Took my truck to get worked on. Then drove 2 hours to San Antonio and the part failed. I took it to a mechanic in San Antonio who said they used the wrong part and installed it wrong. They left the original part just hanging there. Charged me $400 to do the job incorrectly. Don't use

Horrible service!! I took my car here 3 months ago and they were supposed to replace all breaks and drums. Well this week, I noticed that there was a grinding noise coming from the tires. I decided to go ahead and check them. They looked like this. I called to talk to the manager and he told me this happens every 3-4 months. Also I was told it depends on how fast you drive and use the breaks. Considering I use a company truck for travel my car sits alot not being used. The manager was very rude and flat out told me he doesn't believe me. I then asked if this was how he treats all of his customers he said yes.

So my wife took our car in due to our battery was losing power fast and would have to charge battery. Tested alternator and it tested fine but when driving i could watch battery drain and then it seemed like alternator would work and charge up battery. This was not always the case though. Had a battery monitor on car and car would drive normal until battery was drained down. Disconnected all extra electronics like dashcam. Wife took car in and they could not find an issue said alternator was fine just like when i tested it. Then ran codes and said a vacuum switch needed to be replaced. This did not show up when i ran codes but we paid to replace it. Then 2 days later i went to work and had same issue again so i took it back. Not really sure i needed the part that was replace a few days prior i did not get a code on it but they said they did. First day (Aug 16th) they said John was off and would have to come back the next day. Came back (Aug 17 0800) and they said alternator was bad. I asked about the last repair they said there was damage to the wires like a mouse chewed throw them. They quoted me the price to fix and started work. I was there for 8.5 hours and i get it as they were busy, but when i got home opened hook to see and they had sprayed antifreeze all over the car i assumed opened it when it was hot. Then found a couple screws around engine that were just laying there. Today i was off so wanted to go through it all and see where screw came from noticed one of the plastic covers in fender-well was missing that coverers oil filter and bottom side of the engine. I really wanted to like this place as my wife has taken car there a couple times over 6 years. It is about 20 miles away from us but not sure i will end up going back. I understand being busy and know to swap alternator they had to take AC hoses off but 8.5 hours seemed really excessive. The part i have more of an issue with is finding screws not put back and then missing the plastic cover for oil filter. The large splash shield i pulled off but the side one they removed to get to the compressor was still in place before i had the work. I would expect a shop would have all parts they took off a car in one area and make sure they all go back on. Would have given them 1 star but i know they were busy and trying to help others also. I am thinking working on my car then moving it out to work on others the parts they pulled off were misplaced.

Great pricing for a basic oil change. Staff is polite. I will keep using them for sure. Have been going to them for awhile now and I have been referring others. Just got a state insp today on my old car. They were fast! Have not been in awhile since my newer car came with free oil changes at the dealer. I will return though! Just not putting many miles on the old car currently (320,000 miles now).

Waited at the front office to get a vehicle inspection. Like an idiot, I waited for about 10 minutes. Not ONE person came up front!Won t be doing that again - besides that the place is a dump! Negative 5 stars!!!

Do not bring your vehicle here. It's called discount care because every other visit is free after they break something while doing a rush job to fix what you brought it there for in the first place.

Took my car here for spark plug replacement based on the great reviews I ve seen. The workers were nice and friendly, fast work. I brought my own parts and paid $45 cash for the single ignition coil and spark replacement.That SAME NIGHT my battery light came on but my car was still driving. I took it to auto zone and a mechanic shop for battery testing and was told that my alternator was draining my battery. I had to spend an additional $800 on new alternator, battery and to fix my car that this shop completely messed up because I was not having these issues prior to bringing my car here. So please beware

Came to this place on recommendation. Unfortunately I can NOT recommend it. I actually feel ripped off. My wife went in yesterday to have an engine oil leak removed from the car. She explained to them well where the leak was since I had investigated where it was and they ended up changing another piece that had nothing to do with the oil leak and charging a higher figure. The next day I arrived with the invoice and the photos that I was still blending oil and they wanted to change the transmission. When I asked them to fix the engine leak, they returned the car to me without doing anything to it. Totally a scam. I don't sue them because they don't deserve the time. But I don't recommend it. If you are looking for honest and professional mechanics in your work do not go to that place.

