I brought a Buick Grand National to Tech Auto 3 years ago & paid shop owner Bobby H. $8400 to rebuild the motor..he wasted 3 years of my time & gave me back a still non running vehicle & refused to refund even part of what I paid him. See you in court Bobby. Don't be fooled like me, stay away from Tech Auto if you really value your vehicle.

Long overdue in writing this review. Bobby and his crew at Tech Auto Maintenance have always provided excellent service over the years on a variety of vehicles I've rotated in and out of my personal 'fleet'. Some fixes quick and easy while others way more complex - each time a positive experience. Transparent, trustworthy, and EXTREMELY timely (Bobby is on a very short list of mechanics I trust). Huge props to Mitch who rebuilt the entire AC system in my 80-series Land Cruiser on a stupidly quick turnaround before leaving next morning for a 3k-mile road trip (truck never skipped a beat and AC still ice cold years later!) Walk the parking lot and it'll be clear that these guys know what they're doing. Highly recommend Tech Auto. 5-stars all-round!

I was really hoping this was gonna work out for some work on my 1974 Volkswagen thing. Needless to say, I picked it up disappointed after it had been there for a solid week, With no phone call updates even after calling myself several times. It was never looked at, To my knowledge, I find it interesting that the engine filter was laying in The backseat . I had requested that it have its cover To which I was told it would, but when I got there, the cover was off, and the car was dirty on the inside. One of the mechanics tried to explain some things to me, but the main guy who works on the classic cars was nowhere around, but when I picked it up, I think he was there, and he never greeted me.The receptionist was the friendliest part of my visit.Better luck next time...

As usual for Tech Auto, an accurate diagnosis, an honest fix with explanation of how and why. Not the least expensive, but worth it to know it's done correctly.

Really love Bobby and his crew. I have a heavily modified Jeep Wrangler JK that I've taken to him repeatedly for advice, service, and upgrades. He's never steered me wrong and always done excellent work.This last go was swapping to my third set of springs and shocks, plus as aftermarket oversized radiator to help the engine stay cooler in my desert journeys out west.He's not the cheapest. He charges what he's worth and his years of knowledge on offroad classics is rare in the Houston area.Thanks Bobby.

Had a little work done on my car. Bobby came highly recommended and did a great job, fast and professional. He truly knows cars and it shows, they have a lot full of classics in various states of being worked on. He can work on new model high tech rides just as well.

Excellent experience.My power front seat back was stuck in the extreme forward position and I needed to drive from Houston to Asheville, NC. The Service Manager at TAM explained what they needed to check so he suggested I drop it off the next morning. By noon the next day he called me saying the switch was bad and quoted a fair price. By late afternoon THE SAME DAY he called me and said my car was repaired and I could pick it up anytime. The power seat back works fine the price quoted was the amount charged. After the payment transaction was completed he moved my car so it was easy to pull straight out of the parking lot.I would always consider Tech Auto Maintenance first for any repair.thank you!

I want to say a HUGE thank you to Jeff and Bobby. I had a flat tire at the car wash yesterday and had to drive it home. The first place I called the next day was Tech Auto Maintenance. Jeff answered first and was so friendly and helpful. Bobby was also extremely nice and came across the street to help me. Bobby was able to remove my flat tire and put on my spare. Being away from family, I didn t have anyone to call. This place treats you like family and makes sure you get back on the road quickly and efficiently. Bobby is a true professional. Despite some circumstances out of the shop's control, there was a delay in repair completion. Bobby kept me informed and ended up saving me a couple of hundred dollars. Thank you Bobby! 2 enthusiastic thumbs up, highly recommend.

Paid good money for a diagnosis that told me very little more than I already knew. I'm pretty sure they spent less than 2 minutes looking at my truck. Then they refused to work on it. Tried to tell me it wasn't worth 500 dollars. They also let me drive off the lot with no radiator cap on my radiator full well knowing I was already having issues with a coolant leak. Coolant ended up everywhere about 5 minutes down the road from them. Do not go here unless you have thousands to spend on completely restoring a classic. They won't want your business otherwise.

Major major Engine problems. Upfront with repair quote and below 2 other estimates I found. No surprises at the end. Bobby was fair, honest and a true professional. Service done less than a week. As a woman, I walked away feeling good and my engine purring like a kitten. I've used Bobby and Tech Auto for years. Always a positive experience. Their quoted price is what gets charged. One time it would have been an expensive repair but he told me the part in question was still under manufacturer warranty - so take it to the dealer to get it done for free!Service: General repairs & maintenanceService: General repairs & maintenance

These are the best mechanics in Texas...Period! Bobby took on my applications to my new Dodge Ram Rebel and then some quickly and professionally! Come to find out we were on the same race circuit but different camps. Hard workers all and know their stuff. I won't go anywhere else from now on! Betty was very kind and helpful. I had just bought a lemon and the cost to fix everything was the same as I paid for the piece of junk. I asked if it was possible to just keep it running for a little longer because I couldn't afford all the repairs it needs. Betty and the mechanics sorted it out and got it running well enough for 1/4 of the price. It's running dirty and I'll have to fix it at some point, but they did what I asked. When I picked it up, one of the mechanics explained the issues to me and reassured me it will last long enough for my purposes. Tech Auto is truly a special place. Aesthetically it is the prime example of what a real auto shop should look like; surrounded by classic cars and great people. I live in the neighborhood and have always enjoyed passing by. It always had a good feeling around it, for instance, I feel like if I were a kid and my radio flyer wagon wheel fell off, these fine folks would help me out. So, when it was time to get my shocks and struts replaced on my truck this is first and only place I called. The staff are amazingly straight up real people-smart, honest, kind and genuine. I got a written quote on the spot with an incredible price, tossed them my keys and all was easy. I truly wholeheartedly love this place.

