Fixed a leak in my coolant system, had to go back the next day as it was still gushing fluid, then had to go a third time because Jiffy Lube tech told me my coolant was low. None of the guys in the shop speaks English fluently, so it makes it hard if you go after the office closes at 5. On the plus side, the office manager is very nice, they just don t do top-quality work.

Always straightforward and thats with pricing and prioritizing repairs. If you can get it done cheaper believe it or not, they will let you know. Better off going directly to the dealer?, believe it or not, they will let you know. Communicative staff and excellent customer service. If the staff member is not a mechanic they don't pretend to be and try to talk over your head. Honesty is a big thing in my book and this business has proven to be honest and loyal. I drive 40 minutes to Larry's because this is the only place I trust and Ive had negative experiences with other mechanics since moving to the area. They have worked on our Audi Q5 and our Mazda CX9 and will continue to work on any vehicle my family drives.Services: Auto battery replacement, Auto engine diagnostic, Engine repair, Brakes, Brake service & repair, Auto maintenance, Auto brake replacement

So thankful for these guys. My daughters car needed an alternator quickly so she could get back to work and Larry s Auto made room for us.Amanda is the excellent face of the business, she took good care of us!Highly recommend this business.

The experience was great. I went there today and yesterday. Problem: highway vibrations @ front axial @ 60-70mph. Problem identified within the first 10min of looking at the car: locked rotor and pads. Since I was waiting on site, car was fixed within 2.5 hours with great quality on Saturday. Minor vibrations still occurs and the owner asked me to go back and do another calibration for free on Sunday. Larry is very hardworking and I wish the best for his business.Service: Brake service & repair

I wouldn't even give them one star but google requires at least one. This is the worse body shop I have ever been to. I had a terrible experience with them 2 years ago with an oil leak on my Audi A4 that resulted in me taking my car to the Audi dealership and getting a printout to prove that they never fixed my oil leak that they kept claiming to fix. So when my engine went in my car last year, I was very vocal with the dealership that I did not want my repair to be done by their shop which is "Larry's". I was instructed to take my car to "the auto doctor" instead and never once was I told that "Larry's" owns this body shop as well. Well I thought I was dealing with someone reputable who told me they had found a great used engine with a 2 year warranty on it and it would cost me $5700 so I went for it. Unfortunately I hit a rough patch financially and could not get my car right away. Five months later I go to pick up my car from "the auto doctor" and it wouldn't start so they had to jump the battery. Immediately I could tell something was wrong, it drove terribly. Granted I figured it hadn't been driven in a while so maybe I needed to put fresh gas and fluids in it and let it run for a bit. Well on my way home from work my EPC light comes on and my car had no power. I called "the auto doctor" and received no response so the very next day not even 24 hrs later I took my car back to "the auto doctor" only for them to tell me they are taking my car to Larry's because they had put my engine in. Why have me pay "the auto doctor" almost $6000 as if they had repaired my car only for me to find out a body shop across town that they knew I did not want to do business with actually "fixed" my car? Well I'm thinking I have a 2yr warranty so either way it should be fine. Nope! Larry's tells me my turbo boost cylanoid needs to be repaired and will cost another $600 after I just gave them $6000 a few days before. l bring up my warranty and they tell me I do not have a 2yr warranty but a 30 day warranty. After some back and forth finally they agree to fix the turbo cylanoid but they tell me that because my car sat for 5 months at "the auto doctor" that my 30 day warranty is now void and if anything else goes wrong with my car its all on me. Well guess what not even a week later my car is at another shop with the engine light on and no power. I have not had my car back two weeks! Needless to say I will never buy another car from that particular dealership as I have bought 2 in 3 years, nor will I do business with "the auto doctor" or "Larry's". Beware and DO NOT take your car to them for anything.Service: Engine repair

We had a truck go into here in July for a busted fuel line. We got it back in early August and drove a mile down the road and it broke down again for a fuel pump and control module. Waited until the last week of September for the truck to finally be ready. Drove it back up to Culpeper and smelled diesel leaking, took it to a trusted guy we use (Rays Auto in Culpeper) and they said that Larry s incorrectly installed a fuel line and caused the leak as well as missed completely that the water pump was also leaking. I don t know how they are AAA rated and you should NEVER use their service. Overcharged and take forever and just don t know what they re doing! Horrible service do not take a car or truck here.Service: Engine repair

I lost my wedding ring in the steering wheel column of my car and Larry's Auto took the time to take apart my dashboard and find it, even working after their closing period on a Friday night and letting me stay in the waiting room (since I was visiting from out of town). They were very kind to me and worked tirelessly for several hours to locate my ring. I appreciate their dedication and attention. Other local family and friends also have only good things to say about Larry's Auto. Thank you Larry's Auto!

Busted my car window and rear view mirror and saw this place had good reviews. The staff were very friendly and accommodating and fixed my car in 2 days! That's including ordering the parts in and fixing it good as new. I am very pleased with their service as other shops in the area said it would take 3-5 days. Best repair shop in Charlottesville!

