First time to Alta and we are thrilled with our choice of the Alta Peruvian Lodge for our one-week stay.It s truly a lodge: from the fires to the cookies to the coffee and hot cocoa to the cool bar to the all-included meals you really feel at home here. What s more because it s just a specific lodge experience and not like a typical hotel, the other guests have been lovely to get to know.If you want super posh amenities, skip this place. But if you want a truly authentic experience with good food and a fantastic vibe you can t go wrong here.Pro Tip: really study the website to make sure you re clear on the lodging options and to understand how dinner works. And bring a bathing suit and flip flops for the outdoor heated pool and hot tub!

Incredible cosy lodge for Alta ski season. Great value for solo skiiers with dorms, three excellent meals a day, complementary shuttles upon request to Alta and snowbird, no need to deal with infamous LCC traffic. First class service with old school charm with a fun bar that hosts great live music each Sunday. Heated pool, hot tubs, and sauna are amazing after a ski day. The lodge pairs you with others for dinners that have fun and lively conversations. Very unique, a real gem. A bucket list stay for any skiier of any age.

Just spent some time here for a wedding and it was just beautiful. It s a bit dated, but adds to the charm. Everyone had such a great time. Thank you Patrick for helping me retrieve a lost item!

This is a classic ski lodge with an amazing vibe. It's rustic in the best way. The location is great...it's a few minutes walk through the parking lot or a 3 minute shuttle to the lifts. The food, communal seating, is very good. No Michelin stars, but tasty. The rooms are clean but minimal. We opted for the shared bathrooms, which were also clean and fine to use. All in all, a magical skiers destination. We will be back.

The Peruvian is my go to perfect ski lodge. The accomodations are basic but that makes it even better. The chef is wonderful. The included meals are very "cruise ship" in nature with a group vibe. Box lunch to go is great but returning to the lodge is worth the time off the mountain. The pool is hot and accommodating. The nightly movie in the basement is great fun. The bar is welcoming and friendly. The living room is my favorite early morning spot near the fireplace. The staff goes to great care to make your stay memorable. With this year's epic snow depths, it a perfect ski vacation. Don't take your snow boards as the mountain doesn't allow them. Snowbird does just next door.

Classic old school European style in right at Alta, arguably one of the best mountains in the world. It is nearly the same as when I stayed there 30 years ago. It is communal with meals and hang outs. It attracts genuine guests and while it is not luxury it is authentic and perfect for a ski trip where your focus is the mountain. The staff are great. They are well trained service persons ( not like some of the people that work at Snowpine a place up the road that costs twice as much). The experience is great. I just wish the beds were more comfortable. It was the only drawbackNearby activities: Alta. Enough said.

This was my first solo trip to the Alta Peruvian, and it has to be one of the best places in the world for that kind of trip. I had a great stay, met a ton of interesting people, and had some of the best ski runs of my life with a ski patroller visiting from WY and a college kid from CO - both of whom I met over lunch at the lodge! Love this place and can't wait to go back - solo, or with friends/family.Nearby activities: Some of the best skiing in the world!

58 years of much skiing and on March 4, 2023 I had the best four runs of my life - steep and deep - and the sun shone through for a couple of hours. The next day brought even more - 18 inches of light fluff. Come and get the white blanket serenity before this mind blowing ski season at Alta ends. The outstanding staff and management of the Alta Pervuvian Lodge will strive to take care of your every need. And, there is the P-dog, kicking out authentic music, for topping on this world class cake. Come quickly!Rooms: Whatever room one gets, from the basic Nordic, to the newest Superior Deluxe, are all well thought out. Yes, no TV in room to distract from serious sleeping to prepare for the next days ventures. But the hangers and hooks for drying ski clothing are abundant. The sheets are sparkling clean and the staff are all eager smiles. The motto seems: true substance over form. You will not find any Vail neon glitz at the APL. But you will be in the midst of world class skiing shared by intriguing and authentic people.Walkability: With a little bit of fun search, the APL is ski in-ski out. But, in any event, the Van s drivers of the short ride to the lifts are reliable and steady.Food & drinks: You will not go hungry. The APL advertises three meals. In reality, the fruit bowls are always stocked, the hot chocolate and cider always available. And, to top it off, the daily after ski snack of chicken wings, cookies and the like like outside the hot tubs, has been generous. Yum.

