It's great to be in a friendly environment where people are welcoming and accommodating. One of the advantages of such places is that they offer a complimentary air service, so if you have a flat tire, you don't have to worry about carrying cash or a credit card to get it fixed. I find it really convenient. Additionally, there are several comfortable areas where you can relax and wait while your car is being serviced.

The individual that does the safety inspection has a terrible attitude, He failed me for my break light having sweat inside not broken at all but had sweat. Am I suppose to buy a whole light because it s sweating like literally small dots. Everything else I understood but that sweat threw me.

Yates automotive is a White Whale in the local auto repair business. They are highly skilled, customer focused and high integrity. I recently had my 2008 Jaguar XKR diagnosed by Yates for a warning light issue after receiving a really expensive diagnosis elsewhere. Yates honestly diagnosed it as a loose electrical connection and a minor repair. Well done Rob and the Yates family for your integrity. You now have my business on all 3 of our cars!!

Brought a car in for emissions and safety inspection. The car was in excellent condition so this was a pretty easy Virginia Safety and Emissions inspection for a title transfer and registration. They estimated 2 hours based on the amount of people in queue ahead of me. They completed the inspections in 1.5 hours. They answered all questions I had about needed testing for registration. There is room for improvement in customer service.

Expensive scammers + disorganizedGotten my car serviced here couple times bc its close to work despite it being pricier. Oil change is $117Last time I was told I needed new cabin filters and all 4 tires changed bc my treads were worn down. This seemed odd so I agreed to only filters- they quoted $750. The quote they gave me for tires plus alignment and labor was $1150, which included a $250 alignment cost. Most other places do free alignment if you're getting all 4 tires changed. I declined tire work.Went to pick up more than 6 hours after drop off, after being told it would be ready by 2pm. It was not. I left without changing filters, just oil change. During this time they spend ages looking for my lost ticket,and also it sounded like they were trying to figure out who had someone else's keys? Poor communication among staff.Upon leaving I got 2nd and 3rd opinions. My tires were all fine and did not need changing yet. Got my filters changed elsewhere with the original name brand filters for just $100 including labor.Theyre polite and look professional (mostly) but crazy overpriced and also clearly not trustworthy.

This place quoted me $11,000 to replace a transmission as the absolute least expensive they could find ("transmissions are expensive now") when 8 transmission shops in the area quoted $4K to $8K. Ok, they're not a transmission shop, but they gave me similar incredible high quotes for spark plug replacement. I had them mount new tires on new wheels for me and discovered they were never balanced. What's the deal with this place? I hate feeling ripped off.

Would prefer to give a negative review. Went in for a state inspection and they said needed new bulb, that there were rules about cleaning the headlight. Got there and it was more the quoted. Got home and my partner basically said those aren't new inspection requirements they scammed you. Avoid at all costs.

Yesterday I was putting air in my tires. The attendant came over and said I know you got this, but let me help you. He was so kind and when I mentioned I was having trouble finding a new tire for my car he gave me a couple of suggestions where to go. Some days, interactions like this make your day. He did mine. I always have a friendly experience here. Highly recommend!

Absolutely incredible customer service. Trustworthy and they get things done in a timely manner. I was a little all over the place when I went in to get my emissions done and they were extremely patient as well as courteous. I will be using Yates automotive from now on. You guys made my day. 10/10 service!!!

The work was done efficiently but their customer service team needs some serious work. Our insurance accidentally paid us instead of Yates and we were treated like criminals. Paola especially rude. Just be aware of this if you go here and are in the middle of all the issues that go along with an accident and claims payments.

Do not go here for state inspections!The inspector is particularly strict and overly unfair when evaluating your vehicle. My rear tail light had a broken cover, but they claimed the lens was cracked which would result in a failure. A lady next to me also failed for a small light issue. When I took my vehicle to be reinspected at another service location, it passed and they were confused why it failed in the first place.Additionally, I was quoted an insane rate for a repair. My rear tail light assembly is $284 from the OEM. I was quoted over $700 for the equivalent part, labor excluded. Charging 2-3x MSRP is such a scam. Their evaluations are a scam. All around a bad experience. Do not come here.

Not a good experience at all. The quote changed by $45 from what I agreed to on the phone to when I picked up the car the next day and their prices are insanely high. An oil change and tire rotation was $160 pre tax. They held the keys hostage basically while I argued their price had changed in 24 hrs. Will not be going back. Not worth the shady business practices and high prices.

Nothing but great things to say about Yates! They are honest, quick, and competent. Twice now I've gone in for expensive services and the Yates team has been completely honest about how the services were totally unnecessary. They could have made a quick buck off of me and my naivet�, but their honesty has quite literally saved me thousands of dollars. When they have done necessary work on my car, it's always been great!

Wouldn t recommend to save my life. Went in for a state inspection, they failed me and tried to charge me $200 to change a lightbulb. In what world do we live in will we charge people $200 to change a freaking lightbulb and you make up some lies about when you re closing and to come back if you change the lightbulb . Magically I found somebody else to do both jobs for half the price and half the hassle. Don t waste your time with Dwayne, Scott, KRIS they will get you for everything they got if you let them. they didn t even try to make things right they just said come back another day and we ll take care of you .

Yates provided really excellent service - went in for a state inspection (knowing I was going to fail based upon my tires). When brought the reasonable bill and the resolution, I mentioned in passing that the timing was not the greatest due to taking care of my son, and they arranged to pick up the car and deliver it when the work was done without my request.Very happy with the professional service, and will work with them again!

