These guys saved my bacon! I was traveling from out of state trying to do a fun trip with my kids while mom was away, and my transmission line went out on me! They got me patched up in no time at all and were very professional! I highly recommend them to anyone in need. Thanks again Trent!

While driving through town our car started chugging and all the warning lights came on.Pulled in to Schafer 10 mins before closing. All the guys were so kind looking at the engine. And after a simple fix we were back on the road! Thanks so much! You fellas were a Gift! Wouldn't have made it out of town without you.Highly recommend.

I had damage to the underside of my car and I was a couple hundred miles from home. I drive a VW diesel so a lot of mechanics don t like them and parts are hard to come by. They were able to order are part and over night so they could get me on the road again. In short, they were amazing and went above and beyond my expectations. Highly recommend!

We stopped at Schafer Auto Clinic as an emergency on 1/2/24 when we broke down in Monticello almost 200 miles from home. The owner Russ got us right in to be seen by technician Bert, and not even an hour later we were back on the road. No major fuss, no upselling, no unnecessary paperwork or added expense. Just quick work, honest answers, and a working car. One of the best mechanic experiences I have ever had.

"Rebuilt" my engine meaning they didn't replace any gaskets or copper fittings. The engine smokes just as bad as it did before they "worked" on it. Told me I didn't need to replace my clutch when it was flatter that a dinner plate. These guys might know how to change oil, but I'd be skeptical of that even. Total losers here

Russell, Bert, Cory and crew.....there's no words to describe how grateful I am for Schafer's Auto Clinic. Traveling from Texas to Provo and I had a transmission line failure on my 2021 GMC that they jumped right on. THIS is how a business is supposed to be run!!!

Wow! I can t say enough good about these guys! We limped into town with an overheating Jeep, on our way home to Texas. When seeing all the cars on their lot, I expected they wouldn t have time to help us. I told them about our situation, and they immediately put a tech to work trying to diagnose our problem. It was obvious they had a lot of expertise as they worked through troubleshooting the issue. They worked with us all day, and during this time they were extremely kind and courteous. The atmosphere in the shop is relaxed, and they made us feel like family. They even let my husband help and stay after hours in their shop trying some things on his own, since he usually works on our cars but didn t have his own tools with him on this trip.It was eventually decided that we needed to order parts and would have to stay over the weekend. The guys offered us info about things in town, and one even invited us to church. They seemed to genuinely care about us and our situation. We returned on Monday, and again they immediately started work on the Jeep. They replaced one of the parts and within a couple hours we were on the road again. We really appreciate that these guys had tried several inexpensive options rather than just automatically order parts and charge us for an expensive repair. We were absolutely comfortable with their work and knew we could trust them to not charge us one penny more than they had to. Since we were both missing days of work due to the parts delay, this was really helpful to us.We are so grateful and very happy with the service they provided. We would not hesitate at all to recommend them!

Came over the hill from Arches NP and our F350 DRW went into limp mode while towing a fifth wheel (won t go over 45mph), with a check engine light on. It was brutal to go up the hill but at the top we saw this auto shop and pulled over to see if they could help. They came right away and pulled the diagnostic codes for us. Something to do with coolant, but didn t make sense since we just had the truck fixed and inspected before we left Grand Junction,CO. The guy at Schafer gave us a paper with some things to try- let engine cool, check radiator, etc. While we were doing this we found a loose sensor that wasn t even connected, so he had his mechanic come and plug it in for us and said the person before probably didn t lock that sensor in place properly. Schafer Auto saved us a huge headache and we are so grateful you were able to help these stranded travelers. Thank you thank you!!!

My experience here was the best interaction with a mechanic that I've ever had. Very knowledgeable and courteous. I Can't recommend them more highly!! I had a severe oil leak as I was traveling across country in my bmw e46. I called first thing in the morning and they told me they were extremely busy but would take a look at it. I brought it in and they paused what they were working on to examine my car. An hour later everything was fixed and my car was doing great! So happy I found them!

