Great shop! My family had been taking our vehicles here for years. We have never been disappointed. We are lucky to have them in our community

Great service, price and friendly people. Got my car in a day early and fixed same day. We drive from Yorktown to use them.

Truly the best in auto repair and service. Always friendly and fully transparent with the work they do. My first call when I need anything done on my vehicles.

We've been taking our Pontiac to Travis's for a couple years now based on a recommendation from a co-worker. Recently, we started taking our Mazda here to save money on dealership prices. I've always asked them to do a check on everything beyond the requested work to ensure that the Mazda is well-maintained.The last oil change/tire rotation they performed, I also asked them to perform a 150k mile check-up/maintenance and to verify the fluids didn't need a flush (because the car is 9 years old and a flush on any fluid had yet to be performed, which caused me some concern). They did the oil change (and I'm assuming tire rotation), changed the cabin air filter, and said everything else looked fine. That raised some red flags for me.Recently, I took it in to have them assess the shocks/suspension, O2 sensors, and the spark plugs because it had issues gripping the road in the rain, the check engine light was on for the sensors, and it struggled to get up to speed on the highway. They replaced the sensors, spark plugs, and the front strut assemblies. Seemed fine to me, except now the car started making a strange noise while driving, which was more apparent when braking. I took it back to Travis to have him assess and was told it was brake dust getting behind the pads - he blew it out but warned me it would likely happen again unless the brakes were replaced. I very specifically asked him if the pads needed to be replaced, or if this could cause damage to the rotors. I was assured the they were fine and it was not a problem.I drove home, but the noise started up again about 1 mile from home. After listening to this for a week, I took it to another shop closer to my house that was very highly rated by Google. I asked them to do the same thing I always asked Travis's - look at everything, tell me if there is anything else besides what I'm bringing it for. They said:* front and back brake pads/drums and rotors needed replacing* CV axels needed replacing (the tie rod end on one needed replacing as well during the work)* the fog lamp bulbs were burnt out (Travis's recently inspected this vehicle and passed it - I was not notified this was an issue at all during all the work they've done for us)* the brake fluid was low and needed a flush* the power steering fluid had a leak (there was NO fluid left - this was fortunately an easy fix of reconnecting the hose and refilling the tank, which the new shop did at no charge despite my authorization of the diagnostic fee)* the left rear tire was "bald" - the wires were showing* the alignment was bad* ALL of this was documented by the new shop with pictures as evidenceAfter the discovery of issues with the Mazda from the new shop, my husband and I took our Pontiac into the new shop for an assessment since I didn't trust the work Travis's had done at this point. This is DESPITE the fact that Travis's passed this car for VA state inspection on 10/01/2023 (10 days ago). I asked the new shop to do the same thing - perform an alignment, which it needed, assess the check engine light - and do a thorough inspection to look for any maintenance issues. This is what was found:* the alignment needed to be done (which I knew, but Travis's never notified us of during the inspection)* the EVAP system had major issues throwing 4 codes and causing major vacuum issues* The O2 sensors were throwing codes and were on their way out* The fuel system needed to be flushed* The power steering fluid was "very dark" and needed a flush* the timing belt was wearing and due for replacement soon (not catastrophic)* The lower left ball joint was loose - NOTE: The mechanic at the new shop stated "I see this just passed inspection. This ball joint is incredibly loose. It should NOT have passed inspection." Pure NEGLIGENCE.* Additional concern from the new mechanic was that the "clutch is howling" and it is only a matter of time until it will give out. To be fair - this was an obvious issue that was noticed some time ago by my husband and I.I do not recommend this "repair" shop.Services: Air & cabin filter replacement, General repairs & maintenance, Steering & suspension replacement, Auto engine diagnostic, Tire rotations, Vehicle Inspection, Wheel alignment, Brakes, Air conditioning, Vehicle safety inspection, Auto maintenance, Oil change

AMAZING SERVICE!!!! THE BEST SHOP. I have to say from a previous family-owned shop of 42 years in Hampton, I have finally found a shop just like my grandfather s shop. They are completely honest about the services they provide and do EXCELLENT auto repair. Every time I have called and asked questions the ladies up front are always nice and take the time to speak with me and explain everything including all cost and fees. The repair technicians always explain everything about the repair and let you know what to expect before the repair is done. I am so grateful for their service and honesty. They will always have my business.Services: Brakes, Oil change