This place is very affordable for things like an oil change and other minor services. I don t recommend getting anything serious or important done here as in the past I have had issues with the same problem occurring shortly after a repair was made. Overall, primarily decent for maintenance.

i went to this place several times, until they played some tricks. my engine oil is leaking and they called me to give a quote for repair. on the phone, they said the oil change is included. however, after i picked up the car and found that the oil is not changed. when i asked, the guy simply said it is not on the paper, so they will not do it, acting like street rascal!Services: Auto engine diagnostic, Oil change

This is the only place I ll take my car. They re so kind and honest. They do excellent work and such a good job. They ve taken care of my friends and family too. They are good honest people and that s so hard to find these days. Especially, when it comes to working on cars. You can t beat their prices either. I started going there when I thought my starter was out. Johnny called me and said to be honest it s just your battery, but it would have been your starter and battery if you would have kept turning the key just a few more times. I picked my car up, great price, new battery, no more issues. If it was anywhere else they would have probably charged me for both. I truly appreciate their honesty and amazing service. Thank you so much!

I desperately needed an oil change and I came to this location for the first time ever because they had the best prices compared to any other place. I came in during a time when they were super busy & literally all the garages were taken. I was sure they either wouldn t help me or I would be waiting there for hours...As soon as I walked in through the door I felt very welcomed and was greeted with great customer service. The very kind man at the counter helped me immediately and despite how busy they were & the fact that two oil changes were ahead of me, they worked very fast and I was in and out within 45 minutes! (The lobby wasn't bad to wait in either because they had charging stations for your phone, everything was clean and tidy and they had free coffee!)The mechanic who did my car was also very kind and did excellent work! I saved so much money coming here (over $170 I would have spent anywhere else) and I received excellent customer service as well as it being fast and efficient. I will be coming here for all my oil changes now and tire rotations! I would recommend this place to all my friends.

We ve come to this place at a recommendation, but recently their care on our car as put us at a huge detriment.First issue I noticed was an oil change on my husbands car. Not long after, we got a check engine light. I took the car to a different auto shop, someone my family had gone to, and found out they had not put enough oil in my husbands car, which triggered the check engine light.Next, and this one is a whopper, tire rotation.My husbands car recently had a flat tire, and needed to get new tires. Any tire shop and auto shop we went to couldn t take the tire off because the lug nuts couldn t come off. The bolt had been stripped.Discount car care was the last people to look at our car, back when they changed the oil they also rotated the tires. Because of this issue, we had to take our car to the dealership and it s costing us nearly $3,000If I had the money to pay a lawyer, I would hire one. But it s not worth the time or money at this point, and my savings account is evidently about to take a hit.Because of all of this, I can t in good conscience recommend anybody to bring their car here. To save myself more money and worries, I will never be taking my car here again.Services: Tires, Wheel alignment, Oil change

AVOID THE INSPECTORI've loved these guys but I've heavily considered taking my business else where after having to deal with the lax attitude of the state inspector. I brought my car in for a simple oil change that took 2 hours because the inspector told me to sit down and forgot I was there despite.my efforts to get his attention. It's not hard to spot him as he always seems in a daydream. That being said, TAKE YOUR STATE INSPECTIONS SOMEWHERE ELSE.Otherwise, these guys are great!! Friendly, fast and cheap. Sad such great service has to be so tainted.

I've gotten my car worked on and oil changed here 6 times or so. They are fast and the prices are reasonable. Today they fixed a connection in my vents when it was not blowing air and did not charge me because it was a quick fix. The guys here are amazing. There is a reason why they have so many great reviews. The shop waiting room is clean with options to hook up your phone or laptop with power if you need it.I took my car in for an inspection and to address a problem. I took my car to 4 other places where they tried to take advantage of my lack of car mechanics knowledge. The guys at Discount fixed my problem and didn't over inflate the issue. To sum it up, great trustworthy place for car maintenance and issues.

