I was told by another shop that I needed a whole new motor. Took it to DJ and he quickly diagnosed the issue and JP had it repaired in 3 days. I put another 12,150 miles on it since and still going strong. It might look messy out front but these guys are honest and very knowledgeable when it comes to diesel engines. Good people.

Wonderful shop and owner. They got my 6.7 fuel leak fixed up perfect. Owner is into Subarus like me too! Which is awesome. I left him some of my favorite vape juice as a tip and he was appreciative.Highly recommended!!!

If you have a diesel truck, large or pickup size these are the guys to see for repairs and upgrades. Another shop said I needed injectors but Self Made said "I won't sell you something you don't need" and diagnosed the problem and fixed it with a new tune. Saved me thousands. Great guys and honest. My go to mechanics for my Excursion.

Hands Down the Best Mechanic in Texas whether you got a gas or Diesel , our family been going to him for years for trucks, cars and Classics. Very respectful and knowledgeable of mechanics , his staff is very fast and efficient and they take responsibility for there work. Not only as a mechanic but as a tow company very responsive to calls and make sure they show up to the scene prepared no matter the time of day. I won't ask anyone else to work on our vehicles, if we call him for a simple mechanic question and he has the answer, even if he don't know it off the top of his head he'll give us a call back after a few minutes with an answer. He's been around cars his whole life and there very little he hasn't seen. Great Business wishing yall many more years of success.

I brought my Ford in because I was having electrical problems with my A/C. I was told and quoted a price I thought was more than fair and it should be ready in 4 to 5 days. Well 2 days later I get a call that it's ready, my A/C is Ice Cold and the price was less than quoted. Yep...Y'all just found a new customer for life!!!

I was charged for a tow and an hour of labor for diagnosis. My truck was never towed. I was told the issue with my vehicle was the computer, then it went to the high pressure oil pump, then it went to the injector pressure regulator, and finally the turbo. This was all after repeatedly having to call and ask for an update over several days with the promise of a call back which would not happen. Asked for a quote for fixing the problem. I was quoted $1268 for a turbo plus labor, tax, and supplies totaling $1729.62. I called their local supplier to check prices on the turbo. They said it was $720 plus tax. So I'm asked about the high price and was told I could bring my own part. I opted to just pick the truck up and cut my losses by paying the diagnosis fee, which now I'm seeing on my receipt that it included a tow. The owner told me I didn't understand how parts were priced. I informed him that I certainly did and that his mark up to total 175% of the suppliers price was not going to work. All he could say on response is " It is what it is." Customer beware!!!!!!

I had bought a Ford F-250, the motor went out 6 weeks later. These guys suggested cheating the system and doing a false insurance claim which was fine with me . Unfortunately it didn t go through.Took my 2012 chevy 3500 to get the fuel injection system replaced. $12,600 was the price. Due to spending almost $20,000 on my ford, I wasn t able to come up with that amount, so the months went by and today I called about it and they had listed abandoned and got it impounded and sold off. They said they had screenshots of them cashing me and texting me. When I asked for proof, he said he wasn t gonna send me any of the screenshots..these guys will do anything to make a dollar. All they had to do was call or text me, and I would ve gladly taken it off their property.They ll get what they deserve, I can assure you.

My 01 Chevy duramax stalled out and they sent a tow truck out to pick it up the driver even offered to give me a lift right around the corner to make sure I made it to where my ride was picking me up safely. Then upon pick up he was very explanatory of what issues he found and what he had done to fix them. I will definitely have DJ work on my truck in the future.

My truck quit on me with my 42 5th wheel on the back 10 minutes into my 9 hr trip. He had my truck back in a timely manner. Self Made was happy to answer any of my questions.As I got it back I hooked it up to a 50 gooseneck and it hauled as nothing was ever wrong. Self Made will always get my business.

I have a great relationship with SMD. I own municipal vehicles and take care of PM's reg.Unfortunately parts give up and problems appear. I use SMD because I want my vehicle diagnosed properly and fixed fast. SMD is where I receive fast dependable service. DJ is knowledgeable, very crafty, and is a straight shooter, which are THREE qualities that are hard to find together. I would recommend SMD to anyone in need of a good diesel mechanic.

The ABSOLUTE BEST diesel shop ever. If you go somewhere else, they ll probably mess up and you ll have to take it here anyway; so save yourself the hassle and just come here first.
