Just had an awesome experience with Joe and the team. They walked me through each part of my build, and gave me tons of recommendations and truly cared about the success of the project. Would recommend especially for their knowledge on the Miata Platform (2.5 swap w/turbo). Thanks again Joe!Services: Auto engine tuning, Engine repair, Auto exhaust system replacementServices: Auto engine tuning, Engine repair, Auto exhaust system replacement

Contacted Joe about a 2.5 swap for my NC. We agreed on a price, and he handled everything from there including arranging shipping down to Texas from AZ! Joe was communicative and friendly throughout the process, and even came into the shop on a Saturday morning so I could pick up my car after flying in. I then proceeded to drive the car 1,000 miles home without a single hiccup. This was well worth the trip for the level of work and experience that is evident!

Complete professional. Scheduled my install, drove the 1,200 miles from my area to Dynotronics. The next day (Monday) Joe began removing my 2.0L and installing the 2.5L, new radiator, coolant reservoir, exhaust header, mid-pipe, clutch and flywheel in my MX5. By Tuesday's lunch, it was done and tuned, and more importantly, done correctly. Joe even fixed a couple things he didn't have to and didn't charge me for, like an power steering leak, and a new o-rings for my a/c lines. I drove it around town on Tuesday afternoon and brought it back at Joe's request, to go over it one last time before driving home. I drove the 1,200 miles home without issue.Dynotronics even has 1 yr same as cash financing!Free T-shirt was the icing on the cake.Schedule yours with confidence. Joe is the 2.5L MX5 whisperer!

If i could give Joe and his team 10 stars I would.I bought what i thought was my dream MX5 with a turbo kit already on it and sadly like most other project cars their were tons of issues (improper installation from previous installer and missing needed environmental parts to even operate in my region). All of which this hard worker wrote tunes to help remedy before i paid him a single DIME. All in which just to help...The final result was getting the car to his shop to diagnose (that's how we found out the above). What most people seem to have a hard time understanding is if Joe wasn't the original installer their is NO WAY to properly diagnose whats really wrong and how to fix it. Their are SO many things that CAN go wrong and parts that be used...End result is the turbo had to be removed sadly but he used most of the parts he already had from removing from other MX5's plus labor. If this isnt the type of gesture of an honest man I dont know what is. Thank GOD he was able to get it operational or I couldnt even get it to pass inspection and transfer into my name.I will continue to find ways to do business with Joe and Dynotronics on any car/truck he works on. This is type of business that deserves all our support. Thanks again Joe!

Wouldn t let this shop touch my car again with a 30 foot pole. When you discuss issues with Joe he gets very defensive and condescending as you can see by his replies.Might as well forget about the issues this shop causes and fix yourself. Litany of parts missing and things wrong with the car when I got it back after almost a year, and it s leaking oil! I could write a novel but I ll leave it at this. Paid way too much money for sloppy work and the warranty means nothing to me when I wouldn t trust this shop again.I was referred to Joe s shop by someone who had a great experience but mine was the complete opposite.Do not come here as I did.

Joe arranged for the inexpensive shipping of a NC from Missouri to his shop. He swapped in a 2.5L since the previous owner had burned up the 2.0. The work was completed in a couple of weeks and I picked up the car last Saturday. Very happy with the output and it is running like a top.

Doing business with this guy is at your own peril! I wouldn't! He speaks with a FORKED TONGUE! When he tells you what a nice guy he is and "Trust Me", don't believe it! He has nothing that you can't get somewhere else! If I could give this guy negative stars, I WOULD! You can tell a lot about Joe by reading his responses to negative reviews! Imagine what's going to happen when YOU have a negative experience. Do you think you'll get good customer service? YOU WON'T! What about any warrantee? HE'LL BLAME IT ALL ON YOU!