Severe lack of customer service by the senior front desk staff, as well as lack of communication throughout the repair process.I dropped my car off for AC service, and was told it would be ready by the end of the day. At no point was I told what would be done - my keys were taken, and that was it.Come end of the day, and me not hearing anything, I was thinking they just didn't get to my car. I call, and apparently the car is ready. When I come to pick it up, no explanation of what was done was given, and my question about the call to get the work authorized was met with a blank stare and hostility by the senior counter guy. His colleague tried to salvage the situation, but was pulled away.Fine, car is fixed, I can get on with my evening. However, as I paid the bill, I see that the statement that the work is not guaranteed. Again, nobody is talking to me about this, and I'm getting pushed out of the door because there are other customers waiting.Horrid experience. I suggest you try a different place.

Friendly and expeditious family owned auto shop. I ve taken my vehicle here for multiple items (oil change, mechanical work and repair after a collision). Every time, they have done high quality work for an expected price. I always feel they are honest with their estimates, work and prices. Forever my go-to shop while I m stationed in the area!

Kind of a let down. This shop seems like a great local family-run business that I'd prefer to visit versus a dealer or chain auto shop. We've visited a couple times and honestly left disappointed both visits.First visit was with one car needing an oil change. We requested a basic oil change and asked that they first let us know if other recommended work was needed before proceeding. They returned the car with full synthetic oil (huge premium that we never got a call about first) and found the engine hood hold-open arm broken, and they did not offer to fix it. Pretty basic fix most shops would just do, so I was surprised by that. The front desk woman did seem to feel bad though and offered a discount, so that was appreciated.Second visit was more frustrating. It was with a different vehicle also needing an oil change and general inspection (not a state one). I specifically requested full synthetic for this car, plus a general inspection as I suspected the AC was blowing warmer than usual. A different front desk woman replied "Ohh I'm sure the guys in the shop know what oil it uses and we always do complimentary inspections". Alrighty then. But the receipt afterward showed only basic oil was done, and no sign of any inspection. Of course the AC stopped working a week later too. A quick visit to Midas nearby determined the cabin air filter needed changing, and the AC needed recharging -- and the tech there even said both these items would've been picked up in a quick inspection sooner.These aren't huge deals but small things do add up. Based on our experience, they seem somewhat careless and don't listen to basic requests. Unfortunately we will not be returning. Bummer since it's so conveniently located and has mostly great reviews.

In addition to those things that I checked off on this list ...Yates replaced my gasket and gasket cover. They cleaned up the oil that had dripped down in the pan of my car. The list seemed exhaustive, but it is what it is and needed to be done. Now I am riding good, confident and safe. My car drives like a dream. I am no longer worried about further damage, because all of what needed to be addressed was addressed to the fullest. I use to bring my Lincoln LS to Yates back in the day and was always pleased with their work. I am truly grateful, satisfied and happy with the quality of care and the turnaround time for getting all the work done. Avoid, avoid, avoid! Brought my car in for inspection and was told it needed a tag light replaced and the headlights (which are fine) were too dull. I was quoted $200 in parts/labor for them to pass it. Brought it to another garage for inspection and was charged $16 to fix the tag light and they said the headlights were fine. I will never be returning, and I'll recommend to anyone who asks to avoid Yates.

I brought my car to Yates with a specific issue that had been diagnosed (spark plugs and ignition coils). When dropping it off, I was specific and discussed what the issue was and what we needed from Yates. Yates called and quoted around 1,700 to fix the issue and run a diagnostic.Ultimately, we decided on going to our dealership, as the cost was 500 dollars cheaper.My main issue with Yates is that they performed an additional diagnostic when I dropped the car off and charged us 175. If the expectation of a diagnostic was set when I dropped the car off, it d be one thing. But, I dropped the car off with clear communication about what I needed done. At no point was this cost mentioned or was I asked about it. They also, in the quote they gave me, failed to mentioned this initial 175 dollar diagnostic cost.All around, my frustrations with Yates stem from a lack of communication about costs, along with prices that are higher than several competitors.

Yates used to be good. They may have been expensive, but they were honest and you couldn t beat the customer service. Sadly, in my opinion, that is no longer the case. I took my car in for a plug due to a screw in a tire. I then asked that a safety inspection be done after the tire was fixed. They did the safety inspection first. They then told me they needed to keep the car another hour in order to plug it. A hour and a half later, I was told the tire couldn t be plugged due to the proximity of the screw to the sidewall. To me that seems like something that would be fairly obvious during a safety inspection. This wasn t a costly mistake (only $20 for a safety inspection), but it was a waste of a day when I could have had my tires taken care of somewhere else.Services: Tires, Vehicle safety inspection

Yates is amazing. Professional, clean, well run. The staff is helpful, courteous, and competent. They call when work is done. And they don't up-sell you on extra services. Last Sunday my engine coolant light came on in my car and I happened to be near Yates Automotive so I popped in to ask about it, since most places are closed on Sundays for car service. The mechanic quickly responded, checked and replenished my engine coolant, checked the wiper fluid just to see if i needed any and then didnt even charge me a dime. I was in and out in 10 minutes or less - which was wonderful since I had a backseat full of kids. Such a lovely unexpected customer service experience. I ll go back there again for sure!
