Took our truck in, was told it needed a new transmission. It only had 60,000 miles on it. We paid for a brand new transmission and when we got it back it had the same problem before we replaced the transmission. They fixed it but after driving it a week or two it wouldn t go in reverse and would barely drive to get it back to the shop. They have had it now for over two weeks (that s in addition to the week and half they had it the other two times we took it in). When we call or go in to check on it they don t know anything about it they say it had to be taken to another shop. They ve offered no rental car and never once called us to update us on the repair to the new transmission they originally installed. So unprofessional. We will never do business with them again.Service: Transmission

Let me tell you about my experience with Tanner. First off I'm not sure who the negative reviews came from or if they dealt with the same people I did. I see none of this poor service mentioned by others. Blaine (manager) and Adam (service tech) both knew and understood exactly the ins and outs of my truck. They talked to me as professionals and also as if we were friends. Both of them took care of my every need without question. Adam was even kind enough to fix a few small things on his way through without even charging me for it! Blaine quoted an honest price for my truck and got to work on it immediately. They paid for my tow and handled the whole process over the phone. When I went into the shop they were about 3 days into my truck. They had it lifted and transmission removed. Both Blaine and Adam went over various things and pointed out other potential problems to which they didn't try to up sell or harass me over. Overall project time was 4 or 5 days and the transmission was clean and working like a dream. I've never owned a vehicle that shifted so smoothly. A few extra problems came up during the rebuild and Blaine comped them because he wanted to keep the quote he gave me. Also I had a small leak a few days later and I stopped in, they fixed it immediately.I don't like mechanics or shops because I don't trust them. Blaine and Adam were so transparent during the process that I consider them both my personal friends. If and when I need more mechanic work that I cannot do myself, I will definitely take it here, to people I truly trust. You should consider my experience and the difference of previous reviews. Especially how long ago some of them were. Thanks again for everything guys. I'll be seeing you again.I will update this review with more information as time goes on....

I wanted to go to Tanner Transmission because I was told they were good. Although they got my car fixed it took about 3 months for it to get fixed. Granted they gave us a rental which usually does not happen. The problem was communication they got a rebuilt transmission because you know that was the best option. So when they put it in the electrical was all wonky and not working. Also a valve in the rebuilt transmission was not working and the computer would not reset so it was a faulty part.So after 3 months of trying to figure it out they just put a new transmission in. Why I am giving it 3 stars is because communication was ,to be blunt, very difficult. When you call in it goes to the regional manager who is in the Draper office he handles several offices. In my opinion all offices should have their own number that would save him time and customers time instead of calling then being put on hold so he can reach out to the Taylorsville office and so on and so forth. Also upon return of the car, it was trashed. I remember specifically cleaning the car so they can work in a somewhat clean car. What had happened is either the window got left down and someone went through it or they went through it and just didn't clean it up which company policy is that you have to clean the car. since some small cash bills where missing and some gift cards as well. We think someone may have went through the car since the window was down.It is best to go in person and either go to the Draper store or the Salt Lake store. That is where the regional manager and president of the company are located. Talking to them in person nicest folks and just in person is better then you don't go through the miscommunication that I wen through on the phone.Sorry it is lengthy but that was the experience.Service: Transmission

I dropped my truck of to have the transmission fixed and they kept it for 3 months and did something that messed the engine up then said that it was a runner valve actuator acc it wasn't there fault it was running bad. They made me pay to pick up a broken truck that i still had to tow away. I have since replaced the runner valve and map sensor and it still has not fixed the problem. 4 months later i still don't have a tuck that works and at this point they have not taken any responsibility for the problem they created. And before i dropped it off the engine ran fine the transmission just was slipping. And now if i don't tow it back in by Tuesday they will void my warranty. I would not recommend them to anyone and I'm very disappointed that i let them put there hands on my truck.

