I ll be bringing my car back for sure!! After being quoted an insane amount from mini of Alexandria and being told I needed all this work that I didn t actually need, I brought my car here for the work it actually needed. Grant took the time to figure out what was actually wrong with the car and write up an estimate. When the actual work came out cheaper, he called to let me know, which illustrates how honest this shop is. Truly appreciate the great work they did on my car! Great shop

I felt uncomfortable when asked how much I was willing to spend for an oil filter replacement. Despite being charged $47 for labor and $21 for the oil filter, the explanation of being short-staffed didn't justify the lack of transparency. While I empathize with their situation, I would recommend others to opt for a more transparent mechanic.

So glad to have Alexandria Bavarian Service recommended to me after two bad experiences at the nearby dealerships of Alexandria BMW and Passport BMW. The first would not answer the phone and the second tried to upsell almost $4,000 worth of work and part replacements that were completely made up. I had just saved my car from Passport BMW and had called Grant a couple of times leaving voicemails. I was close to his shop so drove over to see what he thought of the upsell services and to see if he could get the car aligned for me. He was out chatting with a customer with an old well kept BMW and, after he was done, invited me in. He has a great sense of humor, knows what he is doing, and enjoys his work. Great conversation about what my car actually needed and what he could do. I left the car with him yesterday and he called this morning with it all done exactly as described and at the cost he provided. So glad to find a place to keep our 2015 X3 up and running well - the dealerships in this area are not like the one we used to go to in Durham North Carolina. He gets lots of time wasting and junk calls so has to sort through them all to get back to you. He is worth the wait if you are looking for an honest and very qualified mechanic to keep your baby running well.

Grant is a great guy, he is honest l, upfront and serious. He loves what he does and he knows it pretty well. Grant has been very helpful with my BMW Z4; the issue was complicated and he inspected the vehicle with care and observed the matter from different angles. The service is great l, Grant is unique and whatever you pay is worth it. Btw, Grant has no room for small talk and if you are really looking for mediocre and cheap services that s not your place.

Grant and the crew at ABS are real good people and do a great job. They know BMWs very well, and will provide you with the best advice and repair service to keep your BMW on the road. No complaints whatsoever, highly recommend.

Straight to the point, great service. Took my vehicle there for oil changes, brake pad changes, maintenance and big repairs. All same day service, except for a motor mount change.Grant is one of kind in his experience and knowledge. If you re looking for a place to sing pretty to you while they sneakily extort you. Go to the dealer shop. You want someone that cares about your bimmer and will find anything and everything for preventative care. Take your car there.Pro tip: call early or the day before. Leave it early. Know your car, or be humble and ask.Bummed I am moving and losing my shop. All the best.

I called to ask how much they charge per hour of labor. The guy started asking me different questions about my car, avoiding giving me an answer. I then asked again how much they charge per hour. He then started questioning me, who I was, several times. When I asked again, he just hung up on me. His voice sounded exactly like the voice in the greeting message. I called again a few times, and he never picked up. Very unprofessional.

This place is professional, helpful, and supremely ethical. They came highly recommended by neighbors, and they delivered! Car maintenance and repairs are a great and magical mystery to me, and Grant gave me the information I needed and I feel confident in his assessment. I have a 2012 Mini Cooper that the dealership told me needed major work; in my quest to get quotes, Grant was open and up-front on the phone, and was able to look at the car the next business day. It turns out that I needed none of the recommended work. Grant went out of his way to deliver customer service, and I will be going back when I do need the service.

I've been going to Alexandria Bavarian Service for over 10 years and they've never disappointed. I've had 3 BMWs and I've taken all three to them. I moved several miles away and there are several other shops that I could go to but I keep going back to Alexandria because I trust them. Highly recommended.Services: Electrical repair, General repairs & maintenance, Brakes, Auto maintenance, Oil changeServices: Electrical repair, General repairs & maintenance, Brakes, Auto maintenance, Oil change

ABS and Grant Randal serviced my 2001 BMW z3 Coupe from 2004 to 2015 when I moved from Pentagon City to Ashburn, Virginia. I now have a 2013 BMW 128i Coupe and am planning to go back to ABS. I trust them. That's worth a lot.

Since moving here from Texas, I was really worried about finding a new BMW repair shop. Grant was awesome, did not patronize me because I am a young woman, was completely transparent in his explanations and completed all repairs in the fastest amount of time. He was very communicative and made sure I understood all my options. Would definitely recommend.

I've known Grant and ABS for a number of years, having owned two BMWs that he has reliably serviced. Grant and his team do superlative work, but even more notably, his honesty/integrity have literally saved me thousands of dollars over the years. Many times the dealer has suggested work to be done that Grant has not felt was necessary. At other times, he's found problems that were covered by my warranty or CPO, and referred me back to the dealer for the necessary service.Grant came through again this week, guiding me to obtain BMW of North America's assistance with a very costly repair (which would have been over $5K) that was handled by my local BMW dealership. This is the third time he's steered me back for work that he could have easily done himself but knew that it would likely be a partially covered expense. I would not have known that BMW of North America would stand by their product so completely were it not for Grant's guidance, and I'm grateful to both Grant and BMW of North America.I trust Grant and will forever bring him my business.

