If you re looking to pass the state inspection with a very well maintained diesel vehicle, DO NOT go to Phil s Automotive. They checked my truck for items that are not required to be checked during the state inspection. I took my truck to a different shop later the same day and it passed.

These guys saved me a lot of trouble when they found my upper radiator hose was bulging during a routine state inspection. I was able to make it home to do the repair instead of being stranded on the side of the highway. Thanks y all!

I've only used them a couple of times for vehicle inspection. This time I helped a friend who waited until the last day of the month. Lisa was very busy but got to everybody, although they started sending people away when it was obvious there wouldn't be time to handle everyone. We waited a couple of hours. Each time I've been there they have been very busy with lots of vehicles. It seems they must be trusted by a lot of people for repairs.Update: Seems like trying to spend with local businesses can get you burned. Turns out they are always slow, busy or not, and don't really care. Seems like Holy week is helping me to see where NOT to do business in the future. Save yourself the aggravation and go on into SA. I wasted gas and time locally and will still have to go into town. This one is now a hard NO for me.

I've been to Phil's on numerous occasions. I've always been satisfied. From inspections to minor and major auto repair. Honest and dependable. I'd recommend them to anyone and everyone. They've put together an excellent and awesome team.

You can't go wrong by going to Phil's. Fair Texas Car Inspections and mechanics are awesome. Won't take my truck anyplace else. Always friendly, and they have the best reception committee that wags tails!

Let me start by saying that I usually have a good experience when I use Phil's. Today though was a different matter altogether.I took my truck in for an inspection as I've done many times before. This time I had a taillight with one of the bulbs out. I still had a fully functional taillight (tail, stop, and turn) since each side has two 3-way bulbs. They said that they would have to change the bulb to pass it, to which I asked if it had to be changed since the light still was functional with the one bulb, and I was going to take the truck into Ford for regular service soon.Well, the young woman that does the inspections blew a gasket at my question, told me she would just fail my inspection, and that I could take it "wherever"! That she "didn't have time to mess with me"! She got the older woman in the office involved, and she came out trying to throw me out saying that "they didn't have time to argue with me!" All because I asked a simple question. Once I explained the situation to the older woman... she got a little more reasonable. But the young girl doing the inspections had a MAJOR chip on her shoulder.Now Phil's is a family business and I think that this young woman is the daughter. Well, she needs to learn, and maybe they all need to remember that just because you are the only shop in the area that performs a service DOESN'T give you the right to treat people like sh**.Service: Vehicle Inspection

I haven't had any mechanical work done on my vehicles, just visited for State inspection. Cars were moving in and out from all the bays, my truck was inspected and I was on my way in 15 minutes. The shop is neat and employees friendly, it's obvious, this shop has made many people happy for a very long time. I'll be back when it's time for my vehicles to be serviced, and I'm sure I will add the 5th star!

Oh my these people were wonderful. My Dad passed away and I had to bring my Mom and their 40 foot diesel motor home to AZ to live with me. It was good Friday and they were open and very busy. We needed an inspection to get tags. We had some misc safety lights that had to be fixed and they were very fast and efficient. I am so grateful to them for getting us on the road. Thank you Phils Auto!!!

They will leave you outside in the cold. Never came to do the inspection left me out there for over 45 min. I just left. There not friendly!

The lady who does inspections is rude as heck. There are much nicer people up the road in Boerne who know what they are doing. I ve been here a few times and they didn t pass me because of xyz but went to Boerne and all was fine. It sounds very scammy.

I was greeted as soon as I got there and told how long the wait would be. The staff was very professional and completed the inspection promptly. The inspector was very helpful in getting my motorcycle out of the inspection bay. Great place!

My son s ten-year old Mazda was much neglected. Needed complete brake job, struts all around. All fluids flushed/changed. It was all a bunch of money but the people at Phil s were worth every penny. The Mazda drives like a new car. They are honest and very good mechanics. There estimate was quite accurate. I trust them completely.

Trying to get inspection but didn't pass, lady said I couldn't have smoked lenses but only the side marker and blinker are smoked not the actual headlight. But you can still clearly see them on during the daytime but she said she couldn't tell on her shop mirrors. The other reason was my 3rd break light was out but when I checked it when I got home it was working just fine. Never will I go there again. Nor recommend them to anyone

Phil's is my go to auto repair. They are a great bunch of guys, and quite good at what they do. They have always taken care of me, so I intend to return the favor with my business, and they treat you like a friend. I Highly recommend Phil's

Called ahead for state inspection. When I arrived, a lady yelled out to the shop to ask what idiot said ok for the inspection. I stood in the driveway for 20 mins and decided to ask a man if I could get the inspection done as the lady was ignoring me.I finally got it done, but doubt I will return for any reason. Would you?

Had our car inspected here. Quick in and out. About 30 minutes. They were very though. $7.00 pass or fail. Not bad.
