Good:1. Service was good very attentive2. Chicken Fajita Supreme Nachos are deliciousBad:1. Food tasted good but had to have the steak recookedMy friend and I dropped in after work for some dinner. We heard the rolls are good, so we gave them a shot and it surprised us by how good they are. They came out warm and soft. I ordered the 7oz steak with double fries and my friend ordered Chicken Fajita Supreme Nachos. It didn't take long to get the food, the Supreme Nachos came out delicious we enjoyed them. The steak came out over cooked I asked the waitress to recook it and that wasn't a problem. When she came back to check on us she brought my fries back so I gave them a shot they were cold and warm in different spots on the fries. I figured it was because they dumped them from my plate and brought my fries that were sitting there back and they had naturally cooled down. The waitress told me that the cook said the steak was med rare in the middle but when I cut into the steak it was well done. The new steak had a strong blood taste to it, but I enjoyed it and if I had used steak sauce it would have tasted better. The service was great very attentive I have come here multiple times since I live in the area and the service is always good the food is pretty good a majority of the time as well.

This place is a hidden treasure!! Well worth the drive from anywhere for the amazing chicken fried steak, catfish, and handmade onion rings. Great value with generous portions. Very attentive, friendly staff. Dining area is so fun with lots of local history historical memorabilia and beautiful plants. Lovely view, too!Vegetarian options: Varied veggies for an all-veggie plate

The food is just ok. Wait staff not friendly or attentive. There is no WOW factor on their food. Mac n cheese is made from a box. Mashed potatoes from a box. Chicken was under cooked.Waitress was polite but not friendly. She held our rolls on basket for about 5min while talking to other people before bringing to our table. Chicken fried steak undercooked. Hamburger nothing special about it. Salad small and not that great. The rolls are only thing good from here.I was hoping for more because the views of location from restaurant are outstanding!

I've come here as a kid and decided to take my wife up to it as we were passing thru headed towards Fort worth. Still a great place as I remember it as a kid!! Sad to see the historical items at the hills base falling apart so badly. But they are running a fund raiser in the restaurant to get it all repaired and restored! Definitely great food and a very friendly atmosphere!!

My family went here on a Saturday afternoon. Went in and saw the 'Seat Yourself' sign, and easily found a spot to seat all 7 of us. The waitress was quick to greet us, took our drink orders, and brought out the drinks and rolls promptly. Once food was ordered it came out quickly, was hot, and tasted fantastic. If you're ever traveling on I-20 in Texas between Ft Worth and Abilene, this is a great little diner to stop at.

We arrived just after they opened on Dec. 21st. Driving DFW to Abilene it is the perfect place to stop.We both had chicken fried steak and it was as good as any we have had elsewhere. The food actually tasted home made. Really enjoyed it and the portions were big.Our waitress was 5 stars too. Friendly and efficient. My coffee cup was never empty. All I can say is skip the Smokestack and eat on the hill.

Glad to finally check this one off my list! I ve always heard good things and I m happy to support those opinions. Stopped in for Father s Day lunch and was very impressed with the Southwest-Style Chopped Sirloin. The sauted bell pepper, onion, and tomatoes were chopped a little small for my liking but tasted fantastic. Mashed potatoes and brown gravy were a home run and the scratch-made onion rings are worth every penny of that $1 up-charge. I recommend dipping in the jalapeo ranch.Dad s BBQ plate looked a little sad though he insisted it was lovely. I didn t see a smoker on site so that was a pass for me.Mom raves about the spinach/strawberry salad and the wife s chicken-fried chicken was pretty solid.Of the three bigguns in that area, NY Hill gets my nod. Better than Smokestack and Mary s Cafe.Vegetarian options: Enjoy the complimentary rolls!Parking: Please reserve the front parking spots for those less capable. Lots of ol coots dine here.Kid-friendliness: I don t much care for children but if you have em they ll feed em.

Driven by this place so many times on the highway and finally decided to stop. Best decision we ve made in a long time! Chicken fried steak was FANTASTIC. Large portions, friendly staff and interesting town history on the front of the menu. Really happy with the experience, 10/10 would recommend.

I was doing some driving back into Fort Worth when I ran across this place online. I got an order of chicken gizzard, okra, and fries. Man was it good! And on a side note, the lady at the register was sweet as pie!

Really enjoyed it. The pork chops were very tender and huge. The batter on the Texas toothpicks was really good. Best restaurant green beans I think I've ever had. The rolls were amazing. The pepper sauce was so good, I bought a bottle to take home. We ate too much to have dessert. We'll have to try some pie next time.

Generous portion sizes and tasty food. I saw other reviews highly recommended the chicken fried steak, and glad I got it because it did not disappoint. Some places only give you a little gravy, but not New York Hill Restaurant. Smothered with creamy, flavorful gravy. Worth stopping in for. Also got a slice of pie. It was good, but too sweet for my liking.

Decent meal for a decent price. The single, homemade crouton on top of the salad was delicious, but since it was an entire slice of baguette, made it difficult to eat as an actual part of the salad. The dinner rolls were very good, as well. The food came out very quickly and piping hot. The fries were pretty good, the gravy standard cream gravy, but the steak fingers tasted heavily of unseasoned flour, and the sliced canned peaches had an off taste. Meal and beverage totalled about $15.

I drive past here frequently and always want to eat there. I finally did, and it was worth it! It is a relaxed atmosphere with delicious home-cooked meals. The restaurant also came with town history. The wait staff were timely, kind, and helpful. The rolls were incredibly satisfying, and the steak fingers and baked potato were tasty. I will be returning.

This was my first visit, I've passed by many a time in my way to Mingus but never stopped so I decided to check it out. I had no idea what to expect really but OMG was it worth the risk!! Our server was sweet and attentive, The cooks in the back absolutely blessed me with THE most incredible 12oz Sirloin I've ever had, and the garlic mashed potatoes, green beans and lemon bread pudding were to die for. Don't even get me started on the rolls!!! Next time you drive by, STOP. You won't regret it!

The food was fantastic with huge portions. The service was great and they were very attentive. I love the views from the hill top and the history provided to learn more about the area. A must try place for some good homecooking.
