Travel nurse. My alternator died. Great customer service Tony! And management Steven. Got me up and running the same day I was able to make my scheduled shift on time. Best service ever!

Would 100% recommend this place! My son and I were stuck on the side of the road with a blown trailer tire. We called a few places and they wouldn t help. As soon as I called McWhorter they were more than happy to help and so friendly! We were 4 hours from home and with me being a woman with her young son was very scared to be stuck at night on the side of the road. The guys that came to save us were so nice and made us feel safe!! This is one of the times I wish I could give more than 5 stars!!! Thank you thank you thank you!!!!

I've been going to McWhorter's for over 15 years. I keep coming back because they treat me with respect, always are upfront and transparent and do a fantastic job. Grateful for the staff and all they do to make the experience of car repairs or tire purchases as great as possible. Truly unparalleled service.

Fantastic 5 star service! Friendly, courteous, professional. Had a tire issue while traveling called ahead from an hour away since there were absolutely no tire places between me and Lubbock. They didn t have the size I needed, but immediately located a couple choices for me, offering to obtain it so I could drop by to get it changed. Even though they seemed busy w people s vehicles, they had the new tire when I finally got there and were obliged to change it out immediately since it wasn t on my vehicle, and because they had a decent sized parking lot I was able to take my spare off and put the new one on and get back on the road, all within 30 minutes of my arrival! Thank you guys!

I purchased a set of 6 Michelin tires for my one-ton dually pickup. I spent an extra $300 at McWhorter's downtown Lubbock shop because I wanted to support a local business over a national chain. After a year, I came back from a trip pulling my fifth wheel to New Mexico, and one of the inside rear tires had a total sidewall failure. McWhorter's replaced it with a Goodyear tire on a Wednesday, since they could not get the same Michelin tire. They inspected the remaining 5 tires and announced them all in great shape. Two days later, on Friday evening, I was in Tarrant County on another trip with my RV, and the other inside rear tire had the same total sidewall failure. It was after 6 pm, and I limped into a national chain tire shop the next morning. I of course did not trust the remaining 4 tires McWhorter's said were in "great shape" 2 days before, and had another set of 6 Bridgestone's put on the truck. Those were all I could find to get back on the road and make it home. I took a picture of the 2nd failed Michelin, and sent it to McWhorter's the following week when the store opened. It was the identical failure that the previous tire had 2 days prior that they inspected in their shop. In short, McWhorter's will not honor their warranty for this 2nd failure, and I am out another $2100 for a new set. I have left a voice mail on the General Manager's cell phone but have not received a call back. I do not recommend McWhorter's as they will not stand by their products. A warranty that must be claimed at their shop is not a warranty at all if you ever travel outside of Lubbock. UPDATE: General Manager did call back, admitted the cause of the failure was metal valve stems his shop put on the tires. I had asked if there was a solution to a longer stem, they suggested the metal stems. But left the rubber stem on the tire. The combination of the metal stem on the short rubber stem caused the damage. That is totally 100% McWhorter's fault. And they still won't pay for the replacement tires.

Excellent service. Took a set of wheels and tires over to them after another shop in town failed to balance them properly. McWhorter not only fixed the issue, the brought me out in the shop to show and explain what had gone wrong. They're honest and have good prices. I'll be a life-long customer.

I went on the morning of May 20th at about 9 am for a slow leak in a tire. I was told they could get to it butbit would be an hour and a half wait. Nice employees for sure yet I wasn't told what the problem was after I paid. The next morning I still had a leak so I took it to the location on 50th and after an hour and half wait I was told it "may" have been the valve stem that was leaking so they replaced it and I was charged again even after showing them my receipt from the previous day. Silly me for thinking it was fixed the first time and even dumber me for expecting them to stand behind their work and not charging me. Oh well, hard lesson learned.

This place is the best!! Better than the big tire shops cause they take care of their customers especially college students who parents are five hours away! They took excellent care of my son and told us what really needed to be done after we got horrible horrible horrible service at discount. They are super nice and from now on we are only going here for anything. Thank y all!!!

Good place to get the maintenance done. I haven't been to other places but I am happy with this so didn't check with others. Got inspection done for 7$ without waiting. For alignment they charged 65$, that day I was in queue but was offered a ride to my office. Nice to get a ride, when your vehicle is dropped for service right. Looking forward to have other services like engine oil change etc.,

I called Mcwhorters ( frankford) to get prices on mounting some aftermarket tires. They gave me a price. I then decided to take into the mcwhorters closer to me ( texas) and they refused to mount them since I did not buy from them.You lost a customer for Iife mcwhorters.One store says one thing the other says another is bad business and definitely not a company I would trust with tires.

2/19/19I called yesterday to the downtown location, they thought they might be able to do a front end alignment and an oil change by end of day. Discount Tire did hang on to my truck about an hour longer than I thought they would. By the time I got to the downtown location, another vehicle showed up so that pushed me back. I was told ..If I got my truck there by 7:30am that my truck should be ready by lunch.This morning I was still told I should have my truck back by lunch. 2014 Ford F-150. Front end alignment and oil change. I called just before 2:30, I figured the truck was ready they just forgot to call me. NOT THE CASE. When I called at 2:30 I was told they needed about another 30 min. It s just after 4 pm and I m Just now getting my truck back. I was told the alignment would be $65 and oil change $31.99. I think it was Mike that told me my total was $156. I m figuring in my head how $65 plus $31 can equal $156. While Mike is ringing me up, he discovers they forgot to add the price of the oil change . NOT THE CASE Again, they didn t DO the oil change.I told him that yesterday And this morning I was quoted $65. He tells me that s the price if they don t have to get a cam kit. My bill was double what I was quoted and I was never called and asked if it was ok to continue. My bill was DOUBLE what I was quoted AND they forgot to do the oil change. He asked if I wanted to bring it back tomorrow for an oil change ;-)He did not off $20 like I was supposed to be grateful for that. I ve been there before for an Inspection. This was my first time using them for any type of service. Unfortunate.

