I don't usually leave reviews for places, but the guys at National Automotive have never let me down! I've taken my cars to them any time I have an issue that we can't handle at home. They're honest, have fair prices, and get the job done. I've never felt taken advantage of, and they take the time to explain things to me without making me feel like a dummy. 5 stars!

Allegedly changed several gaskets for me about a year ago as well as installing a new radiator. Radiator is already leaking. Several of the gaskets were not changed at all (and I was charged for them) and when I got my truck back, it had almost no oil in it at all, and they tried to convince me that it actually only needed 7 pounds of pressure with a couple quarts to work fine. Simply added oil and the pressure jumped back up to where it should've been. Made it a quarter mile down the road and the truck sprung all kinds of codes because the spark plug wires weren't even reconnected on 2 of the 8 plugs. Also had personal belongings go missing out of my vehicle. DO NOT RECOMMEND

As a college student it s hard to find a mechanic that doesn t make you feel overwhelmed or try to take advantage of you. These guys listened to everything I had to say and helped diagnose my car with urgent issues that I didn t realize were urgent. Thank you guys for being so patient with me and getting everything done efficiently. Will definitely be returning here!

This USED to be a good and reliable operation. It is not that anymore. Just excuse after excuse. Shoddy, incomplete work. Charged me $90 for "diagnostics" for one of their guys leaving a rubber cap off of an intake. And that's just one event. I'm done.Justin quoted us $800 for a particular job. Got the EXACT same job done for $520 elsewhere.I should have listened to my friends who told me National Automotive has gone downhill. I hope they turn it around.

These folks changed my valve cover gaskets on my 2005 Ford Explorer. When they reassembled the valve covers, they pinched some wires in the cover. My vehicle would not quit going into failsafe mode. I took it back once by wrecker and once barely got it to the shop before it died. I had never even heard of this mode before they worked on it. They spliced the wires back together instead of replacing them. Almost a year to the date the valve cover gaskets started leaking. They had stripped the bolt on the back right cover. The one they had pinched the wires in. In a week it leaked 3 1/3 quarts of oil and blew my engine. I no longer do business with them and recommend to everyone I know not to either.

I had a wonderful experience with Rick at National Automotive. He replaced my starter and had to redo some of the wiring. Upon diagnosing the problems, he was able to give me a fair quote and immediately start work. A few of the others that are doing TV ads boasting that they usually offer same day service..... Well they told me, a couple of places, but especially this one that regularly shows his TV commercial and also in his big yellow page phone book. When I called him and another Nac auto repair shop..... He says we're 4-5 weeks backlogged.... Next guy sounded friendlier but said it'd be about a week... Then one ol fella was just down right cocky about emphasizing he charged 110.00 hour for his work blah blah blah .... Like maybe he took for granted having a 2003 vehicle meant I was penniless. Do potential auto repair customers actually call around WITHOUT cash they know they got to spend.... That cash certainly doesn't compare to financing, taking a new monthly expense and adding comp/collision to my 97.00 insurance I've had 2 years with a spotless record...... Geez I can only imagine what added comp/collision to my existing liability and uninsured motorist. No thank y'all. Well I guess I am rambling as older age tends to bring out......... But KUDDOs to Rick and his gang at National Automotive.... I'll continue using them. I used to use them 25 years ago and they were on point. They still are. .........used them again today for air conditioning Problems and they fixed it in one day and charged a super fair price.....love national automotive. Friendly staff...they are on point. Highly recommend.

Worst service ever. Dropped my vehicle off while it was overheating and they didn't look at it then. Told me they couldn't get it to overheat. I told them they hadn't driven it long enough, they said they don't want to work on my car and to come pick it up. Trash mechanics, trash people.

Last year I took my Honda Minivan to National Automotive in Nacogdoches for a new alternator. They replaced it and the price was reasonable. Just over 1 year later the alternator needed to be replaced again. From my understanding an alternator should last about 7 years, not 1. Because it was over a year, they wouldn't warranty the labor (they did end up warranting the alternator). Also last year I took my Jeep Grand Cherokee in for issues with my rear Differential. They said I needed fluid and a new pinion seal. $200, great got it done. Less than 3,000 miles later and the Jeep is making weird noises and shaking. Take it back to them tell them it is making noises and shaking. They say rear differential needs new pinions. . Okay. $600 later. Pick up Jeep. No noise, still shaking. No explanation on the process they take to diagnose a car and return it without fixing the whole issue. Will not be back.1 star for the friendly customer service.Service: Battery

These people are unbelievable. You better hold on to your receipt and keep a record of exactly what date you had them do your work because they file their paperwork in chronological order which means that they can't find a record of work On your car under your name or the VIN of the car; only by the date the work was done. I've never seen such total incompetence.

When I was in grad school (2020-2022), I trusted National Automotive with my mechanical needs my entire time in Nacogdoches. Justin and his team always did great work on my Subaru. They told me the best time to bring in my car for the fastest turn around and were always timely with quality work. The cost was fair and I usually brought my own parts (pads, rotors, oil, oil filter, etc.) so I only paid for labor. Happy to support a local business doing great work.Great option for college students because it's adjacent to campus. I often left my vehicle at National and walked to my office and returned later in the day when they called to confirm my vehicle was ready.

I have been taking my vehicles to National Automotive since we moved back to Nac several years ago. Because they are good, they are busy. Call ahead and talk to Justin to schedule a time for a repair...in these almost post Covid times, I don't recommend just showing up. Call ahead!Professional services for good prices.I recommend them to anybody who is looking for a company who will take care their vehicles, not just change oil once every 3,000 miles.

My car broke down while passing through town on the way to the hospital for medical treatment the next day. They expedited the repair and were very understanding of my situation and helpful. They got me back on the road and I was able to make it for treatment.Very nice and did a great job. Highly recommend.