Bad attitude, poor communication, unprofessional. I trusted Joe to handle my 2.5l swap in my MX-5, I sent my car in to get swapped with one he had sourced. He had my car for little over 4 weeks, and never returned calls or updated me on the work. I only got an updated when I was asked for more money to get another engine ( Joe and his team destroyed an engine he sourced, and where holding me financially responsible) I never had the car in my possession he blew it up during his test. Lied about warranty not very knowledgeable, and not very trusty worthy. Cut my losses, didn t purchase another engine and had my broken down car shipped back to me. Going to find a professional to finish the work. Such a nightmare

Somethings from my experience with Joe and his company. First I sent a message asking about a 2.5 swap on my 06 GT Mx5. He responded back in minutes. I'm in the Collin County area North of Dallas. He tells me he can have someone come out the very next day and it was like 275.00 to ship my car to him in Marion TX. I was kind of skeptical at first. But he sent me an invoice and sure enough it was for that price. About a week went by and I called him. He told me the motor was being worked on and my OEM header was shot. "I told him to look in the trunk and that there was a GWR header in there." Unfortunately he called me back and said that a bit broke off into it as he was trying to fix a seized bolt. And it would take 2 weeks. I then broke down and said yes to a 1.8 header. I inquired about being able to pass inspection. He told me it should be okay cause I should be allowed one failure code.On my way home from Marion. I drove it all the way home cruising about 80mph. It was so nice. However once I got to McKinney I notice I was getting a little bit of a stutter. After further inspection. I pulled the coils to check plugs. Um they were all loose. So I tighten them up just snug like. Not too much cause I no better. I call Joe up and he apologize that for me. Well he tells me that he replaced the number 2 plug connector as it was faulty. But number 4 maybe bad as well. Took car to get inspected. 3 codes. No Cat, No O2 sensor, No EGR?I ordered 4 pigtail connecters from Ballenger Motorsports. Replaced number 4. still having issues. Sputter and lots of booming. to describe what I hear. I can move the wire harness and it seems to settle down and work good for about a trip to work or home. Then next days same thing. I'm not blaming Joe for this issue as it is definitely the wire harness on the 06. I hope replacing 1 and 3 will solve my issues. Joe was straight forward dealing with me and I see no reason to blame him for old parts. Only time will tell if the EGR stops coding as I hear there is a drive cycle I have to do to make it go away.Still waiting on the return of my 1.6 GWR catted header. May ultimately go back to that if I can get to pass inspection.

Joe and the guys at Dynotronics know their stuff and will boost your car to safe levels, while transforming the power for the WAY better.I did the turbo kit in my 2021 Mazda Miata, and between the tune, the exhaust sound, and its new power, the car is about 5 times as cool now.Very smart guys and Joe is fun to work with. They follow up with you and make sure everything goes smoothly. 5 Stars.

I want to compliment Joe on his fantastic customer service. I called a couple of weeks previously and scheduled to bring my vehicle in on July 3rd. I think when I made the request, neither of us realized it was an observed holiday for most folks. Either way, when I showed up Friday morning Joe still accommodated me and had my work done in a day and at a price that was more than fair, I actually feel like I didn't pay enough. Definitely 5 stars for delivering on a promised service even on a holiday.Edit: An update, I got much more work done on my car here this year, installing a variety of performance modifications. Joe helped arrange shipping to pick up and drop off my vehicle, the total service time was only about 2 weeks (fantastic for how extensive the service was), and was communicative the whole time. I called a few times over those two weeks to see how things were going, and maybe that makes me a needy customer, but he always took my call and let me know where things were at. I'd absolutely use him again, no question.