Work done was great, and faster than I expected. When I picked up the car and left, I noticed the check engine light was on. Went back to let them see, they hooked up the car to check what the problem was, let me know it was the O2 censor. I asked them how much that would be to fix, the mechanic told ne they would take care of it at no charge. I am taking the car back in today, I would've given 5 stars, the only reason I didn't is because of the check engine light and since it isn't fixed to see if I get charged or not....if they send another survey when I take this car back in and the fix it without charging me, I will definatly give a 5- star rating.

You would have a better chance of getting your vehicle repaired at McDonalds. I urge you to go anywhere but Tanner Transmissions. My truck has been towed to their shop twice because they didn't fix it correctly. They had my truck for over three weeks to fix my transfer case and they didn't fix a thing. Now three weeks and $1200 later I'm broken down again waiting for AAA to come tow my truck to a reputable repair shop. Please do your self a favor and DO NOT use Tanner Transmissions.

Went in on a Monday to get a free diagnostics and spoke to Blaine (the owner). He transferred my truck (by driving it after he told me it was broken) to there draper store without my consent. Waited all week just to get a quote 3 times as much as three other shops quoted. After telling them i couldn't afford it and denying there financing his draper store put my truck in there parking lot on a dolly completely disassembled and told me to get it towed out of there. Ended up paying 490.00 for there "work" and left on a tow truck in pieces! Read my review on the draper store for the full story. I Do not recommend this company!

Gave accidental 1 star rating earlier. Attempting to pick up my car shortly before closing time, worker here had closed early. Fortunately the owner came by a few minutes later, and helped retrieve my keys for me. Although I never ended up paying for any service, these were very pleasant people to deal with.

This has been the absolute worst experience of my life. 8 months ago I took my car in for what was only transmission readings on the engine codes and paid Tanner Transmission good money to have my transmission replaced. They told me 3-5 days and 2 weeks later I still did not have a car. For a single mom of 5 whose only transportation is that vehicle they made a difficult situation worse. Then I get it back and the vtm4 light keeps coming on and it sounds like a diesel. I returned it multiple times to have them fix what they had damaged to which they just reset the computer light and said all was okay. About 4 weeks ago again my engine light came on I took it to auto zone had them read it and it's the original torque converter issue I had taken to Tanner Transmission in the first place. So I call and make time to bring it in. The day before I could take it down it starts leaking something. I take it in figuring they are mechanics they will know what to do knowing my transmission is under warranty and they tell me they can't work on it with the leak. So I take it to another mechanic where he replaces the water pump and timing belt states he has no idea why Tanner could not work on the Transmission but that my transmission is definitely the issue and he would testify in court for me to the fact. Take it back to Tanner to do the work they were supposed to have fixed 8 months ago and they tell me 3-5 days. They call back and tell me why they are not at fault how I now have all these other issues that not auto zone or the other mechanic picked up on and tell me they are doing me a favor to fix my car because the water pump issue could void the warranty. Nevermind the fact my car had not overheated ever! So now 2 weeks without a vehicle and they are still not done blaming everyone but there crappy service. So if I could rate this negative in stars I would and I would say don't ever invest this kind of money in a company that makes excuses and blames everyone else for their crappy work.

I truly hope that their repair work is not as bad as their customer service. after talking to Mark and he promising he would call me back didnt happen.... and as to Blaine saying he would keep me more informed didnt happen, they have had my car for over 14 days and i have never been called to be updated as Blaine said he would and as of Mark he said he would find out and call me himself, didnt happen ... i am totally disgusted.......just got hung up on by Mark about my car without a solution. was told when its ready we will call you over 14 days without a call to keep me updated... What they say is a good place has now turned into a very rude company so now i will say this i believe their repair service is as bad as the customer service. i will never recommend Tanner Transmission to anyone!!!!!

