The best commercial mechanic shop I have found. We have been coming here for over 15 years. Very honest and fair. Unlike the franchise businesses, they will never upsell you with anything you do not need. When they suggest a service, it s because it is needed. I have had second opinions before which always confirmed what they had already told me. I trust these mechanics completely, and will continue to use them for any auto repair, whether minor or major. They care and fix it right! I have compared their quotes with other mechanic shops in Richardson and they have always been competitive in their pricing.

Since first coming to Star Auto, I've moved, and I continue to deal with the 45 minute drive to give them my business. They are timely with their services, forthright with their expected costs, honest and educative with their repairs, and accommodating with my schedule.But what prompted me to go so far as to provide a public review was when they quoted me a charge of 2/3 of the next cheapest quote for an air conditioning repair.Services: General repairs & maintenance, Vehicle Inspection, Auto A/C replacement, A/C installation & repair, Air conditioning

I had a strange rattle noise coming from my car and asked the Star auto mechanic if he could test drive my car before I agree for repairs to ensure the previous mechanic who test drove my car had diagnosed the noise correctly. Star auto said it is a $45 charge for them to drive it down the street so that they can listen for the noise. I have been going here with various cars from my household for a while, and this is the first time I was asked to pay this fee when in the past in similar circumstances, this has never happened. I made sure to clarify if this was a new change, and the mechanic insisted it was not. This was strange to me, and I am not sure if this is common practice, but I am posting this here for other customers' awareness.

I went there last year to get my car inspected for my annual tags. When I returned this year they had me in the system and after returning about an hour later ( the inspector was at lunch) I was in and out and pretty much 20 to 25 minutes. No bells and whistles but there is indoor and outdoor seating and of course where would we be without our cell phones to play with while we wait?! All I can say is that they're fast efficient and courteous. I have no experience with any other work other than inspections.

This company has helped maintain my two different cars for 6 years. Even would take me home while car repairs happened and returned me to the service center to pick up my car! Family values. Honest assessment. Good price. Quality service. Never a complaint re work done. Wonderful people. Quickly diagnosed and repaired my vehicle for a very reasonable price. Additionally, they aired my tires up without me asking them to do so. That may not be a big deal to some, but it meant a lot to me and demonstrated their concern for details. These guys are great. Very reasonable. Can do more than standard oil changes and inspections. 06.08.20 update: I continue to have incredible success with these guys. Super honest and reasonable. They have done things like change out the harmonic balancer on my old Toyota Highlander and keep her running like new. Way more skilled than the average shop or quick lube.

Exceptional facility. Family owned. Father and son, very experienced and skilled. Really honest and helpful and fair costs. Will explain and offer suggestions of what may be needed now and what can be delayed and for how long. Good work correctly accomplished, can't be rushed. They have taken great care of my car and it's 19 years old. I have been coming here for years. They offer Check Engine lite at -no charge-. Very fair and reasonable.

It's rare to find mechanics I can trust with my vehicle needs. I have found that the team at the star are approachable but really honest and don't try to up sell anything and simply recommend what they honestly believe is needed. They always let me know when I can put something off for later and let me know what needs to be done now. I fully trust them. I will continue to be a faithful customer to them.

Amazing. These guys quoted me a lower price than usual over the phone. So I came. Then when I got there they realized that it was not normal, but they honored what they said anyways and saved me a lot! Also they are really nice people and provide a great service. I highly recommend them.

I ve already left a review but just had a repair done today. We consistently come back to The Star. They ve always been quick to diagnose and fix the issue. I always feel I m getting a straightforward and honest answer. They re transparent about pricing and it feels like a great value. It means the world to know you can get anything fixed by a mechanic you trust.

Trust this place to tell me the truth about my vehicle. They are not cheap, but not too expensive, and they are reliable. They will tell you what they find and what you can wait to have done and what is more urgent. Only place I would trust to take my car. As a single woman I have been ripped off at other places. A friend of mine that used to work on cars recommended them.

Was able to make an appointment to get my state inspection done. The staff member I interacted with was extremely nice and even suggested a tax office to go to (which saved me a ton of time today). They did my state inspection quickly and they were very accommodating. Would definitely recommend this place to others and would use them again for future vehicle needs!