Very professional so far so good I'll know if their work is good tomorrow.Well tomorrow has come and gone. Job well done and in a timely manner if there are any other problems I will surely give them my business again without a second thought

Honesty and integrity!! Those are the words that come to mind when dealing with McWhorter Tire & Auto. My Tech student's vehicle needed work done and McWhorter's was recommended to us. I knew what needed to be done to the vehicle since we had it diagnosed when she was home, but time didn t allow us to get it done over Christmas break. I called and spoke with Mike, and just talking with him on the phone, he immediately made me feel like I d chosen the right place. He was beyond nice, very informative and helpful! When my daughter dropped off her truck, they were able to quickly give her a ride back to campus. The estimate was in line with what our usual mechanic back at home would have charged for the job and the final bill was just as expected. Before doing the work, Mike even called to ask some additional questions regarding the symptoms just to be sure the job really needed to be done. He commented that they just didn t want to charge us to do a job that may not be necessary which really impressed me. When the truck was ready, my daughter was going to have a friend drop her off. When that friend s class ran late and my daughter had errands that HAD to be taken care of, we once again called Mike and, thankfully, he was able to send someone to her dorm to pick her up and take her back to the shop. This is customer service at it s finest and that is something that you just don t always find anymore. I can t say enough nice things about our experience with McWhorter Tire & Auto Downtown; if we ever need work done on any vehicle while in Lubbock, McWhorter s will be doing that work. I wish I could give them 10 stars, they deserve every one of them! Thank you so very much!!!

these people are so nice. There was so much wrong with my car and then did it all the same day and gave me such a fair price. Also they noticed that my friends back tire was low when she dropped me off and offered to air it up for her while we were waiting. Would highly recommend.

I have done business with McWhorter's for YEARS! I have nothing but good things to say about them. They stand behind their work, they are honest, they will quote prices BEFORE doing the work, they complete service in a timely and reasonable time frame, and they will recommend services with a true opinion of how necessary the repair is at the time. Recently I referred them for my sister because she had been duped by another company and was leery of returning there to be price gauged. The service was completed by McWhorther's in a timely manner and the cost was VERY reasonable. I've gone to them for years and have no plans on changing at this time.

I have been doing business with McWhorters downtown as long as I can remember. I've worked across the street from them for the last 29 years and they are always so helpful. Last week, I had a flat and didn't know it; since they had repaired this tire, I called them on a Monday morning because we couldn't get one of the lug nuts off ourselves. They didn't question that it was this exact tire, when looking my car up in their system, however it was, it just wasn't noted since my tire was in the trunk when I took it to them the previous time for a repair. Needless to say, Randy was so pleasant on the phone, had a guy come out to my house within 30 minutes of my call. The gentleman not only took off my tire finally, but took it to have it repaired and returned to put it back on my car, all at no cost. Then I went into the store the next day and they had a new lug nut waiting for me, even before I asked since the one stuck on there was damaged. Heck, they even offered me a free burrito that they had for the employees. Great bunch of guys there and I appreciate them so much.Diana Gurule-CopadoLubbock, TX

I'm here and enjoying my stay while they fix my tires. Tom is always helpful and making sure to be an honest salesman. Free coffee and the waiting room is pleasant. I always recommend McWhorter's to friends and family.

This place is amazing! I had a flat tire and it was 20 minutes from their closing time. They took me in right away and stayed open late just to fix my tire. It took them 20 minutes and they were done! They didn't even charge me a thing! These guys have excellent service.

I have done business with Tom at the Mcwhorters down town for many years. They offer great service, competitive prices and Tom and the gang are super. My dad did business with Mcwhorters, my kids do too. You can't go wrong putting your trust in these fine folks

Great service by great people. I came here when I needed my car fixed quick, but the dealer couldn't squeeze me in for same day service. McWhorter's did and had me back on the road in less than an hour.

McWhorter's downtown is a wonderful place with friendly staff. I stopped in a few months ago when I noticed my tire was flat. They fixed it for me at no charge. I have gone in for a few other minor things, since it is so close to my office, if I need to leave my car with them I can walk to work. I have never had a bad experience with McWhorter's and will continue to do so because of their awesome customer service. Thanks, McWhorter's!

I just have to give a huge "Thank You" for this business. My 91 year old dad set out the other day to go play bridge. When he went out to get in his car, he noticed his tire was flat. He called McWhorters to come fix it for him. He thought his day was ruined. However, he got a ride to his bridge game and left his garage door open for the technicians. They came to his retirement apartment complex and fixed his flat. When he got back to his apartment, he went to check on his car. The tire was fixed and everything met his specifications. He became a bit frustrated because he couldn't find a bill. He called them back and asked for a bill so he could pay them for their service and he was told the service was complementary. He was so thankful and his family is grateful. Thanks McWhorters. You have my business from now on.

The Frankford location provided terrible service. This facility literally charged me double the cost for a standard wheel alignment and the results were terrible, my car how drives semi straight while the steering wheel constantly tilts to the right ~5-10 degrees and I was told only AFTER the work was completed that it included no warranty. As insult to injury I personally overheard the mechanic who worked on my vehicle tell the employee working the register "it's bad, really bad" as he passed him the keys to my car not knowing I was the owner. I would never take my vehicle to this facility again and would strongly suggest that you seek another facility if you are presently considering this one.
