What a wonderful place. Many thanks to our host in March 2024 when we made a stopover here. Really great, super clean rooms furnished with lots of love and great attention to detail! You feel like you've been transported back to the 50s. But with state-of-the-art facilities and the best Wifi. Many thanks also for letting us use the BBQ facilities and everything in the barn. We absolutely loved it. At the end we had a small free breakfast in the pittoreske lobby, we wanted for nothing. A straight 10+ and for guests of all ages definitely recommended. Viele Grsse aus Mecklenburg, Deutschland!

Located between Fredericksburg and Johnson City, near LBJ Ranch SP, Stonewall Motor Lodge is a delightful hidden gem! Room 7 was very clean and comfortable, with WONDERFUL attention paid to us by Tim, the manager, especially during the very bad night storm and loss of power. Very clean, happened to be an ADA king bed room, with well-built roll-in spacious shower, the floor actually keeps the water in the shower. The small room's vintage decor was fun, but also incuded high-end amenities: wonderful pillows & bed, K-cup coffee maker & creamers, AC/Heat, TV. One suitcase stand is provided (seems the standard of all similar lodgings, frustrating for those of us on long trips with 2 suitcases), but we were happy that a special frame had been built over the vintage fridge which perfectly supported one suitcase. We enjoyed the park area behind the lodge!

We enjoyed our stay in cabin #17. I was alittle hesitant at first until we walked in. From the 1st step inside, we felt comfortable in the surrounding. The beds and pillows were top notch and very comfortable, even having a fan on the center table between beds was perfect. The shower was wonderful as well. I would truly recommend this to anyone that wants a good nights rest. The hospitality was top notch and I really enjoyed going back to the main office for a fresh cup of coffee. Also waking up one morning and seeing the Axis deer just sealed the deal. Go ahead and book that room, you won t be disappointed.

We stayed in one of the RV sites and it was perfect for us. The location is excellent, Tim provided awesome customer service and the grounds are well-maintained and inviting. Even though the Stonewall Motor Lodge started as a motel, the addition of the RV sites and the cabins make it a wonderful choice for travelers with various lodging needs. As a bonus, there are numerous outdoor gathering areas that accommodate people wanting to chill. We will be back with a group of friends next time we visit the Texas Wine Trail.Nearby activities: On this trip, we used Stonewall Motor Lodge as a base for exploring several local wineries & vineyards: Adega Vihno, William Chris, Hye Meadows, and Ab Astris. There are many more in the Hye/Stonewall area within a 15 minute drive of the motor lodge.Noteworthy details: The wooded area behind the motor lodge is clean, quiet, and inviting. It was the perfect spot for our dog to stretch her legs and for us to sit under the big trees and enjoy some down time. There is an outdoor sitting area and a party room (the barn) that could easily accommodate a couple of dozen people. The space is perfect for some quiet time before (or after) visiting the busy wineries.

Stonewall Motor Inn is a little gem in the Texas wine country. Highly recommend!Just needed a place to stay while traveling through, and was pleasantly surprised. Everything is fresh and new and very clean. Such a great retro design and keeping with the period of the original motel. We appreciated the well stocked coffee bar in the morning.Of note, after traveling the world with lots of hotels in all price ranges to compare, this was the cleanest hotel room I ve ever experienced. The rooftop patio is a nice place to sit and relax in the evening.Stonewall is a little bit out of the way, so prepare to either drive for food, or bring yourself a nice charcuterie and bottle of wine for the evening. There is one Italian market nearby that serves fantastic, pizza, gelato, sandwiches, etc. But we found that they were not open on a Tuesday night.Rooms: Newly redone with a 1960s retro vibe. Super clean. Comfortable.

This Motor Lodge is a gem! The staff were friendly and accommodating, made suggestions for local eateries and told about all the amenities on the site. Walking around the property, every corner has something cool; the Barn has games and a t.v. in a very cool and cozy atmosphere, the deck above the carport is a gorgeous hill country view with comfy seating and string lights. The lobby is open with brochures for local brochures, extra coffee, and merchandise! We stayed in The Press Room which has such a cool history for the LBJ White House Press Corps. Close to both Fredericksburg, and Johnson City, there were lots of cool choices to built our itinerary from and the staff has app information to help with local choices. My only criticism is that we went on a very cold night, and it took a long time to warm the room up with the wall unit.We had a great time, and will definitely be back!

The Stonewall Motor Lodge is cancelled our reservation after 4 months. We were to attend a wedding in June 2024 and I made reservations in December of 2023. In March 2024 I received an email stating they cancelled our reservation to make room for a Peach Jamboree. So our reservations was cancelled due to their mistake. Stay at your own risk!

