My husband and I stayed two nights on the adorable Grand View Farm as we toured the whole state of Vermont over the summer. The location was very central to a lot of our touring spots and we really appreciated the bucolic environment, the livestock, and night walks with star filled sky. Our hostess was incredible in sharing her stories of the farm which has inspired us to come back again next summer!

As a Vermonter myself, I can say, Grand View Farm - the location, home, Kim and Chuck, and what they have to share - is the quintessential Vermont experience. We booked a weekend at Kim and Chuck's place to learn more about - and experience first-hand - Gotland sheep. Chuck was knowledgeable, informative, personable, and generous with his time. Our timing was good (first weekend in April); lambing season was over and the barn was full of lambs - some which needed bottle feeding. We arrived at Grand View Farm on a cold, wintery night during a blizzard. The trees and roads were covered in snow. Upon entering the Farmhouse Suite we were welcomed with the warm light of lamps, the heat from the wood-burning stove, and a queen-sized bed so comfortable, it was tough to get out of in the morning; except, we were excited to see the sheep and help Chuck bottle feed the lamps. After spending time with Chuck and the sheep in the morning, we retired to our suite to warm up next to the stove and have another cup of coffee before venturing north to the capital city of Montpelier to spend the afternoon and evening - well worth the trip!Upon our return to Grand View Farm, a dim light was shinning through the steam rising from the small sugar house. Chuck was boiling sap. Despite the late hour, he welcomed us in and shared his knowledge and joy of sugaring.Whether you are looking for a romantic get-away, a retreat to connect with your inner self, or an educational experience, don't hesitate to book some time here with Kim and Chuck!Nearby activities: Montpelier, the capital city of Vermont, and home to Barr Hill distillery, is just a 45 minute drive north of Grand View Farm.

We can t say enough about our wonderful stay at Grand View Farm. Chuck and Kim were excellent hosts and have a beautiful place. Our place was beautifully decorated and very comfortable and very clean. The farm is such a peaceful place to unwind and enjoy Vermont s countryside. We especially enjoyed that they fired up there outdoor pizza oven and invited us to join them. I bought yarn spun from their sheep s fiber and will make a sweater that I will cherish forever. My only regret is that we only stayed two nights!

We had a lovely vacation at the farm. It was easy to find and not far from Stowe and Burlington and several waterfalls, which we visited. The rooms are very nice. The kitchenette only has a microwave and a small fridge, but we were able to make dinner every night. It is a sheep farm and our grandchild had fun checking on them and the llama morning and evening. The host produces her own yarn from the sheep's wool, which was really interesting for me since I am a knitter. We strongly recommend Grand View Farm.Maria, Westwood, MA

Three friends and I had a wonderful fall stay at Vermont Grand View farm. Kim and Chuck are amazing hosts and meeting the Llamas and sheep were the highlight of the trip. Be sure to include in your stay the farm dinner, Vermont wine and cheese, and breakfast food add-ons -- all are amazing! Kim had wonderful suggestions for places to explore in Vermont - hooray for maple sugar farms and artists' collaboratives. If you are a fiber fan, be sure to ask about the gorgeous yarn and fiber products from their Gotland sheep and other fun items that are the perfect souvenirs for your Vermont visit. I have purchased yarn and other treats from Vermont Grand View Farm for decades -- so remember to check out their website "Farm Store" section. Wonderful rural Vermont location, charming hosts, and lovely guest house...what are you waiting for? Book for your stay at Vermont Grand View Farm!

The farm was a welcome respite from the hustle and bustle of Washington DC. Just what the doctor ordered after dealing with this past years events. We spent 6 wonderful days enjoying the countryside, the working farm and beautiful weather. Kim and Chuck and their daughter Anna were very gracious hosts. We loved learning about the farm and the sweet Gotland Sheep. The two bedrooms, kitchenette and seating area were warm and inviting. We especially enjoyed our time in the rocker on the front porch looking out over the pastoral countryside. Our felting class resulted in the making of our own souvenir of the stay. We heartily recommend the Grand View Farm stay and cannot wait until next year to return.

We enjoyed our stay at Kim and Chuck's farm. Kim and Chuck were great hosts who patiently showed our daughter the ins and outs of feeding their lambs (she even got to feed some of the lambs with a bottle!) We also enjoyed taking walks near the property and day trips to towns in the vicinity. The unit was spacious and comfortable for two adults and a child. Two things I would note guests should be aware of: 1) the house is on a dirt road that would require four wheel drive in inclement weather (we got lucky to have dry weather ) 2) bring plenty of food as there's no store nearby. We paid extra for the breakfast but would probably bring our own next time as it was only muffins, hardboiled eggs and yogurt. The farm is a great, low-key place to unwind.

Kim and Chuck are impeccable hosts, gentleman and gentlewoman farmers and keepers of a historical farm with a charming 18th century guest suite. Kim graciously catered to our curiosity in wool crafts and sheep farming. The view of the Vermont mountains is indeed grand! It was a wonderful experience as we look forward to our next visit there. Thank you for everything, Goodling family!Kimb Beers and Eberhard Geyer

What a magical place! Our host, Kim, graciously taught us about her farm and her beautiful Gotland sheep. Our visit was full of snow, a warm fire in the wood stove and outdoor hikes. Our farm stay was clean, cozy and had all of the amenities for a relaxing getaway. VT Grandview Farm is the perfect destination for a country getaway. I can't wait to return!