We were Campground Hosts for eighteen months in Monticello Utah. I had my Ford F350 7.3l truck and Toyota 4Runner repaired at Schafer Auto Clinic during our stay there. Last week I drove from our home in New Mexico to Monticello Utah (300 miles, 600 round-trip) because they do such a great job and are so fairly priced. In my 47 years of driving I have lived in several states, and had my numerous vehicles serviced by many auto shops, some that I would recommend, and a few I would warn against. I put Schafer Auto Clinic at THE TOP OF MY LIST as the BEST AUTO SERVICE I HAVE EVER HAD! I would recommend them to anyone.

Wheel bearings on my campervan became worn & damaged during a recent southwest road trip. Got "stranded" in Monticello UT - far from our home in Arkansas. Schafer Auto repaired the van's quick as they. Parts had to be ordered. After the repair, had no more issues; got home safely. Being an out-of-towner, Schafer did not take advantage of my situation & was very kind. Their pricing was very fair. Monticello is very fortunate to have Schafer take care of their vehicle repair needs. I highly recommend them.

We were traveling through town and our water pump went out. It was on a Friday afternoon, on a holiday weekend. Luckily Schafer Auto Clinic helped get us on our way again. Trent was so helpful and went out of his way to keep us happy. We killed town doing some different things in town and Trent came and picked my husband up to get our vehicle after they finished the job. Wouldn t recommend this company enough.

Great customer service at an honest price. Our truck had an issue on a road trip, Mr. Schafer and his team got us back on the road the next day. So grateful, would highly recommend!

Stopped in to see about borrowing a wrench to check lug nuts after remounting a patched tire several miles back. They were extremely friendly despite the interruption, and even came out to check the tire themselves. Also, the dog was very sweet

These guys saved the day! My check engine light came on while I was on a road trip, completely reliant on my car. They recognized my situation, got me an appointment next day, and fixed the issue same day. The price for the fix was completely reasonable and I am so grateful to them for their help!

I offered him a blank check to stay open an extra hour to help me out while on a road trip. He must be good for other people because he has all the money he could ever want. Unwilling to help. After a great night in Valley of the Gods I limped the van home adding water at every stop. No biggie. It was a family adventure!

We came across Schafer Auto while searching auto repair shops after my front axle seal stared leaking when we were camped in the valley of the gods. Trent said he would be able to get it fixed the same day we had called. He was super nice on the phone. When we pulled in he said he d be able to start on it sooner than anticipated. The mechanics on duty were also very nice to us and highly knowledgeable at their craft. They made us feel really comfortable while the work was being done. Trent even offered us to use his truck to check out the area. They also have the best shop dog, Oliver! Schafer really cares about the service they are putting out and cares about their community. It s nice to see this happening in our world today. We were back on the road in no time without worries of being stranded. Thank you so much Schafer and crew!Service: General repairs & maintenance

My girlfriend and I were driving through Monticello with a persistent check engine light, and we stopped in at Schafer's with no appointment or anything at 9 am on a Tuesday morning. Even with a lot jam-packed with cars, Trent took the time out of his day to take a look at it and put our minds at ease that it was just a mild sensor malfunction, and nothing to worry about. 2000 miles from home this was a great relief, and I would highly recommend him to anyone. If I lived closer he would be my go-to mechanic I absolutely cannot say enough good things about Schafer's.Service: General repairs & maintenance

My daughter and I are traveling from Nebraska to Arizona for college and got a low tire pressure icon on the dash for the second time. We came to these guys and they where so sweet and got us in almost right away. They found a little piece of metal in our tire, plugged it up and sent us on our way. They where very sweet super helpful and truly a huge help! I would recommend them if you are having any problems on the road or in general!

Cannot speak more highly of Schafer Auto Clinic - I'm not one to write reviews, nonetheless long ones, but I think they deserve it. I'm on a road trip and I think it's always nerve-wracking going to a mechanic, but especially in a new place, because you never know what you will get. I am so happy I ended up here (thanks to the rest of the amazing reviews, which I echo) because they are all professional, friendly, knowledgable, helpful and most importantly, very honest about anything that needs to be fixed. I went in for a routine oil change/maintenance check and they still did an overview of the whole car just to make sure it was in tip top shape. They told me my brakes may need to be replaced soon but it was not at all needed right now (even with the amount of driving I'm still doing). I was reassured they weren't one of "those mechanics" and truly just want to make sure everything is running fine, and I fully believe it. Unrelated to how helpful they were, I had to stick around to wait for my car and it was such a joy chatting with everyone there, and meeting their friendly pets. Highly, highly recommend. Thank you to everyone there!Services: Air & cabin filter replacement, General repairs & maintenance, Brakes, Oil change