This review is a long overdue as I had the 2.5 swap done in November, but I wanted to share my experience for those considering having work done by Dynotronics. I found out about Joe after researching options to replace my engine in my 2006 miata due to a surprise rod knock. I called him about a week before to ask a little more about the swap and his schedule and right of the bat he seemed really honest. Just from speaking with him I could tell joe isn't in the business of milking your wallet, he has a passion for miatas and he's one of the best at it too. I trailered the car to him the following week and he showed me around his impressive shop which I agree with another reviewer is meticulously kept almost up to aircraft maintenance standards.I picked up the car about a week later and Joe had replaced my broken schrader valves and recharged my A/C for free! Summer of 2021 I had tried diagnosing the A/C problem myself to no avail and I thought I would take it to someone with more experience. I wasted several hundred dollars at a no-good A/C shop that claimed it was a failing compressor and joe found the cause and fixed it FOR FREE!!! That is the kind of service and honesty you are getting at Dynotronics! Oh, and the car, its a different animal now. You get a massive boost in mid-range torque which makes a BIG difference in normal driving. If you are considering doing a 2.5 swap or having any other work done on a miata, this is the shop. Incredible service and results. Thanks again Joe!

I couldn't be more happy with the 2.5 swap done. My NC got the infamous rod knock and I was getting insane quotes for high mileage salvage 2.0 engines up here in Arkansas. I gave these guys a ring got a quote and ended up driving my car down on a trailer I was so giddy to get it done.I dropped my car off on Tuesday and they had the swap literally finished by the next day. I drove it back about 1,000 miles up through the Ozarks and it just ate up the roads. If I ever need any real work done on my car I know where I'll be going.Joe and William were so helpful and professional as well. They really ran through everything with me thoroughly and made sure everything was 100% before I took off. They even sorted out some small stuff on the side for no extra charge like a bad o-ring on my steering pump and recharged the A/C.

Worst experience I ever had. I purchased an AVO turbo kit for my 2017 Miata. Joe tried for 7 months to tune it remotely. Ever time I asked what was the problem he would tell me we were almost there or just ignore the question. I even shipped the car to his shop in Texas, when I got it back (supposedly tuned) it dyno at 170 hp. That's 70 hp less than advertised. I had dozens of emails unanswered. When I finally talked to him, he had no clue how to fix it. On top of that, while tuning it with a different tuner I checked the spark plugs and he had changed the Brisks plugs I had for some cheap NGK that were even the right plugs for my set up.I would not recommend dynotronics to my worst enemy. Stay a far away from this shop as you can.

Bought a turbo kit second hand for myMX5 Miata and called to ask for some details on the injectors that were provided. He told me that was proprietary information and would not share with me to help get this thing tuned. Very dismissive and unprofessional. Now I need to buy new injectors to move forward. Not really a great first impression on this place.

If I could go negative on the stars I would. This place is not somewhere you want to do business. Yes Dynotronics helped me out in a bind and I paid them for it and then would not give me back my $375 DEPOSIT when they received the part back. Which I did verify they received the part (Glad I paid through PayPal and they were able to get me my money back). Then I paid for a tune that they would not and have not finished (which I went to a much better tuner and got my baby tuned). So they kept that money. I also bought an intake manifold from them which cracked. They told me to bring my car in and it would be about a month to fix. I live in Houston a 168 mile drive one-way. So we took a day to go drop off my car. Not only did it not get done but they had my car for 2 months told me to come and pick up my car and the new manifold and have my Miata guy fix it. When I did that they were messaging all the time "did you send the manifold back?" So not only did I waste 2 months without my car but it could have easily been shipped to me and shipped the cracked manifold back for under $50. Which I would have been more than happy to pay for instead or 2 round trips 2 months apart. Then the new manifold I received when I pick up my car had to be taken to the machine shop and fixed before we ever put it on the car or we would have ended up with another cracked manifold. They also turned off part of my emissions on the partial tune they did do which lead it to no passing inspection. Worst place ever to get your car worked on. Do yourself, your wallet and of course your car a favor and do not go here.