Thoughtful esthetics. But a little disappointed in the details. Tv wasn t working. Remote needed batteries I think. Front door seal had cold air coming in the room. Random Hanger was left out on the porch. They were flexible with our booking schedule and worked with us so customer service was great. Overall fun space but felt it was over priced after visiting.

We stayed at one of their RV sites. While the sites are a little close together, the area behind us was large and shaded by big trees! They have 2 cool gathering spots with the outdoor area having heaters and blankets to keep warm! Tim provided excellent customer service! Thanks!Nearby activities: Close to lots of wineries!

Rooms are very comfortable and clean. They have trendy decor with a coffee machine, fridge, and bath supplies. Enjoyed the quiet and loved the rooftop at night. The check in process was super simple, they send you a text or email with all the info and don t even need to go into the office for assistance. We went to the castle winery nearby, tried out the vinovium since it stayed open late. Also got to experience the elephant preserve 9 min away and truly was an amazing time. I really enjoyed our stay and will be recommending this motel to more people.Nearby activities: The elephant preserve, the castle winery, vinovium for late night wine, and proof and Cooper for some late drinks and good food/entertainment.

I loved my 2 night trip to the motor lodge! I loved hearing the history behind it and seeing the original pictures of it in the lobby. I stayed in The Press room and definitely recommend it if you are staying for more than one night. It is updated but still has the style of the 60's. The roof patio was awesome! The staff was so great and informative! When I come through the area again, I will definitely be staying here!

Rooms are very nice and clean - very happy with keyless entry was EXCELLENTNOTE: no daily service in room - plenty of towels for my weeks stay - just no pick up of dirty towels and garbage. If you need a TV then it could be a problem - TV takes a LONG time to start and when trying to change stations(annoying)Suggest a bigger table that reaches the chairs GREAT refrigerator and coffee/tea set-up Will definitely plan on return stay next year

We had stayed at Stonewall many, many years ago, the new owners/management have made it do an about-face - different as night and day. Everything was new, nice, clean, and so accommodating. LOVE the keyless entry. Only slight disadvantage was the TV but a call with a prompt personal attention from manager helped explain it was just slow and completely different. Our church campgrounds are nearby and we fully intend to make Stonewall Motor Lodge our home of choice whenever in that area!!! Thanks.

Extremely friendly and accommodating! We broke down a few miles down the road (family with 3 small children), and they assisted us in finding transportation, late checkin and late checkout while we waited for the car repair. Rooms were clean, nice, updated and very comfortable! There was plenty to do on the grounds for a young family waiting for the car shop: games, outdoor seating, outdoor activities and space to walk in nature, as well as the barn and a rooftop lounge. Honestly an excellent experience for a young family in a bind!

The room was nicely decorated and styled. The room was very clean and check in the was easy! The property is very nice with the rooftop deck and area out by the barn. I wish the mirror in the bathroom wasn t so high and the small vanity doesn t allow much room for all your toiletries. The walls are this so it can be noisy at bedtime and wake up. Also a number was provided for questions. We arrived early and wanted to leave luggage. We texted the number with no response.

Very clean, perfectly located, historic motor lodge! Great for those that want to check out wineries, Fredericksburg, Johnson City along highway 290. Many spots are within 15 minutes. We stayed in the Press Room, which is where the press would supposedly stay while LBJ was at his ranch during presidency. The state park/ranch, also great to tour, is nearby. I believe it may be the only room with a kitchenette. Relaxing environment with a barn and sky deck as others mention.

Truly enjoyable stay. Quiet, well appointed rooms, but what makes it truly special are the little details.50s style motor inn has antique style radio and mini fridge. Towels and toiletries were fantastic. Common areas out back were great. Our room was clean and very comfortable. Management was pleasant and responsive. Will definitely returna

The motel was clean and comfortable. The deck was the perfect place to unwind after sightseeing in Fredericksburg. We were able to enjoy the breeze and enjoy a bottle of wine over some great conversation. Communication was excellent. I liked the ability to be able to get into the room when we arrived after hours. I would definitely stay again.

Clean, stylish, comfy beds with nice linens and well located - halfway between Johnson City & Fredericksburg and close to the wineries. Upscale toiletries and big fluffy towels. We enjoyed the rooftop deck. We didn t utilize the Barn or the back sitting/grilling area, but they looked great. Would definitely return and recommend to others.

Great updated motor lodge that takes you back with its retro vibes. Rooms are very nicely appointed. Only complaint is that it does get a bit noisy in the morning and can hear the neighbors a bit. We are early birds so it wasn't such a big deal though. Loved the virtual check in and getting the door code sent by text so it was easy peasy.
