Really impressed with the professionalism of Ben and his guys, and with how honest they are. Quoted me hundreds less than another transmission shop to replace the clutch in my Mustang, and they did the job quickly. They also did me a solid and secured a loose muffler for free. Ben saw there was a minuscule amount of dirt on the carpet of my car before I got in after the job was done, so he got down and cleaned it himself. Absolutely going here for any other transmission work I need to have done.

After 3 separate times/ 7 months of having our truck,2,600.00, excuse after excuse, finally got it back. Leaks oil and makes funny noise. NEVER USE THIS COMPANY. May have been good once, but now is just an excuse for poor workmanship, lousy customer service, and terrible mechanics. If I could give a negative star rating, I would! Sick, no hydraulic lift, out of town, traveling, every excuse you could hear and I will NEVER recommend this company! Go to a real transmission shop and get it done right the first time!Service: Transmission

I needed a total new transmission, Ben offered me the chance to see if we could locate one in good condition on the parts sites- Success! Respectful of my budget, a plan to move forward was reached. The quality of work is second to none! I went back to Ben with a new issue and he directed me to whom he trusted to meet the needs I had with my exhaust system. I will always trust and do business a business that looks at the bigger picture. You can not go wrong, for major automotive needs you cannot do any better than working with Ben and his crew!

Great people. Ben took a test drive with me to go over the transmission and help me figure out the issues I was having with the transmission. Then he even helped me figure out some issues that were about the motor not the transmission. Seems very knowledgeable about what he is doing. Would definitely recommend them! Thank you

My 2000 Van was not shifting right and I went to Ben expecting a large bill. Turned out an oil change and filter fixed it for $200. He could have easily charged for something else. I really appreciate the honesty and quality work. I wish them much success.Service: TransmissionService: Transmission

Beyond grateful for these guys . After purchasing a used truck from a dishonest man , I was left with a lot of issues costing me tons of money . The guys at transmission man went above and beyond to get me safely back on the road and had me drive it around and make sure everything felt comfortable before leaving . Their price was reasonable and the owner even gave me a ride home twenty minutes away while they did the work just so I didn t have to pay for an Uber . Really good guys , fair pricing , and quality work ! Highly recommend this company and will be promoting it everywhere I go . Thank you again

Great experience! I called a few other shops and most of them wanted me to bring the vehicle in before they could give me a quote. One dealer wanted to charge for a diagnostic. Ben told me over the phone what the most common failure point is on my particular transmission and what the rebuild would cost. The work was completed fairly quickly and the price was reasonable and exactly what he had quoted. This is the only transmission shop I'll be going to with any future work.

Ben was extremely professional and respectful. Drove in to salt lake from phoenix and my transmission blew. He went above and beyond to get me back home. Let me take his personal car back to phoenix as I was in a time crunch meanwhile he finished my repairs. After repairs were completed he personally deliver my car. He kept me updated through out the whole repair. Extremely recommend.Service: Transmission

Ben and his crew went above and beyond to make me a happy customer. I saved $2000 going to Ben (quotes from 2 other shops were $3800-$4000, I ended up paying $1900 to Ben). But on top of the savings, I had an issue with my car starting 2 days after the transmission replacement and Ben drove all the way to my house to make sure it wasn't an issue from their work. Turns out it was a faulty starter that they then replaced for me also. I highly recommend going to these guys, its refreshing to know you aren't getting ripped off and getting severely gouged with labor costs. I hope I never have to replace a transmission as it's a very costly ordeal but if I do I will for sure be returning to these guys! Thanks again Ben!!

Ben is hands down the best mechanic I ve worked with! He did a great job rebuilding the transmission on my car and helping me with a few other repairs. He offers reasonable prices and guarantees the quality of his work. If you re looking for great service and quality repairs, I highly recommend Transmission Man!

After another Transmission shop messed my transmission up and after 13000 miles it went out I took it to Ben. He rebuilt and it still had an issue with shifting to second gear unless you back off the accelerator. He worked on it again and the issue was still there. Again he went through it still could not find where Freeway Transmission had screwed it up. He purchased another transmission to rebuild went through it and it now is perfect. Did I mention that through all this he paid for a rental truck to pull my travel trailer on a trip I had scheduled? Ben you are my hero. If you have transmission troubles and don t go here your warranty means nothing. Be prepared to pay for it again. Thank you again Ben!!!!

Great shop to deal with. Had the transmission in my truck lose reverse on my morning commute. With a description of the symptoms Ben was able to accurately diagnose the root cause, that was later proven correct after everything was disassembled.Delivered on promises made and stayed several hours late to make it happen. Will definitely bring any other transmission work back to these guys in the future.

Took my Explorer in a couple months ago. I had transmission major transmission problems. They had to rebuild it. Out of 3 shops they quoted me a fair price but their ratings by other google users made me feel comfortable doing business with them. Ben was my custom service contract. We had a little hiccup at first but Ben made sure things were done right. He provided excellent customer service. I would recommend this company! They are very professional.

