Just because I have to leave a star but horrible horrible place. Manager Louie and his staff don t know what they are doing. Was quoted $1,200.00 two days later Louie called and changed the price to $2,500.00 then 4 days later called said it was ready and it would be $3,200.00. We had no issue paying it Not even 12 miles from shop all transmission fluid leaked out . Called Louie and told him the situation said he would send his tow truck which never showed up after waiting all day had to call triple A and had it towed at my expense.. long story short taking universal transmission to court.. Ppl please do your research before you take it to ppl like them also BBB will be hearing f/ us

Awesome service!!! My cousins car broke down. We were panicking as we looked for the nearest auto repair shop. Thank God for Universal Transmissions. They helped us immediately! The employee's and the people in charged helped us and discussed many things with my cousin. My cousin was skeptical about leaving his car with them and my he isn't the easiest to convince. I don't know how they did it but they convinced him! I heard them talk about a bunch of work that they were going to preform every step they were gonna take, they made sure to let my cousin know. Also the prices of the work and my cousin said he felt relief that it wasn't expensive at all!! I say they had amazing communication with the costumer and it was a great first time experience. My cousin thanked them for their help and their time and told them he'd be back if anything. Excellent service and we will definitely be recommending this shop to all our family members!

A trustworthy mechanic! Brought in a used car for a tune up. Folks at Universal Transmission looked it over, said everything is tip top, no charge - showed pictures too!They could have taken me for a ride and charged me anyways, but no, they stayed honest, prompt, and professional! Really good place!

This is the best time to give my assessments about Universal transmission at the beginning of 2024My name is Franklin Pham, I owned a 2005 lexus LS430 whose transmission broke down on 01/27/2023; and since I lived a few blocks from this garage, I brought it to this place to have it fixed They charged my 4K$ to rebuild my transmission, and they took three trials and still not fix my problems. Each time they hold on my car for two weeks and not only affect my earnings but still not fix my car Last week my transmission failed with the same symptoms and they early mentioned that after they fixed my car, I could run at least few years The bottom line is if you have car s transmission problems.. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE.. if you don t want to waste your money and precious time..THEY ARE NOT COMPETENT AND UNPROFESSIONAL,,,

Scott is a lifesaver! Very professional guy. Picked up the phone and I got serviced in no time. It was near his end-of-shift but that didn't stop him in helping me. I needed my car towed to the shop. He said to give him a few minutes and he would call me back with the next steps. I thought he was going to say that I would need to wait until Monday but nope, he got the tow truck sent to me. Now it was checked out and parts were ordered. He didn't take advantage of the situation and gave me a fair price. (I asked around, lol I have trust issues). Given the circumstances, it was great experience. Universal Transmission came through for me... they are hard working mechanics and I have nothing but appreciation for them.

Came in for transmission service January 2017 and was told it would cost $600 to look at the transmission. I paid cash, got a hand written receipt, and I told Daniel (manager) to call me with an estimate. He calls me for with the initial estimate of $5000 less the $600 so $4400. I told him to wait for repair so I can talk to my wife, and that I ll call him the next day. I called him the next day, and he said he s completed repair of the car. I told him I did not agree to start, so he starts lowering the price to $3200. When I go pickup the car the next day, he tells me one of his porters got into an accident with my car (they said it was the other driver s fault, which other driver said he was the porter s fault). Long story short, I ask for owner s contact info and he says it's private. I contacted him 17 times to get my car fixed (January to end of March). Car was left at the shop for over 1.5 months (tires went low). After which I took the car home and also inspected the transmission and found out the transmission dust cover was missing. I came back immediately and Daniel said he would not install the dust cover & claims it was missing before the repair which he also admitted that he would contact me if anything was out of the ordinary during the repair. After 3 months, Universal finally fixed my car due to the collision but with a very bad paint job/bondo work and missing/broken parts which I had to go back/forth to get fixed. Buyer beware of always negotiable transmission prices and no dust cover being re-installed. If they get into a collision with a customer vehicle, they never gave me their owner s contact information and their shop insurance to make a claim after repeated requests, so I doubt they are insured. It s also interesting that my $600 initial cash deposit is not included on my final receipt (only the $3200).EDIT: Be careful. This place seems to have a lot of 1-review persons leaving 5* reviews. Yelp flags this down a lot better than Google. Star ratings may be over-rated.Service: Transmission

Horrible place don t waste your money I wish I wouldn t have listened to my mechanic who referred me there, and have read the reviews. Had to take my truck back to them 4 times and every time was something different and days in the shop. Even went for a second opinion and to get prices incase I had to take it somewhere else. When I told him where I had gotten it fixed they told me this place is known for ripping people off and having lawsuits from customers. I don t how true this is but from my experience and after reading a few reviews I wouldn t be surprised.Just a look out so this won t happen to you.Never going back here.

