I would give them 10-Stars if I could! I took my 2016 GMC Acadia Denali AWD to The Transmission Shop in McKinney after a bad experience at another shop. The service writer, Blue, said they would do a full diagnosis for free, and it would take 2-days. They did exactly that. Checked motor mounts and everything and called me the morning of the 2nd day. In my case it was the torque converter. We agreed on a full transmission rebuild at very fair price using all OEM parts. 4-days later I had my car back. Blue honored the $100 online coupon and included a 12-month/12,000 mile warranty. I asked if I could upgrade the warranty and got a 36-month/36,000 mile added on for $375. I've already driven the car about 500 miles and it runs better than it did new. No leaks, no problems. Thank you Blue and your Crew.

The repair took longer than I originally expected, so that was a bummer, but my transmission is working well now. A side effect you could say is the my D4 light no longer works in my dash since the repair, and I know its not the bulb that's burnt out. I'm assuming its a wiring issue that happened when they had to put in a new sensor that isn't easily available anymore. They put in one that uses two bolts to install while my Haynes repair manual says to only use the rivet in style.

Referred to The Transmission Shop by my local service shop and I can see why. These guys are very helpful and diagnosed my car without charging me, which is almost unheard of. They then found the problem not to be transmission related and recommended my next steps, which kept my overall cost down instead of taking back to a mechanic. Problem solved. Thank you to Blue and Andrew.

Easy to work with. Consistent in their pricing. Able to work with them to handle atypical requests (specifically regarding a manual clutch conversion) that could not be handled by other shops that don't specialize in transmissions (e.g., dealership, general mechanics shops). Finished when they said they would and the car is shifting better than ever.Service: Transmission

I HIGHLY recommend The Transmission Shop in McKinney! They provided honest and timely service for a fair price. My 2011 Cadillac was due for the 2nd 70k miles service and I had experienced a lagging once or twice when I hit the gas hard so was worried there might be a bigger issue. The Body Shop got me in quickly and told me that they should check it first because if you service with another problem, it could make it worse. They ran a diagnostic, which came back clean, so they serviced my transmission and did it all for $70 less than another local shop I called (which had also told me that I needed to service my transmission every 20k miles NOT true!).Service: Transmission

The Transmission Shop was great about diagnosing my manual transmission problem of needing a new clutch. They communicated with me, gave me an accurate timeline with a reasonable price and didn t try to overcharge me or perform unnecessary services on my Jeep. This review is long overdue. I had my transmission replaced at the McKinney location. The dealership quoted me double of what I paid for the repair. It has been approximately eight months since the work was done and have not had an issue. I recommend this shop for all of your transmission needs. In my case however, it was about three weeks before I got my vehicle back, so make other arrangements if possible.I would definitely use this shop again and I would recommend them to my friends and family. An awesome and honest shop! Mazda dealership told me parts for my transmission were backordered for 3 months. They had my car working as good as new within 3 weeks. I called the shop regularly to check on status of parts on order and the status of the re-build and my calls and questions were always welcomed and the answers explained perfectly so I could understand. This is an excellent shop with great ratings from the Better Business Bureau. My Rav4 had a check engine light for weeks with codes corresponding to transmission solenoid problems. I replaced two solenoids, a transmission filter and replaced the fluid twice , but the check engine light did not go away. Brought it to The Transmission Shop, they figured damaged parts inside the transmission. Andrew, who is a real great guy, told me he could get the replacement parts, rebuild the transmission and I could get the car back in 5 business days. He also quoted me the cost of the repair. You know what, I got the car back in 5 days as he promised. The price quoted was the amount I paid for the repair. The check engine light was gone and the car is running very good with a 36 months/36,000 miles warranty, whichever comes first.Service: Transmission

I can add oil, check the tires air pressure and fill a car with gas, but that is it. Andrew took the time to explain to me how and why they were making the recommendations for the transmission. A body shop I trust recommended them and for a good reason. Knock on wood, my Suburban is running great, and it came with a 3-year, 30,000 miles warranty.Service: Transmission

I had a great experience with the Transmission Shop. My truck, driven by my sons, required a transmission rebuild. I was given an accurate quote and good information in response to my questions. I was pleased to learn that I received a 3 year warranty (versus 2). It's been about 4-6 months and the truck has been driving/shifting great. If I had anything negative to say, the owner had committed to respond to me one day on the estimated timing to complete the work, but he didn't. All in all, I'm delighted with the outcome and value for the service provided. Thank you Transmission Shop!