These guys are great! Their bays are stuffed with cars some very exotic and some more pedestrian like my Subaru Outback. They replaced my transmission in two days once they had the parts knowing I did not have transportation! Their pricing was VERY fair, they are truly honest, and I will return when needed. Ask for Pete or Yasha.

After getting an estimate from a local Dealership, Larry's Auto fixed my SUV for $600 LESS. They were very thorough, honest, professional, and knowledgeable. As a female, sometimes I feel like I'm taken advantage of when dealing with mechanics, but Larry's Auto alleviated all my apprehensions. I am so very please with their work and will be returning for all my car issues in the future.

The transmission in my SUV gave out on our way home from vacation. We were 7 hours from home. They were closing in 10 minutes and they stayed open late to help us figure out what was wrong. The staff was very kind and our wait time was short. They were also very accommodating with our three little ones who were very tired of driving. I would certainly recommend this place.

Larry's was a life saver! I was in Charlottesville from out of town and had a car emergency. In less than 5 hours, they diagnosed the problem, found the necessary replacement parts and installed everything. They were friendly, professional and very reasonably priced. Overall, an excellent experience!

Polite & professional upfront. Quote was considerably less than competitors. Once the job was finished, the billed doubled. Antifreeze or coolant, and a serpentine belt shouldn't double the price for a water pump replacement job. After all, a belt (whether new or old) has to be installed for a water pump replacement. Coolant replacement was not what I asked for, thus they could have asked me before replacing 8 gallons of coolant at $25 per gallon. Advance Auto has the coolant for $10.99 a gallon, on sale, and half a block away... Overall, not satisfied. Won't be a return customer!

Love this place! Extremely friendly, honest, and knowledgeable. I brought my SUV to Larry's for a re-inspection after being lied to at Brown Toyota, Larry's was great in addressing my concerns. They definitely gained a customer, as well as the rest of my family here in Charlottesville.

Not gonna lie, I hesitated. and now I feel horrible for second guessing a shop. From the moment I walked in the staff were eager to get my issue checked and in less than 24hrs had my vehicle up and running. (My brakes were completely broken) About to relocate to Texas and I am absolutely happy I came across Larry's Auto! After having another local mechanic shop try to fix an engine miss and not successfully doing that but charging me $800, I took my vehicle to Larry's Auto Service. After a complete detailed diagnostic check by Yasha he determined what the problem was and fixed it within a few hours. My truck now runs like it's new. The cost of having Larry's do this was very very reasonable. Larry's auto repair is my new go-to business for repairing all of my vehicles. These guys are good!!

The team at Larry's Auto & Truck Repair have always exceeded my expectations in both the quality of the work they do and are always competitively priced and usually the lowest price in town. I am a retired engineer and always research and verify everything to find the best quality at or near the lowest price and Larry's always wins in both categories. As part of my research I obtain cost estimates from all competitors, review customers evaluations and speak with long time customers to determine their level of satisfaction and Larry's has consistently come out on top. Recently Larry's completed the installation of rotors and brake pads on my 2008 Honda Accord and I had a Honda car dealer change my steering fluid and complete their 22 point inspection a few days after the brakes were installed by Larry's. The Honda dealer tried to get me to pay them to install a caliper they said was defective even though their 22 point inspection indicated everything was OK this caused me not to trust the Honda dealer. Since my daughter was going on a trip that same day I went back to Larry's and they removed the wheels and calipers and tested them and Larry's confirmed they were all working perfectly. When I asked Larry's how much I owed them they told me I owed them nothing - that speaks volumes about the team of people that work at Larry's and their integrity and focus on providing great and trusted customer service and how they back up the work they do. I highly recommend you consider Larry's for your next car or truck repairs and/or maintenance.

Great shop to get any repair done. Everyone is hard working, available and honest. I trust them to diagnose and fix any problem with my car. One example: my girlfriend had a weird noise/vibration in the wheel for months. We took the car to several dealerships because the car was under warranty. We got all kinds of diagnoses and repairs. Finally the warranty expired and we went to Larrys. Yasha test drove it around the block and immediately put the finger on it: worn out, deformed tires. He lifted it on the spot to show us! Really amazing service, affordable, and reliable!

I drove over some sort of nail or screw that got wedged in my tire, so I drove directly here. Someone immediately checked it out for me, proceeded to remove the object from my tire and make sure that no air was leaking, and then sent me on my way free of charge. These people are absolutely wonderful and made what could ve been an awful morning so much better. I will absolutely be returning for any other automotive needs that may come up in the future!

Thieves and frauds! I got an inspection there while having a fuel pump replaced and they said there was a $1000 worth of repairs. I took my vehicle to a different place and they only found one small thing wrong $60 lug bolt replaced. Also when I first filled up after they replaced the fuel pump gas sprayed all over the ground under my car. They forgot to hook up a hose to the fuel pump. Incompetent conmen.Edit: When I had this done you did indeed do state inspections. Maybe you have fallen on hard times and can no longer offer them. What I find funny is you attacking me and my reviews instead of being a customer service oriented professional business. I wish you luck you will need it.

