New management/massive improvement! If you had a bad experience in the past you'll be happy now. If you had a good experience you'll be thrilled. As a prior customer, I can say the ethical and pricing clarity is top-notch and the technician expertise remains 1st-rate. Alec takes on his role in delivering professional service with a personal dedication. This shop now has the high standards that should always apply to auto service. We all know transmission issues can be expensive but "cheap stuff ain't good and good stuff ain't cheap." Please pass along Kudos to Martin...he's an Ace. (2008 Nissan Altima)

This was one of, if not the best experience I've had at auto shop. From the beginning Alec was helpful and honest about the potential repairs I would need. He was straight forward about the costs and eventually recommended that I could hold off on repairs. His customer service and honesty has definitely made me a returning customer. Thanks!

I can't say enough good things about Tyler and his team at the transmission shop! They did an absolutely awesome job with my vehicle. From the moment I walked in, I was impressed with their professionalism and expertise.Tyler took the time to explain the issues with my vehicle in a way that I could understand, and he provided a clear and fair estimate for the repairs. Hands down best shop in VA! Needed a transmission rebuilt, dropped it off Tuesday and had it back by Friday. I drive 45 minutes to go to these guys. They are the ONLY ones that will work on my cars. They do a lot more then transmission work too!!

Awesome experience!!! My transmission on my 2004 Acura went out. I called and spoke with Tyler and he gave me great information and stayed in contact with me throughout the process. Tyler was up front and honest about prices and how long it would take to repair. Tyler came in on a day they where closed and allowed me to pickup the vehicle due to my schedule. My car is driving great! I have had many repairs on vehicles over the years from many different repair businesses, Tyler and his staff is definitely one of the best!! I spent $5000 on transmission repair, it did not fix problem. They then told me i needed a spark plug which another shop that fixed the problem so i spent $5000 for WHAT?????

This is by far the best shop in Charlottesville! I had my transmission replaced and Tyler and Mark found me an affordable replacement option in great condition with a 1-year warranty. They also changed my oil and made sure everything was running perfectly before returning my car. They included a complementary test drive the week after as well to make sure things were running smoothly. I couldn't recommend anyone more. Derick, the mechanic, was phenomenal and quick. All-around great experience! I couldn't be more pleased with the care that went into repairing my car and the prices were more than fair.Services: Transmission, Steering & suspension repair, Oil change

These guys are very good and fast, Tony can fixed anything and Tyler always manages to get our car in the shop no matter the day. They also always find the best and cheapest solutions for our car problems and Tyler has volunteered to argue with other car shops that had messed with our car so that they fix it.All around best shop in town, I wouldn t even consider go anywhere else.Services: Transmission, Auto engine diagnostic, Body & Trim

I don t usually do reviews because I don t care much for them, but I want to do a review for this AAMCO because they were very honest, dedicated, and customer-friendly to where I want to give them props.Had some trouble with my front wheel making weird scraping and clunking noises and AAMCO took my car and drove it and tested multiple times on the lift. They took the time to actually examine what was going wrong (~4 days). In the end even though nothing was wrong they ended up not charging me for anything at all, not even the multiple diagnostics. I really appreciate how up-front and honest they were and didn t try to nickle and dime me.I know if I ever have any issues I ll go to this AAMCO because I trust them not to scam me.

Definitely had a good experience taking my car here. I had an issue with my transmission and instead of having to replace it, they were able to make a repair for a reasonable price. In particular, the manager was very courteous and called me back in timely manner.

The staff was very helpful and friendly as I navigated a difficult engine issue. They performed a screening the same day and notified me of the issue within hours of dropping of the car. They also recommended a place to deal with the engine issue because they did not have the capacity issue. On top of that, they accommodated me when I came slightly after closing to retrieve my car. My schedule made it difficult for me to show up prior to the shop closing for business. Still, one of the mechanics helped me get my keys and retrieve my car.The staff was also extremely helpful and friendly throughout the entire process. Dennis(the manager), and Mark were extremely helpful and professional. Very knowledgeable in fixing the issues with my wife s car. There were these two younger guys in the lobby( I asked who they were and they said they were from corporate) but they didn t seem to be very knowledgeable or very polite to the other workers as they talked over them and didn t let them finish a statement. Dennis and Mark were very sweet and provided great customer service. Told me the codes to my car and what those actually meant, really helped to break down in terms I could understand, Cars are like German to me so it really helped that they broke it down and explained it for me . Took my 2010 Toyota Tacoma in to have the clutch and transfer case diagnosed for possible issues. They treated me very well. Tyler was quick, responsive, and professional in helping me. Excellent service. Tyler, the manager, went over and above to take care of my transmission problem. He was honest and showed a genuine concern to solve the issue. We were so pleased with Tyler and his associates at the Charlottesville Aamco. Our transmission broke 1/2 way back from Richmond to Charlottesville. Luckily we were able to get the car to Aamco in Charlottesville. They were able to fix our car in less than two business days and even give us a ride to the rental car agency. They also identified the part that broke was recalled from Ford and gave us the paperwork to submit. I highly recommend these friendly folks and was very pleased with their service.Service: Transmission

This place went above and beyond to help me with my car issue with costing me way below what I expected to pay. We were helped by Tyler and he went out of his way to get our vehicle looked at, I expected to be without my car for at least a week due to the full lot. To my surprise it was finished in under 2 days after drop off. They are honest people, and the new mechanic saved me upwards of $2k, because he found out the exact problem with my transfer case issue. Dealerships would have told me I needed a complete replacement($2800~), but the mechanic diagnosed it to the T. My final bill was beyond surprisingly cheap.I recommend anyone that needs work done to go to this establishment. You will not be disappointed. They are honest and actual people, they are kind and will look out for you.P.S. - Thanks for the ride to the car rental place Tyler, that wasn t even part of your job and you went out of your way to help.Service: Steering & suspension repair

Dennis & the AAMCO crew are really good at what they do - highly recommended!They were able to fix my vehicle's transmission in a timely manner, as well as replacing my lights. Their location is close to Barracks Road Shopping Center, so you can easily shop, eat or get other things done while you wait. They even worked with my schedule too, which was very convenient for me!I thank them so much for sparing me a more expensive total from other car repair shops! They are worth checking out to give your car a second look!

What a great group of Talented Professional Mechanics!!! A pleasant surprise for sure. I had to bring my 2013 Nissan in for a transmission evaluation. I called and Dennis told me to bring it in the next day, which I did. Dennis and Jack both were kind and very professional with explaining what I was needing after the experienced mechanics in the shop checked out my car. The owner Jack runs a very good shop. Dennis found me a very good used transmission for a great deal that even comes with a 90 day warranty.