TL,DR; The staff at the Transmission Shop were courteous and professional, and my doddering old truck is running great now.My 16 year-old truck was making a clunking sound when shifting cold from first to second, and I was intermittently getting a check engine light. The first time I took it to the Transmission Shop, the code was not present and they could not reproduce the issue, so they encouraged me to come back when the trouble and code had returned. While that was a little frustrating, they charged me nothing instead of inventing an issue and charging me plenty.A few weeks later, I took it back, and the time they were able to diagnose the issue and offered to rebuild the transmission to correct it. This wasn't cheap, though I wouldn't expect a transmission rebuild to be cheap. A week later, I took it back because I had a different transmission-related problem, so they took it in and realized that one of the parts from the rebuild kit had been bad. They apologized, replaced the defective component for free, and got it back to me the next day. It has been some months now and the truck shifts very smoothly. I would go back to the Transmission Shop with confidence if I were to need transmission work again.Service: Transmission

Had a good experience at The Transmission Shop in McKinney. I brought my 2010 Mustang GT in for a transmission rebuild, new clutch installation, and differential flush. You may need to plan to be without your car for some time, these guys are busy (YMMV). I was without my car for 2 weeks - I didn't expect that. All else was fine.Andrew was professional and communicative at all times and I didn't get the impression I was being sold things I didn't need. I got the sense of honesty from Andrew, and in my opinion that's critical. I definitely recommend this shop.Service: Transmission

Great experience! Chris and his team were a pleasure to work with. They rebuilt the transmission on my Mazda 5 on time and in line with his quoted estimate. Chris called when he said he would call to keep me updated on progress. The three year warranty is also better than the couple of other places I checked. I highly recommend these guys.

Andrew and his team rebuilt the trans in my son s GMC Sierra previously. The trans started shifting hard so I took it back. Beware! The Transmission Shop in McKinney may do good work, but don t expect cooperation when there is an issue with their work. The Manager (Andrew) wanted me to leave my vehicle for a week to explore the issue I had with their work. When I took it elsewhere, the mechanic discovered that one of the spark plugs was not tightened. Andrew could not have cared less.

Andrew was great to work with concerning my truck. The rear end had to be rebuilt. They took it apart and told me exactly what was wrong and I told them what I wanted in it. He then found the parts that I requested and rebuilt the rear end. The price was in line with other shops I talked to. It took longer than I expected, but they did a great job.

Andrew and the team at the Transmission Shop were great. They found the problem with my transmission and repaired it within the estimate and on time.There was a slight problem and they came to my house to pick up my car, fixed the problem and finished the work the same day, all with courtesy and concern for my situation.The best part is that the transmission shifts better than when the car was new!I highly recommend The Transmission Shop.

If you're looking for an HONEST & KNOWLEDGEABLE Transmission shop, then THIS is the place to go. Told me what the problem was. It wasn't my Transmission, but my motor mount causing a hard shift from low gear to 2nd gear. Very prompt, courteous & professional group of guys. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this shop.

I just left the shop and was very impressed with the service I received. Andrew the manager took the time to look at my vehicle as well as provide clear, easy to understand diagnosis of what the issue could be. Anyone in the North Texas area that has transmission concerns should stop by and have these guys take a look. Wouldn't go anywhere else!

Honest and competent - Had an engine light and 2 other warning lights come on. For $189, Nissan said had 2 accelerator pedal and 2 transmission diagnostic codes, and estimated $5,300 for repairs including transmission rebuild. Took to The Transmission Shop, and after a real diagnosis said it was likely an electrical problem that caused the sensor on the accelerator pedal to fail. No guarantees, but he suggested I take it to AES Plano for a diagnosis. He refused to charge me for the advice. Suffice it to say, AES repaired the car for $4,000 less than the Nissan estimate. Still owe the car a transmission maintenance which will get a The Transmission Shop.Services: Transmission, Vehicle Inspection
