I gave them one star only because it won t let me give ZERO. I gave them $2000 to order a new transmission and when it came in they said it was the wrong transmission and would have to be sent back. They said they couldn t fix the transmission and would reimburse me the $2000. We had the car towed away from their business because they couldn t fix it but they refused to reimburse me the $2000. After several months of trying to get my money back I gave up and took them to small claims court and won a judgment against them. This is the absolute worst business I ever dealt with.Service: Transmission

I took my 700r4 transmission to smith automotive 4 times they couldn t get it right it has been 5 or 6 months since I firs took my transmission to them I got a 1 year warranty but I won t be taking it back don t take your transmission to these guys I m out $1100 plus the transmission fluid is almost $100 every time I have to replace itService: Transmission repair

If I could give a one star review I would. These people never answer the phone, never follow up with return phone calls regarding automotive inquiries. They have done a poor job of servicing my husbands truck. The vehicle has been repaired for the same thing 3 times already. One of the times the vehicle failed out state leaving us stranded. After getting our vehicle home and paying over 1500 getting it home, they still let the vehicle sit in their shop for 5 days without servicing it. I don't know about you but I dont have the time or money to waste on a rental vehicle We are without a vehicle and having to deal with so much stress due to a poor repair x3. Would not recommend . Save yourself and pay the extra to go elsewhere. These folks do not make you a priority.*****Edit for update******One month later and after being reprimanded for posting a accurate business review and my husband being told "I don't care if your truck sits out there for a month." We finally have our truck back. Honestly one if the worst business experiences ever and sadly wouldn't return even with the warranty we were given just to avoid dealing with the mental stress. The poor communication was enough to make anyone pull thier hair out. We were treated pretty unfriendly. Wouldn't recommend. My car was having transmission issues, so we came to this establishment (the closest one around) and it was returned to us a few weeks later. I drove the vehicle seven hours away to where I go to college expecting my car to have been repaired. After a week or so, I noticed an exhaust smell, and I took it to the automotive technology center at the college. What they found was shocking to say the least. Not only was my transmission not even touched, just spray painted over to make it seem like it was, there were missing bolts, a part that was actually causing the problem was replaced (though we paid $2,000 for a transmission rebuild it was a roughly $400 part), and my exhaust had been cut off and welded in a semicircle causing an exhaust leak in the cab of my vehicle. The staff tried to underplay the damage that was done and refused to fix the exhaust. Needless to say, we will never return here for business.Service: Transmission

Diagnosed an unusual break in my van, transported the vehicle to a different garage for repair, no charge. Phenomenal service, pleasant staff. Strongly recommend!

While on my way back to Corpus for work, I had an emergency tow north of Victoria due to a transmission issue on my truck. I was able to get to to Smith's around 2pm, and they got the truck on a lift in the middle of a very busy day. Being from out of town, they even let me set up my computer in the back to do a little work and were extremely hospitable the entire time. Jamie, and the guys in the shop, went above and beyond to make sure I got back on the road and to Corpus the same day (they stayed late to do so). Not only was the service top notch, but it was also the most transparent and affordable experience at a shop I've ever had. I cannot say enough good about this place and the people who work here!! I HIGHLY recommend Smith's. Thank you guys for everything.Services: Transmission, General repairs & maintenance

Hi, so my fianc�e went to the mechanics shop to get the transmission fixed for her 2007 Ford Taurus. They completely ruined it: they said they fixed it once and we brought it back to the house and it ran worse than last time, they cut the exhaust to make room to take the transmission out (which is very unprofessional they should ve taken the time to do it right), lost a few bolts, and didn t seal the torque converter housing. so we brought it back again since it was under warranty. When we approached them about the issues we found, they yelled at us and made it worse in general. Now, it drops RPMs when you re idling and there s an oil leak. They have threaten to sue us for defamation of character and they were very unprofessional business. Never go to them. Ever.Service: Transmission

Worst customer service. Owner cussed out my husband in front of me and my child, unprovoked. Threatened to void our warranty. They were supposed to rebuild the transmission but did not. They damaged our car and refused to fix the damage. We gave them a chance to fix their mistake but will never use them again nor recommend them to anyone.Service: Transmission

I had my work cars transmission rebuilt a couple weeks ago. When it would try to shift to OD it was jerking badly after the rebuild. After a phone call and a ride along with Charlie he quickly diagnosed the problem as a bad spark plug wire. These people know cars, know how to fix them, and have a friendly down home attitude. I wouldn t hesitate taking a vehicle back to their shop and having them work on it. Very pleased with the job, the price, and the friendliness.

Spent over $2000 dollars on a transmission that did not even last 1k miles took it back to the shop for repairs. When the transmission was put back in the bolts were not tightened and flywheel had to be replace. Now transmission slips and shop does not want to pull it to do the work after I was told that I could bring it back. I would not recommend them for any work. C.

Welp it took 2 months for them to find the transmission I needed but they did find it and now my truck runs better than when I first bought it. I'm very pleased. I'm grateful for their work. Have patience with them and they will do an excellent job!

Used them 3x and always got the best prices. Even when one time it was just a sequence to get it out of a certain gear that took 30 seconds free of charge after being towed there. Can't find a more honest shop.

I am from Nova Scotia up in Canada and had a serious transmission breakdown near Victoria Texas this April 2016. My first drop off by the wrecker did not work out well. Not capable of solving the problem but the road side assistance"GOODSAMS" then towed me to Charley's shop and he was the most kind and professional man I have ever had the pleasure of being served by. All his staff were very professional,polite and worked hard to give my wife and I the best price and reliable service I could have ever hoped for. This crew worked immediately to not only fix the transmission problem but repaired the drive shafts to a new status to ensure it would not likely give us any more problems over our 3000 mile trip back home. His Mom even came to the car rental office to return me to his shop so we could get on our way immediately. THAT'S JUST GOOD OLD FASHIONED TEXAS HOSPITALITY YOU NORMALLY DONT FIND TODAY. Got a problem with your transmission.... Take it to a true professional take it to "CHARLIE AND HIS CREW"

Our truck had a transmission while we were traveling leak so I brought it in. After I picked it up it barely ran, the spark plug wires were lose, it wouldn t maintain highway speed. I had to have it towed home. This shop was unwilling to look at it to see if they may have moved some wires.They are also outrageously expensive

Broke the part i brought in to fix. Made me pay for the cost of fixing the part they broke. The part I took home was all in pieces, not useable. Charlie cussed me out for saying I wasn't satisfied. Unbelievable!!

They hooked up their computer reader for free and did the diagnostic for free and they were very fair on their pricing I had my car back within 24 hours

Took a dodge truck to them for misdiagnosed transmission issue with Firestone on Laurent. They found an alternative ignition issue and offered local service companies with specialties.
