What a great find! I drive past here every day, and I was feeling "eh" about our previous mechanic. I called to see if we could bring our car (2010 Honda Fit) in for a 90k service, and was able to arrange for a time quickly. Potter was clear, helpful, and communicative throughout, and the pricing was very reasonable. This will be our new go-to auto shop in Kyle!

The MOST honest and reliable mechanic I ve found. I used to live in CA near my brother s shop, but we moved here in 2020 and had several rough experiences before we found Potter Automotive. He s helped us with our 2008 Highlander (project car) and most recently our 2009 Mazda3. We were previously quoted over $700 elsewhere for a burned through headlight (not a burnt out bulb) on the Mazda and at Potter s, he was able to do it for a much more reasonable price and twice the customer service. He took time to update me, explain things in a way that was easy to understand, and genuinely inspired trust and knowledge in everything that was happening. 100% recommend; won t be going anywhere else.

The best and by far most honest auto repair shop I have used. I have used Firestone, Goodyear, Lambs, and Christian Brothers and none compare to the outstanding work done on multiple Vehicles I own.

I used Potter Automotive in December of 2021 and wanted to wait and put my vehicle to use before posting anything about the service I received. It was very difficult not to write a review right away with the amazing care Adam (Potter) took from the get go. I have had ample opportunity to use the car and have not had any issues with any of the work that was done. The brakes work wonderfully, and the car itself is running very well considering its age and mileage. Adam is not pushy, observant, assistive, matter of fact and to the point. They checked my vehicle for additional maintenance repairs and didn't give me any information I didn't need. At no point did I feel like they were trying to tack on anything that wasn't something my vehicle didn't need. I am very happy and satisfied with my overall experience, and would recommend them to anyone in a heartbeat for fast, efficient, affordable, honest work.Services: Transmission, General repairs & maintenance, Brakes, Oil change

The best automotive service and repair shop in the area! Adam is extremely patient, professional, knowledgeable about his craft, and does excellent repair work and general maintenance.His reviews are what brought me to his shop and I haven t been disappointed. He works on all of our family vehicles. His pricing is fair, and if you are a veteran he offers a military discount.In addition to his high quality repair work, he is very honest and doesn t try to sell you on unnecessary maintenance work. I highly recommend his shop. You may need to schedule an appointment, but it will be worth the wait!

This was my first visit to Potter Automotive based on my neighbor's enthusiastic recommendation and I couldn't have been more pleased with Adam and the business. Had extensive maintenance done on my truck that's getting on in years now. I found Adam's communication on things that needed to be done totally honest and with no pressure to accept anything advised. He clearly explained what needed to be done now and those things that could wait a few thousand miles more, such as a brake change. I found his prices to be excellent and he was exceptionally trustworthy. I'd highly recommend Potter Automotive if you needed some repairs or maintenance on your vehicle.Services: General repairs & maintenance, Oil change

I ve been bringing vehicles to Adam for years now. He s always extremely nice and straightforward. He keeps you in the loop on what s going on with the repairs and always does a phenomenal job. The repair options presented are always very honest and the price is not inflated. I ve brought him:99 Ram 1500 for AC Service with the evaporator being replaced, transmission leak, and some other things.13 Jeep Wrangler for 100k maintenance, thermostat, and oil pressure sensor.03 Impreza wrx for ac refrigerant drain98 Impreza for ac service

Potter Automotive was the best! We had a brake inspection at another place who said not only where the rotors and brake pads bad, but the calipers too. They quoted us over 1k for the whole job! Thankfully we found Potter Automotive. He was straightforward and checked the car over himself, and quoted us much lower for the job than the other place. He also discovered that the calipers were just fine, but found an issue that we didn't know about, but had been causing multiple problems for a long time, that no one else had been able to find. Our car is back to running as smooth as the day we got it, and for several hundred dollars cheaper than the other place. 10/10 would recommend and return.

Needed someone to diagnose my A/C issue on my 2014 chevy silverado. Potter was able to diagnose the issue that day, and told me the A/C compressor was completely shot. He wanted to make sure his work would completely solve the issue, so he also wanted to replace the condessor and lines as well. He seemed honest about his work and replaced the compressor and condensor and recharged the system. Ended up costing me a bit less than I thought and he warrantied his work. AC is blowing colder than ever, just in time for the hot months. Thanks Potter

I had multiple issues with my car that needed to be addressed and I was recommended to Potter Automotive by a coworker. I was impressed by his honesty, the quality of his work, and timeliness. He s a one man shop so I assumed the work would take longer than it did. Additionally, his prices are fair and reasonable compared to what you ll find at big name auto shops! I ve been driving my car a week now since his repairs and it s driving great! Would definitely go back!

Seriously, the stereotype of a mechanic hustling you is very true .. but not here!! Potter speaks to you like he s your uncle! Genuine, honest, direct and with a joke here and there haha. Best experience I have EVER had with a mechanic. Hands down, the best place to get your car needs addressed! He even works with a very nice towing company called Pete s Towing! And come on, who s ever, EVER heard of a nice towing company ha! Very affordable. 10/10 would recommend!

When people talk about having that reliable local mechanic , Potter fits the bill to a tee. I used Potter a few times before moving out of state, and coming back years later this is still where I want to take my vehicle. Super friendly, personable service with fair costs, plus tips from the mechanic on how to best maintain your vehicle. Adam is extremely good at his job too, as he pin-pointed some problems with my car that plenty of other mechanics either never found or never cared to tell me (head gaskets and steering column in this case).5 stars all the way.Services: Steering & suspension repair, General repairs & maintenance, Wheel alignment, Oil change

Went for a AC re charge. Ended up being a hose leak. When I came to pick up Potter showed me the broken part. Honest pricing and I didn't feel like he was throwing BS at me like other places I have been to.

