My Ford Fusion broke down while on a weekend vacation, and I got it towed to a Ford dealer thinking a large dealership would be a safe choice. Bad idea. They told me I needed an $8k engine replacement, and when I asked what my car would be worth for a trade-in after this replacement, they said $3500! So I got it towed to By Word of Mouth (based on all the great online reviews!) for a second opinion, and they fixed it for $1000, and it runs great!!! Wish I knew about them when the incident first happened.

This place is terrible. Over priced, they ll keep your car for weeks and things will be wrong with it that weren t wrong with it before. The typical worst kind of mechanic shop. There s my word of mouth.

Most trusted automotive repair shop in Charlottesville. They've been in the business for a many years and their prices are reasonable. I've recommended it to many others and staff is very friendly too.

Reasonable and responsible auto shop!! Didn t push unnecessary fixes, patched my tire and checked my other issues. Despite their busy schedule they still got my car back within a day and half.

Best place around that you've never heard of yet. Any problem you've had with making a car drop as either an unlucky motorist or wrecker driver has been made unbelievably manageable by their blind drop intake form and box. I took a handful of cards and have handed them all out already - some to locals who couldn't believe they hadn't heard of these guys.

I started using By Word of Mouth like three years ago? Idk they know, they keep good notes!I see them twice a year for car maintenance. Everyone is very nice and they love to joke, unfortunately, most of the time my morning brain hasn't caught up to the jokes until minutes later, but they are kind about it.It's cost effective work that leaves my car in tip top shape! They do get pretty busy, but I don't mind dropping off and coming back later or even the next day. They have always been very respectful of my car.When I was in an accident that totaled my car, I called them immediately for their advice on a body shop and they had great recommendations.I'm going to start taking my very new and very white car to them. I'm actually really excited to visit the crew again!

I brought my car here and told them I don t know what s wrong with it, but find out and fix it and I ll pay what it costs. They told me my clutch was in pieces and I had a hole in my air intake manifold. They charged me $2300 to put a new clutch in and it took almost a month. During the last week, I had to call every day and they kept telling me that for some reason (that they didn t know) they couldn t bleed the clutch. Or something along those lines, not the point anyway. So finally, after a 3.5 weeks, I get my car and the clutch feels great everything feels great. I waited to get the hole fixed in my air intake manifold because it was another $1200 that I just didn t have. A week later, my clutch breaks. The guy tells me basically that they left pieces of my old clutch inside of somewhere, i don t know, I don t care, and that that s what broke my clutch. Then they said that they wouldn t put in a new clutch **with warranty** again unless I paid the $1200 to get my intake manifold fixed. By word of mouth USA joke for a name. I have told as many people as possible not to come here. This is the worst car repair experience I have ever had.

I don t leave reviews often, but when I do, it s only because it s a stellar experience. I m an average every day normal guy but am treated like an above average celebrity here!For real though, an honest, trustworthy, reliable, reasonable, fairly priced, and every other adjective you want in a mechanic shop is hard to find!!! By word of mouth auto couldn t be more accurately named. You ll have a great experience and want to tell everyone.I ll be coming back for all future needs as well as referring anyone that may ask.

These guys are AWESOME! When the Chrysler dealership stepped away from servicing the broken motor that actuates my convertible top, these guys were my last hope! They gave me an appointment. They fixed it. And, they gave me a very fair price! I am so grateful for the service they gave me. Now I get to enjoy Spring and Summer in my antique car, that was given to me by my father. I highly recommend this business!

Being from NY we were not sure where to go to have my college daughter s car fixed. She heard a metal scrapping sound! She brought her car to Word Of Mouth, they diagnosed it first and then fixed her brakes .they were metal on metal. They did a great job, fast, efficient and explained everything to her.Ask for Randy! How often do you leave an automotive repair shop and think, "Wow, that was a great experience?" My car's exhaust system suddenly started making loud sounds and made the car shake. Matthew put my SUV up on the lift, found the problem, actually showed me the problem, and offered a budget friendly option to try to repair it. Great service. Reasonable pricing. These guys do a wonderful job keeping your car running smoothly and troubleshooting any issues and they are really friendly; they treat you like a neighbor. The only problem is that other people have discovered this too so they can be really busy so call ahead to make an appointment.

My alternator went out, and it's in a very weird spot in my car making it very difficult to replace. Word of mouth got me in and fixed it quickly, gave me good advice and also let me know what upcoming maintenance and repairs I might have. Reasonably priced and they don't cut corners!

Work quality seems great, but your patience might be taken advantage of. They fixed my car but took over six weeks to even start trying. My favorite jacket was also stolen from my car, so I'm guessing they are inconsistent about keeping vehicles locked on their lot. If you use them, be more persistent for results than I was and ensure nothing of even the slightest of value is left behind in your car.

I have nothing but amazing things to say about my experience with By Word of Mouth!! My check engine light came on two days before I was set to leave on a long road trip, and By Word of Mouth squeezed me in at the end of their day without an appointment when no other shop could take me. Not only were Mo and the other mechanics extremely kind and accommodating with helping me figure out the issue, but they also went the extra mile of fixing it up before sending me on my way. By Word of Mouth will be the first call that I make if I ever have issues in the future, and it will be the only place I take my car for diagnostics and repairs. INCREDIBLE first experience! My son (23) took his car there for first real car trouble he s ever had and they listened, and fixed him within minutes + provided explanation and advice for going forward. They could ve done a million other things in a million other ways, but were willing, able, HONEST, and so helpful and informative! It took me a while to find someone I could trust with my VW other than the dealership who charges a premium. By Word of Mouth did some serious work on my Eos and only charged a third of the price. I had another issue months later and brought my car back in, Matt and his team were thorough and provided excellent customer service. I would definitely recommend this shop to anyone - they are honest and do a quality job!

Fantastic work. For years I've known about BWOMA, but I had my regular shop close to my house. I've since moved and my shop just closed for good. So today was my first appointment here, and they did not disappoint. Reasonable prices, friendly quick service, and a genuine effort to find a solution that works for the customer. I'm extremely satisfied.
