Ray is awesome! He helped my get my first oil change with my new car I bought and asked me about any issues I was experiencing with it and even gave me an alignment check. I love how friendly and helpful he was with me. He is very patient and knowledgeable. With my 4th car, I have never had such remarkable service!

My first time at McNeil's and my car was a real challenge for them. Tyler was my advisor. He was really awesome through the whole process! He kept me informed, explained what parts were needed, explained what the parts did, upgraded a part for me, and other services were involved. Tyler even did test drives with me to make sure my vehicle was running well. He said, We want to make sure we get this right. I was provided with a nice loaner car. Kudos to the awesome mechanic who worked on my car and everyone that was involved. I was made to feel as if my car was just as important to them as it is to me. Thank you so much McNeil's!!!

What would you do if the car you'd *just* taken in for a leaky transmission pan died, in the middle of the desert, with your small children in it hundreds of miles away from home? I pray no one reading this review will ever have to find out. But guess what, my brother did, after trusting McNeil's with his family's safety because they warranty their parts and seemed above board. But what does a warrantied part matter when your family Dodge Caravan's transmission dies in the middle of nowhere? It doesn't. Honesty and competence matter--two qualities my brother embodies, and my guess is that since he's a good man, he hopes others will treat him the way he treats everyone. He's so generous, he didn't even sue them after this ordeal. He simply moved on and got his transmission fixed elsewhere. Why? Because earlier after an oil change they also forgot to put oil back in his car and they let him drive it away not knowing. So yeah, he'd had enough. If this review helps even one person avoid the traumatic experiences my brother and his family went through, I know he'll feel it was worth it: all he cares about is helping people. Which is what people in the auto service industry should care about too. He would give them the benefit of the doubt and say they just had a couple of bad days in a row with him but are good people. I'm more cynical, and I want to hold these guys accountable for what they did to my little brother. So yeah...don't let the warrantied parts promise lure you in: sometimes, it just doesn't matter. Especially when you have a family to keep safe.

Our family has been doing business with McNeils for over 11 years since moving to Utah. My recent experience was bringing in my 2021 Truck for its first-ever emissions test since it was new. During the emission test the technician spotted an issue with the coolant reservoir that needed immediate attention. Because of their quality check and service standards I was immediately notified of my truck s condition for its safety and care. No one does it better! Thank you thank you for always keeping our family best interest in mind. The Walter family.

Customer service was awesome, Erica was of great help and often went out of her way to assist me. She streamlined the whole process so that I didn t have to worry about my car.The mechanics were great and got my car running in less than a week (even with the busy holiday schedule).Definitely recommend them for any future work you may need.

Had a first great experience with McNeils, so I brought them a tough job that I needed in a crunch. They said they got the work done, but the car was worse than when I took it in. Having no choice, since I was moving, I drove it and it was dangerous at times shaking on the highway and causing me to pull over and wait.Communication with McNeils started great as they promised they would take care of it with their network of Napa or whatever mechanics. The mechanic where I moved described it 'a death trap' and refused to take anything for looking at it.It wasn't a gem to begin with, but McNeils made it worse, denied responsibility, and never called me back, but they did remind me to send a review!

My son did his research on what kind of service he wanted for my vehicle. McNeil s did an excellent job and kept us informed along the way, even providing me with a great loaner vehicle. I plan to go back there and I will highly recommend using this auto shop.

They mark up parts 100-150% and will milk you for time/labor.They claim that their diagnostics indicated that one minor part needed to be replaced when there was several codes including a CAT Code that indicated that the Catalytic Converter wasn t operating efficiently, they claimed that according to their diagnostics that it was operating efficiently so they replaced the minor part.A few days later the check engine light and all of the same warning lights came back on so I called McNeils to let them know and they wanted me to bring my vehicle back and said that if there s another problem that it s on me and that they will only warrant the part that they replaced.I was upset because I expected them to accurately diagnose and fix my car as they assured me that they would do in the beginning. They kept my car for several days and would call me each day with more bad news and tell me that the part didn t fit and that they needed to order a different part and that it will take another day. I told them that I just wanted to pick up my car and they made up the excuse that my car was in a bay taken apart by the mechanic and that they were going to work fix it the following morning.

Very expensive, but worth it. Had a radiator crack that developed due to the extreme cold in Montana and manifested when we arrived in Utah. Erica was able to get the vehicle in the next day and make the necessary repairs, plus a couple extra PM items. Awesome customer service and excellent transparency through their tracking map site. If I lived in Salt Lake City, I d definitely make them my regular mechanic.