We were recommended this shop by our neighbors who previously used it to repair their cars there. Before going i called to different companies and all were saying the store will keep my car for few days. These guys asked me to come, saw the problem in 30min and in 3hours I got my car repaired (AC coolant reservoir) for a very good rate ! This place will be # 1 to call next time and I highly recommend this place

I have done business with Bobby ever since he opened his shop here. Some people say he is "high" with his prices, but I beg to differ. His labor rates are along with everyone else. His parts prices are the same if not better than others. Some other shops try to Con you in with "free towing" and "free diagnostics" if they do the work. Believe me, they make up for it SOME way. With Bobby's crew, you pay for what you get, nothing more, nothing less. As with ANY mechanic you deal with, there will be "issues", it's how they are handled that makes the difference. On the VERY RARE occasions that I have had an issue, Bobby took care of it IMMEDIATELY. Most importantly, he is honest and his mechanics are honest. If they fix something, it was broke. As far as Bobby being a "kind" mechanic, that's between him and me. LOL!!! I will not take my vehicles ANY where else.

Bobby and his crew standby their work and he has taken care of my trucks, fiat, Camaro and Porsches over 12 years. If you want an autosjop that will go above and beyond, go to Tech Auto. I came in for an oil change and an inspection. They don't offer inspection services, so they drove my car down to a nearby shop for them to inspect it for me! This was so beyond what I was expecting I was utterly blown away. This little act of service will make me a customer for a long time. It's the difference between in the car industry, and being in the hospitality industry. I tip my hat to the owner of this shop and more so to the entire team he has working with him.

Best auto repair shop in the downtown area also very good with older cars 1960s and under. I ve seen new Porsches and Mercedes there too so I m pretty sure they do everything. The owner is a gem very nice guy and Betty is great as well, love this place. There s a mechanic there by the name of Mitch he s very good but he s rude.

I took my car in to get the front brakes replaced. They priced me $500, and sold me parts I didn't even need, like the rotors which were "paper thin and work". I instead then replaced the brakes myself for only $21. The rotors were perfectly fine. This place has criminal pricing, don't go here if you want a fair deal.

Two visits to this shop have saved me over $4,000 compared to the dealer repair on my Toyota.The first instance....maintenance light on and hard starting. Toyota dealership says I need a new O2 sensor, new catalytic converters. Thousands of dollars. But I know enough about cars that cat converter failure is not going to cause hard starts. Something else going on.I stop at a local shop that works on European imports. The team is sitting eating lunch. I tell them I have a tough problem with my Toyota. Older gentleman with thick German accent tells me they only work on European cars, but recommends Tech Auto.I tell them I need someone competent, and the entire group starts laughing at me. Older gentlemen kindly tells me that I have nothing to worry about at that place .Drove right there. Within 2-3 hours, they determined that I had 4 fuel injectors leaking fuel ( I knew this as my OBD2 monitor showed longterm adjustment on fuel to lower feed rate.)They found a reliable source quality rebuilt injectors at a fraction of OEM price.They didn't press me on changing out the Catalytic converters (very expensive), and recommended I drive it for a couple weeks and see if cat error clears.It has been over a year, starts great, runs great and cat converters no longer throwing errors.**********Fast forward to last week. Minivan has a rain water leak in rear hatch, flooding interior. There is a rubber electrical boot that feeds cables into rear hatch. Camera installer had damaged it. Toyota tells me that the part will take a month to get in, and installed, will cost $1k. Why did I ever go there after last experience?Back to Tech Auto, and in 45 minutes it is fixed. And upon inspection, a very clever professional fix by someone skilled. And it cost me like nothing.*********Just pulling into their repair yard reveals many vintage cars, Bronco's etc in various stages of restoration. These are a group of guys who just love cars.What more can I say...

Provided exceptional service... actually Bobby was hero for my day!!! Needed some early morning local assistance and they were prompt and simply GREAT!! Would highly recommend them. Will use them any time I have mechanical need in Houston!

Absolutely phenomenal service hands down the best mechanic in Houston on time fixed correctly fantastic job.I had my car at two Ford dealerships they could not diagnosed a problem Bobby had it fixed the same day in and out I refer all my friends and family to himDon't dare go anywhere else the shop is a gem in the heights

Tech auto lost my business after my last visit. They did a very poor install on a new steering box bracket and didn't install all the bolts on my steering box which is an obvious safety issue. They also didn't return to me the left over parts from the bracket and they put some ugly mud dobber looking welds on my Jeep's frame.

I came here with a question about some DIY work I ve been doing on my car. Bobby was very knowledgeable and answered all my questions, then went above and beyond by driving my car and using a scan tool to give me more detailed information. Amazing customer service!
