I was referred to A Plus by another mechanic to look at my F150's transmission. Robert had is guys look it over and realized it was not my transmission but my front differential. They were very quick and did not charge me a fee for diagnosing the real problem. Even though, they didn't do any work for me, I was impressed with their professionalism and will definitely use them in the future.

This Business is Horrible please Don t go in there nor Trust anything they tell you!! Run out of that place ! Those prejudice White men are liars especially John and Cameron , they are totally liars ! Will tell you a transmission is $6100 dollars and then take $799 from you just straight up Jack / Rob you !! Run Rabbits Run This business should be held on Criminal charges , they totally destroyed my 2017 Nissan Sentra , sabotaged it !! Now I have to buy another Car!! They truly destroyed it . No lie !! They don t even deserve One Star!!!

I had Robert and his awesome crew build two transmissions for me. One for my suburban and one for my chevelle. They knocked it out the park on both builds. The experience was great. Got both done in a timely manner and worked with my budget. I couldn't ask for a better experience. I highly recommend!

XXXXX DO NOT BRING YOUR CAR HERE! XXXX SCAM ARTIST. Mr. Robert sounded very nice and professional on the phone. He told me to bring my vehicle in and he would have it repaired the same day. I brought my car in and he told me I had to drop the car off and that I could not be present during the repair. I've had mechanics steal parts off my vehicles, break things, leave parts disconnected, etc... Any honest shop should have no problem being transparent about the work they're doing on your car. He said I couldn't wait because he was sick and didn't want to expose anyone to his illness. I offered to wait outside and when I did that he told me he just didn't want to do the job at all, to leave, and then he picked up his phone like he was going to call the cops. Very suspicious. Makes no sense. Again, DO NOT BRING YOUR CAR HERE!

I have a 1993 GMC (C1500) pick up with 4L60E transmission. This transmission was a large production and fairly standard transmission to build. I got my transmission rebuild by the A Plus transmission off Shepard near Washington Ave a few years ago, and this place actual was recommended by a neighbor. My neighbor was like "I know the owner" he will take real good care of you. When I brought it in the truck didn't go in reverse, and so they said they have to take it all apart to see what's wrong. Makes sense to me, and once that was done they called me they gave me a quote of 3k. Ok fine, let's get it rebuilt. They had it for about a week, and so when I picked up I was driving home and got about 7 miles and there was this loud banging under the car. I called them they said bring back tomorrow and we will fix it. so I did, and when I went back to get it a second time I started it up and I can hear something banging again. It wasn't as loud as the first time, but they agreed something was wrong. I left it and came back a few days later. Had it for about a week and noticed I had slow leak of transmission fluid in my garage. Brought it back over there and they agreed it had a transmission leak. The leak ended up continuing after that visit and I was so tied of going over there I just never went back. I said screw it I will deal with the leak, they are clearly not interested in doing this job right. I have been checking the fluid and keeping it top off, it's not that bad of a leak, but never the less a leak. Funny thing is it didn't have a leak when I initially brought it in. Fast forward later my warranty is up and the transmission is taking a long time to shift and the engine winds when shifting to 2nd to 3rd on the highway. I highly recommend to stay away from this transmission shop. I recommend staying away from the franchise ones altogether but certainly this one. They may smile, they try to address your issues, but in the end they do not have the skill in the shop to do the right job. 3 thousand dollars and less then 5 thousand miles later I need to get this thing rebuilt again. I keep a piece of card board underneath the truck to soak up all the transmission fluid drops. I'm reminded of this company every time I take it for a drive. The slipping transmission put me over the top to write this review. Also, if you have a service guy that talks fast, turn around and walk out. Its a bad sign.

Experienced what I thought was gear slippage with an automatic transmission. Was expecting the problem to be a symptom of a major issue. Took my car in and it turned out to be loose linkage that was solved by tightening a bolt. Went in expecting to be sold a new transmission and walked out paying less than an hours worth of labor. Thanks, Robert, for providing honest and efficient service.

I recently purchased a 1997 Lincoln Town Car with only 29k miles. I thought It would be good to get the transmission fluid changed so I made an appointment. When I got there and spoke with Robert he suggested it would be best to leave the fluid in there because the new fluid has lots of detergents in it and may cause more trouble than help. It makes a lot of sense. Robert's a great guy and fun to talk with. He shoots it straight. He could of easily of taken my money and changed the fluid. He thought of his customer (me) instead of the bottom line. Well Robert and A Plus Transmission...You've got a customer for life! Spent thousands of dollars to have my transmission fixed. Stopped shifting 7000 miles and just over a year later. I bring it in and "they do me a solid" and say they will get it fixed. I ask when it will be done and they give me a next week about 6 times. Sits unmoved for 2 months. Finally I get it back. I ask for a parts manifest for both repairs. They have nothing for me. Surprise. My clutch is blasted now, even though it was brand new and the truck shifts like smacking two pieces of rebar together. I'm not even mad at this point, just impressed at how awful the whole experience has been. Take away is, if you have an old standard, run away. Won't step foot in this place again.

