There are good people Cauthorne's Auto and Tire! I have a "well aged" 2011 328i - X-Drive BMW.... I'm sure this is a relatively obscure tire model (and unsurprisingly.... expensive to replace). My back left driver side "run flat tire" blew out on I-95 South on the way back from Northern Virginia to Richmond, VA... and I managed to "limp in" in spite of a huge gash that opened up in the tire for unknown reasons. Cauthorne's Auto and Tire (Ashland, VA) was able to find this relatively obscure tire and had me back up and running in only a couple days. The price Cauthorne's charged for the replacement tire and their cost of service was commendably fair and honest. It is refreshing to have experiences that confirm there are still good, fair, and honest people. (I even asked if it would make sense to go ahead replace both of the back tires... and Cauthorne's gave honest advice and said that all of my other tires looked to be in good shape and didn't think replacing any of the other tires was necessary at this time). Cauthorne's had impressively timely service.... it was a great experience overall!**** Also, thank you to the kind people (and especially the store manager) at Advanced Auto Parts - 307 S. Washington Hwy, Ashland, VA who were kind enough to give advice and recommend Cauthorne's Tire and Auto (1.3 miles away... just away on Rt 1).Conor Jones - October - 2023

Beware! I was a customer for over 20 years.I hate having to write this, but I wrote Johnny a letter and got no response. Recently, actually the past year or two, service really went down hill. The last 4 time I had my car worked on it was not done right, or wasn't completed. I had an oil leak on my van which I was told made the motor mount go bad. Johnny said it was the oil pan leaking, so I had him fix it. A week later it was leaking the same. It wasn't the pan. Then he told me I needed an ABS module, When I picked the van up I did not get a mile from the shop and the ABS light came on. I called immediately to see about bringing it back in. I asked Johnny twice about fixing it and he avoided the question. Then I had my van in for tires and my truck in for tires also. On both I asked that the front end be aligned. It wasn't done on either truck. That is no way to treat a loyal customer! Doesn't care if my tires wear out or about the safety of my vehicle, or my family or me!

Great customer service and very friendly staff!During a snow/ice storm, right at closing time, when no other shops were even open, the staff were willing to repair a damaged tractor tire so we could feed our livestock that night. They didn't complain, they didn't price gouge (they were more than fair on their price), and I couldn't have been happier with the service they provided. I would definitely recommend Cauthorne's Tire in Ashland.Thank you for your help that night.

After the service today, I'm changing my review. First two visits, the service was good. Today I dropped my car off for an 8 AM inspection appointment, I checked in four hours later and it still had not been completed. I decided to return an hour after my call and my car was still sitting outside and had not been inspected. There reason was the mechanic had gone to lunch which is what I had been told over an hour ago. Also they had 12 drop offs. If I had an appointment, I should have been taken care of first. If they are this busy, they won't miss my business. Will think long and hard before I consider going back here again.

The most honest mechanic I have ever encountered!! After special ordering a $350 part for me, as part of a repair they were doing MUCH more cheaply than other people's estimates, they discovered that they could actually FIX THE ORIGINAL PART, and send the new one back, which they did, saving me boatloads of cash.I was stunned and amazed! I will forever recommend these guys for anything!

These guys were quick helpful and extremely knowledgeable. They got me in right after I called and then they came in at half the price that the other shop told me my inspection would be. I asked why so much cheaper and the guy said because we fix what needs to be fixed, we arent going to try to do more just to make an extra buck. I am so happy I found a garage that is trustworthy.I bought 2 tires and had an Inspection done. Will always go back to them now that I know.

This shop will try to get you to let them replace perfectly good parts just to make a dollar. I was told I had a bad sway bar and found this to be fishy. At first they told me it was my rear and then it changed to the front all of a sudden when I spoke to them about it a second time. I took it to 2 other shops for another opinion and they both told me that both my front and rear sway bars have absolutely nothing wrong with them. This company is clearly just out to screw people over. Save your self the money and just go somewhere honest like Edwards on Lewistown road.

Stopped here after a tire flat on 95. Very kind, honest, upfront. Reasonable price, friendly folk. We re from out of town and they treated us like locals. Definitely recommended....businesses that don t screw travelers are a gem. Thanks for all the help!

Had my car repaired there I called to check the status, secretary acted like she walked into the garage to check. She then told me yes they have your car on the rack now with all the tires off mounting everything . This was 11:15 am i work down the street and rode by with a co worker on lunch and my car was still sitting out front where i parked it with the spare tire on it. Today she gave me a diagnostic price of $99 after they already did it but 1 week earlier it was $50 to $86. She then went on to act offended after i told her this. The mechanics seem to be alright but the lady answering the phones is CLUELESS. She asked " do you want them to put your driveshaft back on before you come get your car or just put it in the back of the car"? Will not go back

Cauthorne's Auto & Tire' s customer service is outstanding, I would highly recommend them! I was broken down on a 100 degree day, needing to pick up my daughter from school. Cauthorne's Auto & Tire responded to my call extremely quickly and had my car running allowing me to make it to my daughter's school on time for pick up. I can't thank them enough!

I made the mistake of driving my 2010 Dodge charger into a flooded area this past week in order to try and get home during a pretty bad storm. Called cauthorne's for a tow the next day and was pleased they'd be able to pick my car up the same afternoon. I was happy with my experience until I received a call from the technician performing the diagnostic on my vehicle. I'd taken very good care of the engine, as I love my charger, but I was told some bs story that the technicians at cauthorne's removed plugs to drain the water from the engine, but that the water had reached beyond my air filter intake and into the Piston system possibly bending a Piston rod. Was told there was no way of knowing if that was the issue, so it was recommended I simply replace my engine. Something that would cost over $4000!! REPLACE MY ENGINE?!!! When I questioned how it was possible to bend a steel rod within an engine when the engine stalled and wouldn't turn over at all once it sat in the flooded road, I became a "difficult customer". I was then told I had until the following day to remove my car from the property or I'd start being charged for storage. I called the following day to make payment arrangements by phone, since I was managing a restaurant at the time and would be unable to physically drive to the location. I was then told by the owner my only payment option would be cash in order to release my vehicle. So, I had to go through the hassle of making arrangements to leave my job to pay for my car's release before they forced me to pay ridiculous storage fees. I was also forced to pay for an 1 1/2hr labor charge, which I thought unnecessary, since they couldn't figure out the issue.I had my car towed to a dealership in Fredericksburg where they simply pulled spark plugs, replaced all fluids and filters. Only a few hundred dollars compared to a whopping $4000! Cauthorne Auto are scammers! Maybe some of their clientele are taken care of, but they definitely ripped me off! If you are new to the area and weary of an auto shop for vehicle repairs, I wouldn't recommend this location! They wasted my time, money and are horrible people to attempt to steal my money!

I had a customer stuck in Ashland at a local dealership that wouldn't help, 1 phone call and less than an hour later our customer was towed to another local dealership willing to help. Chevrolet of Springfield PA thanks you for helping so quickly!!! You guys are great!

Great staff with a lot of knowledge. Have taken my vehicles there for service. I have always been satisfied with the repairs and the price is always fair.

A good car shop will fix your car right, a GREAT shop will fix your car right and BE HONEST and These guys are GREAT. They don't try to over fix things, are honest, and very helpful and nice, plus prices are very reasonable.