Here's the official review of my 93 octane tune from Joe over at Dynotronics on my 2016 NA Mazda CX-5. To be honest, I really have been enjoying it . I have put a few hundred miles on the car with the tune, and have had zero issues. Car has been running perfectly fine, and buttery smooth. Now I know the gains look minimal, especially in the lower RPM range, and I had even initially stated that you had to really get on it to feel any improvement.... But I'm going to have to back off that statement a little bit. I don't know if it just took some driving time or what, but you can absolutely feel a difference in the lower RPM range. The car actually has a little pull to it now. Before it was almost like I was towing something, like the car just was bogging down in the lower RPMS. That feeling is gone, and is much more of a confident drive now. I had also been using sport mode and shifting manually quite a bit because the transmission felt very clunky and unpredictable when fully automatic. The car just drove better when manually shifting. But since the tune, I find that the normal driving mode and automatic shifts feels much better than before. The car shifts up and down when it should, and that genuinely makes me happy and the drive more relaxing. After all I bought an automatic car for a reason . I had run 93 octane in the past, and truely felt the high compression engine ran better on it. The car idles quieter, and smoother, but there was no performance gains. Well this tune took care of that. I think this is a great tune for a daily driver, and considering it's a fraction of the cost of competitors, it's a great value also.

Joe and William knocked it out of the park. Dropped car off at 6.30 on Friday morning for a 2.5 swap. Picked car up at 6 the same evening. Car is running great and is a blast to drive.

Not a good experience from Joe. Poor and slow communication, missed deadlines, and car came back with bad ECU and broken AC. Have unfortunately spent even more money fixing what was done here. Look elsewhere.

Probably the best MX5 Guru in the United states. Took my car to them to make a few more HP, and came back with a 400hp monster! If you want Mazda performance, these are the guys to see!

Great Place, only place I will allow to work on my Miata. Helpful, Fair, Honest. They worked on car after several other places had made a mess out of it. Now it has been done right. Thank-you

Was doing email tunes threw him. Spent months getting no where. Constantly trying to get a hold of him to figure out when ill get my next tune. He says 1 to 2 business days. But really means 1 to 2 weeks. Ive tried countless times to be patient but at this point im cutting my losses. Worst customer service I've ever had. Have to fight tooth and nail to get what you already paid for.

After a fake review posted under my name I ended up joining the conversation.I did end up ordering a few parts from Dynotronics in Sep 2021 because I was planning on doing a 2.5 engine swap in my Miata. I tried evening out the orders for the swap across different companies offering parts for the swap to support all of them, especially in light of what COVID has brought over the recent years. My order did not come in for at least a month. I did not receive any communication as to why the order is not shipping so I ended up having 1-2 phone calls. After a quick discussion, some items turned out to be out of stock. I was told the website does not provide up-to-date stock information, i.e. other parts were out of stock than I believed to be based on website info. After about 6 weeks and a few phone calls, I did receive a couple of items, including a "factory quality" harmonic balancer (see screenshot attached). After installing the pulley, it turned out that its 5th tooth does not to line up with the position sensor, which it is required to do so, according to Mazda's engine timing workshop manual. So I ended up asking for some community advice and turns out this balancer is known to de-laminate and can cause decent damage to the engine. The part is made by SKP and its country of origin (COO) is China (CN) as indicated on its box (see pic attached). The same part is available from Amazon for almost 1/3 of the cost as advertised by Dynotronics (see pics).I ended up re-using my OEM pulley. This meant re-timing the engine and buying new parts for about $50 as several engine timing components are one-time use. I also uploaded the OEM part number for the harmonic balancer in case someone is interested in purchasing an OEM part instead. So I ended up asking Dynotronics for letting me send their harmonic balancer back (see communication attached) and I asked for a refund. They kindly let me go with this option. The item shipped back on 7th Jan and arrived to Dynotronics on 11th Jan (2022). I was told on 14th Jan that the refund has been issued and the money should be with me soon. After 3 weeks, I called again since the money did not arrive back - I was told to wait 30 days as that is the official quoted processing time for a refund. After 30 days I called again as the money was still not back on my account. The phone conversation did not go too pleasant this time but finally I did get my refund on the same day, which is much appreciated.Overall, I cannot comment on the quality of their workshop but to me it seems that communication certainly has some hiccups and lead times are problematic. It feels like doing sales is not their primary objective and it feels cumbersome for them to communicate with the customers. My only question then is why pushing sales if it is not a pleasant experience for either of the parties?I hope you find this review informative and useful.