I had looked around for a good shop to fix my truck. I had a friend refer me to Transmission Man for the work I needed done. I called and Ben knew what the usual causes of failure on my transmission were. I had my truck towed in on Monday, and they had the work done by Saturday. Ben kept in contact the whole way through the process. Even while in the process of moving to a different shop they were still fast, as well as reasonable on price. If I ever need transmission work done again I will be going to this shop

Its kinda weird to leave a 5 star review on mechanics since we all hate large bills. However, the trans in my truck was blown and Ben was nothing but upfront, honest and to the point. He called me very often, sometimes even in the evening just to let me know where they were at in the process, what if anything had popped up that they didn't know about and above all he held to his quote. He towed the truck for free and no matter what else that popped that he had to replace, he stuck to his original quote and even gave me a discount when I was short on money. This place is amazing and really surprised me, thanks guys!!

Ben is a terrific guy and very contentious!I lost a transfer case while traveling to Washington on a Saturday. I found his shop by chance and had my truck towed to his shop that evening and left a message. Monday morning he got back to me and said he'd have it ready on Tuesday. Just amazing!

I have a 2002 GMC Sonoma. The car has more sentimental value to me than anything else. About a year ago my transmission started acting funny. It would drive fine until I hit about 35 mph, then I would lose power from the transmission and couldn't accelerate past that. Everywhere I took it to be checked out I was told to either get rid of the car, or the shop wanted to replace my transmission for thousands of dollars. Then I took it over to the Transmission Man. After the diagnosis, which was free, they figured out what was wrong and told me they could rebuild the transmission. The cost was significantly less than other places. So I went with the Transmission Man and didn't regret it. Almost a year later and my transmission is still working great.Don't let their name fool you. They do more than transmission repair. I would definitely take my car back to them for additional repairs.Service: Transmission

We were traveling through Utah when our car that was hauling a small travel trailer broke down. Not knowing the area we called Transmission man since he had the best reviews. He came out and picked up our travel trailer first brought that to his shop then brought my husband to get a rental car and came back to tow our SUV, He got all the parts and fixed it by the end of the day!! We were so happy for the fast and great customer service

Bought a motor home from a guy that had just put a fresh rebuilt transmission and with 18 month warranty from this place so he could sell it. About 4000 miles later it throws a code for a solenoid sticking and starts shifting funny.February 7th I get it in and a week or 2 later they tell me it should be an easy fix in the pan. Weeks after that I start asking about it and get various reasons it's not getting worked on. A month and a half after getting it in, covid-19 sets in I get reasons for it affecting them but they say still open and going to get to it since they're an essential business. They are courteous when I call, but now we're pushing up against 3 months and still not getting any sort of estimate or status update. If it weren't for the warranty I'd go somewhere else. I can't imagine if this was a primary car for someone, even though it's an RV it's starting to push into prime time for camping. Already missed one planned trip with it. I get that warranty work isn't a money maker, but if you can't stand by your work than what good is it.Jury is still out for the repair, hoping it is fixed right and not much longer. Will post an update.[update] It came back fixed under warranty as promised. The only frustrating thing was how it took few months with little communication. Maybe it would be different if it were a primary car instead of an RV.

Phenomenal service! Stand up people at this shop! I came in for my transfer case leaking on my 2006 Chevy Duramax 3500 and Ben walked me through and showed me the common problems he has seen with these cases. They rebuilt the rear end of the transfer case and replaced the case saver. He has great people in his shop that stand by their work. I would recommend this shop for any of your transmission needs! They have very fair prices and will not cheat you! If you have no knowledge of vehicle mechanics or are very experienced in mechanics he will be consistent and very fair. My experience here was excellent and I would recommend this shop to anyone! Let this be the first shop in the area that you go to! You will not be dissapointed! I will travel great distances to have shops I trust work on my vehicles and this one is now on that list!

I don't usually write reviews but some companies just outshine the rest. One of them is The Transmission man.My truck has been giving me some minor issues and felt like it could be transmission related. Instead of waiting I decided to have it checked out and repaired before it got worse and ended up being a financial disaster. After reviewing some reviews on Google (Yay Google!) I found this local transmission shop that seemed fair. I stopped by and met Crystal, the friendly front-desk gal (she probably has a more official title) and Tom, who immediately offered to take a spin in the truck to see if he could determine the problem.Of course, the truck wasn't exhibiting the symptoms very badly while we were driving it and it was difficult for Tom to determine the issue, so he asked if I could leave it and they would do a complete diagnosis of the problem. So I did. They spent a day on it and called me back. I was dreading the potential bad news. Tom said that it was not my transmission but that I had some bad leaf springs and that the differential was torquing, causing the small jerking that I was feeling every time my auto transmission was going in and out of what I think was first gear. He also discovered that I had a bad O2 and Speed sensor for the ABS. He offered to replace the leaf springs for a fair price but said that they weren't bad enough to be dangerous and I could wait too. When I declined to have them fix it, he was pleasant and didn't make me feel like I was stupid for not having them fix it. When I asked how much I owed for his time and the diagnosis, he said I owed him nothing, even after I insisted that I valued his time and he should be paid for it. This is a gentleman that could have vary easily said that my transmission was bad, kept my truck for a week, replaced the leaf spring for a used but better set, never touched my transmission but said he rebuilt it and charged me $2,000 to $4,000. I wouldn't have even discovered it, and he would have easily gotten away with it.So if you are having transmission problems or think you might, go to The Transmission Man. Say hi to Crystal and let Tom take good care of you. Oh, yeah...did I mention they have the cutest bull dogs? One is 2 years old named Turbo and has a lay eye. The other is a puppy that couldn't be much older than 6 weeks. His name is Magic and they both are absolutely adorable.