I took my GL 450 Mercedes SUV to Larry s after Mercedes Benz of Charlottesville quoted me $8,000 to fix my truck. I took it Larry s and saved 65% and I ve never been happier! They are professional and believe in doing the job right! They will always have my business!

Not very satisfied with the service. They did not even make sure that the car was running properly! Had to go back multiple times, delayed the repairs by over a week! I had to spend a lot more than my insurance collateral, because of poor documentation. The car finally still did not feel as smooth as it used to before I went there.

I was told to take my car to them when I bought it as it was the shop that the dealership used to prep their vehicles for sale. I had not heard of the shop before, but being as the dealership was paying for the repairs, I did as suggested. They examined what I said seemed to be the issue and asked me specifically what type of repair I wanted (rebuilt transmission vs junkyard transmission) which was a refreshing change especially when I wasn't paying for the repairs in the first place. When I picked up the car a few days later I was impressed with how well it was repaired.I asked how comfortable they were with older diesel pickup trucks to which they replied that they would be happy to work on my truck. I needed the glow plugs replaced and an emergency LED light bar installed on the roof of my truck. My "regular" mechanic quoted 1hr labour per plug (8) estimated over $650 just for the labour and not including the lightbar. The glow plugs and the light bar and light control box installation came to less than $350 total!Last but not least, my Chevy Avalanche was making noise the other day which sounded like a brake issue. I just replaced my front brakes and rotors and had my (former) "regular" mechanic do extensive brake work on the rear of my truck less than 5 months ago. They examined the truck and discovered that the rear calipers were not secured to the truck via the bolts, there were NONE! This caused the caliper to wear on the inside of the right rim and wore the pads to the metal. They replaced the missing bolts and pads for an extremely reasonable price.Larry's has completely won all my business on all of my vehicles! I have a BMW that needs the valve cover gasket redone and rather than do it myself as I had planned, I will be giving the job to Larry's. The guys there are AMAZING and to say their prices are reasonable would be an absolute understatement! Yasha and his crew are completely awesome and refreshingly honest which is truly missing in the auto repair business. I will NEVER again take my vehicles to anyone else! Larry's has won a customer for life!!!

Scroll no further you have found the right place. Larry s Automotive and Truck is THE place to take your vehicle. They are honest, fair, talented, and go above and beyond. My college-aged son was traveling through Charlotteville on the way to a job interview at 8am the next morning in another city when his car broke down. How one treats a person who cannot be a repeat customer, reveals true character. Larry showed up within 15 minutes of a phone call and worked with my son to get his car towed. His hardworking, talented technicians stayed over three hours after the shop closed to complete the work so that my son could finish his trip and make his interview first thing the next morning. Larry s Automotive and Truck Repair got him back on the road with a safe car. In such a pessimistic age, people like Larry and Yasha, the mechanic who fixed the car and shared his dinner with my son while my son waited, are a very real reason for optimism. These are honorable men who go above and beyond. It is little wonder that Larry s Automotive and Truck Repair is considered one of the best if not the very best repair shops in Charlottesville. Larry - we are blessed by everything you did. Thank you. Thank you so much.

Staff was friendly and got me in on short notice to fix a malfunctioning oil pressure sensor. One of their employees tried to convince me it was a bad oil pump, but another employee sided with me when I pointed out that I knew that was not the case. Said they'd get it done in a few hours. I neglected to ask for an estimate, but I knew from previous experiences that such a repair usually runs anywhere from $100-150 for parts and labor. I stuck around the shop until the work was done.While the work was done quickly, they charged me almost $200 in labor alone. When I pointed out that I thought that was a ridiculous sum, they knocked $30 off and I left with a bill that was still over $200 for what should have been <$150 for everything.Nice people, but much too expensive.

I have Nissan Versa 2011. I went there for some hood issue, insurance and AC problem. 1. Hood still not adjusted properly. 2. They charge for AC $85. that time it was worked. But later (~2 weeks later) again it doesn't work. I think it has a leakage and they didn't find it. even if it just Freon problem just buy from amazon. The best Freon $20. The car's muffler broke same day I took my car. They are very rude to customer as well. My suggestion is find another mechanic.

Being on the road cross country expediting and broke down on the side of the road is scary.. Thank goodness we found a place that works (specializes) on Mercedes Sprinter Vans. They were friendly, professional, knowledgeable and extremely accommodating.. I would HIGHLY recommend them for any kind/type of repair work! Thank you again to all the staff!

Their repairs are always satisfactory if not excellent. The team is very knowledgeable of BMW makes and models, and does high quality work. For older vehicles, they do a good job of presenting various options using new, reconditioned or used parts.
