Surprisingly great place to stay in dusty Mexican Hat UT. Room was nice and comfy and had all the needed amenities. We enjoyed the pool deck overlooking the river, reminiscent of a fine resort in other locales. This was the speediest place we stayed during our 9-day scenic drive thru southern Utah's incredible national parks, but we we on a side trip to Monument Valley, and it was worth it to stay in fresh clean accomodations.

There are few lodging options in this area. This one is overrated. It once was nice or was on the way to being very nice, but something must have happened because maintenance and improvements seem to have halted. Many things are broken, unfinished and abandoned on the property. See Abigail P's review for more with pictures. This being said, our room was nicely updated although it was beginning to look worn. The pool and hot tub were wonderful with a nice view, but once again the pool area was showing signs of neglect. I hope that the property gets the necessary tlc because it has potential.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for 1 night on our 6 day vacation and it was amazing. The views a fabulous, the rooms were updated and comfortable they had a mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker! A nice walk to the private beach (San Juan River). The pool and jacuzzi are perfect for any age, there is a easy walk inside and a side with steps, both gradually walking into the deep end of the pool (5ft). The pool furniture looked brand new and very comfortable and Inviting, over looking the river!!! The hotel had queit a few guests staying there but it felt like my husband and myself had it all to ourselves!!! The swinging steak house down the way was amazing!! The owner Joy and staff made you feel right at home!! Great conversation with a lot of history..FABULOUS ENDING TO OUR VACATION. I highly highly recommend you stop and stay for a night, grab a steak and relax!!!

First and foremost, avoid this town. This hotel is adequate but overpriced. If you insist on staying here, book by phone. The online booking service upcharges you for each additional person, including children. We stayed here based upon favorable reviews we now know to be unmerited. Avoid this hotel but more importantly, avoid this town.

My husband and I stayed 3 nights at this quaint inn. The view from our hotel door was awesome. My husband walked down to the river multiple times during our stay. The owner was terrific. She was very nice and friendly. It was a wonderful location for us. We went to Monument Valley twice and did some traveling to Durango, Four Corners and visited pretty much every place within a couple hours. As a previous guest said, don t judge by the outside of the building. When we opened our hotel door I was pleasantly surprised and pleased. It was a decent size room with mini fridge and microwave and everything was very clean. Also the burrs another guest mentioned come in on your shoes so I would recommend taking your shoes off right inside the door.Sitting outside our room in the evenings was relaxing and we had pleasant chats with our neighbors as well. I highly recommend this to anyone who is traveling in the area looking for a nice comfortable place to enjoy and stay for a few nights.

The place is decent. Room is of good size, decent bed and large tv. The AC was too loud. Overall it was not a 4-star and the stay was underwhelming. The worst part of the stay was that some one put a nail under our cars tire. As soon as we backed up from the parking, our tire got punctured. Dont know who we rubbed the wrong way, or what prompted it, but it caused us trouble and we has to find a tire repair shop. Hope it not a common thing.

This was one of only a couple of places to stay in Mexican Hat. Hat Rock in was nice and the room was large and clean. Service was hard to get in touch with. We went to swim in the pool but there were no pool towels. We call the service number, no one was attending the office, and it took about 1/2 hour to get some towels delivered. The on site restaurant is closed. We walked to a nearby restaurant for dinner. This place could be so much better with a little care, service and maintenance.

Clean updated rooms. Comfortable mattresses and good bedding. Fluffy towels. Nice sized bathroom. We appreciated the fridge and microwave in the room. Very friendly and accommodating staff (thank you, Joy!) Very nice pool area; it felt like we were at a resort :) Beautiful view from our room (on the San Juan river side). Quiet hotel/location.Wifi speeds were very slow. While the room was clean, the exterior of the building could use some sprucing up (spider webs, dirt, etc). The cafe was closed.Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at the Hat Rock Inn!

We stayed here for two nights. Unfortunately on checkin there was a large cockroach in the sink and then there were several smaller cockroaches observed running across the floor. The hotel was not at all clean and we also had a difficult time reaching the place to confirm our reservation. I would not recommend and would strongly suggest people stay in Bluff and make the drive in to see the monuments. There are no good restaurants or food near also so plan accordingly.

Very clean rooms. The pool & hot tub are one of the best I have been to in a while. The view is wonderful. Shade areas. We had a large group stay here after a raft trip. Wyatt at the front desk was very friendly and helped with our needs. Very happy to meet him. Thank you Wyatt! Our lower floor room seemed to have been remodeled more recently than the rooms on the 2nd floor. Also higher ceilings on the ground floor rooms. We will absolutely be back. The only con was the ice machine was not working but a gas station is a block away and open till midnight for any needs.

On Google Maps, as of 5/2/2023, the Hat Rock Inn is listed as a 4 start hotel. To me, that was very misleading and I was disappointed when I realized that this was a motel, especially for the price we paid for 1 night. The pictures on Google Maps are much more glamorous than the actual motel is. For example, there are windows that have been busted out. I would not recommend staying at this hotel to anyone.

Stayed for one night while passing through the area. This is a great hotel! A small town hotel, driving by it seems like a sleepy/maybe closed location, but it was awesome! The rooms look just like they do on the website/in pictures. Roadside rooms are very quiet. I would definitely stay again!

Such an awesome place to stay. Rooms were nice and clean. Owners were very friendly. Stayed here 2 days on a road trip through Utah. Every day had the pool to ourselves. You can even walk straight to the river. Amazing view of stars at night. Would definitely stay again.

Really nice place, super clean, pool was fantastic was spotless with towels and a cabana at the poolside. Went swimming pretty late at night under the stars. Great restaurant and shop close, highly recommended! They are also adding on in the back that looks like it will be even better. There are not many hotels right in this area and it's a convenient stop on the way between Antalope Canyon and the Mexican Hat. I would definitely stay there again.

Nice room. Convenient parking. Great pool. FANTASTIC VIEWS!!! 4-Star Motel? On what scale? 3 stars? Yes, definitely. 4? No. But, it's still a nice motel. Hat Rock Inn is located on the San Juan River, and the views are unlike anything I have ever seen. There was only one thing I found slightly negative -- they highly recommended the on-site restaurant. I was not impressed with it. The Olde Bridge Grille was much better.

We stayed 2 nights and could not have been happier. The room was clean and spacious, the king bed very comfortable and the pool/hot tub beautiful! Combine all that with a friendly and helpful staff and beautiful views and you have a wonderful experience.

Loved staying at Hat Rock Inn! Nice and clean rooms, comfy bed. There is a pool with a hot tub overlooking San Juan River. Poolside is a terrific spot to watch sunset. Very friendly staff. Would stay here again, and definitely recommend to others.

Me and my friend stayed here for one night whilst visiting Monument Valley. The town is rather quiet so I wasn't expecting too much of this hotel in the desert. But, the room we had was fantastically modern and clean. Beds were good and I cannot say a bad thing about the room. It surprised me a lot. Would recommend and would stay here again if I was in town. It is only around 30-45mins to Monument Valley form here.