Schafer Auto Clinic is a Godsend. I came here after having my van break down while traveling. Trent from Schafer was completely understanding of my circumstances. He was willing to install a salvaged cylinder head I found even though I didn't buy it from him. He was kind. Took his time with me. Was communicative throughout the whole process. He gave me an incredible price for the install. He really went the extra mile. Trent and Schafer were a dream! And just for some context, Schafer took over my repair after failed attempts with two other mechanics. One got sick and my ordered part never came after a week of waiting. And the other was rude (Devon's). He said I had to order the part from him (meaning wait another week) and would not allow me to bring in the salvaged cylinder head I found for him to install.Schafer saved the day.

So thankful for Trent and his auto shop. We were visiting the area from Florida and had a friend travel in from New York to explore the National Parks near by. My friends van broke down and was towed to another mechanic in town. After a week of waiting for the repair job we were told it would be 4-6 more weeks due to specific parts not available. I did some leg work and found the part about 3 hours away and delivered it to mechanic who still said it would be severally days before he could work it. After talking with Trent and telling him the issues we were having he went and picked up the van from the other mechanic and got right to work on it. He got the job done and was so polite and went way beyond customer service. Even covered dinner and a night at a hotel for my friend.Trents mechanics found additional problems in the engine bay and took the time to correct the issues instead of allowing the car to fail later down the road.By far the best mechanic experience I have ever dealt with. Thank you Trent, your awesome.Service: Engine repair

I was moving cross country back in June and my car decided that would be the first time in 70k miles to break down. I was alone with just my pups while my spouse was deployed so I was an absolute crying mess when I pulled in. Trent was so kind and helped me calm down and got me back on the road the next day. I'm so grateful to him and the mechanic that worked on my car. They were the only shining moment on that trip and I'm so thankful that I pulled in there! Truly a great shop.

This is my first time leaving a review, but I trusted the other great reviews and went here and it is a great place to go! My car stopped twice before getting to Monticello and ended up needing a new fuel pump (makes sense based on the age/make of my car). It was good luck that the part I needed was in town, but it was even better luck to have such a great mechanic right when I needed it. I was in and out in 2.5 hours and my car has been running great since. Reasonably priced, super nice. Awesome service and great experience!

Kind and Honest. My elderly mother was passing through town on a long trip when she thought she had a leak under her engine and the check engine light came on. The mechanic did a thural check under the car, under the hood and with a machine. He took time out of his busy day to give a lady peace of mind . Thank you for your kindness.

Not to sound like a broken record with all the other reviews, I love these guys. Traveling, engine trouble, last minute call , Trent answered, bring it by, we ll get you sorted out ! . Pulled down into a crowded , snow covered lot, in a truck with a trailer. A witty guy with a quick smile named Bert was pulling a truck out of the shop. I said, am I in the way? He said, yep. I knew we were in the right place. Everyone in the shop, cat and dog included, were friendly and kind. Long story short , truck fixed, great memories. There are caring people out there, and a group of them work in a garage in Monticello Utah. Thanks you guys, and thank you for the follow up call two days later to make sure we ( and the truck) we re home safe. We are .

We were driving through and had an injector go out on our truck. We were 5 hours away from home. We pulled in and their mechanic got to work on our truck right away. They were very personable while we waited and did everything they could to get us home the same day. Their mechanic is very knowledgeable and efficient and their price was very fair. I cannot thank them enough.

We was traveling in our RV and stopped for a night in Mountain View RV Park. While traveling the day before, our transmission overheated and we wanted someone to look at it before traveling back to Arizona. We called Schafer Auto Clinic at 8:05 AM, they asked which RV park we was in and came to us! Bert thank-you so much for coming to the RV park, we never expected that and thank-you for honestly telling us what had happened. We had the transmission flushed before our trip and they overfilled it. So, it put our minds at ease and we made it home with no transmission problems. By the way, we love your little town in Monticello, Utah.