Universal transmission took very good care of my 2015 Ford f150. I came for a free diagnostic and they told me I did not need a whole transmission, all I needed was to change my mounts and my issue went away. The dealer wanted to charge me an arm and a leg! I'm grateful to universal, thank you!

Universal transmissions helped me tremendously with my 2009 Ford f-150. I ended up breaking down and was blessed to find universal nearby me. They quickly called a tow truck for me and diagnosed the issue and was very thorough with the process. Pete was very respectful and made me feel safe , and I sure was. It's been a couple of weeks and my truck runs beautifully, I'm thankful for pete and universal transmission for getting me back on the road!

Took my truck in had the entire drivetrain replaced came out of pocket 3500$ they had my truck for 2+ months. After picking my truck up I blew a freeze plug on my water pump after guy told me he drove the truck around but obviously didn't get it to temp or would have noticed the whole in the center of my freeze plug. I picked the truck up February 25, 2023 here It is April 20, 2023 and my torque converter has burnt up and my seals are leaking from being WAY over filled. I called to get help because they advertise that they back their warranties and free towing and rental but told me unless I have my own invoice they aren't going to do anything. And won't bother looking my invoice up so they can fix their mistake.Service: Engine repair

They illegally hold your car if you refuse business with them on top of the other mechanical failures after repairs with them. Do not do business with them. If you are having issues with this company, contact the Better Business Bureau!!

Scam. Our truck broke down and this company towed it. They stated the whole transmission needed to be rebuilt and a new radiator. I had to take out a $4500 loan in house with a horrible apr. One week later the truck is broken down with a bad starter and oil leak. None of the fluid was filled. It s a 2012 Nissan Frontier with 160000 miles on it. Only one previous owner. We contacted them and they said there is nothing they can do.Service: Transmission

Talked to the guys over there and were very Straightforward with what needed to be done to my Land Rover. Was able to describe my issue on the phone and they quickly gave me suggestions on what would need to be done to it. Highly recommend them. Very Honest and reputable.

The business is terrible. I bring my Lexus there for them to fix , over the phone he charged 650 and continue to change price as the day goes by . I didn t get it fixed by them instead I got it towed back and my my front grill and front bumper was off

Had my transmission give out a weird sound and was slipping from my knowledge. Took it to universal transmission. They call me and say the transmission definitely has something going on and they have to charge me $700 to take a look at it. I agree to that. I then get rushed by the shop to get them the money to fix the transmission because it was on the rack . Was given a quote of $4500 which I couldn t reason with and I immediately was offered a price of $3500. **This is a red flag and as the other reviewers have mentioned has been done before.** None the less they say my truck will be done by the end of the week. Kept getting the run around and my truck took almost a month to complete. When I get my truck there is damage on my front bumper and am told We will check the cameras with a careless tone. They never got back to me on that but at that point I just wanted to take my truck and get out of there. After I took delivery, my center console was sticky like someone had dropped a coke or something. I understand how accidents can happen but at least own up to the mess. Now 6 months later my transmission is slipping. I take it to them and they give it one test drive and say nothing is wrong. Took it to another transmission shop and they verified there was slipping. I was only given a year of warranty which is going to end in a few months. That leaves me out $3500 and the $250 to repair my bumper. This shop has enough bad reviews and I shouldn t of have trusted it. Take your car elsewhere as a lot of people have had horrible service here.

We went to this place last week. We should have read the reviews. They said FREE ESTIMATE which means that you are not supposed to pay anything and find out what is wrong with your vehicle and how much it costs to repair. We received a call back and we're notified that they didn't know what was wrong and that we can opt to put it on the machine and find out what is wrong for only $600. They said they would take the $600 off of the total of the repair. My question is how do they know that the repair will be more than $600. In other words, they are going to make at least $600 before any work is done. I know that there are several other places that charge you $100 to have a diagnosis. How can you charge for a free estimate ? That doesn't sound like a free estimate to me. This sounds like a PONZI SCHEME to me. This place needs to be investigated and closed down. I went back up there and got the car before they can charge me for a free estimate. The 5 star ratings are very questionable to me. There can't be that much difference at the same place. PLEASE RUN FROM THIS PLACE unless you have at least $600 for your free estimate. Please read the reviews and separate fact from FICTION !!!