Absolutely incredible. We were referred to this mechanic by Bill and Randy's, (our regular mechanic, but they don't work on transmissions) and he was one of the best mechanics I have ever gone to. He was very clear and fair with the price, and even went out of his way to make sure he could get us the best deal possible. Many mechanics treat you like you don't know anything, but the Transmission Man explained everything clearly and helped us narrow down the best way to take care of our car. He is now in our permanent go-to list for mechanics.

Upstanding and Outstanding Mechanics at this shop! I'll never go anywhere else! They took care of my '03 Ram 2500 and did a full transmission rebuild for $500 less than any other quote I got. It did take a little longer than expected, but I also explicitly told them no need to rush as a I had a loaner car - they are as busy as you'd expect the best transmission shop in SLC to be. A roommate of mine referred me to them about a year ago as they were the best price he could find for a rebuild on his '01 Impala trans. They are at a new location (3942s Howick) that says "Madsen Auto" on the side, and I believe a new owner, but they still honored my 12mo/12k warranty when I went in for a checkup. (Turns out it was me having a bad U-joint that caused the issue, but they still did a lot of work and charged me nothing). Many thanks to Ben and Tyler for taking care of my truck, honoring the old shop's warranty and getting me in-and-out quick and worry-free.

It's been years since our visit, but I still remember it was after hours when we called around to see if any place was open for our manual transmission that had just gone out unexpectedly. The owner answered the phone even though he was closed and drove over to meet us. He told us what had happened, how it happened, and gave options on fixing it. We decided on replacing with a used transmission to save on cost and never had any more transmission problems until the car was totaled last month (about 4 years). The work was done quickly, well, and reasonably priced.

Three vehicles worked on. First rebuilt transmission works great and done in one day. Second was a diagnosis turned engine exchange and took maybe 9 months, Third was a Diesel transmission which seems to work, but leaks. The problem is they don't prioritize by when something comes in. I figured a transmission would be easier than the motor replacement which is why I gave them one more chance. We took it in February and after trial and error it seems to work, but we have missed 3 camping trips because it still has 3 bad leaks (we had someone else blue die the leaks) and it's now the end of May and no call backs. Simple gasket leaks that should be in and out. Don't get held hostage and go somewhere else. Two stars because eventually things work for a good price, but when it becomes a hostage negotiation to get your vehicle back working, its worth paying more.

I was so hoping that we could add a 5 star review for this business. Because of all of the great reviews, we thought we'd be in great hands. My husband brought our van in, went for a drive with an employee who determined that, good news!, we didn't need a new transmission but likely just a new sensor. We were thrilled. After that, though, absolutely nothing happened. We were told it would take a few days to get the part. After not hearing anything, my husband called and they seemed unsure about any of it, saying they'd get the part ordered. Again, we heard nothing. Called again, left a message, no response. Called again, talked with the manager/owner?, who said he'd forgotten and he'd order it right then. Told my husband to call again, which he did. As you can guess, we eventually gave up and went somewhere else. Unfortunately, it wasn't just the sensor and now that we've spent the money on that, we will have to have the transmission replaced anyway. We've just wasted several hundred dollars and about two months of time. Maybe Transmission Man isn't interested in the little jobs, and if that's the case, they should have made that clear from the get go. It was a very frustrating experience.

I have 20+ vehicles from passenger cars to F350 trucks and vans. These guys do our preventative maintainance and so we rarely have a failure. When I ve bought used vehicles with bad transmissions, I call and they haul. Whoever builds the units in their shop, knows this stuff. They want you to come back some day and work to make sure you get a good product.

I chose to get the transmission on our van serviced at Transmission man based on the 5 star reviews they have here. I can only say that I made the right choice. While servicing the transmission they had an oil leak service by a neighboring shop and I paid Transmission man for the service. After a couple of months I had an issue with that service and asked for reimbursement from Transmission man for the expense to fix it. When I called Tyler to review the situation; all he said was "NO PROBLEM I'LL TAKE CARE OF THAT FOR YOU". I would highly recommend Transmission Man to my friends and family. Thank you Tyler and BEN.p.s. The Transmission works great and was priced very fair.

I can not say enough good things about Transmission Man. Ben helped us out, and he is amazing. He saved us SO much money. I really appreciate what these guys do. I am more then happy to add my word to the reputation of this business. I will recommend all my friends and family here.

Took my Envoy in due to the AWD system. Initially, they thought it was going to cost around $800 to open up the transfer case. They did some more inspection and it was a small part that only came to $300. They seemed honest and did good work; I would recommend them to anyone.