As a lady, it's the best peace of mind I ever found! Mechanics think that they can just walk all over women with crazy rates and outrageous claims. Miguel (Angel) was very straight forward, telling me exactly what I needed, and his rates were very reasonable. Saved me hundreds of $$ not only from the dealership rates, but from other mechanics who prey on women! I highly recommend this place for anyone needing decent rates and honest information from mechanics. What a breath of fresh air! Thank you Angel!

I was lucky enough to be referred to Star Auto by a co-worker about 6 years ago. I have been bringing my vehicles here ever since. It's rare to find such a blend of honesty, integrity and knowledge all under one roof.Great work at fair prices. They're here to help and advise you when you need them and always tell it like it is.

Great quick and friendly service. I got my inspection done here and it was quick and easy. Called for an appointment and then showed up early and they let me in early. It's not a big or fancy place but it doesn't need to be. The girl at the counter and the mechanic were both friendly. Great experience and will definitely use this place in the future.

Finding a mechanic that you can trust to do the work right and charge you for the work completed and not extras... is not an easy task. But....THIS is the shop for you! I have been going to The Star Auto for about 5 years and have walked away with complete satisfaction that my car was taken care of without breaking my wallet. I have always been advised of the car's problems and costs before work began. And when big ticket items needed repair, Steve would come up with alternate ways to fixing the problem for less. I totally trust these guys with my car!Their Customer service is just as awesome. They have a complimentary Drop off/ Pick up service for times that I had to leave my car and were very flexible to accommodate my late work schedule.When you find a great Hairdresser- you never leave her. It's no different when you find a great Mechanic- You never leave him!

went in to have an aftermarket catalytic converter installed in my subaru for cheap. the car sounded like a nascar racer after. Took it into meineke and they showed me that one of the gaskets was missing and the part was not correctly fitted to my engine. these mechanics are not AAA certified and should not be trusted. the 4.6 google rating is not reflective of the quality of service. maybe routine jobs they can do but anything beyond that don't bother.Service: Exhaust

Star Auto has an amazing staff and does honest work at a great price. We have taken several of our cars their and had not complaints. Will recommend to anyone that needs an honest mechanic. They also have a Honda specialist on staff which was huge for our family cars.

I've been taking my car here since May of 2017. This past summer they tried to upsell me an air filter by telling me that it was missing. I declined it because it was strange since they were the last ones to touch the air filter since they were the last ones to do the oil change. I stopped by Auto Zone and discovered that the air filter was indeed there, so either they didn't do their jobs properly or they were trying to make a few extra easy bucks off of me. Either way, terrible.We all make mistakes, so I then I brought my car in for another oil change. After that, my brakes started to makes noises. Strange again, makes me wonder what they did to get me back to spend money on brakes now. So I let them take care of the problem, but they did some other work instead because the car is STILL making the same noise plus another noise. I brought the car to them and the younger man refused to fully test ride the car and didn't want to hear the noise. Very unprofessional. I gave them a chance to fix their mistake and they didn't. They wanted to charge me an additional $300+ to fix what they should have fixed to start with. Best decision I made was to refuse giving my money away. Won't be bringing my car here ever again.

I have been taking my vehicles here for over 10 years. Miguel and his crew always do a great job. Very fair and very honest. What more are you looking for in a mechanic? I totally recommend them 100%

A lengthy comment is not necessary. At the Star Auto Service, they are fair, honest, trustworthy, highly professional and excellent at their craft. Besides all that, they are really nice guys! I have been a customer for many years and they have never disappointed me. I highly recommend them to all my friends.

Had replaced my AC condenser, took it to get recharged. They were the best priced in the area, recharged it, tested it for leaks, and they used dye in the freon. Was told if for some reason I had an issue, to bring it back so they can leak check for free. Good customer service.

I had them do two inspections on my car. They were very fast, pleasant to work with. Highly recommended. In fact, I am going to have them repair another issue with my car.

They have done all of the repairs for all of our fleet trucks since I've take over as Office Manager at Shower Doors of Dallas and they have done a great job. They are always honest and up front. We highly recommend them for repairs!

I have found my car's new mechanics. They fixed the mess that another mechanic made. I'm going to go back get the air conditioning worked on. And they're even going to do a little bit of body work for me. And all with a song in the voice and a smile on their face. See these guys trust these guys. I love these guys!!