Good experience so far. Had my transmission fluid changed, brakes and rotors, and brake fluids changed at universal transmission. Brakes are working like new and the car drives like new. The transmission fluid had not been changed for 130k miles so fingers crossed it doesn't break down. So far its been shifting like a champ. The only reason i am giving a 4 star is due to the time it took to get the work done. I had to take more time than i wanted from work to get it done.

This shop steals and won t remember what job they did the owner Louie will lie and try to get you out of extra money and won t even do what he stated i came for transmission work and he doesn t even remember doing it it was a week and a half ago these guys are crook please don t get took advantage of he took 6500 from me for a 1700 dollar job the worst place ever the owner uses profanity and so unprofessional he won t update you on the process of the car because he s lying most of the time don t i REPEAT DONT TRUST THEM they will rigg your car just to get you out the way and as i was there another guy came in complaining about them losing parts to his car and he refused to help him saying get another out the junk yard Louie is not to be trusted

I had my BMW at another shop and they had it for more than 4 weeks and was going to charge me 7200 , I took it out and took it to a guy name Pete and he had me done in 2 days and it was only 4200. That saved me money and had it done fastService: TransmissionService: Transmission

Excellent people and service. My daughter was considering buying a used Lexus from a major dealership nearby, but it seemed to be a little bumpy between gears. So we took it here to get the transmission inspected before buying, and thank god we did. They said the transmission was ok, but highlighted all the other problems they found with the car. It ended up needing thousands of dollars in repairs. Needless to say, we didn t buy the car. Had it not been for them and trusted the dealership we would have bought a car with thousands of dollars in repairs driving off the lot. And this is from a major dealership. I highly recommend them!!!

The most unprofessional Repair shop that I've been to. I dropped my car off for a simple FREE diagnostic. I've taken 3 of my vehicles to them in the past and am fully aware of the FREE diagnostic. When they finally got back to me after weeks, they told me the price to fix my vehicle and I was not able to take care of the financial damage at the time. So, I told them I would send a tow truck to get it out of their way until I can afford the service (which I've also done before with them, no problem). They informed me that I could not pick up my vehicle until I payed them almost 500 dollars! For doing absolutely no repairs. They claimed they did a diagnostic but then proceeded to go above and beyond that and pulled my entire transmission out of my car, which is NOT part of the simple diagnosis and I definitely did not authorize anything other then a free diagnostic. After I got my car back, I took it to a couple different places not wanting Universal to fix the actual damage because of the way they tried to scam me. The other places I took it to then informed me that not only did they put my transmission back in my car wrong, which caused damage to my car but they also damaged they majority of the actual parts. Some of which I wouldn't of had to replace if it wasn't for them. I would hate to think that someone would do that out of spite, but I also hate to think that they are running a machanic business with mechanics that don't know what they are doing I felt I needed to say, in case I can save anyone else the financial and emotional stress!

Universal Transmissions has done me well. The Manager of the shop Daniel helped explain the situation and progress of my vehicle when I would speak with him. I was anxious to get transmission work done with Universal because I was skeptical of the reviews posted here, but the good reviews are all of what I experienced here. My truck was working as good as new, and I couldn't be happier. Great customer service

DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE!! Rebuilt Transmission and it started leaking within 6 months. Took it back to have it fixed under warranty and they had our vehicle for 3 weeks. We can tell the transmission was never pulled out of the vehicle (had another mechanic verify no work had been done), so they couldn t have diagnosed the problem or ordered the parts they said they couldn t get in ...needless to say, it still leaks. To top it off, they put around 300 miles on our car and we found greasy boxes in the back so they were very clearly using our vehicle for 3 weeks to haul parts around instead of fixing it. When we got there the guy was pulling up in our car and hauling out the lunch that everyone ordered that day.They are untrustworthy, bad at their job and just awful people!! If I could give them negative starts o would. Do NOT use this business!!!Service: Transmission

Report them to the BBB. They are members and MUST work on a resolution. Don't just take their poor workmanship. Find a REAL shop. They gave me my truck back, said they fixed it, and less than 50 miles later my check engine light came back on. I had paid $ 2,171 when I picked it up. The had it for 5 days. I took it back and they kept it for 6 more days. I picked it up, 2 days later I saw that it was leaking from the pan. Took it back again. 4 days later, I got it back again. I retiring it. I can not trust their work. They should have fixed it before having me pay. Now I have lost my 2001 doublecab Tacoma. It only had 596,000 miles on it. I have had it for 10 years and put 490,000 of the miles on it.