I have been to Vermont Grand View Farm 4 times and every time is a blessing. The mountains whether in the summer or winter are gorgeous. You cannot beat the quiet solitude at this farm, with lovely wooly sheep in the background. If your fiber inclined ask Kim if there are any classes available. They are incredibly fun and I ve learned a lot.

This is a hidden gem in Vermont! The farmhouse was filled with touches of comfort and charm, and the hosts were happy to share their farm and its operation with us. Enjoying the beautiful winter setting next to a warm wood stove and hot cup of tea highlighted each day. Highly recommended!

Enjoyed a very winter-y and relaxing two night stay with a friend. Kim s suite is beautifully decorated with handmade woolen items and sheep themed accessories. The wood stove kept us toasty warm as well as the mountain of blankets on the beds. We would ve loved to hibernate there for the rest of winter drinking wine and knitting.

I've been coming to Vermont since I was a wee little boy. This place is quintessentially Vermont - rural, beautiful, laid back. The house itself was extremely comfortable with plenty of room to stretch out. The farm setting was the highlight for me, and those amazing sheep. If I'm not otherwise staying with my mom in Thetford on future trips, I will definitely be returning!

An authentic, delightful Gotland sheep farm located in charming Vermont. Rustic, cozy apartment, sparkling clean, comfortable beds and beautiful linens. Kim will gladly talk to you about their sheep with silky, gray fur, her smart friendly border collies. An experience to remember. Highly recommend it.

This was a wonderful secluded farm. My kids and I had a great time taking in all the nature around this location. We were able to walk up the river in Chelsea, watch sunsets, engage with the farm animals, explore the gardens, find lots of insects, and catch frogs and toads! Kim and Chuck were great hosts and allowed us to use the BBQ for making dinners.

This was one of our family's favorite parts of our 10 day New England vacation. The care that the owners give both the home, and their guests is phenomenal! They are as hands on or as private as you like. Some days we watched them work the sheep, and others we played marbles and board games, took walks, and played with the dogs. Having a 16 and 13 years old put down their phones and actually enjoy life was great! I wholeheartedly recommend this to anyone looking for a "hidden gem" a little off the beaten path. (NOTE, it IS a working farm, and I would recommend it for older children and adults mostly.)

We came for our 20th wedding anniversary and loved the beautiful quiet serenity of the farm. Our gracious host prepared a delicious breakfast...vadailla onion tart, lamb and pork sausage, scrambled eggs, and fruit with yogurt. The best part was interacting with the sheep. They are affectionate docile creatures.

Recently stayed two nights at GVF in celebration of our 25th anniversary. We found our time here was everything we had hoped for (& more). The 1790 cabin was quaint, cozy and nicely decorated. It felt in many ways like stepping back into a time warp where life was slower and relaxation came easier. Sitting on the farmer s porch one evening we sat in wonder gazing skyward towards the shining stars above while listening to the rustling of the leaves in the wind. It was an unexpected treat. Our hosts were gracious with sharing their thoughts on the property, farming life and personal antidotes and we appreciated our interactions. While at the farm check out the adorable Gotland sheep and walk the farm. There is much to do and see in the area from the local farmer s market, hiking and visiting the state capital in Montpelier. All n all a wonderful stay highly recommended!

It was one of the most relaxing vacations we had. Kim and Chuck were great hosts, giving us plenty of time to socialize with the beautiful herd of Gotland sheep, which we ended up hugging quite a lot.Kim's sheep were both social and quite gentle, which is unique to the Gotland breed. They have the most lovely curls, with little to no lanolin, making them the most huggable animals. They are also extremely photogenic. If you are a fiber person, you will also love the experience of knitting or felting with the wool. The farm is beautiful and comfortable, tucked away in a quiet corner. The historic house has many great corners to discover. As you are far away from all the city lights, it provides ample opportunity for stargazing. It is a great vacation destination for anyone wanting to be close to nature and relax.

This year our family exited the beaten path in search of a quaint mountain retreat in Vermont. The Grand View Farm, Bed and Breakfast more than exceeded our expectations! Kim and Chuck Goodling are living an idyllic lifestyle on their remote sheep farm.Visiting from Florida in late summer, we welcomed the cooler temperatures, clean mountain air, and pervasive quiet. You don t really know how noisy urban sprawl is until you turn out the lights to go to sleep on your first night on the mountain. The accommodations were clean and comfortable. Part of the draw to the farm for our family was the allure of stepping backward in time a century or so. We were not interested in television and other modern pursuits. Grand View s guest house is a 19th century building, expertly maintained. It was modified to have indoor plumbing, and the bathroom is contemporary; but the rest of the house has all of the charm we could have wished for.We wanted a genuine farm experience for our children (11 and 9) and Grand View was exactly the working farm we were hoping to find. The children helped Chuck to feed the animals, and they ran back and forth between the sheep and pigs for the whole time we were there. We adults engaged in important activities like resting, and learning. We even booked some time with Kim to learn how to spin yarn. Chuck spent at least some of the time we were there building an enclosure over their outdoor pizza oven.Kim and Chuck really have spent quality time planning out their own lives. And their attention to detail is not lost when you stay on their property. Our children are still reliving the fun we had there as they go through their vacation pictures. It was a wonderful stay. We will definitely book with them again in the future.
