away by the efficiency and kindness of the staff here. I have never had such a positive experience at a DMV. Ms. Dotsch helped me switch my title and registration and she was incredibly kind and thorough. Thank you!!

I ve been here twice and I ve had great experiences both times! The workers are very kind and it is fast and efficient. The first time I was getting a new license after moving states and it took only 15 minutes (with an appointment!) Grateful to have such a nice dmv near by.Edited: I went back a third time and wanted to shout out Jonna! She has been my helper the last 2 visits and she is an angel. I know it sounds crazy but it puts a smile on my face to go here! I also got here at 9:30am and got called up immediately to the counter, which is awesome. Grateful for your help, Jonna & staff!

Asian girls, go to other DMVs for road test! Wishing I could give a zero. Not only my own but also my friend s experiences here were just TERRIBLE. I saw a comment 7 years ago sharing the terrible experiences at this place - shouting at Asian girls things like you stupid throughout the test. Wishing I had read that comment earlier and chose some other DMV

Waited 3.5 hours for a birth certificate to be printed out. It took 45 just to get a number because the elderly lady seated at the desk when you enter, seemed confused and overwhelmed. Once she was relieved by someone else and I finally got a number I sat there for an additional 2 hours and 45 minutes all the while watching 4 people helping one person because it took a collaboration of them to figure things out. Watching employees walk around laughing talking to one another instead of working. They would walk in and out of the back of the building frequently. Incompetent and undertrained employees. I will chose a different location for any DMV related needs from this point forward.

I've moved between several states so have experienced multiple different DMVs. My experience changing over my license and car registration/title in Virginia was by far the smoothest experience I've had so far.

My visit there today to renew my driver's license wasn't bad at all; a little line at the beginning, but setting up an appointment online did save some time. The representative was professional and friendly. (I give four stars since I was assured I'll get the new license in the mail within a week or so....let's hope that happens!). I was out of there within 20-25 minutes.

***If you need to come here and it s not urgent, set up an appointment! Yes, it may be 2 weeks out. But I walked in, stood in line, only to realize there was a check in sign with a QR code to check in.As soon as I did, it had me send a text and it gave me my ticket number. I got called right away. Had everything ready so process was super smooth. Happily will make an appointment in the future if I ever need to come here again.

Heavy set blonde woman behind counter 3 on 10/02/2023 was absolutely cruel to my mother and I. My mother who suffers from alzheimer s wasn t even able to utter a sentence before this terrible employee threw her passport back at her under the window causing it fall in the floor then she added you are way to young to have these kind of issues and I don t believe you re so old you don t have a birth certificate I was so shocked I didn t know what to say. When I asked what my mothers options were she simply replied we have rules, get her a birth certificate Though we had her passport and expired ID this woman refused to even try or ask a supervisor. Im sending a certified letter to complain to the commissioner but I wanted to let my community know what kind of mean spirited individuals they have working at C-Ville DMV. Bring your patience!

Something definitely needs to be changed here. Staff are disrespectful, they don t know what they re talking about. I had to be transferred so many times over them not knowing how to answer my questions, and was on hold for almost 3 hours.This place needs to get trained.

Renewed my driver's license in less than 30 minutes without having an appointment. The clerk couldn't have been nicer. Seems things have greatly improved since my last visit.

I would rate a negative start if it was the choice. Employees very rude. Starting with the lady in charge to give you the ticket number. I wait for almost 2.5 hours with my autistic kid to do a translation from a person having a driving test.the lady didn't allow me to do the translation because I was with my kid and I told her that someone waa coming to stay with him in left than 5 minutes but she didn't want to wait. I didn't know the rules, nobody told me even though the guy who did the paperwork saw me. There is proper way to let someone known about the rule.but not with rudeness..