There are no better mechanics in all.of Houston than these cats. Not only are the extremely helpful, but they are honest and open about every detail of your repair. This place also has a valid reputation for being the least expensive, but don't let that deter you (it's not a tattoo). I've taken multiple vehicles here for a range of things from oil change to break replacement to exhaust repair and they have taken excellent care of me every time. Ive also sent many friends their way and all have been very pleased with the result.

These guys were great - if you haven't tried them you should. They took me without an appointment, looked at my car quickly, told me exactly what I needed and made the repair promptly as promised. I was pleasantly surprised with the level of service and their professionalism. I will definitely go back!

Took my car here on a Sunday with what I assumed was my starter going out. They tested it and determined it was just the battery. They didn't have the battery in stock but said if I went to auto zone and got one they'd replace it for free. I was expecting to pay a diagnostic fee, but It was free.Even while I was waiting another customer and I were talking and he was saying how great they were here. Fair, honest, and great service. I'll definitely come back.

When your vehicle is broken down, it's one of the worst headaches you can have, but luckily Jonathan and crew make it easy and affordable to get back on the road at Discount Car Care. The most important thing is that they won't BS you. They are honest about your car's issue, which I can't say about any other mechanic that I've been to.

They have always been good guys. I have known a few of the employees personally and have had work done on multiple vehicles here. They have let me borrow a tool one time. The work is always quick. I've had a vehicle dropped off without a wheel on one side by a flatbed truck and left it there overnight without the wheel. They didn't ask anything, just fixed what it needed and it only cost me like 150ish. The alignment machine is smaller, so it can mostly only do cars, they wouldn't align my jeep, and I know them personally (the jeep wouldn't have held it well and the tires stick out where it might not have fit on the alignment machine well.

VERY honest people! Jonathan was kind enough to point out that I didn't actually have a leak in my system, and he even waived the exam fee. (They don't charge for finding a problem most times, but this smoke test did have a fee behind it.) The check engine light was caused by a gas cap not being tightened enough the last time I filled up. Saved me a ton of money - they could have easily lied about it and charged for the exam and 'fixing'. I'll never take my car anywhere else. This is the second time I've used them for a repair/diagnostics and both times they've been awesome. I'm usually leery of mechanics; being a single woman who doesn't know much about cars I've been ripped off a time or two. But these guys give me peace of mind. Love them, and will be referring all my friends here. Thank you Jonathan, and everyone else who worked on my car today!

Very friendly and good price. Got my belt changed, charged a very reasonable price even though it took almost twice as much labor time than it should due to the complex structure of my car(Sports Coupe). Would definitely visit again for future service and maintenance. The mechanics give honest inspection and useful advice.

Do not use Discount Car Care off Mason and Kingsland. Because we refused their services (after waiting 1.5 hours, when they said 40 minutes), and made the repair ourselves, they will not stamp us passed on our inspection. The parts were overpriced and the repair took my husband 30 minutes--even though they said it would take a couple hrs. When we returned the manager said the inspection would take 20-30 minutes. This time they stayed pretty close to that time, but he came out and failed because he said I did not replace the sensor. I told him it was repaired--just not at his shop. I asked if the check engine light came on. He said no it did not, but he still failed me because I had not driven 50 miles. I asked if he recorded mileage and how he knew I had not driven 50 miles. I also asked why he was so inconsiderate that he could not tell me upfront that he planned to fail me upon check in. He never said, "BTW, if you have not driven 50 miles, I will be failing you today." Instead, he took the truck with no intention of passing me, just based on ego and assumption. Again, I asked how he knew I had not driven enough miles. He did not even ask me. He said I could come back the next day and he might be able to pass me, but I would have to wait another 30 to 40 minutes. I told him that I could go to another shop right now and they would stamp pass. There was no reason not to. He refused and said I could come back. I strongly believe that if my husband had gone in, we'd already have that sticker on our window. I also witnessed three different customers between the two times I went there all tell the same story: "You fixed my car without permission." The owner said, "Oh, my apologies...but can you pay it?" Not okay. Definitely not returning here again. Very disappointed.