I had a major issue with my truck that needed immediate attention. After calling and dropping in to multiple places in town, I landed here toward the end of the day and Justin dropped everything to take a look. He over nighted the part and got me taken care of first thing next morning. Other places were booked for days to weeks (he obviously had a lot of business going on at the time, too). He got me going in less than 12 hours. I will bring my vehicles to him from now on! He and the rest of his staff were very helpful, polite, and professional.Service: Steering & suspension repair

I've heard nothing but bad things about this place and unfortunately I didn't listen to them. These actual clowns don't know how to proper repair a Tonka truck let alone a real vehicle. They installed a bearing backwards which broke a apart and caused a lot of damage within my rear diff. They have a special ski to fix your car just long enough to drive it off thier lot so they can blame the car braking down on you, in hopes you'll return to thier garbage shop and waste more money on these clowns.Service: Brake service & repair

So grateful for Justin who went out of his way to help my daughter with her 2000 Monte Carlo, even though it was right before closing time. He has been trustworthy and helpful from the beginning, has worked on my daughter's car several times, and always does a superb job. Thank you, National Automotive!

The guys at national auto are amazing and very helpful. It's the only place and my boyfriend will take our vehicles. They are trustworthy and won't try to talk you into anything unnecessary. One of my favorite things is when I get my oil change done they will check out any concerns about anything on my car free of charge.

I was recommended here by Cook Tire (So, I'm not sure if they are reliable either), reviews seemed pretty good, but It was not that good.I dropped my car off the night before so it would be worked on "First thing in the morning" per the employee .I worked my full shift and heard nothing. I had to call them. The man said he was "About to call".He said they didn't really find anything except low fluid in the rear differential. But to take it apart, it would be a few hundred just to look. He said to replace the back end would be a few thousand .He didn't mention the low tire pressure, or fix it, or the tire sensor light. But now EVERY SINGLE TIME I drive my car, the maintenance light comes on. I don't know what they did to it. They probaby got behind and rushed. They claim the mechanic drove it for a few miles, but couldn't find the break issue I reported. But everyone who drives my car hears it and feels it.I don't trust them anymore. They seemed nice and professional, but I think my car is worse for it.

The guys at National Automotive were very helpful. My Volkswagen GTI had clutch failure and they were the only ones in the area that offered to work on a German car. Very honest people, good work, and reasonably priced.Service: Transmission repairService: Transmission repair

Very pleasant, helpful, and well educated staff that are willing to go the extra mile to help you out whether it s a simple oil change, or as complex as a full engine replacement! In my opinion, national automotive is the best auto shop in town. I 100% recommend this auto shop to anyone new to the Nacogdoches area. Honest, caring staff are top notch. They are always there when I need their skills. Very very helpful!!!

I love this shop. I always used them with my old car and will definitely go back again with my new one. They are friendly and keep the costs low! They are fast too! They got me in and out in half a day. I got a pretty big problem fixed for not even 100 dollars. For as long as I'm in Nac I will use these guys!

Almost a week ago, I had a light come up on my car and I brought my car to National since I have had a great experience with them in the past! The first thing I noticed was that my car took a long time to get even rolled in to be looked at, which I can understand if they were busy. I was told that a part needed to be ordered and that it would probably come in the next day, a long with the part being installed. A couple days go by and the car has still not been worked on, which I can also understand and not why I m typing this today (it helps to understand my story alittle more). Finally after a week, I get the ok to pick up my car. We go to pick up my car and instantly I notice something is wrong, I have a huge hole in my passenger seat. The hole looked obviously chewed by a mouse/ rat, as there were also rat droppingA all over my car and a torn up receipt on the ground of my passenger side. Never have I ever had a problem with an animal in my car before.I don t live out in wooded areas either. We had asked whoever was check us out for the car about it and said they weren t sure and would re-upholster the car. After leaving, I called back up there to see what could be done for my car since I had a hole, droppings, and potentially still a critter in my car and without any hesitation the man said he couldn t do anything about my car and it wasn t his fault and as the conversation continued he said I don t know maybe I left a window open or something and as I explained to him that I have never had a problem with a critter in my car before and the car had sat at their shop for a week, he went on to say don t you let your car sit when you go to bed at night? . The whole conversation was rude and uncalled for, as I was trying to be understanding and work through the situation. I try to be understandable in the fact that things happen like this, but that doesn t excuse good customer service and the fact that I m currently trying to get a mouse out my car so it doesn t pop out while I m driving. It s gross and unsafe for me to even get in my car right now. It is safe to say I will not be returning there.

These guys did a great job. Everyone was very professional, and they had my engine problem diagnosed and fixed in a day for a very, very reasonable price. Would definitely use again!

Dude straight ripped me off saying he replaced a thermostat and didn't. Not to mention his rude response when I asked him about it. Wouldn't have been bad if he would have shown me evidence of actually changing the part, but when my private mechanic sends me pictures of the area in question not even touched, makes you question it.

Highly recommend this shop! I only went in for an inspection and got phenomenal service. Justin and his team made me feel like a valued customer. They were very profesional when they were explaining my repairs to me. If you have car problems and you are in the Nacogdoches area, this is the place to go! No brainer!

PLEASE DO NOT COME HERE! I'm a student at SFA, so money is pretty tight for me. My boyfriend and I went here to get an estimate on his broken radiator. The guy said it would be $450 for labor and parts. They also said it would take them 4 HOURS to fix it, when it only takes about an hour. We found a new radiator for $106, so they were charging us about $340 for labor. Just because we're young doesn't mean we don't know anything about cars. We finally got it fixed for $196 less. It's a totally different story when someone is trying to scam you out of your money.