Hi everyone. I brought two vehicles in for a small fix and a bigger project in December.Adam was able to explain to me what was going on in each scenario, told me what all of my options were, and gave me heads up on what to look for in the near future. He looked at my engine on my ford escape and said that the rear passenger tire looked like it had been patched (it was, not by him) and had a slow leak.Adam is honest and reasonable, he truly loves his work. I trust his judgement, and will bring my vehicles to his garage for sure.

I really don't know much about cars, so when a few things went wrong on my Nissan, I took it to the dealership. They wanted to charge me ~$2000 for 3 repairs. I called Potter Automotive around noon on a Tuesday, dropped my car off a couple of hours later and had my car back around noon the next day at half the price of what the dealership wanted, I even got a student discount! Adam was super nice and explained to me what was going on with my car and made sure I was informed each step of the way. He also just put a cap back onto a valve and told me I didn't need to replace that, even though the dealership wanted to charge me $200 to do something unnecessary. I am beyond pleased with my first auto repair experience. Adam was so transparent and nice about everything and I'm really glad I chose to come here to fix my car. I will be coming back here anytime I need something fixed and I will be recommending Potter Automotive to anyone/everyone.

I was trying to find good, honest, straight forward mechanic as I moved to Kyle, Texas from Alaska. I went to the car dealership and was quoted $2,100 plus for a coolant leak repair job. Potter had it for two days, put the right parts, and installed the fluid. They pressure tested everything and double checked other coolant leak vulnerabilities (i.e. turbo chargers) in my vehicle. It cost $360.00!!!! That was lower than their quote and well below what Ford quoted. I have a new shop I will use for any repairs I cannot do myself. It's Potter Automotive. Adam is the man! I can't say enough about this shop.Service: General repairs & maintenance

The difference between going to Adam at Potter Automotive and other mechanics is that where some give you an estimate only on best case scenario, he tells it like it is. Today he said $40 - a couple hundred. The repair might be expensive because of the wheel design and require breaking parts and replacing them.It turned out he could rethread the stud. He checked all the wheels and found another and move my donut to the rear wheel for safety.He works very efficiently and fluidly and always has something interesting to say.I also.got the lowest price. This was my second service from him and I give him a top rating for quality and honesty.

I met Adam a couple years ago trying to find a reliable mechanic before he started his own shop. I have been taking my '02 F150 to him ever since. You will not find a more honest, knowledgeable, and cost-effective shop.For example, I live in San Antonio, car started to act up, took it to a highly rated shop nearby. Diagnosis was going to be $125 to $175. Decided to hold off until I was in the Kyle area. Adam looked at it, within minutes he was able to diagnosis it (bad coil) and happened to have a spare used (but good) coil. I was in and out in less than an hour (including diagnosis and replacement of the part) and paid much less than what the other shop was going to charge for diagnosis.There are so many more good experiences I have had with Adam. Me and my brother agree: you cannot go wrong with Adam's services.

Just took my truck there to get the AC system evacuated before removing an AC component. Owner was honest and let me know that it had been empty to begin with. He could have easily still charged me for hooking up his machine, but didn t! Now to find the leak.

They evaluated my car, let me know what the issue was, gave me an estimate, and more importantly, a truthful assessment of what to expect. While my car may no longer be worth the repairs, it s good to know a place can be honest with their customers. I ll come back here for their expert advice.

Adam is a great guy and an excellent mechanic. He's fast and efficient and will help you out when he can. I've found his pricing to be a smidge higher than some of the big name shops but nothing worth losing sleep over. I will 100% be taking my automotive business to Potter Automotive from now on. Y'all should too.

Look no further when considering a mechanic. Not only is Adam a diamond in the rough, he is a maestro conducting a symphony of mechanical prowess! I had an issue w my drive shaft . Soon as I brought it in he went right to work! Extremely knowledgeable & transparent when it comes to issues w vehicles. Never once did I feel apprehensive when he was diagnosing. To my delight he's a straight shooter! Rare find these days. I cannot recommend Potter automotive enough!! Quit wasting time, he will be protector mechanic for the life of my vehicle.PS. Adam is honest, fair, and very personable. He is also very good at what he does.We have been taking our vehicles to him for about 2 years now and have had great experiences with him each time.I am always looking for opportunities to support local business and Adam makes that choice an easy one.

Had the heater core replaced on my car this week, of course I called around to find the best price after the problem was diagnosed. I was trying to scrounge the money up, it is a difficult job and my budget is limited, so I need the best price and someone qualified to do it. Potter Automotive checked both of those boxes for me! He was literally half the price of his local competition and I could tell by the way he diagnosed my problem that he knew what he was talking about. In less than 24 hours my keys were back in my hands, the problem was fixed and there was literally no evidence that my entire dashboard had been removed! I have a new mechanic and he has an awesome beard.

I've used Adam twice now in the last month. Both times he did a great job and very competitive prices. First time was much overdue basic maintenance - belts, hoses etc. He did find another problem while there. I hate when going into a garage and it always seems like they try to add on something. Adam showed me the damaged part and explained why it failed so very knowledgeable with my 07 vehicle. He's going to be my go to guy. I'm due for oil change on another vehicle and will be stopping by later today. Guess that will make 3 visits now.

Adam takes good care of his customers. He is up front about what is up with your car and what the best method is for fixing it. He's great at explaining complex parts of the car to non-car-savvy people like myself. Really quality service.

Great mechanic. Super knowledgeable and by far the most HONEST mechanic I have ever encountered. I recently had my timing belt, water pump, spark plugs & more replaced here. All work done with perfection & at a fraction of what it would have cost me elsewhere. I highly recommend and will definitely be using Potter Automotive in the future.