The Alta Peruvian has a distinct character. (This was our first visit back to the Peruvian in several years. We last stayed at the Rustler). It is a place for meeting and talking to a lot of people. Everyone shares tables at breakfast and dinner and always talks. Go to the bar and folks come up and start chatting. You meet a lot of interesting people and that makes it fun. The bad side is the maintenance, service and food. On the maintenance side, the hot tub blowers weren t working. Our room was renovated and the bathroom was new, but they clean it so infrequently that there was mold growing on the corners in the walk in shower. The food was terrible. Our fist night was buffet night. They ran out of prime rib and green beans (it was the last time we saw a green vegetable until night 4). The second night we sat at 6.30 and they had no rolls. One night they had run out of salad. One night we had a 6.30 table, and it took until 8.30 for our main course to be served. Dinners regularly took 2+ hours. The food is basically terrible. All the meat (other than the steak, which they cook to order) is overcooked and covered with a sauce. The approach to is how cheaply can we provide food minimize fresh vegetable and put sauce on everything. You need to book your dinner time each night in the morning by 7.30. I understand this, and they do this at the Rustler too, but at the Peruvian the kitchen / dinning room throughput is so low that guests start lining up at 7 to 7:15 to book their table for that night. Breakfast is like Hampton Inn, fine by low end. The fruit is mostly cut up melon. When they bring a fresh bowl out, there are berries on top and guests make a bee line for the berries. At least I could buy bananas at lunch on the mountain. A lot of folks stay regularly at the Peruvian and they told us the food was a lot better a couple of years ago. Bottom line, its got a lot of camaraderie, but the food is horrible. We won t come back

A wonderful, historic place to stay while skiing Alta or Snowbird. Their very frequent shuttle provides quick and easy access to Alta s base areas, and skiing home at the end of the day is easy enough. All the necessities are well taken care of, with very good meals and a bar on the premises. The outdoor pool and hot tubs, along with the poolside bar, offer relaxation and socialization after a long day on the slopes. Rooms are rather spartan (no TVs and small bathrooms), but you ll likely find yourself using this space for only sleeping and showering. A real highlight of the day is dinner, at which you ll be assigned to a table with other guests. I wasn t particularly excited about the random table assignments at first, but this led to many fascinating conversations with people from all over the country- some of whom have been coming to the Peruvian for decades! All in all, this place provides everything the serious skier needs and then some at reasonable (for Alta/ Snowbird) prices. It s not the Ritz or the Four Seasons, but we loved it and hope to be back next season.

I honestly did not know what to expect before my visit to the Alta, Peruvian lodge, but this wasn t it - and I was so pleasantly surprised. From the gorgeous scenery and location to the communal dining experience, the Peruvian Lodge is as unique as they come. The amenities included 2 large hot tubs, heated pool, bar, restaurant (all inclusive food!), laundry, sauna and several large common areas full of retro games and various beverages and snacks. The guests and staff were all exceptionally pleasant. I am Looking forward to the next opportunity to visit again a new tradition. Thanks For having me !!

Cool eclectic feel. Chill people. Minus one star for not being totally ski in-ski out. Minus another star for claiming they have TOP NOTCH DINING on their website however only serve popcorn until you make dinner reservations.

This was our first time to Utah. We booked Alta Peruvian based on the small and intimate feel. The European style lodge is so cute and everyone was nice and welcoming. Our room had the most beautiful views (#76)! We watched the moon rise over the mountains each night. The bar was chill with games and skiers hanging after a long day. The hot tub was busy but we got in and met many people. Grab your robe, a cocktail, and enjoy! You can lounge by the fire in the main area or downstairs in the large tv room. We liked the all-inclusive meal option where breakfast, lunch, and dinner was apart of the package. It s a family style dining which allows you to meet new people. We rented ski equipment and the locker was included. You walk right out and make your way to Alta ski area. The shuttle will take you anywhere around the area and we never had to wait long. Our driver James was great! We will be back!

This was my first time at the lodge and it was great. From the time you step into the place you feel like your part of the family.. The staff is super friendly and engaging and will put you right at ease. Its a laid back rustic lodge with only one fault. The walls to the rooms are thin and you can hear everything in other rooms. However, as a place to lay your head it did the job. The beds are super comfortable as well. If you're thinking of staying in Alta you have to check out the Peruvian Lodge. I will definitely be back.

I have fallen in love with this place. Before I even arrived the staff were so extremely helpful and nice which has continued thru my entire stay. I am a picky eater and was worried if I would enjoy the included meals I can t wait to sit down at the restaurant and eat! The food is delicious and the staff are so helpful with food allergies plus there is always a great selection to choose from. With a great location, an amazing energy and vibe to the place, a great bar that had a rocking band one night I was here plus so many other amazing ammenities I can t recommend this lodge enough. I already can t wait to come back.

We really loved this place. The employees and other guests were very friendly. The facilities and common areas were cozy and inviting. It was nice to not have a TV in the room. We enjoyed having all meals included and family style - The food was very good.I told my wife that a previous review warned against leaving valuables unlocked; ironically she left her purse in the dining room for half a day and it had been brought to the front desk safely - we had absolutely no issues.

We had our Wedding Ceremony and Reception up at the Alta Peruvian Lodge (The P Dog). We had a fantastic time, and the wedding was memorable. We were able to set up days before and had the freedom to decorate; however, we wanted. Our guest loved the laid backfill. We had to move our ceremony inside, but it made for a beautiful close wedding. I would not change it.

A quirky, dated but well-located and friendly place to stay near the slopes. Ski-in off a black tree run. Ski-out only via the free shuttle van.Rooms: Small, comfortable room with twin beds and a tiny bathroom. given the history of the Inn, we were not surprised. Fortunately, the bar noise and music died down after 10 p.m.Food & drinks: Excellent breakfast and lunch buffet. Dinner choices exceededmy expectations.