Edit: Went from 2 starts to 3 stars because after this review they did reach out to offer to get my car detailed to remove the stains.My car began to have intermittent starting issues because the transmission wasn't immediately engaging when it turned on. The dealer didn't have an opening for 3 weeks, so I decided to take the car to A Plus instead. They thought it was an electrical issue and apparently tested all the electrical components but couldn't find anything. This testing took about a week, and I had to call several times to check for updates despite asking for them to call me when they had updates.Since they couldn't find any electrical issues, the next step was to disassemble the transmission for an inspection which would cost ~$800. I told them to go ahead and dissemble it. Again, they kept providing deadlines they would have the work done by that they never met/even followed up on. I continued having to call to get any info on the car. Finally, I called one day and they let me know I would need to replace a number of significant components and the estimated price was ~$4000. At this point it had been about 2 weeks.I decided not to do the repairs and they said they would have the transmission reinstalled shortly. I asked that they call when they had more information. They provided an expected completion time that came and went with no communication. After about a week, I showed up in person to the shop to see where the car was and re-emphasize that I would really appreciate if they could call when there were updates (particularly if the deadline they provided passed). After showing up in person, they did begin calling me with updates.The reason the car was not ready to leave was that they were having some sort of issues putting the transmission back together and the car had developed a new problem of shifting hard. They were taking the transmission out again and going to reinstall it to see if the issue was fixed. After another week, they called and reported that they tried again to no avail. At this point, they waived the inspection fee because they had my car for so long. They also let me know that they were going to try to fix the problem so the car wasn't worse than when I brought it to them. Another week passed with now fix and no car. Eventually, I got a call from them saying that they didn't know what was wrong with it and there was basically nothing else they could do.After getting ahold of the general manager, he offered to go down to the shop and take a look himself. After a few days, the transmission was back to its original condition and I went and picked it up.All in all, the process took ~6 weeks to get my car back. I was pretty disappointed in the interior condition though. I imagine working on transmissions is very manual and exhausting work, and I could understand if grease was left on the door handles and hard plastic surfaces. Unfortunately, there was also grease left on several of the seats and upholstered surfaces.The people at the shop are nice enough, but I wouldn't recommend them if you don't have a lot of time to get you car fixed, don't want to have to constantly call for information updates, or expect any deviation from a transmission repair.TLDR; took 6 weeks to get my car back without any repairs and it came back with grease stains on the seats

Ask for robert, he s a super cool and friendly guy and he ll take good care of your transmission issues. I brought in my old mitsubishi 3000gt when the transmission gave out, which is a difficult car to source parts for. He was there every step of the way and worked tirelessly until we finally managed to source a replacement transmission, which he had installed with no problems and gave me a surprisingly good price on! Car drives great and shifts smooth once again! I m convinced A plus was the best possible place I could have taken my car to. Honestly and integrity. I took my older model bmw to this shop and they offered me a free inspection of my transmission. It took about an hour. They called me and was very honest in their findings. Ultimately I traded the car because the repairs would have cost more than the value of the vehicle.

One of the BEST experience I ve ever had dealing with car problems. Robert who is in the front office was extremely helpful and nice. Robert kept me updated and even got my warranty company to approve my claim because of Robert wonderful customer service I was very impatient about my car getting worked on because I knew it was in good hands. Robert is a person that stands up to warrant companies. I took my van to him in February 2022. He contacted warranty company. Adjuster came our several times and indicated it was not transmission. He and I calling company weekly. Finally in July, they agreed with Robert that is was a transmission issue. Company finally sent transmission in July. He will fight for his customers (5 months). I originally said that I would pay for the transmission and he said no because it is covered by the Warranty Company and they may not reimburse me. I am glad that I listened at him. I recommend Robert for holding my Warranty Company accountable to his customers. Keep up the good workService: Transmission

Brought in my Hyundai Santa Fe for transmission maintenance fluid change. Had an appointment and Service Advisor Robert and team were ready for me, on time, friendly and helpful. Because my SUV was higher mileage, they took extra care to ensure I would have no problems on next day road trip. Work was finished as promised. I recommend A Plus! Great service!

They will honor their warranty if there are any issues down the road. I would recommend their services for transmission issues that are reasonably priced and great service. Paid over $3k to get transmission fixed in 4runner last year. Initially got SUV back and issue wasn t fixed, specifically a judder from 3rd to 4th gear. We took our daughters car over a year ago to get a new transmission and its ran great ! They were very professional, reasonably priced, and knowledgeable about the issues with the car. We recently went back for some minor issues and again the service was exceptional. Javier is a honest and straight forward person to deal with. I was a bit sketchy about getting the car worked on there since i had no referrals but I'm really glad I did and extremely satisfied with their service !

Excellent! Remember the name Robert! Again remember Robert! He was excellent/outstanding. I live 492 miles from A+ Transmission while my son lives in Houston. My sons truck would not move when you press the gas pedal at a Pep Boys. I called Pep Boys and they said call A+ transmission specialist to investigate and get answers about my transmission. I called A+ transmission specialist and spoke to a man named Robert. Robert worked with me in getting my sons 2010 F-150 Blue Truck towed from Pep Boys in Houston to his location on Shepherd Drive. Robert worked with me and keep me informed of his inspection, the cost, repair of the transmission, and and when it would be completed. Robert kept the communication up. I loved that straight forwardness talk in him. Robert knew what he was talking about and in addition he was pleasant to talk to. With all that said the truck was fixed and my son got his truck repaired the day it was promised. My son and I are very happy and pleased. I took my vehicle to A Plus after a referral from a coworker. Robert was very courteous and walked me through the entire repair process. Repairs were made in a timely manner and at a very reasonable price. My dealership usually takes at least a week for minor issues and charges an arm and a leg. I will definitely refer others to A Plus Transmission and bring my vehicle here for any other repairs I need.

They still have my car! I was told bad transmission and torque converter. I request OEM parts no off brands or used parts. Prepaid for the work. Robert the manager is a great asset to this company, I would have already taken them to court had it not been for him. He genuinely wants to do the right thing! That being said 3 months later, still no solution to my car working. Same issue as when I brought the car in for inspection. I will consider upgrading the review if and when I get my car back working! I will be discussing why I paid 3k for a misdiagnosed problem!Service: Transmission

We paid over $3000 to have the transmission fixed! They wanted their money upfront and received it. My car was taken back twice and on the way up there now for the third time because the car stopped functioning. I was not able to change gears nor operate the vehicle whatsoever.