Grant once again has saved me a lot of money by doing some extra diagnostic work and not doing unnecessary work. A local dealer said that my valve cover gasket and oil pan gasket were leaking and wanted $1650 to replace both. I took it to Grant and he said that the oil from the valve cover was leaking to the bottom and the oil pan was good and this saved me half the dealer estimate. ABS also corrected the brake sensor that has been grinding since the brakes were replaced by the local dealer. ABS is the only shop that I have trusted my 318i, 325i and 128i with and I hope they are around forever.

So lucky we found Grant at Alexandria Bavarian! He explained every fix in detail and showed me the defective/broken parts. Easy to work with- great communication, quick turn around, trustworthy, and honest. Happy we have our go to place for all things Mini.

I have been taking my used BMW s to Alexandria Bavarian Service for 14 years. I trust Grant (the owner) explicitly to always provide fair prices at a service level that (in my experience) often far outweighs what you get at the dealership. They are experts at BMWs, and they have gone out of their way to help us on numerous occasions. The most recent example was a very complicated problem I had with my 2006 X5, and Grant and his team work tirelessly to get the issue resolved for me. I would recommend them without any reservations.

I drove about 400 miles to Alexandria to buy a car. Before I bought the car, I called around to schedule a Pre Purchase Inspection. I settled with BMW of Alexandria, even though the representative did nothing at all to make the appointment feel personal. Even though I questioned him, he sounded dry and short...like he was genuinely busy. After I booked the appointment, I called Grant simply out of curiosity. He questioned me about the car, warned me about the potential issues and warned me AGAIN about the potential issues (2010 335i). He was very thorough and articulate, giving me more info than I anticipated. He just sounded like a car guy. You know those car guys...they just keep dishing out info as they are genuinely excited about cars. I'm the SAME way so I recognized it. The complete opposite of the BMW rep.The purchase date got pushed back while the seller was awaiting the title and I missed the appointment. Needless to say, I hired Grant to do my PPI. He was thorough and found an issue and I was able to negotiate the price down significantly, off an already well priced car.I've only talked on the phone with Grant, never met him or saw the shop. He was exceedingly nice to myself AND the seller and I am very satisfied with his service. This is a car guy, and that matters. Nice job Grant, THanks a million

Over roughly 20 years and two BMWs, Grant Randall and his team have been a godsend for my husband and me. Grant has expert knowledge about the many models of BMWs, past and present, their particular virtues and oddities. He is extremely kind and friendly, and a great person just to talk to.BMW service is not cheap, but whenever we have brought him our cars for maintenance or service, we know it will be done correctly, and any problems fixed, at the most reasonable cost. Customers leaving their cars are also driven, gratis, to the closest Metro station.Grant maintains close ties with many other local service organizations; his recommendations alone are valuable.

Great experience with Grant. I needed a thorough look over an e39 I recently purchased and he gave me a very detailed report along with excellent advice on small issues I can easily fix myself rather than paying him to do it. This is an honest shop run by enthusiasts and I will be back as a paying customer.

I completely trust Grant to tell me what needs to be done. I never feel likes he is trying to upsell me. We recently moved and are willing to drive the hour for service. And on occasion when we've had to have the car towed there outside of hours, he calls in the morning to ask what is needed. His love of BMWs is obvious.

Hooked me up with recommending the specific oil Rotella T (now rebranded as T4) to the rescue for my 80's oil crisis diesel 1985 524TD. I greatly appreciate something this simple to keep this silly diesel alive.

The cost of doing repairs here is about the same as taking my MINI to the dealer. However, this shop is not a dealer. When I asked what's the labor cost, they rudely said: "If you buy the parts, you install them" !What a rude attitude for a new customer. I can't imagine the day you have to claim warranty for a repair what their answer is going to be? "You chose us, We didn't ask you to come here!"Service: General repairs & maintenance

Bavarian wasted my time, and they will waste yours. Two days after dropping my car off for a repair scheduled a week before, my car had not been touched. Further, I had to call to discover this. I did get a call after dropping it off asking to take a second day to get it fixed. On the second day, I heard nothing--after several calls to the shop I finally got through and learned that nothing had been done.Grant seems to think that it is acceptable to take a car and not perform the service for which it was dropped off. He further seems to think that it is an imposition to either call the customer or field calls from the customer. This is life, and stuff happens--I got it. But it is unacceptable for a shop to simply not do a job for two straight days and not bother to tell the customer.

I've been taking my 328 to them since 2002, and my M3 since 2006, and will happily continue to do so. Expensive? A bit. But quality is worth it.

I've known Grant and his "Crew" for over 20years and what a Stand Up Guy!!! The work they do is "Dedicated" to the Brand and they will let you know if services can wait or if things are dyer!! The industry is full of guys who are willing to do the work but very few put the client and their needs first. People always talk about bad experiences or negativity. What I want to express for the New Year is "Extreme Positivity" and "Compliments" to whom deserves them. So with that said, Great Job to the Staff at Alexandria Bavarian Service!!!

Took an older BMW here after we couldn't figure out why it wouldn't start; tried everything. They did great (and same day) diagnostics, and told us exactly what was wrong, and were open and honest about whether it was worth fixing or getting rid of the car. Reasonable rates and fantastic customer service.