This is an amazing business. Every person I talked to was so nice and the owner is so awesome. They did a ton of work for my car and even with inflation it was reasonably priced. I would absolutely recommend McNeils! I ll definitely be coming back for all of my car needs!!

Friendly, genuine people here! On my way home from Draper Park I noticed the tire pressure was down low. The manager is such a straight forward, nice woman and I can't believe she remembered me with all the people she meets daily. I pulled around back and Josh filled the tire, checked the oil and said that I could use a little. Anthony kindly added a little oil and both were so friendly, including with my kid who was chatting at them from the back seat.Josh explained that McNeil's is also doing apprenticeships to help people get trained as mechanics while they do their schoolwork. I love this way of doing things without people having to go into huge debt to become professionals. They take care of our car but they also take care of us. Thanks McNeil's.

1/10. These guys are frauds.Incompetent mechanics with atrocious pricing. I brought my car in for a CEL diagnosis. They had my car for 2 days and all they did was text me pictures of it and changed the oil with the wrong type of oil. Then they charged me $290. I will never go here again.

From the time I brought my car in until the time I picked it up I was kept in the loop of things that were found and being done. The professional manner that was displayed by those that work at McNeils was absolutely amazing and I was made to feel as if my car was just as important to them as it is to me. Thank you. I will always bring any of my vehicles and have the confidence and trust that I will get the best repair. I was treated aa I m important and the goal is to get a safe, dependable and comfortable vehicle to be in. The work done was top notch and everything was done in a fast and caring manner. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE. My girlfriend's car stalled on the highway about ten days ago. It got towed to McNeil's. The clearest thing, of course, was an issue with the alternator. McNeil's diagnosis was that the battery had died (this was suspicious, since dead batteries don't usually cause a car to stall out, but rather won't start to begin with). But we trusted them and allowed them to go ahead with replacing the battery and a host of other recommended touch ups (changing the radiator hose, topping off the oil, etc.) since we were just so relieved to not have to replace the alternator which would have been far more expensive. All in all, we spent $663 on these fixes. When we go to pick up the car, however, the mechanic lets us know that the alternator is in fact failing intermittently, and that that was likely the issue all along. So, NOW we had to have the alternator replaced, which came to a whopping $1,194 (in addition to the $663 we would not have paid if the right diagnosis had originally been given). While this convenient realization at the last minute resulting in a higher check for McNeil's also seemed sketchy, we still trusted that it was just an honest oversight. When we went to pick up the car the next day after McNeil's had closed, we opened the hood just to check the oil and see the new alternator. We noticed that the oil dipstick was missing, which if we had not noticed would have led to serious issues down the road (an alarming oversight and one that we're fortunate to have caught ourselves). So, we had to drive back down the next day to pick that up. Three visits to McNeil's and almost $1,900 later, we at least hoped the car was fine. Well, it wasn't. Two days ago my girlfriend was back on the highway and stalled out again, smoke coming out from the engine and all. We had the car towed this time to a different shop. As we have learned from the mechanics there, apparently when McNeil's changed the radiator hose they didn't replace the filler neck, and the pressure from the new hose caused a rupture that spewed coolant everywhere, causing the engine to overheat. For our troubles, McNeil's has offered a free oil change. Needless to say, the last thing we want to do is go back there. And hopefully no one else does either. Save yourself the money and the troubles. The most McNeil's has going for it is that their service advisor, Erica, is very nice. But her niceness is not enough to compensate for the incompetence of their mechanics.

How to handle a miss diagnosis?I took my truck here with front differential problems. I described the problems to Erica, the service writer. I had whining noises, oil blowback, poor handling, and NO 4 WHEEL DRIVE. They charged a 250 dollars diagnosis fee. They called back saying my front differential was fine and it was my front pinion that was causing the problem. I approved the pinion work, and spent just under 1,000 dollars for the repair. When I picked up the truck I had the same problems as listed above. I brought it back the next day and they charged me another 250 diagnosis fee. This time they did say it was the front differential, and in my conversation with Erica she said they had not put the truck in 4 wheel drive to test the front differential on the first diagnosis. NOT A THOROUGH DIAGNOSIS. In other words, I paid 1,000 dollar only to have the same problem. They told me it would be 1,600 to fix the front differential. I approved the 1,600 dollar service, only to have them call back and tell me its actually going to be 2,500 dollar service, for a grand total of 3,500 dollars for what I had originally brought it in for.I find that this experience with McNeils is not thorough, professional, and has been frustrating.