Called the boss mark for a service pricing he hung up on me. I call back he asked for my number and said hed call back, never did. Then I take my car in to have servicing done they lied and only did half of the work. Never called me to say anything and still charges me full price. Called mark again he was beyond rude to me. "Since your such an expert do it yourself" and hung up on me again. I have to now drain my transmission and do it all again myself due to a trip tonite thanks for the great work !!!!! Such a Waist of time and money

I am so disappointed. I seriously hate going to get any work done ever because of places like this. I was scammed into work my car didn't need and my car is still having the same issue. They have a 90 day policy on work they do. So I go in and ask for my money back and of course they won't he said he would add what he charged me to work it needs. First of all I'm am really upset that he didn't run any codes on my car from the beginning and refuses to give me codes or do them the day I went back. I really hope this guy gets fired he was awful! I also asked for his bosses number and he gave me his. At this point I'm not sure what to do I would really like to let his boss know what he did but as of right now I'm at a loss.

I could not be more happy with this company! They are as honest as can be also There prices are the best in town. The men who work there are friendly and polite, they had my truck done really quick. I was given an estimate to repair my transmition, the estamate was 200 dollars, which is a great price. When i went to pick up my truck the total price was 178!! I was charged $20 less than i was quoted. I would defiantly suggest this company to everyone looking for transmission wok. Verry honest people and i am happy i chose to go to them. Thankyou for your help.

I took my car in because I couldn't shift because my clutch kept giving out. I brought the car in and they diagnosed the issue in the parking lot! that's the 1st problem, 2nd they diagnosed it incorrectly which I found out later. So they ended up installing a flywheel. They charged me retail for parts from the junkyard. I found this out because they never completely fixed the issue, so I took it to mark miller subaru to re install the flywheel and they showed me the part. I gave them 3 chances to fix it and they could never do it. The story is so long. I am shocked they are still in business.

Took my car in October. Put in new clutch and such associated with it. Very nice people. Great work. Had issues couple weeks ago, went back in, again same people, very nice. Pulled up into on computer. Kept it overnight. Did adjustments. Etc. It is hard getting into gear now. Clutch right. Took back in last evening. Busiest I ve ever seen them. Nice older guy up front had mechanic stop and check it right then to verify they knew what is happening. Mechanic said yes, very hard to get into gear. Etc. I knew they wouldn t get to today. My husband called. He said, I know you have been busy, short staffed, I m just calling to ask if you had chance to look at. Guy started in no. I m waiting for paperwork, warranty. Tony said it is on your computer, when we brought it in two weeks ago they found it. The guy said I need a paper copy and hung up on him. Then would not answer the phone. Hour later they finally did. Again, guy very rude. Wouldn t let me, the customer, talk. Said things don t work that way by computer. I said funny I just called slc and Sandy office. They said yes. We pull it up. They are emailing me a copy. Do not go here if Jim is working. Does not care to listen to customers.

I absolutely love the guys at the Taylorsville store. They've gone above and beyond on working on my car. They make sure your taken care of. David always kept me updated on what was going on. Tyler and Cruz were kind enough to take time to show me things and explain to me in a way that I could understand.

Great people, great service! They helped us with our transmission flush but come to find out we had a hole where the fluid was leaking out. They fixed it quickly! We will be bringing our vehicles to them for sure.

Called first thing in the morning and was able to get my car worked in for a transmission service. Fast friendly service. We have used tanner transmission to service multiple vehicles over many years and have never had a complaint.

The best service I got in a long time. They went above and beyond the service that was needed and pointed out something that needed fixing and done it for a very fair price. Great experience and will only bring my car to these guys.

One of the mechanics here saw that I was having car issues since I had pulled into an exon down the road, he had me follow him back to the shop and did a quick system check, and reset my engine computer, out of the goodness of his heart they have just won a customer.

Very satisfied on the repairs they've done. Had a real main seal leak, they fixed that and fixed my transmission fluid problem. Will definitely be going there for any repairs

I felt like they were very honest and upfront. They offered services other local transmission shops did not and were willing to accommodate me with my concerns.

I took my Nissan titan to have the transfer case looked at and the first thing the guy says is I've never worked on a Nissan before.