First time here due to a late nite flat tire on a dark chilly night in a semi-rural area on my way home to Hampton after visiting nephew at Norfolk heart hospital & I-664 tunnel was blocked. Was SO glad I saw this place within 1 mile after tire pressure sensor started rapidly decreasing from a nail. Left my suv in Travis' lot overnight too tired to call Geico & so son came to get me. Next morning I called Travis Auto thinking they just work on vehicles but not for tires & told them I'm calling Geico to have it towed to nearest tire shop but Travis said let him check it first. He checked it out & told me if I get my key to him by 11 he'll have me out by 12. I made it right at 11 & he was done by 11:30 with everything & was a HUGE blessing to me with a price I couldn't believe that included everything! I told him he now has a new customer & the svc is 'well' worth going across the bridge for. MANY thanks Mr. Travis & to all my military family that's moved in & around that area I'm highly recommending his services! His staff was friendly & professional giving service with a smile that I could see through the phone before I arrived .

Tow truck delivered my truck to Travis' and didn't have an appointment. I went in the next morning to let them know what was wrong with the truck. Even though i didn't have an appointment, they took my truck back within a day and put me back on the road the following day at a very fair price. This is my go-to shop from now on.

BE AWARE!! This business now charges a 3.5% "convenience fee" for paying with a card, debit or credit. If I had been told when I made the appointment I would have brought my checkbook. Instead I wasted both time & gas because I refuse to reward shoddy communication. They've lost my business & any referrals.

Travis and the team have THE BEST customer service and reasonable prices. My only complaint is that they are so good, sometimes it can be hard to get a same week appt, but it s worth the wait!! They get all of my service and have for 5 years now. Of their many positives, the fact that they treat your repair honestly, getting to the cause, proposing the fix, and if it s not something they do, or theirs a better option they are up front about it even if it means less work for them. Great team from the front staff to the mechanics working on your car!

This is the best automotive shop I have ever worked with. Travis is honest and will never chase ghost just to charge you more. He diagnosed my issues and that is what I was charged for. I highly recommend this shop!

Reasonable labor rates and stand behind their work. There was small issue with install of replacement part that showed a few weeks after work was completed and it was repaired under warranty. Good to find a business with integrity willing to stand behind their work and not just out to make a quick buck. Will recommend to friends.

My husband and I were making a quick road trip and started loosing air out of a tire. We googled nearest tire repair which lead us to this place. When we got there and inquired about getting a tire, receptionist stated they don t sell used tires, don t patch tires, and won t have anyone in to replace tires until 1pm. We stopped there at 10 am. Receptionist then proceed to say there is a place a little further down that sells used tires named Clayton which happened to be a junk yard. Very disappointment.

I had to have the coolant in my BMW topped up and the folks at Travis did this in five minutes and charged me nothing, so they've earned any and all future auto repair work I shall ever need. Timely; responsive and honest: what more can one hope for! These folks are the best!

On the way back from picking up a kayak one of my tires threw a wheel weight. I was basically riding a bucking bronco on the interstate. I saw them on the side of the road, called and explained my situation, and these awesome people went above and beyond to get me on the road again. Smooth ride home thanks to Travis Auto.

Have had my old beat up explorer repaired here two or three times and they did a excellent job. They have completed all work faster than the estimated time which worked out great for me. The price is very affordable, they are not in the business to rip you off, they are in the business of getting you down the road satisfied with the work completed correctly.

My car wouldn't start yesterday morning. We usually take it to the dealership, but some recent experiences there haven't impressed me. I had the car towed a couple of miles to Travis'. I called before the tow truck arrived to make sure they could work me in (it was a Friday and I really needed the car back for Monday morning). The very friendly person on the other end of the line said that they had a fully booked schedule, but they would try their best. She made it very clear though that they may not be able to get to my car until Monday. I decided to take my chances. I got a call at work by about 10am telling me what the diagnostic tests revealed and how much the parts, labor, and diagnostic fees would be. The prices were VERY reasonable and I gave the go ahead. I got another call back before Noon and the job was done! Travis' quickly earned my trust, which seems to be a rarity in these days of diminishing customer service. I'm an extremely satisfied new customer and I will be a repeat customer (just not too often, I hope)!