This place gets five stars mostly due to the very pleasant experience I had with the professional lovely man who works at the station all the way to the left. Other people even commented how he sounded nice and they were hoping to have him call them. He saw me struggling with some stuff and was immediately helpful not rude. He has a really nice energy. The other lady who was working at the information booth who is not the older white mean lady was nice professional and helpful. These two people were awesome enough to save this place from a horrible review. That older lady is mean. She was really rude to me and embarrassed me when I came in. I am disabled and have sensory problems. The place is LOUD and confusing at first. She yelled at me about where I was standing and just had a nasty attitude. I have spoken to other people in the community and they called her a bad name stating she's always like that. Retrain or fire her no one deserves to be treated like that! If you see the older lady in the booth and are sensitive disabled or just want to be treated professionally come back when the other lady with the dark hair who is in that booth! I came in the first time on December 6, 2022 at about 9 30 with a 10 am appointment. That's when the mean older lady was there. The next day was when I had the pleasant experience.

Standing in line at cville DMV. It's 8:21am Thursday and there's approximately 60 people waiting outside. Apparently the morning crew was a no show. Place is locked down and dark. Staff can't get in.

Always takes over 3 visits to walk outa here successfully, honestly to sum it up, every important aspect to make this place run more efficiently is completely absent, every time I went to the tax collector in Florida, I was out in 10-20 min, always 2-3 hours here, being early hardly changes that.

It was surprisingly more pleasant than it has been nine previous years. The addition of appointments is very welcome and a good move on their part. It would still be nice if they could get some phones. The driving test ladies are super nice and make it very easy to deal with an otherwise stressful situation. Thank you very much.

All appointments are through dmvnow. Open during covid, with service out front. Prompt and helpful. I recommend bringing every form of ID you can with you so you don't have to come twice though.

Save yourself a headache and go to Waynesboro DMV. This DMV over complicated my proof of name change when I ve been married for 6 years, with a stamped marriage license, a passport, a government ID, and a social security card with my new name. I ve visited 7 different countries with my new married name and I lived abroad for 3 years with NO ISSUES ever. If the Social Security office and the Department of Defense have already verified my name what makes you think it s not valid?The clerks up at the front were quite loud and snarky. One of them even leaned over to my clerk saying that I showed her a different document earlier that morning. I told her that I did not and I could show her again if she needed. She said Oh well it looked like it. Completely inappropriate and unprofessional. Waynesboro DMV is worth the trip, I was in and out in 10minutes with no trouble whatsoever.

Most experiences are a nightmare here. Long lines, slow service, always remind us that government rarely performs as efficiently or effectively or economically as we deserve.Today a rarity. A service rep who was efficient, effective and economical. Perhaps a bit more matter-of-fact than personable but well done nonetheless.

On May 20, 2022, this is the most efficient DMV in all of Virginia. I didn't make an appointment. I arrived after 11 o'clock and entered to collect the number. Before my number, there were only three people in front of me, and of course there were other letter numbers. Before I finished filling out the form, it was my turn. The processing speed was also very fast. In less than ten minutes, I couldn't find the vehicle registration information in an emergency, friendly window service staff, No. 11! please remember! A friendly, kind and patient lady who suggested a quick fix for me and refunded me when I found the registration information. Can't believe it! My English is very bad, she made me fall in love with this town. The driving test is also fast. I was prepared to wait 5 hours and didn't expect to have trouble with the permit in about half an hour. The most worth mentioning is the service staff at the 11th window, who is understanding and patiently gave me the password on the road. Thanks again.

It was packed with people but nothing I didn't expect. Some of the workers were very nice but I got one that was rude and when I walked away, she was making comments about me and my transaction in a derogatory way that I and others could hear. I will just take my business to the Waynesboro DMV from now on, where they treat you with respect not matter how frazzled and full of people they are..

BY FAR this was the best dmv experience I ve ever had. My husband had a 9:15 appointment on Monday for a drivers license, arrived at 9:05, and was finished before 9:15. I had an 8:30 appointment on a Wednesday, couldn t make that appointment so I decided to roll the dice and show up as a walk in at 2:30pm, and was also helped immediately as a walk in! Both employees I interacted with were friendly and helpful.
